I ain't givin' in,
no matter how hard th' fight
before me
looks t' be!

Leon was noogied... again. How much could that happen in one night, he wondered. And it was odd to be speaking with a female so... casually? Usually he had to be so formal around them, calling them "Milady" and such. Not Annis. Maybe girls that were 'just one of the guys' were true fairy tales after all.

And then her subject changed to Ghis. From what the Lieutenant read of him in his records, the man had quite unique answers when he was given his interview. Not that it mattered, as Leon also knew of the bribes going on before the time of FEF, and still... Ghis's answers fascinated him. It seemed appropriate to bring them up. "Well, fro' wha' I read... might be diff'ern't than Charice saw... but... Cap'n Ghis's sense o' justice's... not typ'cal."

He eyed Charice for only a moment, as if to get confirmation from her to continue to say what the records exposed. Of course, since he wasn't scowling, "unique" was good in this case.

Shinon was thinking deeply. The party seemed to dissolve around him. Sight, sound, and sense of smell seemed to have disappear. He muttered to himself "Memories," His mind seemed to be strange and void. Nothing.

Heath threw away the idea. A bit surprised, he said, "Well dang, chocolate cake is out the door. Are you okay...?" No answer was given. Just resumed as it was before.

He gawked his surroundings, which no one was in hearing distance of. The pillars had not been shared love by much. Getting any help was iffy, and walking away was pretty easy... Yeah, walking away...

Movements were made, and soon Heath was standing. He moved back towards the food table, and grabbed the entire chocolate cake that was untouched. It was brought back to Mihira, and placed upon the floor 6 inches away. It wasn't exactly no strings attached, however.

Charice's face turned neutral as the topic of conversation turned to Ghis. For Leon and Annis, it was all well and good that they should talk about him, but Charice... was on duty, and Ghis was her employer. Saying things about him here was at best unprofessional and at worst... well, she doubted she'd actually be kicked off the force, but here?

...But then again, since when did he care?

"Not typical? ...I guess you... could say that," Charice said, nodding. "I haven't known him for that long--only a year and a half ago. My family and I came up from Sentria in search of a more mild climate... they were getting a bit old for desert life, you see. And with us came my pegasus, and being a flying fighter, I could pass off as a Pegasus Knight. And..." she puffed up a bit with pride. "Maybe the castle guard thought nothing of me, but Ghis did. Eyris had no fliers--I was green, but Ghis said that the fact that I was something nobody else was would be good enough.

Oh, but I guess that doesn't answer the question," she added, putting a hand on her chin in thought. "He's tough to understand, and... I wasn't sure he was a good captain in my early days in the guard. He seemed kind of lethargic, uncaring about what went on. Ever since FEF showed up, though, I think he's found new purpose." Her face brightened. "He may still not be the best choice for parties like this, but... he's odd, but cool."

User ImageThe hands I'd kept clean
Now look dirty
Before I can doubt my memories
My memories are doubting me...

Annis nodded once. It was one thing to make assumptions, but another entirely to receive information directly from the source. Besides, it never hurt to know more about the people around you. It could be useful later on in life; even little details could become vital in the right situation.

"I could see the not-typical quality from the get-go, but like I've said, I don't know him myself." Annis flicked her hair off of her face, one elbow leaning comfortably against Leon's shoulder. So much for not using him as an armrest, ne?

She listened attentively to Charice's explanations, finding herself interested in the girl's previous life. It surprised her, in a way; she hadn't expected that much backstory, but it was certainly intriguing. "I wouldn't have pegged you as being from a desert environment. You're paler than I am." She grinned, though, to show that no harm was meant.

Annis was silent for the rest of Charice's explanation, nodding at the end. "I see. Well, people who are altogether normal are... boring. So the way I see it, things never get stale in your company, do they?" Annis glanced over at the the green-haired man kneeling near a orange-haired girl laying on the ground. Asleep, or unconscious? It was hard to tell. Annis looked back to Charice. "As long as you like him. That's what matters, after all, not my opinion. I don't work for you guys. At least with solo work, you don't have a boss breathing over your shoulder."

Roy looked at his mother for a few moments, trying to read her emotions. He then sighed.

"Alright Mother...but promise me if you start feeling pain again, you'll sit down and rest." he told her softly.

