((Speaking of the deception of appearances, I was at a Shiai this past Sunday (one of the reasons I've been so busy) and I had to fight one of our toughest black belts, Mr. Neusch. I'm a Shodan (1st degree black belt) and he's a Nidan (2nd degree) which doesn't seem like a lot but in black belt it is. Also, he's 20 and an expert wrestler with big muscles.... I looked puny next to him (I'm thin and lanky just like Death). I enter the fight expecting to loose so I decide to fail gloriously and try my best anyway. I WAS SO CLOSE!!!! He just barely beat me and after the fight one of the judges said I would of won if I hadn't kicked his elbow. Oh yeah!! Now some people are afraid to fight me because I'm up at Mr. Neusch's level, but that's OK. Yeah, so I just wanted to share that.))
Death hadn't thought of exactly who would be fighting who. The only thing he intended was that they'd all fight, but teams or what? He didn't know. "Umm..." Death thought out loud. "Well a free-for-all is fun but a little messy, and even teams would be uneven since I'd have to be on one, so let's just have you guys beat me up. Sound fair?" Death took a step back from the group to show he was a group of his own.

"Not really," Kenji said as he smiled at Death with a look of calm bemusement on his face, "...but it doesn't seem like it'd be fair in any instance, so I guess this is as close as it's gonna get. Just give us a few second shere to cook up our master strategy." Kenji turned to his teammates and pulled them off to the side to discuss some quick strategy in a circle before taking Death on. if he was a leader of the village, odds are he was rather strong, and the three of them would need a good strategy to win.
"Alright ladies...what's the plan here? I think that if we all attacked him at the same time, we'd just end up hurting ourselves. Perhaps if you two played off of your strengths, and I played off of mine, which is defense and protection, we could work well as a team. What do you think?"

"Sounds good, well I'm more of the healer/speed/stealth type so I'll be good for covering the field. And if I remember correctly, Kyoma-chan you're more offensive correct? If I'm right than that means we've pretty much balanced each other out. All that's left is positions." Haruko whispered to the group as she considered their strenghts and weaknesses.

"Well, if I can have a little time to myself to get several techniques ready, that would be best. How about Kyoma lead the attack, and I will follow close behind, and ready a few techniques. Haruko, you can stay behind and offer support from a distance, then close with speed when you see an opening. How does that sound to everyone?"
Kenji looked around at the other two for approval of his plan, but was willing to accept better ideas if they had them.

Kyoma nodded her head. "Yeah, I'm pretty good at both defense and offense. I'm just not as good with the strategizing. So just tell me what to do, and I'll do my best." She smiled at them, keeping her voice as small as she could. "But remember Haru-chan, Death-sensei knows most of our strengths and weaknesses." She then shifted her eyes to Kenji, giving him a small smirk. "You're at an advantage here Kenji, he barely knows anything about you."

Haruko nodded in agreement, "What Kyoma-chan said is correct but by working as a team, we'll be able to help cover up each other's weaknessess. That's the whole point of being in a team. So lets show Death-sensei that we can be one of the best teams out there." Haruko said with a big smile on her face.

"Alright then...let's do it!...and let's hope that advantage gives us the air of surprise vs. him. , but let's put some distance between us first...we'll need the time to prepare." After leading the others about 50 feet down the field from Death, Kenji turned around and screamed out to him..."Alright Death-sensei! Get Ready! Here we come!"
Kenji bade Kyoma forward, and he soon followed after her as they both charged at Death, Kenji formed several hand seals, ending in one and holding it as they ran forward, speaking under his breath..."Suiton: Ijou Shikke" As the technique took place, Kenji was able to draw a sizeable amount of water from the air, making the air in the area rather dry as the water pooled on his back to hide it from Death. After that, he formed another seal as the water behind him turned into 2 Mizu Bunshin clones as they appeared, one in front of him, and the other behind, as they sprinted forward quickly, overtaking Kyoma and running towards Death with kunai drawn.

Kyoma smirked as Kenji's Bunshin overtook her. She made a few handsigns, ending on one and creating a clone. She then put chakra into her feet, jumping high into the air while her clone charged for Death. She reached into her pouch with her right hand, and grabbed four shuriken, aiming for Death's arms. After throwing the shuriken, she did a couple of more handsigns and took out her kunai, aiming straight for his shoulder as she flew towards him.

"Olé!" As Kyoma's shuriken flew at Death, he pulled his scarf up in front of himself, acting like a bull fighter... except he was behind the red cloth. Normally, Death would activate the seals in his scarf and the projectiles would simply bounce off; however, something unexpected happened....
The shuriken hit the scarf and they pinned it to the ground, Death no longer under it. The quick unsheathing of one of Death's katanas could be heard behind them all. The end of the blade touched lightly against Haruko's back as a warning that he was there. Death whispered, "Don't move," lightly enough so that just Haruko could hear. Death had warped behind their defenses and into a power position. Now was when Death's spontaneous cunning took its stand.
Death spoke loudly, making sure everyone could hear. "I bet you didn't see that one coming, now did you?" Death shone with overconfidence and pride, very glad of what he just did. "This is why I fight purely on improve. In my opinion plans take too long to think about and they can be totally ruined when somebody does something unexpected, like this! It's just trouble for me, so I just make it up as I go. And when something works, I repeat it."
Death whispered to Haruko again. "Speaking of past successes, you'll join me and get rid of those pesky clones your teammates made if you know what's good for you." Death put slight pressure on his katana to Haruko's back, just as encouragement. It wouldn't cut her but it would help compel her to react. Death was curious what she'd do. Would she abandon her comrades so quickly? Or would she give up the fight and forfeit? Maybe even something else. It was all so interesting to him, the psychology of war.

