As he had watched each of the younglings hatch, his attention was on the Blue as he made his way through the crowd to the stands. The steady young man noted the way the already strong creature took care, moving through the Candidates and found he approved.
A moment later, and he heard it.
Rafferty's eyes went wide at the cooling touch to his mind, before he let out a slow smile, shifting his large body to accommodate the dragonet. It appeared that he would be Ra'ffer now, and that suited him just fine.
"You are right, Kalth, I would like to watch the rest of the Hatching, as well."
Naturally narrowed eyes moved from his bond to the Sands, brow creasing at the sight of a rampaging bronze. It was good that His had left before injury, though he was quite sure that Kalth could stand up to such a creature if he wanted to.
Yes, Mine, all we can do now is wait. My brother's anger should abait soon.
-------
Things were getting bad, and Avery was feeling a mixture of emotions. Concern over whether Hers was here at all, anger at the stupidity of some of the new Candidates and their panic, and a lingering happiness for Uuni.
Her action, however, was to move away from the boy's section, out of caution rather than fear. She'd stood through many a blooding on the sands.

Perhaps the most impatient of adult dragons present was the great Kentoth himself. This son was not his, not really. But the public thought he was, and to see him behave this way... He wasn't sure how to feel. Should he be proud "his" offspring could be so strong and intimidating so early on, or disgusted with this mess?
Let him go, D'astel told his dragon. He felt their pain, both physical and emotional, but every candidate knew the risk when they stepped out onto the sands.
That risk just doubled. The Sunset Egg had finally had enough. The entrance of the brown was no more or less fierce than the bronze. He kicked his shell away, snarling, seeking out someone, but not His. Not yet.
There!
One loud cry and a good twenty plus feet of running, the brown had reached the bronze and tackled him without reserve. The pair broke out into a full blown fight, and no one was spared from the sounds unless they were completely deaf.
It was then the first bronze emerged fully from his shell. The once relaxed creature looked annoyed, if not angry, standing in front of the queen egg with a protective determination. Behind him, the Blinding Red Egg began to rock.

"He probably won't, if no one gets in his way. And if he does, who would want to volunteer to be victimized?" Bashir kept his tone reasonable. He also kept his eyes trained on the bronze, and not on Jaylin. Jaylin might be annoyed at him, but he was also a lot less likely to do him physical harm than the bronze was.
"It's also not our role to teach the dragonets the error of their ways. They'll discover that soon enough." Bashir had been standing at hatchings for about six turns. He, too, knew how badly they could play out. He refrained from mentioning it mostly because he didn't care to divert enough of his attention from the bronze's movements to have a full-on argument with Jaylin.
"Do whatever you want. It's your hide. But I think now would be a very bad time to intervene." The last part was directed toward Dashias, whose movement toward the bronze he'd just noticed.

Nathail's interest had certainly perked once the blue had made his Impression in the Stands, of all places. That was very new! He'd never seen such a thing before. A grin marks his face at this new development and the wait just seems so much easier now that something so refreshing and different had happened.
It gets wiped from his face though at the first angry screech of bronze. Well...if this turned out without any blood at all he'd pay a mark and a half to the nearest person. And unfortunately, there was. He can't help but cringe a bit as he sees the boy raked with angry, sharp claws. Ow.. there was no way at all that didn't hurt. The bronze had better find His and soon, maybe they'd calm him down.
Ad much excitement as an angry dragonet was, he wasn't in any mood to be trampled. By dragon or candidate alike.

"I have a feeling that it's going to be pretty hard to avoid from here on out." he answered Uuni with a returned grin.
Regadth sat up when she heard the screeching noise and the sounds of fear from people around. She was as brave as her rider...Yes. Moving closer to him and like a protective shield. She stopped her eating because R'ysan staring out to the bronze and watching the horror play out.
Inside, he knew he would have stood up to that dragonet's anger but right now with Regadth help he realized all the boy needed was his partner. Soon his hands slide around Regadth neck again. It was so strange to feel this attached as if life had just started anew.
Even so, the dark detailed part of his mind was discovering another piece to that second puzzle. Soon he'd have a pretty good idea of the whole picture.

This whole ordeal was ridiculous and it was clear people were going to do whatever they pleased despite her warnings. Nothing new there.
When Dashias made a move forward, Ayishia gave him a sharp "NO" and tried to point him away while still holding pressure on the cuts, but it wasn't to be. The sudden collide of brown on bronze so close was so absolutely terrifying that she screamed and instinctually tried to drag both Kamihan and Panata away by their robes. Flailing claws and biting fangs doubled meant that injury was almost guaranteed now to any foolish enough to step in. Horror was etched deep across her face as she recoiled from the pair of fighting hatchlings, too shocked to care that her hands, and robe now too, were marked with blood from the wounds she had been tending.
"Leave them!" she shouted to anyone stupid enough to try and advance to separate the males, forming a fist. If she had to punch someone to stop them, she just might do it. This was turning deadly.

Shards, the noises! Gyl covered his ears as the Brown exploded from his shell and began to fight with the raging Bronze, noting out of the corner of his eyes that the formerly still Bronze that had been in his egg now stood in front of the queen egg, looking distinctly determined.
Why wouldn't those two just stop fighting and find Theirs before they killed each other? Gyl didn't get why those two much be so angry when they had only just tasted life outside their eggs. It was really of no point, and the Candidate didn't see why they should have such animosity between them.
He also noted that surprisingly, he had been right about a Brown and a Bronze hatching next. Maybe a Green would emerge and shock him as well?

