For me, It was like reading a different book with a character I knew about. It made me feel uncomfortable the first time I read it, going from the setting of opium, where everything is quaint and the family is above the law and stuff, to the keepers, where everything is so *makes a funny noise* I don't know how to describe the keepers.....but I guess what I'm thinking about could be described as a sort of culture shock, ya know? sweatdrop

(im the youngest, so i know where he;s comnig from!)

YES! The littlest one was SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO cute. ^.^ I've always had a soft spot for the little ones, and I just wanted to take him out of that place and give him a good home...he was like an eager little puppy! heart
Here's a hard question, but what did you think of Daft Donald? I say it's a hard question because he said so very little, but what did you think of him in the begining, and after we heard him comunicate, how did that perspective change?
For me, I felt guilty...I'd thought of him as background and stoic...it never occured to me that he couldn't talk!

i think that was teh point...dont take things for granted, adn people arent always as they seem. (sometiems they are- tom) and stuff like that, but i seriously never gave him a second thought. I mean i thought Tam Lin was jsut gonig to be one of those blockhead body builders who like kittens and are big softies.. but it turned out that he had a brain, so then I thought, well Daft probably has one too, but i never really thoguht he would ever mean anything in the book. the name didn't help. sweatdrop Daft..and all. i thohgut it was suppsoed to be a tag name...basically "he aint bright eitehr" but.. then again, i guess not.
otehr than that, i dont really have an opinion on him except that he is smart enough to listen.

Geba_00 See, I was in love with Tam Lin from the start......I cannot resist a compationit hand to hand combat person. I knew he had a brain....but at the end...*mix of rage and grief* I wish he hadn't drank it! crying ^^ i know i am. my favorite character in most books tends to be the sweet little ity bity cute thing that can just kick some MAJOR butt. xd that skinda the opposite, but thsoie who can kick MAJOR butt, but fall apart at the site of puppies take my heart too. whee but.. it was so obvious he was gonig to take that stuff.. i was thinknig taht he had to dei somehow, just beacause he was who he was...and then when matt came and couldnt find anyone i was like "they all died" i mean el patron wasn't gonig to his death along...when they heard his intentions for the wine, i woulda thoghut SOMEONE would'nt figured itout.. but no.. of coruse not...anwyays. it was still maddening ^^ casue he woulda mad such a good family with celia nad matt. sweatdrop

As Matt was the most dynamic character, I liked him the best.

ConsusLata As Matt was the most dynamic character, I liked him the best. 3nodding He was very dynamic....I loved all the changes he went through, how he could have grown to be twisted like El Patron, but he didn't. Tam Lin made a great roll model...*sniffles* Hyena- I don't think he was crazey. I did reaserch on ferrel children, and children who are abused or maltreeted. How he reacted was actually very typical. If human children are not treated like humans, or they're treated less than what they should be treated as, then they will revert back to animal like behavior. Though that part made me so excesivly angery, it also was extreemly interesting, because I've always wondered what exactly went on inside a ferrel child's head. I'm glad he got put back with Celia, though....and that he was with her to begin with. That way the damage wasn't permanent! O.O!!!

sweatdrop i used crazy as a general word....see, i wouldve acted teh same way. im not saying he was mental. just that, the way he acted was an interesting look at human behavior..btu that took too many words so i said crazy. sweatdrop
the research u did is interesting though. and what exactly is ferrel?
