A Gift?
Silva
Silva had a small creature tucked under his arm like a football as he walked across the yard. He had a determined look on his face as he went, as if he was forcing himself to do something that he didn't really want to do.

"Flowers..." He muttered around his toothpick. "Make sure you burn the damn things, would you?" He asked the small creature, earning a sleepy wide-mouthed yawn.

He slipped through the gap in the fence, looking around. If she wasn't there, he thought, he could just leave it on her step. And then she would have to deal with the evil little b*****d burning down her porch, too. The thought made him grin wickedly.

Ruya
Unfortunately for Silva, Ruya was there. Perched on the window leading out to her porch from the kitchen, she was humming and petting a small cat.

She didn't notice Silva, totally absorbed in her own little world.

Silva
Silva jerked as he saw her, his grip tightening slightly on the small dragon, enough to make the small creature let out a puny roar of complaint. "Damn I hope she didn't hear that..." He muttered, taking a step back and wishing there were darker shadows to hide in.

The small dragon squirmed, trying to escape his grasp. But Silva was focused on the girl he wanted revenge on.

Ruya
Hmm? Ruya looked up, having thought she heard something.

"Someone out there?"

She blinked and leaned forward a bit, earning a cry of protest from the cat in her lap.

"Silva?"

Silva
"s**t..." He muttered, unable to stop himself from taking a step from out of the shadows. He was an eerie sight, half there, half hidden in the shadow, the small creature tucked under his arm. He chewed on his toothpick, watching her for a while without saying a word.

"Darlin..." He finally said in a form of greeting. The small dragon under his arm struggled, giving a plaintive cry.

Ruya
Ruya blinked and offered him a smile. She shooed the cat back into the kitchen and floated down out of the window onto the porch.

"What have you got there?"

Silva
"Nothing much." He muttered, biting back a grunt as the dragon bit his arm. He dropped it, watching as the small dragon ran across the clearing to stop at Ruya's feet. "Just... that." He finished, crossing his arms over his chest, waiting for the dragon to DO something.

Nothing happened, save for the dragon giving a little yawn. Silva scowled.

Ruya
"Is he for me?"

Ruya smiled and knelt down to pick the little dragon up. Once she got a good look at him she squealed, "You're so cute!"

Silva
Cute... *Twitch* Dammit to hell, he wasn't supposed to be "So cute." He was supposed to be lighting her on fire! Nipping at her feet! Not begging for belly scratchings! He scowled, finally remembering what she had asked.

"Yeah. Something like that." He muttered, hating himself for enjoying the sight of her happy. So what if she hadn't kissed the other male? She had still given him the impression she was interested. That whole "unsure" bullshit didn't go over with him.

Ruya
Ruya cradelled the little guy like a baby and scratched his tummy, cooing at him.

"Hmm... where can I put you? I know! You can sleep with me."

Snuggle, snuggle. Oh wait, Silva was still here.

"That was really sweet of you to get him for me Silva."

She looked away, unable to meet his eyes for a moment.

"This really isn't the time, but I've been thinking and I think we should talk sometime."

Silva
Okay... now that was just cruel. He was jealous of a dragon, for crying out loud! The damn thing had gotten more love then him and the other kid combined. And he got to SLEEP with her? Not that he cared, he told himself, clearing his expression of anything save a smirk.

"Talk, huh? Fine. Whatever." He chewed on his toothpick, looking her over. "What, no snog as thanks? I'm hurt, darlin. And here I picked him out just for you." He stopped, cursing himself for admitting that fact.

Ruya
Ruya blinked a couple times and bit her lip. It was a really sweet gift, but she had decided no more kissing until she talked to Neruo.

"Well, I'd love to kiss you Silva, I think you know that, " she blushed a little thinking about it, "but I can't. I decided I wouldn't until I told Neruo about you and I."

She snuggled the little dragon some more, and played with his wings. Just like Silva's really.

Silva
"... Tell him." He repeated after a while. And when she told him what would keep the kid from telling her that Silva had already told... "Sure, darlin. I suppose I can wait." As in never get kissed again... dammit. He stepped forward, reaching out and brushing her hair back.

"But you didn't say I couldn't kiss you." He said, leaning forward and brushing a kiss over her lips before stepping back. "Goodbye, darlin. Come find me when you want to do that... talking." He took the step back into the shadows, retreating far enough that she couldn't see him, although he could still see her.

So she was going to tell Neruo... Hmm...

Ruya
"Bye, " Ruya called out a little sadly. She smiled lopsidedly at the little dragon in her arms.

"I hope you're not as much trouble as he is."

She sighed and turned back to the house, flying up and in the kitchen window.

Feiennapping, Day #2, Part #1
Tosten
Bright again.

It still felt like Tosten had just closed his eyes for a breath then when they crept open once more the dim lighting he had saw the world in had brightened. Morning. At first he passed it off with a sigh, letting lashes lower in a half-hearted attempt for sleep... but then he recalled. Ah! Ares!

He glanced beside him where Sunil still slept, a little up as he had more balled up on his side against her for safety against the horrid foresty goblins of the night prior. With a quiet frown he downcast his eyes to his own bindings to give some quiet squirms. They always got out of these in the movies, if he could just get a little free he could go see Ares and end this! Just a little more --

A loud rustle sounded above as a squirrel leapt from one overhanging branch to another. The result jostled the leaves and sent a sudden but heavy downpour of morning dew droplets upon the two feien, shocking Tosten out of his wriggly efforts.

"Uwah! COLD~!"

Sunil
Sunil woke with a start as she both got showered with cold water and had a rather loud feien whine in her ear. As she looked around she realized it was morning, the sin had come up and the little fire had long since burnt itself out. Sunil blinked a couple times to get the ringing out of her head and then stood, stretching out all of her sore muscles. Dragging around unconscious feien and sleeping up against a tree were apparently not good for the body.

"Good morning to you too Tosten."

Sunil scowled. Mornings were not her favorite time of the day. In fact the sheer brightness of mornings always pissed her off.

Tosten
"Pffffphhht." Was the greeting Sunil gained back. Tosten scrunched up his nose as he tried to blow air upward, his now damp frizzy bangs had been plastered on either side of his horn base directly into his eyes. Without use of his hands it was a rather silly business to try and clear his vision.

"Waah," He panted after a few hard puffs failed to do the job. "Sunil~, its tickling my nose, help!" It was said most frantically as though this was a matter of life or death.

Sunil
At first Sunil just laughed, Tosten's predicament was pretty amusing. She herself had apprently escaped the worst of the dew, coming out only slightly damp.

It was clear Tosten would probably whine until she did something about it though, so Sunil walked over and flicked his hair out of his eyes, tucking the longer pieces behind his ears.

"You should be more careful. How did you get water to rain down on us anyway?"

Tosten
Tosten gave an indignant whining sound when he heard her laughing but then, low and behold, he could see! He blinked wide-eyed at her a few times, his grumpy sound transforming into a more please 'mm!' at the end.

"I didn't do it," He corrected while glancing above them. "The tree did it. It shook itself and then all that water came down, bleeeh." He fidgetted a little with his complaint and a frown came to his lips eventually, his wings straining against the vine to the absolute limit.

Sunil
Sunil scowled. It really didn't make much sense Tosten had done it, but it also didn't make sense the tree had done it on its own. She shook her head and sighed, it really wasn't a big deal.

"You uncomfortable," she inquired, noticing he seemed to be straining against the vines.

Tosten
"My wings hurt." Tosten whined back in agreement, straining the vines once more. Not to mention they were speckled from the dew and he had such a desire to floof up and shake off that it was near overwhelming.

"And my arms asleep and it won't wake up~. What if it falls off??" He looked up unhappily at that. "Can this come off now? Pleaaase?" Innocent puppy eyes included.

Sunil
Sunil thought about it for a second. Really the way he was tied up now would make exploring the forest difficult. She really didn't want to have to be in one spot all day lisening to him whine. But what to do about restraining him? She had no doubts that those puppy eyes hid a mind full of thoughts about escaping her to go talk to Ares.

Then she had it. The perfect way to keep track of him.

"Ok. They can come off."

Sunil walked over to the tree and ripped off a new piece of vine. She tied one end securely to her wrist and then walked over to Tosten to untie the old vine from his wrists and attach the new vine to one of them. Now they were essentially hand cuffed together.

Sunil also untied the foot binding and the general one around Tosten's chest and wings.

"Better?"

Tosten
Tosten watched with a puzzled expression when she tore off a new vine and bound it to herself instead. Though he had gotten the picture by the time she reached him and was replacing old ties with the new one. Drat, he couldn't sneak off like this either.

"Mm!" Nonetheless he responded happily, giving his wings a good stretch upon freedom and that needed shake he had been so desiring. He poked his other arm a few times until it felt all prickly and awake, stretched his legs then was bounced to his feet with renewed energy.

"Umm..." He tugged this handcuff like system curiously, pulling on his end of the vine until her arm was pulled into the air. Finding this thoroughly amusing he giggled, grasping together the vine and tugging it up to puppeteer her arm into a few silly gesturing bounces.

Sunil
Sunil allowed herself to be puppeteered for a couple minutes until she hit herself in the side of the head. She growled, yanking her (and his) arm down.

"Alright Tosten that is it! Handcuffs are not a toy."

She yawned and wondered how much damagae would be done if she just brought Tosten home right now.

Tosten
Tosten looked sheepish when his arm was jolted down from its games by her own motion. They seemed like a fun toy to him! But nonetheless it was a tough vine it seemed, he realized he wasn't going to get out of it easily. This would call for some patience, maybe Ares wasn't going to be gone as quickly as she planned...

"Oh!" Boing. Tosten was bolted to one side, jerked back, then hooked onto the vine to start dragging her in that direction. "Look! Looklooklookbutterfly! C'mooonoverhereoverhere!!"

Sunil
Sunil slipped sideways as Tosten unexpectedly bolted after some damn insect. She had to start moving in his direction just to right herself.

"Arrgh. What the hell are you babbling about now?"

Sunil couldn't get her eye on the butterfly Tosten was reffering to. If she had to chase it, she at least wanted to see it.

Tosten
Tosten took wing as well as it was faster to do, trying to drag her with him of course. He wasn't all that strong but he was stubborn to keep trying regardless of if she didn't want to budge then he wasn't going anywhere.

"There's a butterfly - a BIG one too, look, there!" He released the vine long enough to point toward the black and gold insect fanning its wings in the morning light.

Sunil
Sunil went up in the air as soon as Tosten did, she had always found flying to be the best way to get around anyway. She peered when he pointed, and spotted the butterfly.

"We should catch it and take its wings."

Ok, so it was partly said to upset Tosten, but it was also partly the first thing that came to mind. It would be cool to try hunting a butterfly. They looked like they'd be fast.

Tosten
Tosten fluttered closer only to pause midair at her comment. He swung back to face her with a horrified look over the idea. "Do what? You wouldn't do that, would you?"

But this was Sunil, it wasn't far beyond her or his imagination to agree she would. So his idea of chasing the butterfly did an entire U-turn, as did he in the air for soon he was drawn back behind her and tugging the vine the other way. "Don't hurt the butterfly! It'll die if you do that! Thats horrible!"

Sunil
Sunil rolled her eyes but didn't bother to fight Tosten. Thebutterfly wasn't worth the chance the vine would snap.

"There are a lot of butterflies in the world Tosten. Who cares if one or two, or even a hundred die? There'll always be more to take their place."

She explained her point with the voice of someone talking to a particularly naive child, like one who still believes in the tooth fairy.

Tosten
Tosten frowned the moment she began speaking, disagreeing right from the start with what she said but he at least let her finish the sentence before arguing his own point.

"But that doesn't make it better. That butterfly right there is trying as hard as it can to live because it wants to! Just because they'll be more butterflies doesn't mean you can just, you know, ruin the chances the ones alive now has." He stubbornly tugged the vine the other way, guiding her with him as long as she wasn't fighting the pull. "Butterflies probably aren't very smart but I bet they dream too - I bet that one there is on a quest of its life to find the perfect flower!"

Gurgle gurgle... he paused now and frowned all the more. "Unn.. Sunil... I'm hungry."

Sunil
Sunil sighed at Tosten's logic, as far as she was concerned she was top of the food chain.

"Well, if you hadn't pulled me away maybe we could have eaten the butterfly. I doubt the wings taste good, but the body might be nice cooked."

Tosten
Tosten stared at her in surprise before he shook his head fiercely and latched right onto her arm instead of tugging it, whining something awful. "Suuuunil!! That's so mean, we're not eating the butterfly! Can't we just go back home?"

Sunil
Sunil shook her head and grinned. This was fun. Tosten was so easy to torment.

"Nope. Can't go home unless you want me to give you to Calico to deal with. And if we're gonna stay out here we'll have to eat something. The hungrier we get, the better that butterfly is gonna look."

Sunil slowly, but steadily started in the direction of the butterfly dragging her clinging buddy with her.

Tosten
Tosten twitched an ear unhappily at her decline for going home. She was unpredictable, Calico was pretty easy to predict... he'd kill him. Easily predicted, yes. Better to stick with Sunil... for now.

"Aiiiyah! SunilSunilSunil not the butterflllly!" He fussed something awful and backpedaled his wings as hard as he could, hauling on her arm with all his meager might. "Leave it alooone, we can eat something else!"

Sunil
Sunil stopped and laughed at Tosten's feeble cries. It would almost be worth the work, to see the look on his face if he had to be right there when she killed the butterfly.

"Ok, then what is it you propose we eat?"

She crossed her arms over her chest, which had the effect of jerking him closer to her scowl. If he could come up with a better meal plan, she'd be happy to go with as long as it contained less work than hunting butterflies.

Tosten
Unfortunately Tosten hadn't a better idea, he never made any effort to study how to survive in the wilds. He played outside but always went right back home when he was hungry... what could they eat out here? He jolted forward a little with her arm fold and released the arm entirely instead.

"Ah... well..." Bi-quoteed eyes scouted their surroundings without much idea. "There has to be something, I mean animals eat stuff in the forest. What do they eat? Ah, are acorns edible? We can pick acorns! Or is there a fruit somewhere? Or, uh..uh.... um..."

Sunil
Sunil continued to scowl although fruit wasn't a bad idea. She might as well let Tosten sweat some more.

"How are we supposed to crack open acorns? And as for fruit, it isn't like we're near a magical orchard of orange trees or anything."

Tosten
Tosten didn't do well under pressure though and the more she asked the more he found it harder to think of even logical answers. His ears wilted expressively and his hands wrung together, soon taking up the vine to wring that instead between his fingers.

"Ah, well, that is... I mean... you could... we can... there... er...." He dropped his head then glanced to the side, brightening immediately. "Ah! The butterfly's gone!" He pointed to the barren trunk excitedly. "You don't have a choice then! Right right?"

Sunil
Sunil scowled and noticed that indeed the butterfly was gone. There went her backup plan. As her stomach started rumbling, she spoke up.

"Berries Tosten. Berries. Birds eat them, we can eat them. We just have to find some. C'mon!"

Sunil roughly yanked the vine connecting them and sped off to survey the area for berry bushes.

Tosten
Tosten squeaked as he jolted forward and sent his wings into action to catch up as he tagged after her. "Berries?" He echoed puzzledly as he glanced about the forest as well, though he found it more of a chore to keep with her and avoid branches then study the foliage nearby.