He cared about his mother, but he respected her decisions. He wasn't going to force her to do anything she didn't want to do. He then looked over at Uncle, who was currently with FD.

"Hey FD...or should I start calling you Uncle FD?" he asked with a grin. "When's the wedding? If I happen to be in the neighborhood during my quest, I'll be sure to show up."

He then heard Mel coughing behind him, probably from hearing him call Ninian his mother. But she had already stopped coughing before he could give her a few whacks in the back.

He then heard a voice behind him and looked over his shoulder. The redhead swordman had introduced himself as Joshua, and he had already went his own way before Roy could say anything more.

The young lord then took a look around. More people had shown up, and were in their own separate groups. Leon and two females were talking (heh...since when did Leon become a stud? He must have learned a few things since the Tura incident), Isadora was watching a flipped-over salad bowl (what was under there? W--was it moving?! What the hell was in Tibarn's cooking if it caused it to shake like that?!), Victoria, Blossom, and two males appeared to be chatting pleasantly not far off, Soren and Fa were off to the side, and Ganon and a female Nagini were ero-dancing on the floor (could it be called ero-dancing? he wasn't sure).

He looked back at his family and smiled gently.

~Ninian~

"I'll be alright, Nils," she assured her brother, hating to see the pain in his face as he saw her holding her side. She just needed to listen to the healers and take it easy. Maybe she should sit down before she hurt herself again, even though it wasn't on purpose.

Something about that train of thought seemed familiar. Ninian stared past her family and FD as her mind wandered. . . .

I was given this . . . but for what purpose? I can't use it . . . I do not know how . . . All I am doing is hurting myself. Not that anyone would care. . . .

Her hand twitched. Nils said something, but Ninian did not hear him.

Maybe I should end this . . . before I hurt myself any further. . . . But won't I be hurting myself even more if I do that?

A flash of green, held up by brown, tainted by falling dark blue shards. A white trail blazing a path through it all, the path changing colors almost too fast to follow. Underneath it all, the reed of blood marred her feet even as she sent the shimmering fabric sailing high into the sky once more.

Briefly she shuddered.

What does it matter anymore?

"But hurting yourself only hurts those who love you even more, dear."

Ninian gasped softly. Hadn't someone told her that only recently? One of the healers perhaps? She couldn't remember, just like she could not remember anything after she had received Briseschal from Ganon so many months ago.

"Hello, Ninian. Uh, good to see you," FD said, his voice cutting into her thoughts.

She smiled slightly, about to say hello to the dragon in human form. But hadn't she said that already?

"Alright Mother...but promise me if you start feeling pain again, you'll sit down and rest," Roy said gently.

"I-I will," she replied, hoping her voice wasn't shaking too badly.

But what was this? What had Roy just said to FD? He was calling him uncle now? When had that happened? FD was getting married? But to whom? Roy hadn't said--

She froze.

"N-Nils? You a-and FD are--?" Ninian stammered, tripping over the words in her surprise. "I--I had no idea--Con-congratulations!"

One thing was for certain: she would be getting to know FD a lot better in the days to come.

"I don't believe that the ceremony is quite... official yet, these two haven't set a date." Sue said, taking a few lessons from the other Learanians and lightly punching FD and Nils on the shoulders, not enough to harm them, it was more like a playful 'love tap' than a punch. She was grinning while doing so. "And I'm sure you'll be a maid of honor, Ninian.. I'd like the position myself, being Host Club, but..."

