I'm thinking about submitting Riley for the RP that opaj and Owle have set up. It's called Shades of Grey, involving three factions all wanting control of a paradise-level chunk of land. As expected by the name, no side is completely 'good' or completely 'evil'. This is much along the lines of Grand Wish and other events opaj has set up in the past: there is 1.5 million gold in prizes to be won total (looks like the highest single prize is 200k). Deadline for submission is August 7th.

I was planning on being involved... but between the baby and work, I can't really do it. I applied to be a bio grader, but I didn't hear back after the preliminary conversation. sweatdrop I wish I had the time, too, 'cause it looks sweet.

Clive Hajime Ah, I figured if anyone remembered me, it'd be you. Good to see that you're still alive as well, and hopefully you're doing well. Though I'm not so much alive, as I'm more just... around. Like some ghost from days gone by, albet zombified from being overworked. Anyways, I need to look around more to see if I can be of any service. I just need to really make time, and be coherent as well. I am a good foot soldier though, no matter my state of mind. XP That Antag system has piqued my curiousity quite a bit though. Better than I was when we last met, I assure you haha. Well, if you are able to make time, I look forward to RPing with you once more. It was good times indeed.

Hikaru Dragonheart Better than I was when we last met, I assure you haha. Well, if you are able to make time, I look forward to RPing with you once more. It was good times indeed. That was then, this is now, and as long as you're well now, then that's all that matters. Or something... philosphical like that. And yes, I agree. It was good times. Hard to imagine it's been over a year, huh? Oh, and for RPing in the recruitment thread. Can any of you higher ups give me an okay in using a mobile suit for such things? As from what I've read in the Mecha discussion thread in the ASDF part of the guild, such machines are usually frowned upon. But, it's not like I'd be using a gundam, or anything really too powerful. I tend to use things like this. Or something similar, as I just prefer mass produced suits over most gundams. If I get an okay anytime soon, I'll attempt to jump in to the RP.

I'm probably not the final word, but looking over the mecha, it seems fine for a GA or a GN soldier's use. Since the thread you read, the ASDF has pretty much gone with Battletech, Robotech, and anything Shoji Kawamori designed for our mainstay mecha, and with the condition that our mecha is primarily air and/or space oriented.

People are starting to trickle into the recruitment thread! Please post there when you can, so that people can see it's not just me in this guild wink

Discrimination against mechs? Bite me I say! I'll jump in when my brain works. I just hope our higher ups and whatnot don't get at my throat for RPing-it-up my way.

I highly doubt they will, Hikaru. Or at leat they shouldn't, as I don't see how your RPing could be against anything.
And, well, I hope that kind of a suit is alright to use, as it's the only style of mech that I know very well. I know Robotech, but it's just not my thing. Also, I'll be jumping in soon, I hope. This weekend should allow me time to do something constructive and get started.

Well, we haven't codified the GA mecha yet, so it's fair game for now. Do we have a thread up for that?

I, for one, will not allow any Gundam-Wing mechs into the ASDF. The attack, damage, and special powers varied wildy throughout the course of the series.
At one point, a Gundam's leg gets trashed through normal means. At another, the same gundam survives a nuke to the face. IIRC, a gundam also somehow survived self destructing. Completely inconsistant. Further, the twin buster has killed over 1k mechs plus one space colony in a single blast. That just destroys any possible semblance of balance by itself.

Trust me, I wouldn't ever use a Gundam Wing style mech, period. I liked Wing, but I'd never use one for an RP. As I stated above, I prefer mass produced suits, myself. The Gelgoog Marine I posted above is a good example of something I'd rather pilot. It's something that has massive limitations, especially when not in space.
But just because one series had god modding style mechs, doesn't mean the rest of them do, and doesn't mean everyone is going to use them. I'd take a Zaku I, over any super powered Gundam any day.
But that's just me, and that's why I brought it up, so I didn't show up with something you guys wouldn't want around. I probably won't even join the ASDF anyway, since I'm not very knowledgable with the stuff you guys use, nothing personal though, just not very enlightened. I just wanted to make sure it was okay, that's all.

A Gundam Wing styled mech is blown way out of porportion by your assumptions. I have used one throughout my time on Gaia and WILL continue using it. Mind you, only the basis of the mecha are from Wing, the rest are thought up by myself. And I do happily say that I've never God-Moded or survived anything stronger or even the same ranked MS as my former co-workers when in the GMT. Technicalities and rules make things less fun, remember that when lecturing people on their RPing styles, choice of weaponry and whatnot.
Just liked to point that out.