"I still think it'd be easier to go home." He protested in the background, ducking beneath a scratchy twig. "Ah, Sunil? How long are we gonna be out here? I bet Ares is gone already, she was going on a trip with Arturo today..."

Sunil
Sunil abruptly came to a halt and glared at Tosten.

"Stop talking about going home! I told you the only circumstances under which you could go home. I will lock you in that stupid glass thing with Calico until one of you kills the other if I have to. Besides, Ares isn't the only adult you could spill the beans too. You could spill the beans to anyone."

Sunil leaned herself in closer to Tosten, and hissed, "I'm keeping you for as long as possible. I already told you that."

Tosten
Tosten grimaced the moment Sunil stopped and already knew better then to have kept whining about home. But, well, he had never eaten anywhere else - and he wanted to go home quite frankly! He sunk down a little in the air when she leaned closer.

"Ah... well, but, don't you have things to do?" He inquired back innocently. "Won't your caretaker get worried? Nekota worries really easily, he's gonna be looking for me and I don't wanna make him worry..."

Sunil
Sunil laughed, she wouldn't have gotten away with half the stuff she did if Kam actually made an effort to keep tabs on her.

"No, actually the only thing I have to do right now is keep you from talking to people. I think its pretty nice of me that I haven't killed you yet to be honest."

Sunil started back off in the direction of a promising clearing.

"Now come on and stop whining. There are berries to be found."

And tested for feien consumtion, she added silently.

Tosten
Tosten jolted a little again, not having thought to start moving as her words sunk in. Would she really kill him? What an awful horrible- gakk!!

"Don't pull~~..." Whoops, whining again. But what else was he supposed to do, he didn't want to be here and he really didn't understand the concept of staring into the face of danger. He'd just whine like a child, keeping pace with her again for the clearing. His tummy was grumbling again, he hoped this would be the lucky one. "Ah! Are those good berries? Down there."

Sunil
Sunil looked down when Tosten spoke, and grinned.

"Good eyes Tosten. They are indeed berries. The only way to tell if they are good, however, " Sunil landed by the bush and plucked on off to hand to Tosten, "is to test them on someone. Do be sure to tell me if you start to feel ill or anything."

Tosten
Descending as well, Tosten accepted the first berry only to register her words while examining the small round fruit in his hands. "I -- what? W-wait, these can make me sick?" Wide-eyed he looked to her wondering if this was just another aspect of her... unusual and morbid humor.

Sunil
Sunil snorted and gave Tosten her best wide-eyed impression of him.

"These can make me sick, " she mocked in a childish voice. "Of course they can. Living outdoors is dangerous. But they probably won't kill you, so eat up!"

Sunil smiled at him, finally enjoying the trip.

Tosten
Well that surely didn't convince him. In fact Tosten was absolutely, positively confused. He stared at Sunil with her mocking expression then down at the berry unsurely. "But.. but if they... can be bad ... I don't want to get sick." He protested meekly, still awfully confused but a touch wary now. He'd had bad yogurt before, he knew bad food was not a fun experience.

Sunil
Sunil frowned and tapped her foot impatiently.

"I thought you were hungry? I'm certainly not going to test the berries. Besides if you hadn't distracted me we could be eating a nice, non-poisonous butterfly right now."

Tosten
Tosten stared at the berry unhappily for a few seconds, grimacing when his tummy grumbled loudly once more. He squeezed shut his eyes and took up his courage to bite into the berry, struggling with the skin at first but once that gave way he could get a better bite into the fruits flesh.

"... Nnm." A displeased look came to his face and he made an effort to swallow before sticking out his tongue and frowning down at the berry. "... Its not very good." He complained sulkingly, but beyond a weird taste in the mouth he didn't feel any immediate bad effects.

Sunil
Sunil studied Tosten carefully like she was watching a particularly fascinating experiment.

"Not very good? Then we'll have to keep looking."

Sunil turned around and scanned the clearing. There seemed to be another berry bush of a different sort over to their left.

"Come on, there are some different berries over there."

Tosten
Tosten sniffed the berry he held a few times and looked to the next bush unsurely. But what if THOSE were bad berries? This one wasn't appealing but it didn't seem to be terrible. He reluctantly followed her but held onto the berry from the first bush.

"Ah, but, those might be bad! This one isn't bad - I think... it just tastes funny. Like, uh.. it tastes how rubbing alcohol smells." He compared, recalling the funny smell of that stuff Nekota had used the time he had gotten hurt. Ugh, that didn't make it anymore appealing though and he wrinkled his nose at the berry he held distastefully.

Sunil
Sunil grimaced and resolutely plucked a berry from the new bush for Tosten to try.

"That sounds gross. Try one of these."

Tosten
Tosten stared at the berry unhappily. He didn't want to get sick, why did he have to try them all? But this berry really was gross and if he ate the whole thing he'd be sick just from the taste then any actual poison. So he dropped what he had to the grasses below, accepting the newly plucked berry.

Playing guiena pig sucked! He frowned and closed his eyes as he risked a bite of this berry as well - and yuck, it wasn't much better... the initial bite wasn't so bad but the after taste? But wait a minute... he strickly fought his expression, swallowing it down peacefully.

"... Mm! This one's better!" He announced and forced another bite. If I'm going to have to bite into this gross stuff, she can too... was the mischevious thought crossing his mind while he gnawed another juice-dribbling mouthful.

Sunil
"Really?"

Sunil perked up and grabbed a berry for herself. She was starting to get hungry, and it didn't even occur to her that Tosten mught be lying. She took a huge bite of the berry, spitting it back out almost immediately.

"Tosten! I'm going to kill you! That was disgusting."

Sunil bent over and spit, trying to get the terrible, terrible taste out of her mouth.

Tosten
Tosten backwinged to the limit of the vine and from there laughed freely at Sunil's misfortune, giggling a little storm as she spat over the horrid taste (which at least to HIM tasted better then the first berry).

"Heeheehee! What a funny look you had on your face, Sunil!!" Was his hiccuping reply to her threat, hiding his face a little behind the half-bitten berry he was still clutching.

Sunil
"Goddamnit Tosten."

Sunil spat a few more times, and then stood up and yanked the vine, crossing the clearing. There seemed to be a low rambling plant there with tiny red berries on it.

Tosten
"Heehee-ack!" Tosten dropped the berry he had as he was lurched forward, following her again to yet another group of berries. Oh bother. Ears wilted he tugged back on the vine now some, but it was uneventful to fight Sunil's strength. "I don't wanna try anymore moooore~..."

Sunil
Sunil ignored Tosten's protest and marched up to the new plant. She studied it for a second and then picked a berry.

"These look suspiciously like strawberries. You try this one and I'll try one too. "

Sunil pushed the one she was holding into Tosten's arms and then picked another for herself.

Tosten
Tosten accepted the berry without much choice, staring at it unsurely then Sunil herself to make sure she honestly did pick one. He'd rather go hungry then have to eat another gross one and so he was especially apprehensive now.

"Okay..." He agreed softly and feigned a bite, peeking over the berry to watch and hope she bit into hers too so he could judge her reaction instead.

Sunil
Sunil made a weird face at her berry and then bit into it. At least if she died, Tosten would be shackled to her dead body for a while until her figured out how to cut the vine. That ought to freak him out.

Suprisingly the berry was sweet and mild. Sunil made an awful face anyway for Tosten's benefit. She knew he hadn't bitten into his, or he would have already said something about how good it tasted.

"Oh man, this is even grosser than that last one."

Sunil took another bite though, happily sitting on the ground so she could pick more when she finished this one.

Tosten
Uh... zuh? Tosten was baffled when she said this and yet continued to eat it despite the look she was putting on her face. What should he believe? Her actions or her expression? He stared down at the berry he held... his stomach felt a little icky from the gross berries but the hunger was still there. Oh well...

He took his own bite, eyes squeezed shut in the usual drama of the action. Chew, chew - ah, wait! With a wide blink of surprise he made a pleased 'mmm!' sound and went about eating eagerly. He was a messy feien... he ate fast, gracelessly, and always went for seconds, thirds, fourths - even fifths! Bottomless pit.

Feiennapping, Day #2, Part #2
Sunil
"Arrrgh! Shut up!"

Sunil was at the end of her rope. She had thought perhaps once he was fed Tosten would not be so difficult. She had thought wrong. Every little thing seemed to make him whine or exclaim with glee. You'd have thought every single butterfly in the forest was a tiny miracle on wings the way Tosten got excited about them.

Not only that, but because of the night before Sunil was running on little to no sleep and that made her cranky. So she decided it was naptime and this time she was going to tell the bedtime stories. Stories that would make Tosten have trouble sleeping this time.

So Sunil found herself a nice little hollowed out area by the base of a tree and settled down, dragging Tosten with her.

"Ok Tosten. Naptime. And this time I'm going to tell the bedtime stories all by myself. Ready?"

Tosten
But that wasn't a butterfly, that was a DRAGONFLY! Let's go see the dragonfly Sunil. Lets go see, lets go see -- Whaa? Nap?! Tosten was tugged after her without much a say of what was happening, plunking down as she did.

"But I'm not tiiiired -- ah? Really??" He brightened immediately, curious. Oh sure it was probably gonna have an unhappy ending - more dying? He hoped not! But at least she was trying. So he looked at her like an expectant child. "Ready, ready!"

Sunil
Sunil smiled in her best imitation of a sweet smile. It probably wasn't very good. Sunil didn't smile very often.

"Once upon a time there was a beautiful female feien named Ares and she had three children with a feien named Arturo."

Sunil looked up at her captive.

"You follow the story so far?"

Tosten
Tosten saw nothing wrong with the smile... until she spoke. His expectant, smiling features shadowed a little and his smile became a little more confused.

"... yes." But he went along with this as he simply had to know what she was getting at now. It was starting to remind him already that Sunil wasn't his playmate, as much fun as he was having her today. (Though the feeling wasn't mutual it seemed)

Sunil
Sunil nodded.

"Good because I want to make sure you really understand the story. Now, I'm just using the triplets as an example, really this applies to all the new feien."

Sunil settled back and took a few deep breaths.

"Not too long after the triplets, another feien was born named Calico and he was an unstable feien, who amusingly enough liked to cause pain in those weaker than him. Still following me Tosten?"

Tosten
Tosten's expression fell away entirely and he was staring at her in displeasure now. His knees drew somewhat to his chest, his arms looping around his legs themselves as he only stared, refusing to answer this time. This wasn't a good story, he didn't like it already.

Sunil
Sunil continued.

"Now normally, Calico wouldn't be strong enough to prey on allt he juveniles. Some of them might be stronger, or more clever. Luckily, Calico has a friend. A feien who can help him to become as strong as he needs to be so he can prey on all the feien. Face it Tosten, with Calico as a tool I can spread pain, suffering, and despair among the juveniles. And when Calico finally matures, he and I can wreak the same havoc among the adults. And with you out of the way Tosten, no one is going to be able to figure it all out in time to stop us."

Tosten
A horrible story indeed. Tosten dipped his head forward rather listlessly by the end of this and curled his hands into fists against his legs. That wasn't fair... not fair at all. They were going to hurt more people? Sunil was going to help him and use him to hurt people? He shifted over and lay on his side then, putting his back to her without ever replying. Nor was he sleeping, but balling up to think this over... What was he doing here? Playing with Sunil, staying with her like this? Sure she was keeping him away but he wasn't even trying to stop her... he promised Ares to tell her, to protect her kids... why was he still here?

Sunil
Sunil felt smug as Tosten just toppled over. That ought to keep him quiet for a while. She settled back on the ground and promptly dozed off.

Tosten
Tosten was left brooding. Sleep wasn't an option, just thoughts. Many, many thoughts. He was scared deep inside of what desire was growing inside him... he had to leave. More desperately then before. She was more serious then he ever chose to acknowledge, but to continue ignoring what Sunil had become was making him part of their plans then something to stop it.

Eventually he rolled over once more, propped up to watch her. Was she... asleep? He sat up quietly and set his gaze on the vine between them. If he pulled this she'd know he moved. He had to take it off and he had to just hope Ares was still home. As he looked about them he spied a stone, the tip of a larger one exposed from the dirt. A few scoots drew him near and he took as much slack of the vine as he dared...

Would this work? It did in the movies. During the dramatic scene a rope hung over a cliff edge usually, all the jostling rubbed it around till it snapped and they fell. Was that real? Lets see. He pressured the two sides and rubbed it against the edge of the stone, rawing it away further and further until -- snap!

Sunil
Unluckily for poor Tosten, the snap was enough to wake up Sunil. Sunil sat up in confusion and felt the slack on the vine as she moved. Oh no!

She looked around and spotted Tosten still by the stone he had used to break the handcuffs.

"Don't you dare move Tosten. Or the minute you fly for Ares, I'll fly for home. Any idea how much damage I can cause Ruya before you get someone there? I don't know either, but it would be interesting to find out wouldn't it?"

Sunil stood up and approached him slowly. She just had to get close enough to grab him.

Tosten
The moment Sunil moved he had taken to air, even as she spoke her threat. He was a bare few inches from the ground however as he absorbed her words, frozen and fearful as he stared at her.

"I.. I have to... I have to tell them ..." He rose a little then sunk back down, captured by her words and trying so hard to know if they were truthful. "Don't.. hurt Ruya.." He protested softly at the very idea. What could he do now? He couldn't risk her being serious, even if he flew as fast as he could to Ares' home it may be too late to reach Sunil's and ensure Ruya's safety. Oh dear.

Sunil
Sensing him wavering, Sunil leaped at Tosten. If she could pin him against the tree for long enough, she could get the vine hanging from her wrist around his neck. That would keep him still for a while.

Tosten
What do I do, what do I do?? Tosten's mind was awhirl of two situations at once, the danger of not going now before Ares would surely be gone and the danger of Ruya being hurt if he went! He could barely concentrate on this that when she was jumping at him all he could do was blink like a frightened deer in the headlights. And by that point was resigned. He couldn't leave, not right now. If he was going to escape he'd have to make sure she didn't realize so he had the headstart. So he gave up hope of even trying to escape, letting the capture succeed resignedly.

Sunil
Sunil pinned Tosten against the tree with little trouble and then looped the loose vine around his neck and pulled it tight.

"You listen to me Tosten. I told you what would happen if you told on us. I even went back on my word and kept you safe and whole. And this is how you repay me? By trying to escape? I don't think so."

Sunil's eyes weren't totally sane anymore. She was boiling over with anger and she didn't have the sleep necessary to bring herself under control.

"I still say it would be too much trouble to cut out your tongue without a knife. But maybe we can just break something instead."

Sunil considered her options carefully and she decided on his wings. His stupid, fluffy, always shedding wings.

Without any warning to him she pulled back and punched at the delicate upper bone in his right wing.

Tosten
Tosten was frightened when pinned against the tree and caught with the vine tight at his throat.... but the more she spoke, the more he saw her, the more fear was absolute terror and he scrabbled back against the trunk of the tree. She wouldn't, would she?

"Sunill, wai-- !!" But she had struck up, and wings were nothing meant to withstand something as strong as she. They were hollow bones light for flying... bones that snapped so easily when under such violent pressure. He was just stunned by the numbness overcame him, shock ultimately, before he realized it hurt. A lot. More then the stab ever had. And he screamed something awful, limp in her pinning hold as all fight left him for the replacement of broken sobs.