Sue was surprised to find herself talking so much more than last year, and so much faster. The nomad hoped she was being understood, but this was how all Learanian girls gossiped, wasn't it? Fast and to the point. "Well, I like my nomadic robes, as you can see. Learanian dress... like Lycian dress makes me feel... funny. However, I can let them pass under a sacred sword for the great Hanon's protection."

~~~~
"Sentria, eh?" Leon too was taken by surprise that another thing he'd read in the record books was in fact, true. There had been plenty of cases of fraud in the Guard and the Watch's early days, part of which he was once involved with the cover-ups of. However, with the new laws passed (and people actually taking them seriously or thus they'd lose commissions), even Leon had to find himself turning over a new leaf. Of course there were those who wanted to keep the better-looking records (even if the information was false). Anyone with common sense could guess where they ended up. "Yeah, I 'member yer records I read, Charice. Seems like ya were one o' th' only honest 'uns back in th' ol' days." The Lieutenant winked.
"Tha's all I'll say 'bout tha' now." He added. No way was Leon going to go into the outrageous things some of the older members had him add to their records of achievement so they could look more qualified for promotions. Indeed, even the supposed 'law abiding citizen' Leon was a bit corrupt, but who wasn't in Eyris? Besides, like his superiors and subordinates alike, the man was reforming out of an honest change of heart. "Let's jus' say, tha' wha' I was asked t' do sounded saintly compar'd t' what I was asked t' do in m' homeland." And that indeed was honest. He wouldn't say anymore unless they asked... indeed, since Charice said everything there was to say about his... other superior, the subject of Ghis was completely out of Leon's mind.
Lance raised an eyebrow. Maybe he just misheard, but Ed made it sound like Ganon and the snake woman were actual humans. As she continued, she mentioned Ganon's actual race. So what she had meant was that they were human as in demeanour. Lance gritted his teeth, maybe he was just still a bit annoyed. But he didn't especially enjoy indirectly getting called possibly inferior, just because of his...heritage. "...you make it sound like humans are of better standards than, err, what Ganny is. I know you don't mean it like that, but it's a bit arrogant to assume that humans are of some sort of higher standing."
He paused as he leaned backwards and looked up at the ceiling. "...then again, there aren't that many other norms explaining it. Maybe sentient...but it's not important, not really." Lance shrugged as he finished.
Lance watched as Ganon and his lady-friend started dancing. He got more convinced that the red-head was actually part of the race he and Ed discussed about before when they did, as she moved too naturally for it to be a costume. Lance felt his feet wanting to tag along. It had been a while since he danced himself, especially to music like this. His whole body started tingling at the very thought of it. But he didn't really want to go up to the dance floor alone; that'd look tragic. And he couldn't really just ask a semi-stranger to dance with him, especially not when they'd be out-grooved in mere seconds by those two, whose bodies didn't follow the regular laws when it came to dancing.
Ah well. Another time.
"I used to be a dancer once. I could've gone professionally, but it didn't quite work out. I still get down once in a while, but only for fun. It also comes with my current profession to know how to dance from time to time. What about you? You like to dance?" Lance spoke again, just trying to keep the conversation from dying.
((Forgot to log out.))Bozo squealed as the mean humie chucked her into a bowl of salad. Was humie-lady trying to feed Bozo? But Bozo didn't like getting thrown into the bowl, Bozo would've eaten if humie-lady just asked nicely.
Then it went dark.
Bozo looked around in a state of panic. Why did the lights go out? Bozo did not know. Bozo tried to figure it out. Did humie-lady flip the bowl? Bozo tried tackling out of the bowl. Nothing happened, only Bozo's head hurt. Bozo's eyes started leaking water. And then, Bozo started crying helplessly from inside the bowl. "Boyooooo~!"
Bozo started shivering in the dark. Bozo was afraid of the dark. That's why Master always kept Bozo close during the nights, so Bozo would not be afraid. But now Master wasn't here. Bozo wanted to call for him, but the bowl blocked out most of the sound, and it echoed inside, scaring Bozo. But Bozo still kept on crying, because Bozo was afraid. Bozo kept on crying weakly, hoping the light would come back, as tears kept rolling down Bozo's cheeks.
I've been dreaming for so long...
(( Hey, Joshua? The Abel post was directed at me, not Derrin. Can you please edit your post on page 10? :3 Thank you~ ))
