Kara nodded at this, "Yes I am and yes, Cindy is."

She smiled widely, it had occurred to her that Ruque probably knew her daughter quite well if Cindy had been keeping in contact with them. Though she had no idea what the past many years were like.

"Do you know her well? I know she's been studying here."

Ruque smiled and sat down on the floor, careful of the children who were playing.

"I have been studying with her," he said warmly. "With her and Rhea. The three of us have been studying many of the plants here, they are quite different from those in the Seconds' World. It's wonderful working with Cindy ... she really is a wonderful woman. You can be proud of her."

Kara smiled brightly at that, she was always proud of her children, it was just different to hear it from someone else.

"I'm glad you both get along so well," Kara replied, "I'm glad she's doing well here. Having someone from home to live here can be a bit nerving at times."

Ruque smiled. "Because by the time you come, you never know what might have happened since the last time you were here," he murmured. "The time here goes so quickly compared to your world ... anything could happen and you would have no idea for ... possibly decades."

He dressed like a punk, looked like a child, but had the wisdom of any adult. He was quite a young man.

He smiled warmly. "I'm sure Grandmama has the same worries about Papa and the rest of us."

Elnara smiled widely. She did. But she had faith that they would be all right. After all, this was the world in which she herself had grown up. She knew what it could be like.

Kara nodded at this, that had always been her worry even though she knew that like most stage growing children Cindy was just as well immortal.

"That is a good point, and I should get use to this I guess," Kara murmured, "Cindy is the first to really live away from home."

All of her other children lived close unlike Elnara's children. Though Lin will probably be child number two that will move away if things go like the way it seemed. She loved this world more than any other....

"That's what it is mainly."

Almost half an hour later, Celebor arrived with Rhea and Cindy in tow. Rhea of course would never let the opportunity pass her by to see Kara - she after all had been the one to first help Rhea control her magic, and Rhea had fond memories of the angel, even if she hadn't seen her much since then.

"Cindy look!" she squealed as they entered the playroom with everyone else. "The babies!"

Twenty five years old now, Rhea was excitable as she had ever been.

Cindy laughed, even after all these years Rhea's excitable nature did amuse her.

"Yes, yes I see oh and the Hana and Garrick have grown too," she smiled widely as she reached up to put a hand on Rhea's shoulder. It use to be the head when she was little but was as far as Cindy could reach.

Cindy on her part would have looked like a normal human woman living among elves if it weren't for her wings and tail.

Kara rose from her seat with Faith in her arms trying to grab at Kara's necklace, "Cindy!"

She padded over and pulled her (not so little) girl into a hug. It had been so long really, in fact they would probably be reaching a year soon if she was to guess.

"Hey," Toshiro waved with his free hand, is other was playing with Hope and trying not to be eaten at the same time.

"And Rhea..." Kara smiled looking up she hadn't seen Rhea since that first time, "You've grown."

Rhea giggled at Kara, holding her staff (which she was now as tall as) in one hand. "You do realize it's been twenty years, nearly," she teased, sounding for a moment almost like her grandfather. Certainly, neither of her parents were so excitable. "But it's wonderful to see you again, Kara. Welcome back." She leaned over and hugged Kara lightly.

"So it has," she giggled, "Oh... and Rhea I like you to meet the newest additions. This is Faith and I think Hope is nomming on Toshiro's hand."

She glanced to make sure her son was alright, sometimes she had to wonder since she knew Toshiro still liked to cat nap sometimes.

"She doesn't have teeth quite yet, I'm safe," Toshiro assured his mother, "Miyu is here too but she's with Aragost."

Rhea clapped her hands together excitedly. "You're going to have to visit us while you're here!" she beamed. "Mother and Father will be so pleased to see you all!"

Soon it was time for Celebor and Ruque to leave, and they took Corrah and Armus with them. The two would stay with Celebor's family until a cabin could be built for them. It would only be temporary, as it had been decided even before their arrival that a second barracks would be necessary, but it was the best they could do before the winter set in.

As everyone else sat down for dinner, Ahren and Arahad came home as well, and after greeting everyone the two went upstairs to wash. By this time, Ulani had also brought Donovan back inside, and headed home with Ulrich for their own dinner.

"So it looks like quite a trip this time," Elrohir commented as they began to eat. "Week and a half out, at least, and that's banking on good weather. Haradhel, what do you think?"

Haradhel looked out the window at the thin layer of snow on the ground outside. "I didn't smell anything," she said softly, "but I'll do what I can ... though there's only so much I can do."