Confessions, part #1 (Graciously compiled by Ice)
Neruo
Neruo fluttered slowly out into the backyard, staring ahead mutely. The orange one lit on Kam's wooden fence and watched the setting sun drift beneath the horizon. He watched as the droplets of water on the grass grew cold...and he sighed slightly.

His fingers twisted around one orange curl and tugged.

Ruya
"Alright guys, time to go out."

Ruya's voice drifted out from the partially opened porch door, as a stream of pixapets filtered out onto the porch and then the lawn itself. They were followed by a tiny dragon, Ruya, and a pixie, who stopped to wait by the door.

When Ruya stepped out the door, she noticed someone or something perched on the fence. Shrugging, she flew over to investigate. She really hoped it wasn't a bird. Getting all the pets back inside would be rough.

"Hello?"

Neruo
Neruo's ears perked when he heard her voice. He slowly turned around, a blank expression on his face. He then warmed up and smiled, waving. He extended his orange wings to catch the last bits of sunlight. The light drifted through his feathers and then seemed to glow.

He then stood up and began to walk the length of the fence, towards Ruya. "Hello..." he said quietly.

Silva
Silva stared down at the dead mouse, wrapping his chain slowly as he waited to make sure it wouldn't move. He turned, looking around for something else to kill. He jerked as he caught sight of someone sitting on the fence, it wasn't a bird, the build was wrong, even though the wings were feathered.

"Neruo." He muttered like a curse, torn between getting closer or walking away. In the end he chose to stay where he was, too far to hear, but close enough to see. It was almost masochistic in a way, but he couldn't seem to help himself. Ruya would be walking that damn dog of hers soon...

Ruya
Ah it was Neruo! Ruya felt elated, and then a little bummed. It was nice to see him, but she had things to discuss with him.

Ruya landed on the fence not far from Neruo and waved back.

"Hello Neruo! How are you this evening?"

Neruo
Neruo smiled and slowly kept walking towards her, saying, "I'm alright. I see you're out an about this evening with the herd. Are you alright?" He sounded a bit concerned.

His gray eyes thought they had seen something moving in the distance. Feathers? He decided it was his mind playing tricks on him and dismissed it, turning back to Ruya.

"You seem...depressed?"

Ruya
Ruya stopped and blinked at Neruo. She opened her mouth and then closed it again, before finally speaking.

"I'm a little troubled, but not depressed. More confused. Can I speak with you?"

Ruya sat down on top of one of the fence posts, motioning for Neruo to do the same.

Neruo
Neruo's eyes softened and he sat down beside her, more worried than he had been before. A tinge of guilt tugged at his heart. Was it something he did? He hoped not, but he wasn't sure.

He looked down at the grass and waited patiently for her to begin. He liked to think of himself as someone others could come to to voice their feelings...

Silva
Closer... Silva wanted to get closer. He wanted to hear them talking... to hear her confess to the flower boy that she was sneaking out at night with him. He inched a little closer, but paused as something struck him. He would have to get close enough for THEM to be able to hear HIM if he wanted to hear them. That wasn't a good idea...

So he sat down and waited... and watched.

Ruya
"May I?"

Ruya reached out for one of Neruo's hands and placed it between her own.

"I don't know how else to say this so I'm just going to get it over with. I think you have a crush on me."

She unconciously avoided looking him in the eyes.

"And if I'm right, it really isn't fair for me not to tell you that there is someone else. That there is another boy I spend time with and ... stuff, " she finished lamely.

"I'm sorry?"

She finally looked up at his face, both afraid of and not wanting to miss any reaction he might have.

Neruo
Neruo looked up and slowly nodded. Was he that transparent? He wasn't big on hiding anything, as that just caused problems and was overall way too much work...But maybe it would've been best to hide it? It may have caused Ruya less grief.

"Was it that obvious?" he asked simply. "I read somewhere that women like mystery...but I guess I'm not that mysterious, am I?" He chuckled. What a waste of a Feien he was...

But it's not like he could help it. "You wonder if I'll be upset?" he asked, and withdrew his hand from hers. Not from anger, but to keep his mind focused on what he had to say.

"I would be hurt if you had feelings for me and then you went off and engaged in amoral conduct with someone else, but...I don't know how you feel about me in return. Am I worth it? I suppose I can't give you a real answer unless you answer me this: Do you like me in return, or is my affection one-sided?"

Ruya
Ruya folded her hands together and stared down at them. Why did he have to ask this? It was such a big part of the question she was avoiding answering to herself.

"I don't know, " she mumbled after a couple awkward minutes of silence. "I really like talking to you and I don't want to stop hanging out with you, but I don't think... "

She studied her hands really closely, much more closely than she needed to. Then with a sigh, she finished her sentence all in one breath.

"... I don't think I want anything more than that right now."

There it was said, but was it really what she wanted? Who knew. The awful feeling in the pit of her stomach remained, as if she had done nothing at all to help out the situation.

Neruo
Neruo sighed and smiled. He bent down and took her hand, trying to comfort her in her sadness.

"That's all I wanted to know." he said quietly. "All I wanted was a straight answer...and since there's someone else...someone you like more...then I don't mind you doing whatever you want with him, since you do not have feelings like that for me."

He stood up, pulling at one of his curls until is was so taught that it went straight. "I'm glad you told me."

Silva
Silva sat there, his chain fisted in his hand, the feeling that he was a @%$%^ idiot creeping up his spine. He forced his hand to loosen, his lungs to breathe fresh air. She wasn't that important, dammit. It was the situation that was pissing him off. Right?

He told himself to move... to stop watching, but he didn't... he couldn't. This involved him, after all.

Ruya
Ruya stood as well and reached out to make sure Neruo was looking her in the eye.

"That's not it at all. I'm not sure I do like Silva better. I just know that right now I'm not ready for the kind of relationship I think you and I could have."

She let her hand drop and took a deep breath.

"But I meant what I said. If you can stand to be near me, I want to be friends. I think you're really interesting Neruo."

Neruo
Neruo chuckled. "So that's his name. We met earlier and he never did tell me. He's the burgandy one, white short white hair. Yes...I suppose I can see why you do...those things...with him. He's much more versed in that sort of thing than I am."

He promptly let go of the curl he was practically ripping from his skull. He was so focused on listening to her that he didn't notice the needles of pain shooting through his scalp. He was better now, or so he thought.

"And, why would I suddenly not be able to stand you? I'll be here for you as a friend, no matter what happens. Alright?"

Ruya
"Good. You have no idea how much I worried about that."

Ruya sagged with relief. She had been worried Neruo would suddenly not want to hang out with her anymore and that thought had made saying this so awful.

Wait. What did he just say? Ruya looked up and gave Neruo a puzzled look.

"You met Silva?"

Neruo
Neruo nodded. "Yes, he's the Feien that is the color of wine. Darker skin and white hair, with bat wings...and quite the womanizer, I assume. Does it bother you that we chatted?"

He wasn't entirely sure why she was so concerned about it. The way he figured it, why would it matter if they had met or not? She seemed to be slightly more interested in Silva than he, but he liked her regardless. It was her decision and he would respect it in its entirety.

Ruya
"Yes, it does bother me. I wanted you to find out from me."

And this means that little b*****d took it upon himself to interfere in something that was none of his business, she added mentally.

"And quite the... "

Ruya's eyes narrowed. She no longer felt upset or guilty, she felt angry. Very very angry.

But she smiled anyway for Neruo's sake.

"If you don't mind me asking, what did Silva say to you exactly?"

Neruo
Neruo tilted his head in thought. "Well, he was angry. I could tell. He said he was 'mad as hell' that 'his girl' was hanging out with someone of 'my type'. Or something along those lines. I don't think he thinks I'm the brightest crayon in the box, despite my color..."

He hoped that he didn't leave anything too important out, but he was more focused on her than the previous meeting. Other things would come to him, if they were important.

Silva
Silva blinked, noticing the change in Ruya's stance and feeling something close to worry... Something had changed the emotion of the meeting on him and he was almost positive that whatever it was... was not good.

Not good at all...

Ruya
Ruya couldn't even keep up her false smile for that, but she tried to stay polite. It wasn't Neruo's fault Silva was the way he was.

"Thank you for telling me that Neruo. I had no idea Silva would do such a thing."

She probably should have though. Ruya looked around and noticed most of the pixapets appeared to have gathered back on the porch to go in.

"Its getting late Neruo, I wouldn't want your bond to worry. Perhaps you can come another day and we can spend some time in the backyard? I think there are some wild chives growing in one corner."

Neruo
Neruo smiled and bowed to her, not wanting for her to wait for him any longer. He slowly took to the air and floated just above the fence, turning back to wave at her and Rishi. He then sighed and made his way home.

He had much to tell Lu when he got there.

Confessions, part #2 (Graciously compiled by Ice)
Ruya
Ruya waited until Neruo was out of sight to dive off the fence and start running across Silva's lawn to his porch.

That pain in the a**, lying, punk. So he thought he could just claim her and chase off her friends? Not to mention basically lying to her.

She picked up a fistfull of tiny pebbles on her way to the porch and once there started pelting the door, hurling the pebbles with everything she had.

"Silva, you b*****d! Get out here!"

The pebbles, not being very big, probably didn't make much of a noise on the inside of the house, but it did start to make Ruya feel better.

Silva
Silva watched her from the shadows, seriously contemplating not letting her see him. It would be easy enough, after all. She didn't have nightvision... But he had the insane urge to get this over with.

She was probably going to dump him sooner or later, anyways, he thought philosophically. He spoke, not willing to reveal himself until she put the stones down. "Now, darlin..."

Ruya
Ruya whirled, stones in hand and started randomly lobbing them in the direction she thought his voice had come from.

"Don't you dare "darlin'" me. Get out here."

Her supply of pebbles wasn't endless, and eventually she had lobbed them all out into the dark. Finding more would have taken energy, and her rage wasn't enough to keep her going too much longer.

Silva
He finished dodging the pebbles and slowly stepped into the lighter area where she could see him, hoping she had run out. "I can explain. Actually... I probably can't. Hell..."

He stopped, looking thoughtful for a second. He wasn't sure how much the other male had told her. He might be able to talk his way out of it... or not. And by the look on her face he was leaning towards the "or not."

"I'm... sorry?" He finally offered in a pathetic attempt to keep from being maimed. If she fought him... something told him he wouldn't fight back. Dammit.

Ruya
Those were probably the two words she least expected out of his treacherous mouth and it stopped her up short. She just blinked at him, wondering what was going on in his head.

"Why, " she said finally, desperately, " Why would you go talk to him like that?"

She sighed, and then added, "And don't try and feed me any crap."

Not like she'd know anyway, a little voice said, Not like she could really tell what he said was truth and what was lie when it came out of his mouth.

Silva
"Why did I go talk to him?" He repeated, thinking for a minute. "Hell, I thought it was obvious. I'm jealous, darlin. I wanted to see for myself the guy that brings you flowers. And... dammit... I hate not being in control." The last was muttered, as if he was irritated with himself over that one.

"Look, I screwed up. But--" I'm not the only one... of course he couldn't say that, not when she was this pissed. "But I had a reason. Now, granted, it's not a very good one, and--" He stopped, searching for a good point.

"And I didn't do anything to the kid. I swear. Didn't even really warn him off. I just wanted to scope out the competition."

Ruya
Damnit. She was still pissed, but she was also oddly flattered. If he was truly jealous, maybe he did care.

But maybe that was bad? She still hadn't sorted exactly how she felt about him.

Arrgh. It was too late to think about this. She needed to go home and go to sleep and worry about this some other day.

"Whatever. You should have told me you'd seen him when I said I was going to talk to him. You lied to me. By omission sure, but you still lied."

Ruya sighed crossed her arms over her chest and looked at her feet. This was the second time tonight she had to study something other than the person she was talking to.

"I already didn't know exactly how I felt about you Silva, and this only makes it worse."

Silva
He nodded, watching her for a few seconds. "You're not the only one, darlin. Now go... Before I do something stupid and offer to walk you home." He paused, examining his toothpick. "And it was omission, darlin... but hell, you weren't the only one mad."

He took a step back, fading into the shadows feeling something sitting on his gut... something that felt suspiciously like guilt.

Ruya
Ruya blinked back the stupid tears she felt hiding behind her eyes. Why was she crying? This was so stupid.

"Night."

Ruya slowly headed back to her porch where the gang was all waiting for her. At least for once she wasn't worried she'd stay up and worry, she was going to pass out the minute she hit the pillow.

Troubles
Silva gave me a present. I was pretty surprised, since it didn't really seem like something he would do. Anyway, he did. He gave me a tiny little demonic looking dragon. It took me a while to come up with a name for him, but I've decided to call him Bozidar. It supposedly means "divine gift" in Czech. I was really thrilled when Silva gave him to me and he has been a joy to have around (for a demonic looking little guy he really is quite a sweetheart). Really the only the only problem was he managed to totally char the flowers Neruo gave me, which was a little odd since he hasn't set anything else on fire. Well, except for Pretti (my siamese) but she was looking for trouble and I'm sure the hair on her tail will grow back no problem.

So, I told Neruo that I didn't feel the same way for him that I think he does for me. It was really tough to say that to him, but I really think its the truth. I enjoy spending time with him, and I am so happy he is still going to be my friend, but I don't think I want anything more from him than that. Although honestly where is the line drawn? Where does being good friends stop and a relationship begin? If spending time with Neruo leads to me having a crush on him, I really can't stop that. It probably would serve me right if that happened and by then he no longer felt that way for me.

Anyway, while I was speaking to Neruo he told me that he had met Silva. I was naturally a little bit pissed off, especially considering it sounded to me like Silva was pretty rude to Neruo. So I spoke to Silva. He apologized, which surprised me. (He is, apparently, full of surprises.) In the end it doesn't change anything though. Sorry or not, he lied to me and he went behind my back.

Sure, I made a mistake. Probably several in all actuality, but I was going to fix it on my own. I didn't need him messing with anything.

I'll admit this here, because I'll never be able to admit it out loud. I think I do like Silva and it makes me feel a little nice that he got mad about me seeing another boy.

But as I said before, it changes nothing. He did what he did and it is clear to me a relationship with Silva would probably not be in my best interests.

But I just keep thinking about the thrill I felt the times we kissed. The time he kissed me after giving me Bozidar.

Anyway, enough about boys. Math make much more sense anyway. I've progressed past calculus now and I'm studying differential equations. Kam said something about them being tough, but they seem logical to me. When I think I have enough of a grasp of them, I may take a detour through some of Kam's physics textbooks. I'm pretty sure I'm more interested in the beauty of pure math than its applications, but knowledge never hurts.

I've been reading a litte more too. (Hey, I've had a lot of time on my hands that I would rather not spend thinking about my neighbor.) Kam recommended I look at some poetry since I seemed so interested in Shakespeare. I've been reading a little of a rather long poem called The Wasteland by T.S Eliot. I'm really not sure what I think of it so far. I've only read the first part (The Burial of the Dead) and I'm not sure I understand what the author is trying to say. Kam says she'll take me to the library and let me look for literary commentary on the meaning of the poem, but that that takes all the fun out of reading poetry. I'm not sure I think its much fun anyway so far, but perhaps I would prefer a different author.