Haruko watched as the shirikens neared Death and began prepartions for her attack, 'Lets see how he handles those earth spikes again.' The moment the shirikens connected, Haruko prepared to form the handsigns when she suddenly felt Death's katana on her back. 'He's quick to react just like before.' Haruko heard Death's command and decided to wait for a bit to see what he would do.
Haruko almost laughed when she heard Death command her to go against her teammates. She felt him push the katana closer as if to intiminate her into complying but Haruko knew better then to switch sides the very moment her life was in danger so she just shook her head at Death. "Sorry Death-sensei but I know better than to switch sides at the face of danger. And in case you've forgotten, I'm not just some weak helpless medic on the sidelines. I'm also capable of fighting for myself." As soon as those words left her mouth, Haruko dropped down on all fours while leaning a bit foreward to avoid getting cut by the katana. Once she was on all fours, she quickly spun her left leg around as she aimed a sweepkick for Death's legs.

Kyoma threw her kunai on the ground where Death had stood. She let her hands connect to the earth, doing a back flip to get a correct landing. She quickly picked up her kunai, letting her eyes search for Death.
She almost gasped in surprise as she saw him suddenly appear behind Haruko, holding a katana in his hand against her back. Kyoma bit her lip, but immediately grinned. Haruko is stong, she knows more than just medical ninjutsu. Her smile grew as she watched Haruko go down on all fours, swinging her leg for Death's.
Kyoma's clone stood by her, smiling just as she was. After whispering something in her clone's ear, she put more chakra into her feet, suddenly appearing a couple of yards behind Death. She did several handsigns, then punched the ground directly below her. Nothing happened at first, but soon roots and vines grew out of the ground, all flying to Death.

The second he saw that Death was no longer in front of them, Kenji was immediately struck with the fear that they had already failed. He quickly turned to see what Haruko was doing, only to see Death directly behind her, holding his sword to his back. "Damn...he's fast, and we were so easily separated. Not exactly a good first maneuver...maybe this plan wasn't so good after all." Feeling like a complete idiot for running so far away from Haruko, Kenji immediately ran backwards, controlling his bunshin behind him to follow and run directly beside him.
As he got about half way towards Haruko, he saw that she had ducked to all fours and thrown a sweep kick at Death. "We need to give Haruko some cover...if he is really as fast as that, we need to attack where he could move to escape or dodge." Gripping the hilt of his blade, Kenji formed a series of single hand seals as electricity began to jump off of his arm in threads before collecting to his hand as he outstretched his finger and pointed it directly above Haruko. His clones copied his movement exactly, creating the same visual effects, and the same technique...though their lightning would be only a phantom image, incapable of doing harm. each hand opening up a single outstretched finger, a bolt of lightning about 1 foot in length streaked forth, coming off of Kenji's finger and flying directly towards Death's chest, about a foot above Haruko. The other two shots would go to the left and right of Death, hopefully limiting his options to counterattack or dodge Haruko's attack.

Haruko had made the right choice, she knew what had to be done even if it was risky. Death's quick reaction time played in as he jumped straight up to avoid being swept. His left foot lightly tapped Haruko's leg, but it wasn't anything that would throw him off balance. His jump was short, he had brought his knees to his chest and his arms outward, a stationary jump.
Landing warily to avoid a followup attack from Haruko, Death noticed that everyone had moved around. Not to mention there were vines attacking him from behind and lightning from the front. The lightning was too fats to dodge by it's nature but was an easy block for Death. The vines and roots could also be taken care of easily thanks to his powers.
Subtlety was never one of death's strengths. Most of the time he acted bluntly and upfront. This, however, was a battle which meant deceit. At the near last second (which didn't take too long) a small circle of black electricity formed upon Death's chest, hidden behind his shirt. Kenji's electricity attack appeared to make perfect contact with Death's chest. Death even acted out what the normal reaction would be by falling back and twitching slightly with a pained look on his face. Kenji's attack left a singe on Death shirt but that's as far as it got. Death's circle of protection saved him.
Pretending he had been hit, Death fell backward into Kyoma's attack. He pretended to be unconscious, not caring that the vines and roots would trap him. He slumped like a rag-doll to the ground, making a nice "fwump" sound when he hit. Death even loosened his grip on his katana and let it fall to the ground next to him. Death once again began to wonder what his playmates would do next. Would they trap him completely? Maybe they'd keep throwing attacks at him. Or they might do what his old friend Ino did once and go to his aid. Although something told him that the last one wouldn't happen, especially from Haruko.

Haruko watched as Death jumped to avoid her sweepkick, 'Good, he took the bait.' Once she was sure Death was in the air and most likely be unable to hurt her, Haruko rolled away. Haruko rolled a few feet away before standing up again and focusing on Death. Haruko watched as Kenji's lightening attack and Kyoma's vine attack goes after Death. Placing a hand on her kusarigama, Haruko waited to see Death's reaction.
When she saw Death get hit by both Kenji's and Kyoma's attack, Kyoma was shocked. 'That's not right, Death-sensei couldn't be taken down that easily. At least not by such simple attacks, something's up. I should warn the others but, it'll be too risky to voice out my concerns. Hopefully the others know better than to attack.' Haruko watched as the vines continue to wrap themselves around Death. 'Hm...if this is a trap, it'll be best to attack from a distance. Okay, let's try this.' Forming a few handsigns, Haruko ended in a earth seal before slamming both palms on the ground. "Doton:Tsuchi Supaiku no Jutsu(Earth Spike)." The earth around the vines rumbled a bit before earth spikes began appearing from all directions.
