Halmir chuckled. "It's a miracle she spent any time at home at all," he grinned. "She was always one to be on the go. Always wanted to do everything, be everywhere, learn everything, do everything ..."
Vergil grinned. "Sounds like my kind of girl!" he said proudly. "When can I meet her?"

Cindy laughed at that, only because if Lin had heard Vergil right then and there she would have probably given the little boy a look.
"Probably not for several years, at the moment Lin is on a sailing trip exploring what are beyond the Four Lands. Just like she always wanted."

Vergil blinked at Cindy. "Four Lands?"
"The continent on which we live," Halmir smiled, the scar at the corner of his mouth tightening as he did so. "There are four lands, simply named the Northland, Eastland, Westland, and Southland. We are in the middle of it all, the Borderlands. The elves live in the Westland, Eastland, and half the Southland; humans in the other half of the Southland, and what few dwarfs are left live in the Northland."
Vergil nodded slowly. "All different countries," he murmured. "I get it."

Cindy smiled at that, it was amazing how far reaching the elves were.
"Yes, and no one really knows much or anything if there are lands beyond this one," Cindy explained.
She suspected perhaps maybe the really old elves knew, but she wasn't so sure.

"Sure you do," Vergil pointed out, "you know there's Gaia where you're from, and the Seconds world where I'm from! See? There are too more lands than this one!"
Halmir laughed loudly. "She meant in our world," he chuckled.

Cindy giggled, "Yes, that is what I mean, in this world. Gaia and the Seconds world is that, they are the names of a world. I'm not sure what this world would be called only the name of the land itself."
Though she supposed it wouldn't have occurred to anyone to give a name to a whole world.

"Arda," Halmir said solemnly before anyone else could speak. "Our world is called Arda."
"But wouldn't there be more than just one land in a whole world?" Vergil pointed out. "I mean ... worlds are big, aren't they? Shouldn't they have more than just one piece of land, no matter how big it is?"

"Arda...." Cindy murmured thoughtfully.
She looked back down at Vergil before smiling at that, he was a quick little boy.
"Yes, and I never said that the Four Lands made up the whole world, it's the reason why Lin is sailing with others, to see what other lands are out there."

Vergil was confused. He hadn't said that she had said that either, so what was she getting at?
"I was just saying that since you said no one knew if there were other lands in this world," he pointed out, "I think there must be, because what kind of world would only have one land?"
He hoped he hadn't offended her ...

"Ah...." Cindy replied softly.
She had been confused by his statement but then again she supposed they were both confused to a point.
"You never know... for all anyone knows it could be all water out there," Cindy pointed out, "Every world is different, not that I would know, I haven't been to that many worlds. This is my only other one."

To be fair, he supposed that no one had ever fully explored the world that he had come from, and even he didn't know much about it at all. For all he knew, it could also be a single land in the world.
He shrugged. "I dunno. Maybe. Guess someday we might find out, huh?"

She fully expected to hear a lot of things once Rhea nad hte others got back. She oculd only imagine waht she would hear though.
"So is there anything else you'd like to see?"

Vergil thought about it for a moment. "You said something about some people's houses," he suggested, "and I want to see the rest of the area where we live!"
After all, he didn't want to feel lost in the place that would be his home.

She remembered when it had just been Ulani and Ulrich's house.

"Does that mean it's time to go back?" Vergil asked Cindy, blinking. "Isn't there more to see? You said there were fighters here, and barracks, and ... and stuff!"
He wanted to see everything he could, not just go back right away!