Meeting Averno, Talking to Silva (** Compiled from the Tavern in the Guild **)
Sajhiri/Averno
Jhiri pushed open the door of the tavern and put out the "Open" sign once again. She shuffled some papers in her hands and glanced over them absently as she slipped behind the bar.

On her shoulder, Averno peered at the papers as if looking for anything of interest or use in them. Seeing nothing she cared about she leapt into the air and flitted over to the Feien-sized portion of the tavern and settled into a chair at one of the tables.

Jhiri put on her usual pot of coffee and settled on a stool behind the bar to balance her finances. Fuuuun!

Ruya
Ruya slipped in the door to the tavern and purposefully made her way up to the bar. She spared a glance for the other feien present, but made no move in her direction.

Instead, she made her way over to the human sitting behind the bar.

"Excuse me? Are you the owner of this establishment?"

Sajhiri/Averno

Jhiri smiled merrily at the Feien and nodded her head. "I am indeed. Can I get you something to drink or eat, miss?"

Averno's eyes flashed doorward at the glimpse of motion, her body stiffening in anticipation of an unpleasant visitor, but relaxing again to see it was not Calico. She got up and winged her way to the human-sized bar, alighting not far from the new arrival to study her.

Ruya
Ruya smiled up at the human and replied happily, "Oh, well yes something to drink would be lovely. May I have some lemonade?"

Then she laughed a little at herself.

"That isn't the primary reason I'm here though. I would like to apply for a job. A waitress I think, if there is an opening."

Sajhiri/Averno
Sajhiri looked elated as she eyedroppered some lemonade into a tiny mug for the Feien. "Wonderful! I just so happen to be in need of a waitress. Can I get your name to add to my records?" She carefully handed the mug to Ruya.

Averno wrinkled her nose for a moment at the very thought of manual labor, but she composed herself again quickly and gave a smile to the multi-colored female. "Hello...I don't believe we've met yet. I'm Averno."

Ruya
Ruya took the mug with care and sipped a bit of the lemonade before replying. It had been a long flight there and she was a little parched.

"Excellent. My name is Ruya."

Ruya then turned to face Averno. She studied the girl for a second, while drinking a little more of her lemonade.

"Hello. I'm Ruya, as you undoubtable already heard. It's nice to meet you Averno. Are you bonded to the owner? Do you work here too?"

Sajhiri/Averno
Averno quelled the brow that threatened to arch, her past few experiences tempering her outward shows of arrogance a bit. She smiled instead. "Ruya...that's a lovely name. I am bonded to Sajhiri, yes, though I don't work here, really. I suppose I could, but I want to get a bit more settled into this life before I do something like that. You're only the 4th Feien I've even met so far."

Sajhiri jotted down Ruya's name with a grin on her roster. "Great! It's always good to have some more folks delivering drinks and such. Especially Feien-sized ones. It's difficult for me to even get a hold of some of the mugs."

Ruya
"Ah, so you must be new, " she guestured over to the feien sized area of the bar, "Mind if we sit? I'd love to chat, but I'm a little tired from flying over here."

Sajhiri/Averno
Averno smiled her best approximation of a warm smile. Perhaps this being friendly thing had merit afterall. "Of course." She flitted over to one of the Feien-sized tables and settled into a chair.

Sajhiri brought over another mug and a tiny pitcher of lemonade for the two to share before she headed back to her paperwork.

"So, how long have you been out of your bloom, Ruya?" the dark haired Feien queried.

Ruya
Ruya followed after Averno and settled herself at the same table as the other feien. She thanked Sajhiri with a smile and a nod as the human brought over a pitcher and another mug.

"I'm not sure, " Ruya thought for a moment, " several months, I believe. It doesn't seem like that long, " she laughed softly, "time flies I guess."

She drank a little more of her lemonade, finishing off the mug.

"You haven't been out long you said, but do you have any hobbies?"

Ruya smiled and poured herself a little more lemonade. This was nice, she didn't really know any other girls. She hoped they had something in common.

Averno
Averno blinked a few times in mild confusion. "Hobbies? Hm...no, not at the moment other than a burning curiosity to know more about this place and about the other Feien who are here." She poured herself a mug of the lemonade and sipped from it, narrowing her eyes in thought.

"I've only been out for a few days, so I'm not really entirely sure what there is to do around here for a hobby. What do you like to do?"

Ruya
Ruya thought for a moment before replying. She probably hadn't had any hobbies either when she was new.

"Well, I like to paint. I picked that up from my friend Tosten. He is very nice, if you haven't you should meet him, " she paused briefly, "I also like to read, lots of different things, " Ruya waved her hand absently, not wanting to bore Averno with the specifics of her literary tastes, "and I have a whole herd of pets I take care of."

Ruya stopped, that was quite a bit about herself and it seemed rude to go on, even if she did enjoy sharing her interests with others.

"You said you'd met four feien? I'm curious to know who. I don't really know all that many feien myself."

Averno
Averno brightens at the mention of painting. "You paint? Would you perhaps be interested in painting my portrait? My bond is an artist, but she's always too busy to paint me."

As to the question she murmurs, "Well you were one, and the tavern bouncer, Sunil, who seemed relatively nice, then there was some arrogant jerk who is bonded to someone Sajhiri calls 'Ice' and some violent b*****d who assaulted me because I sniped back at him when he rudely insulted me."

Silva
Silva looked up at the tavern for a second, just out of habit before walking in. "Hey! Princess, I need to--" He stopped, his expression going blank as he got close enough to see who Averno was talking to. He levitated up to the feien area, dropping down and smirking slightly.

"Well, well... ain't this a pretty picture. Long time no see, Darlin."

Ruya
Ruya glanced at Silva, and chose to ignore him for a minute in favor of answering Averno's question.

"I'm not very good, but I'd be happy to try."

Then trying to look totally unconcerned, she turned and looked at Silva.

"Indeed. I assume you've been well?"

She tried to go for a cold tone, but really only succeeded in being neutral. It was sorta nice to see him.

Averno
Averno flitted her eyes towards Silva narrowly. She had to admit, being called a Princess wasn't all that bad. She'd still prefer Empress but it would do for now. "You need to what, Red?" If he refused to give her a name she'd give him one.

She looked between Silva and Ruya at the recognition that they seemed to know one another and her brow creeped up slightly. "Would you two rather be alone?" She took a sip of her lemonade.

Ruya
Ruya turned back to Averno and drank some more of her lemonade after glaring at it for a second.

"No. I have nothing to say to him that can't be said in public. Besides, it sounds like he came here to speak with you anyway."

That earned the lemonade another glare. He called her Princess? Ruya was not pleased and the fact she even cared made her less pleased.

Silva
Now this... was tricky. He smirked, looking back at Averno. "She doesn't like me at the moment, princess. I'm sure you know how that is." He looked around, grabbing one of the chairs and straddling it so he could keep an eye on both of them.

"I was hoping you might tell me more about your... what did you call him? Violent assaulter. Was it a tall blue female with a bad attitude?" If it was Sunil then he was back to where he had started from...

Averno
Averno nodded to Ruya, then arched a brow at Silva. "Not even remotely. It was that red and yellow lunatic who was in here the day we met. It happened just after you left actually."

She leaned back in her chair, tasting the tension between the other two Feien fairies as if it were a fine vintage of wine.

Ruya
Ruya took a deep breath and finished off her lemonade, half listening in on the other feiens' conversation. Then she glanced up at Averno with a shocked expression as something processed.

"You were attacked? In the tavern? That sounds awful!"

What sort of feien, other than Sunil, who had already been eliminated from the running, would attack Averno? The girl seemed sweet.

And then Ruya frowned, could this whole thing have something to do with Sunil sending her out into the woods that night?

"You said you met Sunil. Did you happen to speak with her about your attacker?"

Ruya felt bad highjacking the conversation, but her curiosity was piqued.

Silva
Silva relaxed, letting Ruya take over the conversation as he thought back. Red and yellow... violent... Yeah, he kinda remembered seeing another male that day. Hadn't actually talk to him much, other then offering the princess over...

But that's the guy she had said assaulted her. He smirked slightly, noting the concern in Ruya's voice. He hadn't even bothered trying to sound as if he cared. But Ruya... Ruya would get the entire story for him and he wouldn't have to do a thing. He blinked, realizing that he had been watching her for the past few minutes, then turned away as if it hadn't happened.

"You happen to catch his name?"

Averno
Averno shook her head sadly. "Sunil said she had no idea who he was, and I never got his name. He told me I was useless because I didn't know anything about any other Feien, so I replied that if I was useless, being as I was the first few hours out of my bloom, what was his excuse if he had to consult a newly emerged Feien on other Feien. That was when he grabbed me by the hair and threatened me. So I dumped my hot tea in his lap and got away."

Ruya
Ruya leaned forward to put her hand on Averno's shoulder briefly.

"That sounds awful, but at least you're ok."

Sunil didn't know him? Huh, it seemed hard to believe there were lots of dangerous feien running around. Perhaps Sunil had been lying. No real way to tell now.

Silva
"Yeah." Silva muttered, chewing on his toothpick. He didn't sound very convincing. "Try and get his name next time, princess. In case... he decides to attack again, that is. I'm sure there'll be people willing to give you a hand."

Non-commital. But it sounded good. He turned, looking at Ruya again, unable to help himself, then away. "Think I could get a drink?" He called over to Jhiri.

Averno
Averno scoffed quietly. "Who would be willing to protect me from him? He's a homicidal psychopath. And I really haven't met many other Feien to inspire them to come to my aid. I'm afraid to even stray to far from Sajhiri..." she glanced towards her bond.

Sajhiri looked over at Silva and chuckled. "Surely, Mr. No Name. I'll have to ask Ice what your name is." She brought over an already poured cherry phosphate for the male and set it on Averno and Ruya's table.

Sajhiri stooped down to gently scoop Averno up in her hand. "Time to go dear. You can talk to your friends again tomorrow I'm sure." With that the pair departed.

Ruya
Ruya frowned as she was left alone with Silva.

"So, you and Averno are friends?"

She pushed her now empty mug to the center of the table, wishing she had thought to ask where dirty dishes went.

Silva
Friends? With the princess? He blinked, then smirked slightly. "I guess you could say that, darlin. She comes in handy." He took a drink, watching her through lowered lashes. "But I doubt she'd be willing to hunt fireflies with me."

Ruya
Ruya turned and met Silva's eyes, blushing a little before she turned away and carefully began rearranging the cups on the table.

"I doubt it, too, " she lowered her voice a little, "She called you an 'arrogant jerk'."

She glanced at him out of the corner of her eye, wondering what he was thinking.

"You come in here a lot? They seemed to know what you like to drink."

Silva
"Often?" He repeated, thinking about it. "Not really... often, so to say. But this place is quiet. You don't have to talk to anybody you don't want to. It suits me."

He leaned forward, watching her. "You still mad at me, Darlin? Because I've been getting... lonely."

Ruya
Ruya stopped shuffling the stuff on the table around uselessly and sighed. She turned to face Silva and put her hands in her lap.

"I'm not really mad anymore. You got my gift didn't you? But I still think what you did was wrong and no amount of time is going to change my mind."

She smiled in spite of herself.

"I don't think you're lonely. I think you just miss having someone to kiss."

Silva
"I--" He stopped, biting down on his toothpick before forcing his muscles to relax. "I'm not going to argue with you, darlin. Not about something that's already happened. And we'll get into the kissing or not kissing subject later. When we're not in a public place. But I will say one thing, darlin. If I just wanted someone to kiss I think I would have found them by now."

He stood, looking at her for a few minutes before turning. "And you're going to haveta show me how to play that game, darlin. Before Io lets that damn dragon of hers light it like a matchstick."

Ruya
Ruya stood as well, but stayed facing the table.

"I'd be happy to show you how to play anytime, but you could have looked up the rules on your own."

Silva
He wanted to yell at her. He REALLY wanted to yell at her. All this making it out to be his fault was starting to piss him off. SHE had cheated on HIM, not the other way around. So what if she hadn't actually kissed the other guy?

So what if he had hunted the other guy down? What would she have said if he had done what he wanted to do and beat the living s**t out of him while he was at it? He scowled, grateful he wasn't facing her.

"I could have, darlin... but you aren't getting out of this that easily." He said easily. "Now I think I'll... take my leave." He headed for the edge, dropping off and walking to the door before turning. "Goodbye, darlin."

Ruya
"Fine, I made a mistake, " Ruya mumbled, probably too quiet for Silva to hear as he left. Then she turned and headed for the door herself.

Ruya
Home from the tavern, Ruya paced around her bedroom for a couple minutes, wondering why she was in such a bad mood, before finally kicking the book she'd been reading in disgust. This had two effects. One, it was a hardcover book and her foot hurt, and two, she realized she was worrying about something. Or someone.

She turned to look out the bedroom window onto the backyard and with a sigh decided to just go down there. He probably wasn't even around.

So she made her way through the house, and out onto the backyard where she perched conspicuously on a fence post.

Silva
He had been home for a while, long enough for the shadows to get to the point he could go outside and kill something. Was he still mad? Yeah. But he was getting better. "Note to self, don't deal with the Princess and Darlin at the same time." He shrugged the thought off, trying to force himself to concentrate. He never even looked up from where he was scanning as he spoke.

"What do you want now, darlin?"

Ruya
Ruya stared down at her feet and replied softly.

"I made a mistake in leading on Neruo and not telling you about him the right way."

Silva
He nodded, finally looking up. "That's true, darlin. You did." He sighed, relaxing for the first time in a while. "And I probably screwed up a few times myself." He muttered, watching her. After a few seconds he levitated up, sitting down next to her. "So... what've you been up to since then, darlin?"

Ruya
Ruya laughed a little and looked at him.

"Not much. I've been reading a lot. Poetry, " she made a face, "Kam seems to think I should like it, but I don't really."

She blushed and looked away.

"I thought about you. Wondered what you were up to. Worried about how odd living next to eachother would be with us not speaking."

Silva
"Poetry, huh? Ice writes that crap. It's not my kind of thing." He smirked, relaxing and kicking a leg slightly. "Miss me, huh? Want to snog as a welcome back gift?" He didn't expect her to say yes, but asking it amused him.

Ruya
Ruya narrowed her eyes at him.

" I knew it! I knew that was all you wanted."

Then she smiled and leaned over to give him a quick peck on the cheek.

"There."

She gave him a sidelong glance, "So what have you been up to?"

Silva
"Finding things out." He replied, smirking slightly at the kiss on the cheek. "That's pretty much the reason I was at the tavern, darlin. But that's not important right now. Wanna play tag? Winner gets a kiss." He dropped down from the fence, smirking up at her for a second. "Or is that too much of a kiddy game for you?"

Ruya
Ruya grinned a little mischeviously.

"How about winner also gets to pick where on their body they want the kiss?"

She stood up and brushed herself off, remembering her observation that Silva was probably trouble. Just a little exercise, she told herself. Doesn't mean anything.

Silva
"Sounds good to me, darlin." Silva replied, grinning wickedly. "Not it!" He took a step back, fading into the shadows and running. He liked feeling hunted in this case. "Bet you can't catch me, darlin." He called out, smirking widely.