The entire spectacle was nothing short of spectacular. Sound pierced the chamber, adding to the already tumultuous sputterings of Bronzilla as the Sunset egg exploded with a fierce brown who leapt into immediate action, springing forth to tackle its brother. Claws and teeth and snarling and snapping, outlandish noise that took sibling rivalry to a new level. The brawl between the two Dragons thankfully took them slightly away from the Candidates, lending Amoreth a sigh of relief.
She stole a glance around the chamber, seeing the patient bronze now emerged from the safety of his shell to stand protectively before the Queen egg.. but just there, behind him, the vivid coloring of the Blinding Red egg shivered as if the egg were rocking. Oh, but it was rocking. It seemed all the excitement was too much to miss!
The very ground beneath her feet seemed to tremble with the strength of the mere hatchlings as they tore across the sands, fighting each other without mercy. One had to admire the show, and she herself would've were it not for more pressing matters. The boy was still bleeding profusely from his raked side, though he was keeping impressively cool about it. The rest of the eggs remained unbroken and unhatched, and the rest of the Candidates remained on the sands, unsure what to do about the brawling Dragons before them.

"Shards! No!" Zia scowled, this wasn't right, this was most certainly not happening! A boy mauled AND two dragonets fighting? She shook her head in disbelief. They were like little children playing in the Weyr bowl, they needed someone to scold them and put them in their places. Why were they not interested in finding theirs?
"This is ridiculous," she exclaimed, there were candidates all over the sands, she worried for their safety as well as her own. Wont those dragons' riders have a handful? Hopefully they would not be placed in the same wing, how on Pern would they be able to do weyrling lessons together?
"Stay calm," she told herself, as well as anyone within ear shot that might hear, "Stay calm." she repeated.

Panata did his best to move as a brown streak rushed past him and tackled the bronze, the movement causing him to have his vision blur and his side to throb with pain. He managed to stay on his feet, leaning against Kamihan for something of support, and slowly Panata turned to look at the massive ball of claws and wings.
"The. . . the dragons . . ."
His words were a whisper, barely making it past his lips, and his face grew paler with the passing phrase. Could it be that he was still worried for the Bronze that did this to him, or was he worried for the safety of the Brown that had just hatched? Either way he didn't seem like he wanted to move very far from either hatchling, and the hand that had supported his side seemed to swing outwards towards them. He had not noticed the first bronze moving, nor the rocking of the bright red egg, instead still focusing on the two.
"If we don't . . . they'll end up . . .they don't know any better, right?"
His voice sounded pleading.

Once satisfied that Panata wasn't about to collapse or bleed to death or anything, Kamihan calmed a bit, expression wavering between guilt and a look of forced reassurance.
This was his fault, wasn't it? Moving had attracted the bronze's attention towards him... and towards Panata. Faranth, but he hadn't known it would turn out like this...
The tall boy positioned himself so that he'd be between the warring dragonets and Panata and the other Candidate attending to his wounds. He didn't know anything about healing, he'd just make it worse if he tried... But he could make sure that if the bronze came back to finish the job, he'd have to go through Kamihan first.
///
Sharding deadglows! Why would you deliberately antagonize a dragonet who's already obviously angry?!
Neither the raging bronze nor the brown were his, Doremy was certain. Furthermore, they both seemed much more interested in trying to murder each other than in trying to Impress to anyone, and he wasn't about to try to pull some stupid hero move and try to stop them. So he backed up as surreptitiously as possible, making sure that he would not be front and center if either dragonet turned to charge the boys again.
He thought that dragons were supposed to be nonviolent! Was it possible that being a Candidate was just as dangerous -- if not more-- than minercraft?

Now it was getting crazy. Avery found her hazel eyes locked on the pair, amazed and shocked. That she hadn't seen before, two dragonets physically fighting each other at a hatching. Hissing, yes, posturing, yes, fighting? A resounding no.
She found herself taking a step forward and away from the panicking girls around her, trying to get a bit of a better view. Caution had to be taken, of course, but she didn't want to get pulled into the chaos and miss everything.

Clapping her hands over her ears she watched as the two dragons attacked eachother and started to fight, swinging her head around she watched as the first bronze finally came out of his shell and the blinding red egg started to show signs of hatching.
Glancing at the chaos that was going on over by the male candidate section and the two dragons locked in battle she looked around her not sure what she should do, if anything. Deciding that there was more then enough people focused on the fighting dragons Nadia inched closer to the eggs wanting to keep the unhatched dragons safe.

Watching from the stands, as he always did, A'ram's eyes were trained on his grandson. His eyes weren't what they once were, but Bashir wasn't difficult to pick out among the candidates with his Igen coloring and his curling black hair. He watched his grandson's mouth move and wondered who he was talking to. Candidates weren't supposed to talk on the sands. At least, that's what he had been told after he was Searched. If the rules had changed, he expected Bashir would have told him. How dare his grandson break the rules!
It didn't escape his notice, either, that a brown and bronze dragonet were fighting. Rath's horror echoed his own. He wanted nothing but the best for Bashir, but he didn't think either of those two was a good example. Bashir would be better off with a law-abiding blue or green than one of that unruly pair. As Rath pointed out, he did not want anything to do with either of them. A'ram firmly agreed.

"NO!" Hatchlings trying to kill eachother, betweening and leaving theirs to never know what could have been? He sent a very proud look to the bronze protecting the queen. That was a nice change in personality! No longer so timid when the queen egg was in danger. He wanted to rush forward but people were backing up, pushing him back with him. He growled in annoyance.
"Let me through please, excuse me, pardon me, so sorry.." He voice was not sorry at all as he past boys on his way to the sides of the crowd of male candidates. He'd circle around to the front, this seemed like one time when someone should interfere but he could do nothing yet until he was free from the sea of bodies.