"How many children is it this time?" Rhea asked curiously.

"Five," Ahren replied. "They don't seem to be taking as many children anymore ... I can only hope that it's a sign they're actually learning, rather than that this is a distraction of some sort to keep us from finding out about a bigger operation of some kind."

Donovan nodded slowly at this it had been a very long time since this place began perhaps they now knew better. He wasn't very hopeful though, it wasn't in his nature. Humans have a short life span compared to elves and other beings, short memories to go along with it. He should know he was one of them.

"Well either way," Kara murmured, "Hopefully this will go well. I packed for a cold trip in case we would come during the fall or later since it seems that is when we come anyways the last few times. What matters at the moment are these children...."

"I was thinking," Ahren spoke up hesitantly, looking at his mother, "that perhaps we should send some scouts out ... see what is going on, and find out if there is any activity that we should know about and don't. Find out if this is a diversion or what."

"Suicide mission is what you mean," Elrohir added darkly. "I don't understand these humans ... they don't even have a rebirth to look forward to."

Haradhel was looking at Ahren thoughtfully. "As much as I'm afraid for you," she said softly, "I agree with your idea ... it would be good for us to know for sure whether or not they have another plan, one intended to fool us and circumvent our involvement. And it being your idea, I'm sure you would insist on being the one to go."

"I propose that I take others with me," Ahren nodded. He turned to Donovan. "It would be best to go when you and the others are on a hunt ... though that will leave us nearly defenseless at home."

Rhea frowned at that. "I disagree. Everyone here, with the exception of Mother and the younger children is well able to fight and defend. Just because we don't have a job as a fighter doesn't mean that we can't fight."

She herself was quite proud of her abilities.

Donovan had to agree with Elrohir on that one, after all the slavers were in this for the gold, why die for this? On the other hand he also had to agree with Rhea.... though he wasn't just thinking about her. There were others of course, though he didn't like the idea of there being an attack on Haven with everyone else away.

It seemed even with Haven's growth there just wasn't enough people still if they wanted to find out more information.

"I don't like the idea...." Donovan admitted, "But I'm afraid I'll have to agree to the reason why it needs to be done. While kids are kids, if they have a bigger operation Haven does need to know. Otherwise the whole thing is counterproductive and they're just giving us busy work. Granted for people who are in this for the money it sounds strange they're willing to die as bait, but...." he nodded a bit, "They could also be hiring people without telling them the job and by the time they find out it's too late to back out."

Or they might not know of Haven's reputation of killing only slavers who knew? He didn't know how these people thought.

"Either way... that information is needed, so... I'll agree with Ahren on this one."

Though it was obvious Donovan wasn't happy about the idea, while he did agree with Rhea he also was worried someone could be watching. If anyone found out that Haven had most of its fighters gone, it didn't matter who was here to fight, it made the place a tempting target.

Haradhel obviously wasn't too pleased the plan either, but she would be the first to admit that it was necessary.

"So who's going with on the hunt?" she asked. "I suppose from there we can see who can go with on the scouting mission, and from there set up who's going to be defending Haven and the valley."

Since they were two separate areas that needed protecting.

"There are five children that need rescuing, but they have ten men guarding them," Elrohir mused. "So if Donovan goes with Celeborn, Celebor, Timaeus, Haldir, Caranthir and Bronwë, then Ahren can take Arthael, Leith, Boudwin, and Halmir. That leaves me, Arahad, Elberon, Haradhel, Aragost, and the rest of the fighters to split our time between here and the valley, and of course the valley has Ulrich, Ulani, Aliya, Adonijah, Ruran, Ruque, Aras, Kanis, Adanedhel, Rhea, Cindy, Ecthelion, Kadmiel, Adwin and Amdir to take care of the valley."

He paused. "Perhaps the valley can take care of itself, and we can take care of the ranch."

"And Aerin will also be around, once she's found her dragon," Rhea added.

Ten men were a lot for just five children, Donovan couldn't help but think but seeing as how Haven changed the face of slavery, it was probably needed now. He filed asking about normal slaver numbers as something to ask later in his mind.

Cindy smiled a bit, "When one really has thought about it the valley has expanded a lot. You're right though, those of us who live in the valley should be fine with just all of us if we keep a more closer eye out. It's no longer the empty place I remembered when I first came here."

That was a long time ago back when Aliya and her brother was young. Adoni in fact had only been a toddler at best if she recalled correctly.