He didn't want to be TOO hard to find, though, so he ran through a light spot.

Ruya
Uh oh! He was way better in the dark than she was. She probably should have suggested some sort of handicap.

"Oh I'll find you."

She looked down from her perch and spotted a blur of motion through a light spot. Grinning, Ruya leaped off the fence and sped off in that direction.

Silva
He grinned, looking back to see her heading for the light spot. She was faster then he was, so he kicked up his speed another notch, heading for another light spot.

"Keep coming, Darlin." He called out, still running. "I'm sure you can catch me if you try hard enough." The thing was, whether he won or she won he would be happy. But he loved the hunt. It was one of the things that made life worth living.

Ruya
Ruya kept following his voice, as long as he kept talking she'd eventually be able to find him. At least in theory.

"You're gonna give yourself away, talking so much," she grinned, "sounds like you want me to find you."

Silva
"I'm just making it entertaining, darlin." He called out, then headed away from the spot where he had just called from. He smirked, deciding to go silent and head in her direction. Behind her, of course, but slowly, giving her time to get confused.

Ruya
Ruya headed for the spot she'd just heard him from, and landed there. She didn't see any movement in any of the other light spots in the area.

Damn, he must have decided to go silent. She shouldn't have given away her only advantage.

"Nothing more to say?"

She started off in a random direction on foot, hoping he would speak again.

Silva
"Just this." He said, appearing in front of her and kissing her quickly before disappearing again. "And you're going to have to do better than that, darlin."

He was grinning, running through light and dark areas equally just to keep her trying.

Ruya
Ruya stood there blinking for a second.

"But I'm not good in the dark," she said, pretending to pout.

Then she lifted herself back up into the air so she could spy down on him. She followed him above, trying to figure out the best way to catch him. He was in and out of light areas too quick for her to dive and catch him. She'd have to be smart about this and predict where he would go next.

She watched him for a bit and then picked a light spot that seemed likely and dove into it.

Silva
He grunted, hitting the light spot at the same time she did and getting tackled by her. He found himself lying on his back, looking up at her with a little smirk. "Looks like I owe you a kiss, darlin."

The moonlight shined on her hair and pale body, almost casting a glow and sending a rush of excitement through him that he was almost too young to understand. All he knew was that he wanted to kiss her. More now then he had had back on the porch eating cherries.

"Where do you want it?" He asked hoarsely, his toothpick falling from his lips.

Ruya
Ruya shivered a little at the tone of Silva's voice. She couldn't put her finger on it, but something there made her feel all fluttery inside.

She ran a hand up to his head, and gently played with the base of his ear while she replied.

"I guess that depends. Does the game end here or are we going to continue after this?"

Silva
His breathing got shallow and he leaned into her hand. "I get to be it next, Darlin. So yeah, the game goes on." He wanted to touch her, but she was the one in control. "So tell me, darlin. Where do you want to be kissed?"

Ruya
Ruya grinned and turned bright red.

"Let's start slow. I'll take a kiss on the lips."

She leaned in and nibbled on his lower lip a bit before moving in for a slow deep kiss.

Silva
She learned quickly, he thought, groaning and pulling her closer. Maybe they were playing with things they didn't understand... maybe this was a game... maybe it wasn't. But he wasn't thinking about that at the moment, shoving his hands into her hair and pulling her closer. After a few minutes he pulled away, forcing himself not to pant.

"My turn, darlin." He told her, a gleam of anticipation entering his eyes as he let her go. "Run."

Ruya
"No way," Ruya shook her head. "You can see in the dark. You need a handicap of some sort or it won't be any fun."

She looked around.

"We should give you a blindfold of some sort. Then we'll be even."

Silva
He frowned, then shrugged. "Fine, darlin. I'll just not use my nightvision. It's easy enough to turn off." He focused for a second and the green light disappeared, leaving him as night blind as she was... almost.

"Now are we going to play, or not?" He asked, focusing on her since she was still standing in the light.

Ruya
Ruya just laughed and launched herself into the air, speeding for a nearby tree. She knew she could get there before him, and if he really turned off his nightvision it would be tough to find her among all the shadows cast by the leaves.

She zoomed into the tree and skipped around from branch to branch until she was near the top. Then she sat down and listened, to see if she could hear him coming.

Silva
He chased after her, running on foot until he ran into a stick on the ground. He cursed, shoving himself back to his feet and stalking towards the tree. If she had gone to air she would be heading for someplace high.

He stopped, his ears twitching slightly as he listened for any sign of her. He got it when he heard birds take flight. Probably from surprise at their territory being invaded.

He smirked, taking slowly to the air.

Ruya
Ruya couldn't help but giggle up on her perch. He'd never find her up here. And even if he did, she would hear him coming, moving through the leaves.

"Having trouble finding me?," she taunted, as she moved a little higher up the tree.

Silva
That was what he wanted. He smirked, heading for the top of the tree and dropping down on one of the branches. It wasn't as dark here as it was on the ground. He smirked, blending in with the shadows so he could look for her without her noticing.

He might have promised not to use nightvision, but nobody had said anything about blending with the shadows.

Ruya
One of the branches above her shook a little, most likely from the weight of a landing feien. Try as she might she couldn't get her eye on him, though.

To be safe she jumped down a branch and ran to put her back to the trunk of the tree.

Silva
Now... where could she be... He stopped, smirking as an idea hit him. She would be easier to find... if she was making noise. "I'm trying to decide where I want that kiss, darlin..." He called out softly, making sure it was harder to pinpoint.

"I'm tempted to make you kiss my feet." He called again, waiting to see if that pissed her off enough to yell at him.

Ruya
His feet? Ugh.

"That doesn't sound very sanitary," she blurted out without thinking.

Oops. That totally gave away her position. Unfortunately, without knowing where he was she wasn't sure which way to run.

Silva
Found her! He dropped down a few branches, racing towards where her voice had come from, a wicked grin on his lips. He stopped, blinking as he looked around. Now... where exactly was she...

"All right darlin, not the feet. How about the knees?"

Ruya
Ruya grinned, she was not going to fall for the same trick twice. She could feel that he had landed on her branch, so she tried to edge her way around the trunk to the next branch.

"Damnit!"

The next branch apparently had a sibling which was at about head height. She rubbed her smarting ear, and waited for Silva to find her.

Silva
He was behind her before she finished the word, reaching up and helping her rub her injured ear. He leaned forward, brushing his lips against the side of her neck. "Found you darlin."

Ruya
Ruya turned around so she was facing him and leaned into him, liking the feel of his skin against hers.

"The tree cheated, but very well," she sighed. "Where do you want it?"

Silva
"I..." He said, feeling that excited feeling again. He pulled her closer, his hand rubbing her back. "I think I'm going to take a raincheck on that kiss, darlin. For my next dry spell." He pulled her down, sitting on the branch and positioning her so she sat straddling the branch, her back to his chest.

"Tonight I want you to tell me what you dream about, darlin."

Ruya
Ruya was totally thrown off balance, having not expected anything like this. But it felt nice to be near him. She closed her eyes and considered what he had asked.

"What I dream about? You mean literally what I dream about at night? Or what I want for the future?"

Silva
He was so stuck on thinking about his own dream that it took a while for him to realize that she had asked a question. "Either, darlin. Just talk to me." He wanted her to keep his mind off of his dream from the other night... and the uneasy feeling that if he kissed her he might go too far and end up being eaten before his prime.

He reached up, playing with her hair and waiting for her to reply.

Ruya
Ruya smiled and sighed. Just talk? This seemed dangerous. In a way more dangerous than the game they had just been playing.

"Alright, well I had a dream the other night where I was a spider and someone was chasing me with a broom trying to squish me. I woke up before they got me."

She reached around behind her and caught one of his hands, pulling it into her lap so she could play with it. She turned it over, looking at his palm, and ran a finger up the center.

"I dreamed I was an actress once, but the man playing the lead role kept forgetting his lines. What do you dream about Silva?"

Silva
Spider? He almost laughed, watching her play with his hand for a second before he replied. "Usually I don't, darlin. Although sometimes I pick up on a dream if Io's projecting in her sleep. She has nightmares about giant tiger like things trying to eat her."

He debated on telling her... wondering what she would say if she knew, wanting to know... but at the same time hating himself for caring. Finally he spoke. "I did have one dream... but it wasn't a very good one."

Ruya
Ruya lifted his hand up and kissed the palm softly.

"What was it about, this not very good dream of yours?"

Silva
"Well..." He stopped, not sure how to say it. He would probably wind up looking like a jealous idiot again, get kicked out of the tree, and not get snogged for a very long time. "You can't control your dreams, darlin. No matter how much you try something's going to happen that you would never admit to in real life."

He paused, pulling her a little closer. "I dreamed that a very... close friend... of mine was happily mated to a nice guy. They had kids and everything. So I guess it wasn't that bad a dream, after all." He almost sighed. He was a liar. He was a jerk and a liar, he thought, almost feeling the urge to laugh.

And it might not have been such a bad dream... but damned if he would let it happen. Even if it was selfish on his part.

Ruya
Ruya pulled away and turned, so she was straddling the tree facing him.

"How many 'close friends' do you have Silva? I'm going to guess one," she said looking to the side, "because if I find out you have more, after what you did to me with Neruo, I'm going to strangle you."

She looked up at him, and scooted closer, sitting on her knees.

"Do you really think it would be that bad to be mated to me and have kids," she said, totally misunderstanding what made the dream bad. "I mean, it is way too early to know, but as possibilities go..."

She trailed off and looked at her hands.

Silva
He blinked. He had said "Nice" guy, then shrugged, tucking a strand of her hair over her ear. "It's not that, darlin, I--" He stopped, deciding to play this to his advantage. "I was just bothered by it because, because... you deserve better than a punk like me, darlin."

He leaned forward, kissing her gently. "But who am I to complain?"

Ruya
Ruya sat back on her heels and studied Silva for a minute.

"But thats why I like you better than Neruo, because you are kind of a punk."

She shrugged.

"You're exciting, and you make me feel... I don't know. Nevermind, " she finished quickly, shaking her head.

She had already decided this was a bad idea. Silva was a bad idea. He even confirmed it himself.

Silva
"You make me excited, darlin. Like doing things you'd never find me doing with anyone else. You think I'm the type to play tag?" He groaned, sensing her withdrawl. "But you're right, darlin. We've got time."

He leaned back, breaking off a new toothpick and watching her. "You should probably go home, darlin. It's getting dark, your bond might get worried." He reached out, brushing her ear again. "Come back tomorrow? We can play hide and seek."

Ruya
Ruya stood and smiled half-heartedly.

"Sure. If I get a chance, I'll come stop by."

She turned and walked out towards the end of the branch.

"Night Silva."

Silva
He sat there long after she had gone, wondering what in the hell he was getting himself into. After a while he shrugged, shoving himself to his feet and heading for his own house. He would ride this out... it was too damn exciting to do anything else.

And he was starting to become addicted to the taste of strawberries.

Morning Thoughts
I always enjoy myself with Silva, which then I feel odd about. I mean, it should be fine - I'm just having a good time, but then I worry about what might happen if I let my guard down. Does he like me?

Anyway, enough about that. I should be spending less time dwelling on it. I've coninued painting, even working on a few sketches of Averno since I promised her one. I haven't liked any of them enough to show her so far, but I know I will. I get better and better with each one I believe. Someday I want to draw Silva. He'd make an interesting subject.

Again, enough. I also have been trying to keep up on my reading of poetry. Kam has given me some more poets since I could make neither head nor tails of The Wasteland. I think I shall try Emily Dickinson next and see what I think.

Oh and I think Sunil has returned. I heard someone moving around in her closet late last night, but then there was no one there this morning when I went to check. So maybe it was just Susu I heard wandering around. Susu has been totally heartbroken lately, I think he like the rest of us is in shock Sunil would just up and leave him.

Hide and Seek
Ruya
Ruya was out on the porch, watching Rishi. She wasn't going go over to Silva's lawn, but she wasn't going to go hide either.

So she sat out on the top step, staring pensively out across the lawn, thinking about her life.

Silva
He had been waiting... even camped out, although he wouldn't admit it. He had everything set up, Jimi Hendrix playing on the stereo, a cup of black cherry fizz begged off of Ice, and a good mood.

Until he realized she wasn't coming to him. He stood, stretching for a second before debating. If she wasn't coming to him... was he desperate enough to hunt her down?

No.

But he found himself heading for the fence in spite of himself, stopping and sitting on it as he looked through her yard. there was the dog... and there she was.

"Darlin."

Ruya
Ruya looked out at Silva across the lawn and she felt herself relax. She'd been waiting for him, even though she hadn't realized it. She smiled at him and got up, making her way over to the fence to sit beside him.

"Hi Silva."

Silva
"You planned on ditching me, didn't you, darlin?" He asked bluntly, watching her with a slight smirk. "I shouldn't be surprised." He leaned back, propping himself on an elbow and swinging one leg over the side, the other bent in front of him.

"I never asked how the firefly was." Not that he cared, but it would give her something to talk about. And then he wouldn't have to.

Ruya
Ruya frowned slightly and looked away.

"Yes and no. If I had really wanted to ditch you I wouldn't have come and sat on the porch."

She looked down at where she had her hands in her lap.

"He was pretty to have at night, but I let him go the next morning since I wasn't sure how to feed him."

Silva
"Kinda like me, huh?" He muttered, thinking about her comment as he spoke. "Good at night, but not much use in the daylight."

"You know... Ice has this door in her room. It goes to all of these strange places like where Io came from. Don't know where else it goes..." Change the subject, keep to neutral ground... that was good. "One of these days I'm going to see where it goes."

Ruya
Ruya sighed and ignored his effort to change the subject.

"No. That isn't true. You're not like a firefly."

She looked up from her hands at him.

"I just... you make me feel really good, but that means you also have the ability to make me feel really bad. It's just scary, this wanting to be with you."

Silva
She wasn't going with his change of subject. Damn women... keep wanting to harp on the details of relationships until you got sick of them... of course, none of these thoughts showed on his face.

"Darlin... I'm not even a month old yet. And I asked Ice one day... she said we only live a couple of years. Like that firefly of yours." He stopped, trying to think of what he was trying to say. "If I lived every day of those few years scared of getting hurt I would wind up hating myself. That's one of the reasons I'm planning on seeing what's on the other side of the door."

He examined his toothpick for a while before he spoke again. "I might be young, but I know what I want. I'm not going to let the chance of pain stop me from getting it, either. But maybe you haven't figured that out yet."

Silva

Ruya
Ruya looked away again, studying her hands. She couldn't just leap into things the way he was apparently willing to.

"I don't know what I want."

She pulled up her knees and hugged them to herself, looking out over the yard.

"Any guesses on where you'll end up if you take that door? Think there'll be fairies wherever you go?"

Silva
"I told you about Io's dreams, didn't I? If I wind up there..." He shrugged, not mentioning the gigantic tigers. "I might have to deal with more people like her. But I don't think that's the only place it goes."

He thought for a second, looking almost eager. "I want to meet this... Ober guy she mentioned once. The one that works out. Or maybe the guy she talks on the phone with that she calls a pervert. And hell, she doesn't come from this dimension, maybe I could find out where she DOES come from and use it as blackmail or something."

So she didn't know what she wanted... that was fine. But-- "If I go, darlin... for a little while... will you forget about me?" Maybe it would be for the best...

