(( I had assumed that barriers were total, but will concede this for now, as a way to reach my forces until I can erect a barrier to this. Thus, I play my trump card. ))

As the strike begins, those left in charge of the portal stand in fear. Only one, a young celestial, had the presence of mind to restart the portal. There is no time to argue, and he opens the gate to the Gargotha. As despair and death descends upon the masses, and literally thousands of Celestials struggle to hang on, the young one loses the battle. Leaping through the portal, Rael manages to catch him just as the light fades from his eyes. With sorrow, Rael closes the eyes of the dead one, and his wings flare as bright as the sun.

Not going to Earth has brought the war to Sarra . . . somehow they bypassed every magical barrier and safeguard possible. That was his mistake. Coming here- that was theirs. Here, Celestials are tenfold stronger than on Earth. The Light here imbues them with power, strength, speed . . . Here they are much harder to kill. With his armor on, Rael would be this strong on Earth. In the core of the Light, in his armor, Rael is near invincible.

Rising up without even a wingbeat, the king of all Celestials burns with a light even he is unaware of being capable of.
"You dare . . . you bring this to my home? My family?!" In his hands, a celestial rod appears in each gauntlet, having stood ready on his bracers all this time. The runes of his armor begin to glow and imbue him with strength that only a god might know. This would not work anywhere but here. The strength of a man defending his home is worth a dozen armed invaders. The strength of the king of Celestials defending the Sarra is incalculable.

In each hand, the light forms into weapons, both into a gauntlet bearing a large crescent blade pointed outward over the knuckles. Along the forearm, an axe-blade continues that crescent, forming long J shaped blades. Rael's eyes burn and smolder with light as he begins a path through the skies leaving a trail of searing light behind him. When faced with an invasion, most would try to face it head on. Left with no options, Rael is no different.

Faced with a leech, a spiritual vampire, he immediately sees- if not understands, what is happening. His people are withering, dying. The moment he closes on the aerial horseman, a tether appears out of his own chest. Only then does Rael truly understand. A voice in his mind invades his consciousness. You cannot stop this, you are weak, you are incapable . . . Surrender, give in. Let the dark take you, let the cold ensnare you . . . Darkness edges along his vision, and it is so comforting. Or would be, had he not looked down.

As he droops a bit, he sees how many of his people are suffering, and how many are about to lose their lives. Fury emboldens Rael beyond what he would think possible.
"No." Out of desparation, he races towards his people, taking position between them and the horseman. Using his light-based weapons, he slices through tether after tether, freeing his people. Each time he does so, the remaining tether leeches upon him. Proving a greater source of energy, the horseman is drawn to the greatest source available. Such is the nature of all vampric energies- to go to the greatest source.

With all his speed, the armor protecting him as much as it can, Rael severs all the lines he can see. He feels weak, as if he had just run a marathon. Turning to face the horseman, he sees a being focused totally upon the king of Celestials. That whisper is now a scream in his mind, and the darkness gives him tunnel vision- Famine is all he sees. Withdrawing his energies, his gauntlets become nothimg more than rods again. Rael's wings dim, and he begins to slowly descend. The line out of his chest is no mere hairline, but a thick rope of silvery light.

Then, the withdrawn king opens his eyes with a blue light- he enacts his power. The ability to command any being, any person, any energy to do his will save death. With the tether of his lifeforce feeding this monster, commanding is immediate and without any need for eye contact. He is more intimately connected with this demon than anything ever before. A line of light intertwines with the rope, enveloping the spirit like a chain going both around and through the being.
"l-L-Let your purpose be your fate, your hunger provide doom! Rather than take without regard, REMIT WHAT YOU CONSUME-UME-ume!!!" Reversing the flow, Rael's command compels this apparition to reverse it's nature . . . rather than steal lifeforce from others, the stored energies should now flow out of it like a flood.

The only thing Rael does not count upon is the nature of that flow. Famine stole energy from many, so the draw was not great or lethal to most. Now, there is only one connection- Rael. The monstrosity's compulsion to give now only has one direct route, to enter the Celestial King, and with his armor drawing energy from all around him, even if Rael could run . . . the horseman could not go anywhere but here.

(( Indrid designed Rael with the ability of command to any person to do anything but die. Therefore, I enacted that power to stop Famine, reversing it's draw. Rather than play the "I win, you ******** lose," card, I am drawing him in. Do nothing, and he will enter/corrupt Rael. Do something, and you still have a chance to save him somehow- or destroy him to be remade later . . . whatever you choose. I'll wait a day or two. ))
