The crowd slowly started to thin around them, people finishing their games and leaving. Jarred walked up behind Kat, putting two quarters into the game. "Did you ever get much of a chance to do this kind of thing?" He smiled, standing to the side of the game.

Kat smiled as the game started up, and moved to the buttons and the joystick. "Not since I was eight, no." She fired off several shots at the offending aliens while trying to figure out some of the controls. She wasn't familiar with the game, and hadn't played any game for a good long time, so it didn't take her long to reach the large bold letters of "GAME OVER." Despite a few changes of the emotions on her face, she kept a smile throughout.
She gave the game a small pat, before glancing back over at Jarred, "So why are you closing down the arcade?"

"For a few reasons, but ultimately, the dilemma we find ourselves in is the real reason. I'm not closing it for good, I just don't want to have to manage it if we're on the run." Jarred shrugged innocently. "Hate for my something bad to happen to my store while we save the world."

Kat nodded, leaning against one of the arcade games, "fair enough. I suppose I wouldn't trust my store in the hands of a couple teenagers either." She glanced around, noting only a few people were left, most of the noise associated with an arcade disappearing. "So do you have a favorite?" She asked, her eyes browsing over the various games from a distance.

"The old classic, pong." He said, motioning to a machine nearby. The last of the people left, Rick walking up.
"Hey man, anything else you need to talk about before I close up?"
Jarred shook his head. "It's fine, I can close up. Take care Rick, I'll call Bill and tell him later, alright?"
Rick nodded, making for the exit quick.
Jarred shook his head, turning back to Kat.

Kat let out a small laugh and moved towards the classic. "Really now? I suppose I remember playing this one every now and then, but really?" She looked at the machine a moment then glanced back at Jarred. "What is it that appeals to you? The simplicity?...or the hidden complexity?"

"Nostalgia? And maybe a bit of elitism." He said, walking past it to lock the doors, turning the sign to closed. "For all the fancy doodads they put in games today, it can never beat such a simple classic such as pong." He pulled out a quarter. "Want to play?"

Kat smiled walking up to him and taking the quarter, her hand brushing past his in the process. "Just promise not to let me win out of some gentlemanly gesture, all right? I always hated that." She turned back to the game, slipping the quarter in, and stepping partly to the side to let him have access to the second player's controls.

"I'm not that much of a hero." He smiled, stepping next to her, their sides touching. The game started and the ball dropped, moving across the board and Dunham wasn't sure how interesting typing out a game of pong was so decided to let ED decide who won.

"No one should be that much of a hero." Considering Kat hadn't played video games in something like fifteen years, Jarred won, though after getting a bit of a hang of the game again, Kat did give him a run for his money. Kat smiled, having had fun with the game despite the loss. She stepped back, "Anything else you need to do before heading back?" She asked, scanning her eyes over the arcade. She wasn't sure if she'd get a chance to come back to one, or even get another chance to just relax for a period of time, so savored the moment while she could.

He shook his head. "Just hit the power and make sure everything's locked." He smiled, heading towards the employee only door, motioning for her to follow him. The back room was just a large room, a few arcade games, out of commission up against a wall, a few more new ones in boxes.

Kat followed after him, glancing at some of the new games and some of the old. Then pushed up a few paces to catch back up with Jarred. "A little frightening back here in a way," she said, never having been a particular fan of back rooms.

Ruby St.Claire Kat followed after him, glancing at some of the new games and some of the old. Then pushed up a few paces to catch back up with Jarred. "A little frightening back here in a way," she said, never having been a particular fan of back rooms. "It's not so bad, if you don't mind flat gray walls and racks of junk." He smiled, walking over to a row of switches. He flipped a few, the lights in the room dimming, the lights in the other room shutting off completely. "Can you see alright?" He asked, walking back towards her. "I have a flashlight if you need it."

"You mean your eyes don't glow?" Kat asked, though her joke didn't make much sense even to her. She reached out and took a hold of his arm to get a sense of placement while her eyes adjusted a little more. "I think I can make it out all right, so long as there's no junk in my path."

"We should be clear." He said, walking with her to the employee door, out onto the floor. The game consoles were shutting down, leaving a faint glow on their screens that slowly died down, giving enough light to see the way to the door.