Ruya
Ruya kept looked down at her knees and tried not to cry. He'd probably go leave and decide he never wanted to come back. Besides, who knew how time between dimensions moved. He might leave for a week and come back to find a year had passed.

"No. Do you really want me to? Are you going to forget about me?"

Silva
"Of course not, darlin. I don't think I could even if I tried." He gave her a crooked grin, shrugging slightly. "Doubt Ice would let me stay gone for too long... maybe." Was he lying again? Even he didn't know. Ice was a convenient excuse for coming back, after all. Then there was that little... lifethread thing she did...

"You ever heard a theory about people having... these things called life threads, darlin?" He asked, curious to know if Ice was just BSing him into being paranoid.

Ruya
Ruya looked up at him and blinked.

"Life threads?"

She shook her head, puzzled.

"I've never heard of them. What are they?"

Silva
"Don't let her know I was paying attention, would you? She's a pain in the a** to live with as it is." He took a deep breath, willing to amuse her even if it wasn't true. "Ice says that life is... like a giant blanket. And each living being and non-living being makes up one of the threads in this blanket. See, some of them run side by side, while others just cross once and never see each other again."

"Now usually I would write that off as bullshit, but there's that door of hers. How can there be a door that leads to different dimensions? The only answer is that Ice knows what she's talking about. Because she can see the damn threads." He scowled, feeling like an idiot for believing that... too.

Ruya
Ruya thought about that for a minute, relaxing her legs so they hung out over the edge again. It sounded alright, except that it meant things were predetermined, something she really didn't want to be true.

"It sounds alright, but I don't like it because it makes it sound like we don't have a choice. That who and what we encounter in our lives is already decided."

She kicked her feet a little.

"I don't suppose you still want to play hide and seek?"

Silva
I don't think that's quite what she meant..." He said, looking thoughtful. "I think she meant we were making the blanket as we went along... but oh well." He shrugged, shoving himself to his feet. "You want to hide or should I?"

Ruya
"Oh. Makes sense."

Ruya looked at Silva with frown. He didn't really seem like he wanted to play. Perhaps it would have been better to avoid him, things weren't going very smoothly tonight.

"We don't have to. I just thought you might want to."

She stood as well and reached out a hand for his.

"I'm sorry."

Silva
"No... You're it." He replied, smirking and falling backwards into the yard. "Count to twenty, Darlin."

He didn't want to make it that long a count. If he did she would never be able to find him.

Ruya
Ruya sighed and sat down with her hands over her eyes. She began counting loud and clear so he'd know how much time he had left.

"1... 2... 3... 4... 5... 6... "

Twenty really wasn't a very high number and she was done before she knew it.

"18... 19... 20! Ready or not, here I come!"

Brave words, but honestly where should she even start. She stood and surveyed the yard thoughtfully.

Silva
He was sitting under the tree in the middle of the yard, when she called twenty. He stood, crouching behind the tree trunk and watching her as she watched the yard.

He took a step to the side, wondering if he should make a break for it or not.

Ruya
Ruya didn't see anything moving. Hmm... she had a couple options. Just fly around and look for him or try and get him to talk. She had a feeling that wasn't going to work tonight, so she went with the brute force method.

Launching herself into the air, she headed for the tree in the middle of the yard. She ought to have a good view from one of its top branches.

Silva
She was heading straight for him. He blinked, then took a risky chance, running for it. Right as he ran one of the clouds over the moon moved, beaming light down on him. He almost laughed. Looked like his chance to hunt her might be earlier then he had anticipated.

Ruya
Was that...? Something moved in her field of vision, and Ruya zeroed in on it, thanking the moon for her good luck.

"Gotcha!"

She switched direction and zoomed down towards him.

Silva
"Ooph!" He muttered as she tackled him. That seemed to happen pretty often. "So you do, darlin. Guess I'm not very good at being the prey."

He smirked slightly. "I owe you a kiss?"

Ruya
Ruya grinned and arched an eyebrow at him.

"I didn't know we were playing by the same rules."

She wiggled a little to get more comfortable on top of him.

"I'm not sure. You choose this time."

Silva
He grinned, a wicked gleam in his eyes as he reached down, picking up her hand and bringing it to his lips. With an easy air he brushed a kiss over the inside of her wrist, waiting to see how she reacted.

"My turn to count now, darlin."

Ruya
Ruya laughed, served her right for letting him pick.

"You're a punk," she muttered good naturedly, getting up off him. She stood there for a moment, contemplating hiding places and waiting for him to cover his eyes.

Silva
He liked to hear her laugh. He was still smirking slightly as he covered his eyes. "What should I count to, Darlin? Twenty?" There was this sense of anticipation to the game that he had decided to enjoy to its fullest. He was enough of a hunter to love the thrill of the chase as much as he loved catching the prey.

Ruya
"Sure," she replied absent mindedly, already having staked out her hiding place. Under the steps of her own porch. She ought to just be able to wiggle between the boards and hide in there.

Silva
He counted slowly, letting her take her time. This time he hadn't promised to not use his nightvision, and he wasn't about to remind her of that fact. "Ten... eleven...." Slower and slower the counting went, until he could no longer hear her in his yard.

"Twenty! Ready or not, darlin, here I come." But he didn't move, merely scanned the yard for a few seconds before rising into the air. She wasn't in his yard... that meant she had to be in her own.

He crossed over the fence, examining all the trees and flowers for hints of movement. There, by the tree-- wait, that was a rat. She wouldn't be there...

Ruya
Ruya started to regret her hiding place the minute she got there. There was an earthworm over by her right foot blindly sliding along, and a huge spider off to her left just waiting for something tasty to drop by.

She wasn't even watching Silva, just trying to figure out how not to get so grossed out she made too much noise.

Silva
Huh... no signs of feien, so he was looking in the wrong direction. He turned, examining the house for a few seconds. She had a thing for the porch... maybe she was hiding somewhere near there...

He headed there at an easy jog, anticipation making him want to drag the game out. He was slightly masochistic like that.

Ruya
Oh dear, now there was something with too many legs near her other ankle. Ruya shifted, choosing the earthworm and shaking her other leg to dislodge her unwanted new friend.

"Get off," she muttered, wondering what sort of germs bugs carried on their feet.

Silva
He was standing on the steps when he heard her voice. It was muffled, but close enough for him to get a pin on. He jumped down, examining the step closely until he caught sight of the hole. Slowly he moved towards it, peeking in.

He blinked at the sight of Ruya shaking her leg, trying to get a bug off of it... "Having problems, darlin?"

Ruya
Ruya looked up to see Silva looking down at her and frowned.

"Yes. Stupid bug won't get off my leg."

She looked back down and shook her leg a little more forcefully now that she didn't have to worry about making noise. The bug clung on courageously despite her shaking and she looked back up at Silva.

"Help?"

Silva
He snorted, squeezing through the hole and looking the bug over for a second as she squirmed. "Well... I could probably kill it... but what's in it for me?"

He pulled the chain off from his waist, waiting for her to reply. He couldn't help but be slightly amused.

Ruya
Ruya blinked at Silva's chain, a little startled by his assumption she wanted it killed.

"I don't want you to kill it. I just need it to come off and I don't want to touch it."

She made a face, bothered just thinking about how dirty something that spent its time on the ground would be.

"Can you just pull it off and let it go please? And you can have whatever you want in return."

She was too occupied with the bug to realize that was probably a dumb thing to say.

Silva
He smirked widely, wrapping the chain around the bug and tossing it off. It hit the ground and curled into a ball for a few minutes before crawling away. "I like that promise, darlin. I think I'll keep it for later, though. Now let's get out of this place."

He reached out for her hand, waiting patiently for her to accept it.

Ruya
Ruya smiled at Silva and reached out to take his hand as she moved in closer to him.

"Thanks."

Silva
"Not a problem, darlin." He pulled her close, brushing a kiss over her neck before leading her out the hole and up the stairs of the porch. "Looks like I found you."

He sat down, making himself comfortable, his legs sprawled out in front of him. "And it's too dark for you to find me now." He went on, lazily pulling her closer. "I wonder what we should do next..."

Ruya
Ruya leaned in close to Silva, laying her head on his shoulder.

"You just earned a kiss of your choice from me. Unless you want to add it to your running total."

She turned her head and gently kissed his neck a couple times, moving up towards his ear.

Silva
"Mmmm..." He relaxed, pulling her closer. "You sure your bond won't come out and catch us..." He almost purred as she hit an extra sensetive spot. "Making out on the front porch?" He finished, not sounding too concerned.

Ice would have... but somehow he didn't think Ruya's bond was as... nosy as his was.

Ruya
"Yes," she murmured. "Kam's busy with her daughter. She won't bother to come look out here."

She layed her head back down on his shoulder with a contented sigh and closed her eyes.

"You're nice to be around Silva."

Silva
"Mmmm..." So he wasn't really paying attention... but hell, what could you expect? He sighed, enjoying the fell of her pressed against him, the dark night lit by a half moon and stars, the sound of the breeze.

His hand ran up her back, rubbing slowly until it hit the base of her wings. "Darlin?" He asked, playing almost absent-mindedly with the spot. "Tell me a secret."

Ruya
Ruya stopped breathing for a second as Silva started playing with the base of her wings and shivered a little before leaning into his hand.

"A secret?"

She sighed and opened her eyes, looking out onto the lawn.

"Sometimes I can't help myself from rearranging and organizing things. It upsets me when things are messy or out of place."

She said it very quietly, almost mumbling.

"Tell me one?"

Silva
He paused, jerked from his enjoyment of the look on her face. She was a little compulsive, huh? Made sense. He doubted many people would have reacted to the bug like she had. But she wanted a secret, huh?

"Hmm... I like to kill things, darlin. Especially rats." He finally said, not sure if that counted as a secret or not. "They tend to buck before they die."

Ruya
Ruya sat up, surprised, and looked over at Silva for a second.

"You like to kill things? Like you actually derive pleasure from ending their lives?"

Silva
He blinked, wondering what the problem was. "Darlin, I'm a hunter. I kill things that carry diseases and cause problems. And if I enjoy the ride a little along that way it doesn't mean I'm not doing something good."

"Rats are dangerous things, darlin. And they cause all sorts of disorder."

Ruya
"I suppose."

Ruya shook her head a little.

"I would just never enjoy killing something."

She layed her head back down on his shoulder again, scooting close.

Silva
He relaxed, only then realizing that he had tensed up slightly. What was wrong with killing rats? Ice had never seemed to mind. Of course, something told him that Ice had a vicious side of her own. But it didn't matter now. She didn't seem that bothered by it now.

He ran his hand up her arm, playing with her hair then rubbing the base of her ear. "I finally got my rope, darlin. I'm going to have to try that ferret gliding idea. You think you'd want to watch?"

Ruya
Ruya smiled and leaned into Silva's hand. She loved being touched.

"Sure," she whispered. "You still owe me a ride too."

She snuck an arm around his waist and ran her hand along his side.

Silva
"I do, don't I?" He smirked slightly, his hand leaving her ear and touching her chin. He held her still as he leaned forward, brushing a kiss over her lips. "But later, darlin. Right now it's time for good little girls to go to bed."

He leaned in again, deepening the kiss slowly for a few minutes before pulling back and smirking slightly. "That includes you." His thumb reached up, brushing over her bottom lip before he let her go.

Ruya
"But I'm not ti-"

Ruya yawned, interrupting herself. When she was finished she laughed softly and stood, using Silva's shoulder to push herself upright.

"Guess I am. Good night Silva."

She smiled and leaned down to kiss his forehead. Then she walked over behind him and flew up and into the kitchen window, disappearing into her house.

Silva
He stood, stretching and watching the house for a few seconds before jumping off the steps and heading for his own house. The compulsive thing was interesting... and could be used to his advantage with a little work. It had helped with the hunting thing, after all.

He levitated himself up to the open window, sneaking into Ice's room and heading for his stuffed bed, wondering if he would get any sleep... or if he should even bother trying.

Neruo Visits
Neruo
Neruo stretched and floated outside, liking the smell of the warm breeze as he drifted upon it. It was such a nice day. He had spent most of the day inside, practicing calligraphy with his new items from the Feien shop. He had begun to paint, and wanted to get some tips from Ruya.

Or maybe he just used that excuse just to see her...

She doesn't want anything like that. he kept telling himself. I'm such a loser sometimes that it's embarassing...

He found a stable slot on the fence and perched.

Ruya
Ruya was upstairs in her room painting by the window when she spotted a flash of orange out of the corner of her eye. That color could only belong to Neruo.

Ruya smiled and put down her paints, stepping out the partially opened window.

"Hi Neruo," she called. "I'm so glad you decided to visit. How have you been?"

Neruo
The orange one glanced up and saw her in the window. He cheerfully waved. It was so good to see her. He decided to fly up there, and did so slowly, as he always did. He reached the sill of the window and stopped, fluttering just out of reach. He smiled.

"I'm fine. You?" He looked inside and saw a flash of her paint set. He felt proud suddenly. "I got some items like the paints to the other day...And a quill, too, which I'm learning to use in calligraphy. I was wondering if you could give me painting tips. I tend to make quite a mess..."

Ruya
Ruya stepped back inside and guestured for Neruo to join her.

"Sure. I'm really not very good, but I find it helps to have a drop cloth down to catch any paint you drip. I like to use napkins. They're relatively absorbent and they come in good sizes for a work area."

She paused and thought for a second.

"If I'm going to be doing a lot of painting I also try to wrap something around myself. It is only a temporary solution, but I've been using some old doll aprons of Kam's."

She started picking up the paints, to put them away on a low shelf Kam had installed for her so the pixapets wouldn't knock them over and stain the carpet.

"So what have you been painting?"

Neruo
Neruo smiled and flew in, landing quieting next to Ruya. He took down a mental list of necessary painting supplies. He was alright with painting, but tripping over paint containers did prove to be an occasional problem. And LF didn't have any dolls, but paint on his skin didn't bother him much. He liked other colors other than orange anyway.

He shrugged. "I've been painting mostly what I feel. I think it's better than writing in a diary. It's less work, I think. LF says they look nice, but I'm not sure I agree."

He walked over to her. "How have you been lately?"

Ruya
Ruya laughed and sat down on the inside of the windowsill cross-legged.

"I agree. Painting is a great way to work out emotions, but I'm not sure mine means much to anyone except me."

She reached up to grab his hand and pull him down so he could sit with her.

"And I've been well. I've been reading, painting. I went to the tavern and signed up to work as a waitress."

She looked up at him.

"So we'll have to coordinate shifts so we can work together."

She shifted her gaze and studied her hands. Talking about the tavern brought Silva to mind, but she didn't really want to discuss him with Neruo.

Neruo
He chuckled, smiling, and sat down with her. He folded his wings and put his chin in his hands, watching her.

"We'll have to coordinate shifts. I'm not sure I'd want to be there alone." He smiled again. He tilted his head, thinking.

What would it be like? It'll be fun! I'll learn to do so many things, and I'll be with friends.

Are you sure about that? What about...him? What ABOUT him? Hey...why am I having this retarded dialouge with myself? Silva doesn't matter. That's between Ruya and him. It doesn't really concern me anyway.

He huffed without realizing it. How...frustrating. Why'd that voice have to be so...negative?

