Niccea scowled. "I meant I'm fine with fighting her. If I kill her, it isn't my fault. You won't have to worry about be coming by again after this. I prefer nesters."

"Not exactly the most romantic of settings, but what can you do in this day and age?" She shoved her hands into her jeans pockets. "So did Nic wear a wedding dress? Or was it more informal? I really wish I could've been there."

Trenton shrugged. "It was just us and whatever Gifted we could round up to come. Not many were willing. Niccea and I have been engaged since she was ten. We exchanged rings, but we really couldn't sign a marriage license or anything. You know how it is. We didn't want any record that would be permanent and the government would have access to. If this ridiculous war ever ends, maybe someday we will get married legally."

"Maybe it's petty of me, but I really do envy you two...Even if there is a war pretty much centered around seperating you both." She decided to not let him in on the 'why' of that statement. Truth was, he probably already knew by the tone of her feelings. It didn't take a conniseur of emotions to see the grief she was in.
Without warning she forced a smile onto her face and there was a moment where it looked garish as she tried to look normal. "They've been a while, haven't they? I know they can both take care of themselves, but I still worry.

Trenton shrugged his shoulders. "We could check up on them if you want." He shrugged considering the lonely woman in front of him. "Or I could just go on my own."

"I know Rip, err the wolf meant well, but I probably should come along. I can't explain why, but I feel that the key to getting my abilities back lay with those misfits down in the new nest." She stuffed her hands into her pockets and hunched her shoulders forward. "I was actually going to ask if you wanted to wait outside...They know me down there and the setting won't affect me the way it might affect you."
There was that healer instinct of her again. Always watching out for, or trying to protect people when really it should be the other way around.