Akihi sighed to himself, watching the other party-goers interact with each other. It was lonely, standing by himself, but what could he do, really? He could have gone and followed Alihi, but then he would have felt almost like a barnacle, and damn it, he was his own person! On the other hand, it seemed almost like intruding to go up to one of the groups and spontaneously introduce himself. That was something he wasn't willing to do, especially in a situation where he knew no one except his sister and niece. He sighed again, rubbing his forehead as if trying to ease a headache. ... How did I let myself be convinced to come here?
The male Kaua twin didn't have the time to dwell on that thought more, for he was soon forced to the floor. He let out a small yelp of surprise, wincing in pain when his back smacked against the ground, causing all his breath to be knocked out of him. Akihi blinked for a few moments before reality settled back in and he realized why movement was so hard.
"A-ah!!" He yelped again, using his hands to push up against the man laying on top of him. "W-who are you? Get off!"
The secret of life...
... Why am I here to try again?
Gah, I'm trying, stop... pushing, dang it!" Although, if he stopped flailing around, it probably would make it a lot easier, despite being pushed up. But, Abel is well... Abel, so he continued to awkwardly flail, which caused the hand pushing him up to slide up and hit him in the face. "Hey, wh-agh eff fuur hanrrt et mah frrrsh!" He yelled out, though it was quite the unrecognizable language, what with a hand in his face.
Eventually, he managed to prop himself up and roll off to the side. He sat there, and put a hand to his face, rubbing it slightly. "Ow... owow... Geeze, you didn't have to hit me." He said, in a condescending tone. "Though, I guess it was my fault... Sorry." After apologizing, he stood up, and offered a hand to help up the one he hit, as well.
Akihi blinked and, with the help of the hand, pulled himself back up on his feet. "I-it's alright..." He mumbled softly, brushing off his robe. "I-I should apologize as well, for hitting you..." His hand rose and he rubbed the back of his neck nervously. "So... uhm... sorry..." He smiled sheepishly, feeling more and more shy by the moment. That was not how he wanted to meet someone! It was just too awkward for the already shy and socially awkward mage to handle!
Amara blinked. Was that...? "Aki~!" She grinned and ran up to her uncle, slamming into his legs and hugging tight.
"Wa-waugh!!" He flailed his arms around desperately, trying to keep his balance. The last thing he needed was to fall on his butt again. That would have hurt in more than one way. "A-Amara! Don't startle me like that...!" He pressed a hand against his beating heart, looking down at Amara with a wide expression.
Amara just smiled brightly and innocently up at her uncle. "Okay~" She patted Akihi's knee a few times before finally noticing Abel. "It's yooooou!" The little girl pointed at him, mouth open in an "o" shape.
Shinon was still lost in thought when he heard a yell. He looked up at Akihi and sighed. He got up and looked at the food that was being served. Shinon grabbed a plate and put some food on it, he took a bite and sat down again.
User ImageTibarn was in his best suit, and his ceremonial scarf to boot. Balls if he'd let one of Vaida's nasty meatballs stain it! He had no idea what was in them, and had no real desire to learn.
On the other hand, he'd defend the sanctity of his kitchen to the death. Thinking quickly, he grabbed a raw habañero from the counter for the salsa and cracked the skin to start the juices flowing before holding it up, ready to throw. "Your move. You don't want this anywhere near your face or... or your anywhere, actually. From this distance, I bet I could bounce it off your nose and into your cleavage." Granted, it would be hard to miss her cleavage.
User ImageDietrich smirked, lifting the glass to his lips for another sip. "Probably shouldn't have hit the bar before coming here, but whatcha gonna do," he said, mostly to himself as Arashe spoke, then perked up and put on false airs of indignation. "I take offense to that, sir!" he said, loud enough to disturb nearby couples enough that they'd all look over and stare at Arashe and try to figure what he'd done that was so offensive.
Then, with a smug little smirk, the axeman drained his drink. "As I was saying, I've never made a fool of anyone in my life. I'm not smart enough!" He winked. "Anyway, you're the one who went and suggested I should come out here like you wanted me to meet someone. The other day, right?" He started to lift his glass, then remembered it was empty and lifted a fist to his mouth to stifle a burp instead.
"So which of these fine ladies was it you wanted to match me up with? 'Cause I gotta tell you, just from me, you know," he said, gesturing vaguely at the doors and nearly dropping his glass, "Walkin' in here tipsy and still sweaty from training earlier, it is not lookin' like good prospects for me. 'Specially with this one," he added, draping an arm suddenly over Tristai's back. Oh ew ew, it was still sweaty! "I mean, you got all your humpin' an' dumpin' experience, and you can't even get this one to hold her hand still? 'Course maybe she's got a tic," he added, turning his head and squinting as if to examine Tristai closely for any odd, spastic movements. He still smelled like whiskey.
"... Whoa," he said, suddenly noticing, "Broad's got one eye."