Ruya
"I think it'll be fun," she said cheerfully. "If its slow we'll be able to hang out and just chat."

She glanced over at Neruo quizzically. He seemed to be thinking about something that bothered him.

"Something bothering you?"

Neruo
Neruo looked up suddenly, forgetting what it was that he was thinking about. It was unlike him, but, being around her seemed to have that effect on him. He smiled.

"Nope. I'm fine. It's just..." He trailed off. Perhaps she knew what it was like?

"Have you ever heard this vioce in your head that couldn't stop talking about all the bad things in life?" He chuckled. How ridiculous. "It's difficult to get anything done..."

Ruya
Concerned, Ruya looked over at Neruo.

"No, I can't say I do, but it sounds like it would be tough to get things done."

She leaned a little closer to him and looked him in the eyes.

"Are you sure nothing is bothering you? You seem distracted. You can talk to me Neruo."

Neruo
Neruo looked up suddenly. Was he spacing out? But, why?

"Oh, no, Ruya. I'm fine. Really." He smiled at her, hoping that it would dispell any doubts she had. He honestly wasn't sure if anything was wrong...wait...

Yes I am, but I wouldn't want to bother her with any of MY problems. She's got much more important things to do.

"...would you mind showing me some of your paintings...?"

Ruya
Neruo's request surprised Ruya and she blushed, before slowly standing.

"Sure. They really aren't very good..."

She walked over to the shelf with the paints and pulled down a handful of papers before returning to where Neruo was seated. Nervously she handed them to him, unsure what she would say about each of them if he asked.

"I made them for me, so its hard to know what other people would see in them," she explained shyly.

Neruo
Neruo's eyes turned serious as he examined the paintings. They were made with such depth, thought and character...He didn't know where to begin with his compliments. He was truely impressed. He'd have to practice more if he were to make her something worthy of wall space next to these.

"Very...exquisite! I wish I could paint like this...with such...feeling. I'm afraid I become too boring sometimes. I'm not too...emotional. Not like him..."

Ruya
Ruya blushed even deeper as Neruo complimented her paintings. She hadn't made them for other people to see, but it turned out having someone else look at them and be impressed meant a lot to her.

"Him?"

She asked it without thinking, and then realized exactly who Neruo must mean. Her hands suddenly became very interesting.

"I'm sure you have emotions Neruo even if you don't choose to express them as vocally as some others."

She nodded seriously and looked up.

"You have a unique personality Neruo, and thats what will come through in your paintings. You should be proud to be who you are. You're a good person. You're kind and caring, a wonderful friend."

Ruya paused and took a deep breath, reaching for her paintings back, having startled herself with how much she had to say.

Neruo
Neruo relectantly gave them back, committing every pigment and brushstroke to memory. He'd need to practice in order to gain skill...He smiled and a slight pink flush came to his cheeks as well. He didn't mean to startle or bring up bad memories with her. He dashed any other thoughts from his head and leaned over to her.

He wrapped his orange arms around her, smiling brightly. "Thank you, Ruya. I thought for a moment that I had become boring to you...I'm glad to see that it isn't so..."

Ruya
Ruya wrapped her arms around Neruo as well and held him tight.

"Of course not. Now did you happen to remember to bring those seeds?"

She enjoyed holding him for a moment before letting go.

Neruo
"Ahh..." He choked. In all his preparation, he had forgotten something ESSENTIAL. ...He'd have to punish himself later. Not in front of a lady. He tugged at one of his curls before appologizing.

"I'm so sorry...I...forgot them." He sighed, defeated. She wouldn't be mad, would she? He hoped not.

He nodded, determined. He'd make it up to her...somehow.

Ruya
Ruya smiled and put a hand lightly on his shoulder.

"Its no problem at all."

She stood and absent-mindedly offered him a hand up as well.

"I want to show you something I found. I think you might appreciate it as much as I do."

Neruo
He looked up at her, almost quizzically, and took her hand. He stood slowly, wondering what it was that she had to show him. Another painting? A plant? He racked his brain, but couldn't come up with a definate answer.

Surprise, surprise, I suppose. he thought.

Ruya
Leading him by his hand, Ruya took Neruo to the windowsill and then let go. She pointed at one of the trees in her own yard.

"That is where we are going. Follow me and try to be quiet, ok?"

Ruya leaped off the windowsill and with a glance at Neruo, took off for the tree. She zoomed in and landed carefully on the outer part of a branch about halfway up the tree.

Neruo
Neruo tilted his head to one side and leaped off the ledge, his orange wings flowing out to his sides. He wished her were much faster as he floated slowly to the branch where Ruya waited. He shouted an appology on his way to the tree.

"Sorry about being so slow!"

Ruya
Ruya held a finger up to her lips, as Neruo yelled. As he reached the branch, she leaned over and whispered.

"No problem. We've got all the time in the world. But you have to be quiet or you'll scare them."

Ruya took Neruo's arm and started farther in on the branch, going slowly and carefully. Eventually she crouched down and pointed to the branch below them.

"Look," she said quietly. "Baby birds. I've been watching them."

On the branch below was a nest of newborn robins, bald with their eyes still closed and all peeping quietly amongst themselves.

Neruo
Neruo's eyes went wide and he smiled. He was doingh is best to be quiet, watching the baby birds wiggle and chirp in the nest. He couldn't help but think about how adorable and helpless they were. He was glad, though, that they had a wonderful caretaker in Ruya. He brushed a few leaves from his hair.

"They are...darling, I think." he said quietly. "I'm glad they have someone like you to watch over them."

He picked another branch higher up and floated to it, sitting on it carefully. He swung his legs, looking down at her, smiling.

Ruya
Ruya looked up from the baby birds to Neruo and offered him a particularly bright smile. Then she flew up to join him on the higher branch, settling down not too far from him.

"It has been so amazing to watch them. I can't believe that they'll grow up to be big birds like their mother. They're so small and helpless right now."

Neruo
Neruo tilted his head. He sighed inwardly. His head seemed to buzz with inner conversation, but he tried his best to concentrate.

"I wonder what it was like to be a baby? I don't remember. I don't remember much before I met LF..." He trailed off, rubbing strongly on his left wrist.

Ruya
Ruya let out a puff of air and stared down at the nest. She didn't really remember being newly out of the bloom either.

"I don't really remember either. I've never really thought much about the past."

Neruo
"You don't think about the past?" He said absently. "I figured you would, since you are a Memory-elemental, right?"

This is never going to work. he thought angrily. I might as well just give up already.

Ruya
Ruya glanced over at Neruo curiously. She no longer worried about not having magic, but it was still a frustration for her.

"My magic is very weak, I guess."

She shrugged, trying to look unconcerned. Life seemed to go just fine without magic.

"I can't change what has already happened, so why worry about it? That's what I decided anyway. I worry about the future instead."

She laughed softly. Worrying about the future really hadn't done her any good either.

Neruo
Neruo chuckled. "I don't have any magic, either, so I wouldn't worry about it." He sighed. "i really don't worry about much of anything, really."

He hopped off the branch and onto a lower, thicker one. He began to pace. "I really don't do much of anything, now that I think about it. No wonder I have hardly any friends. I don't worry, I don't flirt, I don't compete, I don't cry, I don't dance..."

He curled his fingers into a fist angrily and punched the tree itself. Though it did not make much of an impact, Neruo was surprised at himself.

"I. Don't. Do. ANYTHING."

He finally threw his head into the tree and fell to his knees. Spots of red appeared in his bright orange hair and he took to the air by falling from the branch.

He had to get away. Now.

Ruya
Ruya just sat on the branch paralyzed by shock. She had thought something was wrong earlier, but this was a bit more than she had expected.

"Neruo...," she said softly, more to herself than anything else.

She stood as he fell off the branch and watched him go, speechless. She wished she had understood what had just happened.

Neruo
The world was spinning, but he had to maintain his altitude. He had to make it home. There was no alternative. He could feel the warmth from his head reach down to his face. He knew he was bleeding, and the pain was very intense. He had to own up, though. He wouldn't let Ruya see him like this.

Finally, he made it to the fence. Almost home. He took one last look at the tree, a solitary tear mixing iwth the crimson sea flowing from his sunset curls. He struggled and then floated away. Towards home.

Troubles Above, Troubles Below
The oddest thing happen today. It actually was quite scary. Neruo came to visit, which was nice. It was good to see him and he complimented my paintings. That made me feel all sort of warm and happy, so I decided to show him the birds' nest I've been watching for a little bit. I thought he was enjoying himself, but then he just fell apart. He hit himself and said some awful things. I knew he sometimes seemed to feel insecure, but I had no idea that he felt so strongly inside. His calm exterior fooled me into thinking everything below the surface was calm as well.

I have to wonder if I am the one who pushed him over the edge. Was it my fault? I don't know what to do. I would like to see him to verify that he is ok, but I worry that somehow I'll make him feel bad again.

Maybe I should paint something for him?

I wish I had someone to talk to about things like this. Silva hasn't really been around the last day or so, but even if he was it isn't like he could help me.

Oh and last but not least, Sunil is home. I haven't seen her but Kam said something about it. She told me not to bother Sunil and that she wasn't feeling well.

I shouldn't bother her?! Something seems amiss here. Some espionage may be in order.

Home Again, Home Again
I made a critical miscalculation and it may be fatal to my plans for the future. I was stupid, unprepared, and I believe I have blown my chances to ever merge with a gemstone or quest for immortality.

I just can't believe the power I gave up through my mistake.

I am nothing. A shadow in my own house, afraid to venture outside and meet with other feien. Surely Tosten has squealed by now and I... I am apparently so stupid I passed up the most important opportunity of my short (and growing ever shorter) feien life.

After a brief visit to the store, I have returned to my house, but I have not alerted anyone here except Susu and Kam to my presence. I have no desire to see anyone else especially perfect perky little Ruya. I'm sure she would never make the mistake I have and that makes me so angry.

My fingers are bloody where the nails have almost ripped out. I keep dreaming about being trapped in a box and I wake tearing at the wall by my bed. I've actually scratched bloody grooves in the wall there my dream driven clawing is so frantic. It scares Susu, I can tell. It scares me, but I can't do anything about it.

I just can't get motivated to do anything. I can't meditate, I don't feel like working out, and I just get frustrated when I try to read. I can tell nothing will be right until I fix this. I only wish I knew how. I only wish it was going to be as easy as apologizing to Corvus for my ignorance.

Silva Returns and Neruo Begins
Silva
Silva hauled the box of pocky out of the house, muttering under his breath. It wasn't heavy, but it was a lot larger than anything he had carried before. He would just have to drag it across his backyard and hers to leave it on the step.

That way Ice would stop bugging him about it already being the day after his summonday. He shrugged, holding the box on his head, his hands grasping the sides so it wouldn't fall off.

Ruya
Ruya skipped out of the kitchen and onto her porch, a tiny rolled up piece of paper stuck under one arm and her rapier tied to her waist. She was all ready to travel, but out of habit she glanced around the yard. She didn't see anything, so she got ready to take off, launching herself into the air.

On her way around to the street, though she spotted Silva and landed on the fence with a smile on her face.

"Hi Silva," she shouted cheerily.

Ice
He looked up, dropping the box with a grunt for a second. "Hello, darlin. I uh..." He stopped, grabbing the box again. "Was told to give this to you. Something about a summonday... don't really know, but if it shuts Ice up."

He levitated up, still holding the box. "You goin somewhere?"

Ruya
She grinned, so pleased to see him.

"Another gift? You're so sweet Silva. Come closer and I'll be sure to thank you."

She giggled and beckoned him forward playfully.

"It looks a bit heavy for me. Maybe you could help me get it over to my house?"

She avoided the last question, sure it would cause trouble if she answered it.

Silva
Actually--" He stopped, smirking slightly. "Yeah. I thought I might make up for not being around lately." He moved closer, but was unable to get his reward while keeping the damn box from taking a fall. "Why don't I get this over to your place, then you can... thank me."

He missed making out, being kissed and hugged. He was almost... hungry for a little touch. But wait... she hadn't told him where she was going. Hmm...

Ruya
"I noticed you weren't around. You'll have to tell me what sort of exciting adventures you were up to."

She winked, obviously thinking he'd just been hanging out inside for a couple days.

"And that sounds great. I'll lead."

Ruya turned and hopped off the fence to head back to her porch. She could hopefully stash the picture somewhere in the kitchen without him really noticing.

Silva
He followed her, enjoying the way she moved until he noticed something... odd. She had a blade on her. And a piece of paper. Well she had said she liked to paint. Might be a good idea to "Admire" her work. She was ever so much sweeter when she thought he actually cared.

"What's with the paper, darlin? Draw something?"

Ruya
Ruya stopped for a second and swallowed before turning to look at Silva. She blinked a little before replying.

"Yes. I painted something for Neruo since the last time I saw him he wasn't feeling very well."

Ruya avoided going into details, not wanting to tell Silva about Neruo's breakdown without Neruo's permission.

"So what have you been up to the last few days?"

Ruya turned again, continuing towards the porch.

Silva
Painted something for... Neruo? That suicidal b*****d has a breakdown and she paints something for him? And HE, Silva, had actually cheered the sonuvabitch up?! While Ruya was painting-- He took a deep breath, forcing himself to calm down.

"How... nice." He muttered, chewing on his toothpick. "Or not." He jumped up onto the porch, dropping the box for a few moments as he dealt with the fact that the stranger had been right. He stopped, remembering her other question. "I've been... around."

Ruya
"Oh, okay."

Ruya stopped by the box and stood with her hands clasped, resisting the urge to fidget.

"Something wrong?"

She frowned a little and glanced at him. He didn't seem very happy to see her. Had he been avoiding her maybe? She had assumed the stuff about Ice insisting he give her the pocky was some sort of story because he didn't want to admit what a softy he was, but maybe... maybe he hadn't wanted to give her anything. Ruya studied her feet and wondered what was going on.

Silva
He blinked, then pulled her into a tight hug, burying his face in her hair. "Damn but I've missed you." He muttered, wanting to get closer. He wanted to believe she was the one that had made the mess with Neruo, but something told him the kid had done it all on his own.

That... and he kind of liked how dangerous she seemed because of that. His hand reached down, rubbing against the base of her wings, his other hand keeping her close. "Didn't know if I would ever see--" He stopped, not wanting to talk about the jungle.

Ruya
Ruya lifted her arms to hug Silva back, dropping the painting so it fluttered down onto the porch.

"I missed you too," she said, a little confused about the seemingly sudden change in attitude.

She leaned into him and brought her hands up to hold his face out so she could look at him.

"I decided you were right by the way. Life is too short to not do the things you enjoy."

She moved her head forward to kiss him softly on the lips.

Silva
He kissed her back, trying to draw it out as long as possible. Inwardly he was warring with himself... or the other him. Did loyalty really matter that much? Did it matter if she had the orange boy chasing after her as long as she clung to him when he was around?

It was just physical, after all... right? He pulled her down, sitting on the porch and holding her as they kissed, forcing the coldly amused voice to the back of his head. Finally he pulled away, nuzzling her neck. "Don't go, darlin." He said huskily.

Ruya
Ruya loved the way he made her feel like the most beautiful girl in the world when he kissed her like that. She loved holding him close while he held her and letting her hands wander across his bare skin.

"Go where?"

She said it fuzzily, concentrating more on how nice this felt than anything else.

Silva
"Nowhere, darlin. Just stay right here..." He shoved both hands into her hair, pulling her closer so that his mouth barely touched hers as he spoke. "Love... me..." He whispered, mindlessly right before kissing her again.

Was that what he wanted? To be loved? To be on her mind, in her heart... in her paintings? Like an obsession or something? He didn't know. He didn't really care, all he knew was that the last thing he wanted was for her to leave his arms and go directly to that masochistic b*****d with emotional problems.

Ruya
Ruya ended the kiss, pulling back and letting a small contented sigh escape her lips. She opened her eyes slowly and looked over at Silva, thinking.

Love him? What did he mean? Emotionally, physically, or... both? She tried to shift her position and noticed her rapier. Ah, she had been on her way to visit Neruo. Well, she could visit him later. She was still worried seeing her would upset him again somehow. She frowned, feeling guilty for some reason.

"Do I ever make you feel bad about yourself Silva?"

It just slipped out, words forming before her mind even fully processed the thought that sparked it.

Silva
He jerked at the words, his mind racing as he realized something. She felt guilty because of the orange boy. What had the dumbass done when they had been talking? It must have been-- He stopped, running a hand over her cheek and pausing as he tried to come up with something that wasn't derrogatory to her so-called friend.

"You're making me feel damn good right now, darlin." He said, giving her a slight smirk that passed as a grin. "I don't see how you could make anyone feel bad." His thumb ran over her bottom lip. "Not with that smile."

Ruya
Ruya smiled and untied her rapier from her waist, leaning back to place it on top of the picture and sliding them away from her. She turned back and placed her hands on his shoulders to push him down.

"You're hot," she whispered with a smirk. "I'm glad you're mine."

Silva
He blinked at the mine comment, then shrugged. This seemed like as good-- Oh, s**t. She was about to eat him, wasn't she? He gulped, forcing his mind to work as his body betrayed him. He wanted to be kissed... but not eaten. Being eaten would suck. Seriously. He had almost been eaten by a snake just the other day, after all.

"Da-darlin--" He said, sounding pathetic for a second. "Wouldn't you rather just... cuddle?"

Ruya
Ruya stopped and looked at Silva like he'd suddenly turned purple.

"Just cuddle?"

She sat back and frowned. First he saved kisses instead of collecting them and now he just wanted to cuddle?

"What is wrong Silva? First you save up kisses instead of redeeming them and now you just want to cuddle?"

She was totally confused. He seemed to have been enjoying himself earlier. What had changed?

Silva
"Well, darlin... it's like the cherry--" He started out, then stopped, realizing how cowardly he sounded. And here he had been yelling at the orange boy about being a coward. He scowled, then clenched his jaw for a second.

"Fine. Let's do this." He finally muttered, looking martyred. He reached up, rubbing the base of her ear then pulling her down. "You're just lucky you're so damn cute." He whispered.

Ruya
Ruya snorted, but let him pull her down.

"You look like you think making out with me is gonna be painful."

She rolled her eyes.

"I can't possibly be that terrible."

She kissed him, barely brushing her lips against his while she slid a hand around his back to play with the base of his wings.

Silva
He kissed her back, running his tongue over her teeth and wondering if her jaw would unhinge somehow. It would be cool to watch... but he didn't really think he wanted to see it first hand. Besides, didn't mating include baby making?

He stopped thinking when her hands hit the base of his wings, a rush of pleasure making him forget what he had been thinking. He liked that... he liked that a lot. If she kept doing things like that he might LET her eat him.

His arms wrapped around her, pulling her closer and playing with the spot at the base of her wings. What felt good to him probably felt good to her as well.

Ruya
"Oh."

Ruya couldn't help but gasp when Silva touched the base of her wings, it felt so good. She felt warm and her cheeks were flushed, her breath came quicker, and she wasn't sure if an owl swooped out of the sky she would even notice.

"That feels really good," she panted before kissing him again, harder.

Silva
She had touched that spot before, it had felt good, but this... he didn't know what it was, maybe it was just because they had been kissing for longer than usual. He grunted, leaning back so that her hands pressed harder into the spot.

This, he thought, barely comprehensive, was the reason he wanted to keep her for himself. His hand rubbed the spot on her wings, just lying there, feeling as if the world revolved around them. Just them. "Mine." He muttered into her kiss.

Females don't stay loyal to men like us....

Neruo
Neruo, fresh from a bath, floated outside and into Ruya's backyard. He carried with him one of his paintings. He worked very hard on it, and wished to give it to Ruya for being such a jerk the last time they met. He stopped and lit on the fence to check the coin purse he carried with him. Inside was a small gemstone he found while rummaging through LF's things. His bondmate let him have it.

He fixed his hair and floated along to the back porch.

This'll be fun, I think...

The orange one flew towards it, his ears picking up strange sounds. Moaning? Panting? Was someone in pain? He flew quickly closer, seeing Ruya and Silva...doing interesting things.

He couldn't help but turn slightly pink. He felt embarassed for them. He chuckled, standing up straight.

"I see that you're quite busy, Ruya. I can come back another time, if you wish..."

Ruya
Ruya's head jerked up and she flushed, turning a bright red as she scrambled away from Silva.

"Neruo. Hi..."

Ruya stood and coughed, unsure why she had done that. So what if she was with Silva when Neruo showed up? She couldn't bring herself to sit back down though, so she just looked between Neruo and Silva helplessly.

Silva
Silva sat up lazily, still in a good mood from the snogging, as well as amused at the fact that the kid had walked in. There wasn't a better way to show who the guy in control was, after all.

"Orange boy. Need any... punishing lately?" He asked, sprawling slightly as he reached out to find his toothpick.

Neruo
Neruo smirked. That was certainly one thing he hadn't been expecting, but he'd roll with it just fine anyway. He noticed the painting on the floor and bent to pick it up. He kept it rolled, in case Ruya had dropped it on the way to some other place before she was...distracted.

He nonchalantly walked up to Ruya, handing her the gemstone which he had in the coin purse. He watched Silva from the corner of his eye, but wasn't threatened by him at all. He explained.

"Consider it a gift of apology. I was very rude the other day. I wanted to tell you that I'm sorry, and that I'm alright."

He turned his head to Silva. "No, I'm in no need of punishment today, thank you. And besides, you seem preoccupied."

Ruya
Ruya took the gemstone without protest and glanced at Silva before she spoke.

"Thank you. You didn't need to apologize, but I'm glad you're alright."

She hung her head a little, feeling guilt settle into her stomach, and mumbled.

"The painting is for you. I was going to bring it over and make sure you were alright."

((The painting.))

Silva
"Well, I was preoccupied, but you just ruined the mood." Silva replied, scowling at the sight of Ruya accepting the gift. In his mind it meant that she now owed the other male. He didn't like that. But he shrugged it off. She had given him a painting, after all.

"So what do we do now, sit around and chat?" He snorted, finding the idea amusing.

Neruo
Neruo unfurled his other gift to her. A painting he did, which took him a few days. He was very proud of it. Minimal mess with maximal effort. He liked it. He handed it to her gingerly and walked to the edge of the porch to sit.

"I wouldn't mind chatting, but this is Ruya's porch, so I think she should decide."

((The painting.))

Ruya
Ruya took the painting eagerly, wanting to see Neruo's art.

"Thank you Neruo," she said as she looked at it. "I'm so happy you painted me something. I find it hard to show other people my art, so this means a lot to me."

She rolled the painting back up and placed it behind her with the gem and her rapier. Then she turned and reached out as if to hug Neruo before getting a good look at him.

She stopped short and her mouth dropped open, her arms dropping to her side. How could she have not noticed before this? She had been too busy worrying about herself.

"What happened?"

She reached out and gently traced a cut on his torso with her finger.

Silva
Silva gritted his teeth, his good mood suddenly gone as he watched Ruya almost hug the other male. Then she ran a hand, tracing the cut that the b*****d had inflicted on hismelf. He couldn't help it, he spoke.

"Yeah, kid. Tell her what happened. Tell her why it wasn't a lawnmower what did it."

Neruo
Neruo watched her fingers trace one of the deepest cuts on his chest and sighed. It felt...good. No wonder why Silva so enjoyed physical pleasure. He tugged at one of his curls.

"It's nothing to worry about. Really. I'm all disinfected, so there's nothing to worry about..."

Why did she have to see me like this? It is better, though, than having her see me bleed like some chewed up toy...

Ruya
"How do you -" Ruya bit back what she was going to say to Silva. How and what he knew about this were unimportant. She didn't think he had been the one to cause Neruo pain, so there was no reason to be angry at him.

"Being disinfected once isn't enough, you'll have to stay clean until they're fully closed," she murmured, distracted.

She crossed her arms over her chest and looked at Neruo with a sigh.

"Disinfected or not, what happened to you?"

Silva
He blinked, wondering if she had suspected him of doing it. But she knew he didn't cut. He had a blade, but he used his chain as a weapon. She knew that as well as he did... right? Silva shrugged it off, wondering if the b*****d would lie. It would be easy enough to blame Silva for his wounds.

He didn't think te kid was stupid enough to do that, though. Not with him stand-er sitting there. He said nothing, watching the orange male with a predatorial look.

Neruo
Neruo chuckled and put the coin purse down. He stretched and sighed, his orange curls bobbing with his movement.

"Again, I tell you that it is unimportant. And as Silva mentioned, it was not a lawnmower, although that would have been quite a bit more entertaining..."

He looked at her again. That answer would not be enough. He didn't want to worry her further by denying anything.

"I cut myself. But please don't worry about it. It was a sudden lapse in judgement, and I guarantee that it will never happen again."

Ruya
"You did this to yourself?"

Ruya just looked at Neruo in disbelief.

"I don't understand. I don't understand at all, but I'm glad you're alright."

She bit her lip, again thinking about herself. What on earth would all three of them talk about? It was clear the two males didn't really get along.

She spoke finally, her curiousity warring with her common sense.

"I'm not being a very good hostess. Would anyone like something to eat or drink?"

Silva
"I wouldn't mind a drink, darlin." Silva said, not moving from where he was watching Neruo. He had something he wanted to talk to the other male about, suddenly. And he didn't have a problem with using deception to keep her from hearing. "Water will do."

Neruo
Neruo smiled. "Water would be fine for me too, please. Thank you." He nodded and sat down, watching Silva curiously.

Ruya
Ruya nodded and headed into the house through the kitchen window. Water was actually a bit of a difficult task. She could get it from the sink and risk drenching herself or try and figure out how to get it out of the Brita in the fridge that she could even budge.

After some thought Ruya decided perhaps Kam would be the best option and headed farther into the house and up the stairs.

"Kam?"

Silva
When she was out of sight Silva turned, looking at Neruo through heavy lidded eyes. "You know what she asked me tonight, kid? She asked me if she ever made me feel bad about myself."

He paused, waiting for that question to sink in before he went on. "She was worried that because you screwed up that somehow it was her fault. Now I'm not going to lie, I don't give a flying rat's a** about most of the people I've met, including--no, ESPECIALLY you. But I don't like what you're doing to my girl with this."

Neruo
Neruo shrugged, holding his head in his hands, watching the other. "I told her, and you, that it was finished. I told her that I did to to myself. When she comes back, I'll tell her know that she played no real part in it, and that she shouldn't feel bad. What more do you want me to do? I didn't mean for it to hurt her. Did you really think it was my intention to cause her pain?"

Silva
"I honestly don't know what to think, kid. Maybe you telling her that will help, maybe it won't. But you had better keep your word, kid, or I'll make sure that you can never hurt her again." He sat back, wondering where Ruya had gotten to.

"Think she needs help?"

Neruo
"I will keep my word, Silva." he said seriously. He hadn't been this serious since...never. He sighed and stood, offering a hand to Silva.

"We best see if the little lady needs our manly assistance." He chuckled.

Ruya
"Sure. Anytime."

Kam made her way back out of the kitchen as Ruya took two tiny feien sized cups, one in each hand and floated towards the window.

"Drinks," she said while she watched one cup and then the other, "are ready."

She made her way down to the porch and grinned at both of the males.

"I'm going to make a wonderful waitress."

Silva
"I offered her my 'manly assistance' once and she very politely told me where to shove it." Silva replied, taking the drink from Ruya and waiting for her to sit down next to him. He blinked at the waitress comment.

"Waitress, darlin? I don't remember anything about that..." HAD she told him? He shrugged, thinking if she had he would have remembered...

Neruo
Neruo stretched again, his wings beating a few times to release loose feathers. He walked up to Ruya and took his water, sipping it down. He then placed the glass on the porch, taking up his coin purse. He smiled to her.

"Thank you very much for the water, and I apologize for my intrusion." He chuckled, remembering her reaction. He shrugged it off mentally, and leaned in close to her. He whispered softly into her ear.

"Don't worry about me, alright?" He lightly brushed a kiss on her cheek before taking to the air and floating off.

Ruya
Oh dear. Whispering in her ear, kissing her cheek? Neruo was encroaching on Silva territory.

Ruya sighed and looked at Silva with a smile.

"I'm going to waitress at the tavern. Neruo is a bartender there. And I think I'd better head inside when you're done with that water. This has been a busy day."

Silva
He nodded stiffly, gulping down the water before standing and handing her the cup. He nudged her chin with his forefinger, looking into her eyes. "Wash that cheek, darlin." He stated, taking his hand away and turning and leaving.

"I'll see you later."

Ruya
"Bye."

Ruya sighed and watched Silva go before heading back into the house with an odd look on her face.

Housemates
Ruya
Curiosity about Sunil had been killing Ruya for days and after the preceding days events with Neruo and Silva, she needed something else to wrap her mind around. Otherwise she kept thinking about Neruo's scars and the feel of his skin under her fingers.

It was not a comfortable thought and she paused in the hall to shake it out of her head. She noted that the light was on in Sunil's closet and it sounded like someone was talking. Ruya tiptoed closer and pressed her ear against the door.

Sunil

She scowled over at Susu who was lying on the bed and hurled a crumpled up piece of paper at him.

"Get out you stupid cat! I don't need you staring at me all day."

Susu yowled, dodging the paper and squeezed out under the door. He glared at Ruya as he passed her but said nothing.

Ruya
Huh. Sunil was apparently in a bad mood. Normally Ruya would have thought nothing of it and slipped back into her own room, but after a moment she heard an unfamiliar sound coming from Sunil's room. Sobbing. Loud, heart wrenching sobbing.

Against her better judgement, Ruya pushed open the door (Kam had done something with the knobs so a feien's strength was sufficient to open them.) and entered.

"Sunil? Are you ok?"

Sunil
From where she was sitting on the floor crying, Sunil looked up angrily.

"Get out."

The command really didn't have much force behind it, as she hiccuped halway through and the tears still clung to her face.

Ruya
Ruya ignored Sunil's words and approached her, shutting the door. She knelt by the older feien and reached out to put a hand on her shoulder.

"What happened?"

Ruya couldn't really say she was concerned, but she was curious. What on earth would make Sunil upset to the point where she showed it openly.

Sunil
Sunil swatted Ruya's hand away and roughly wiped the tears off her face. She swallowed, composing herself, and got ready to tell Ruya to go to hell.

But the words didn't come out.

"I went to see Corvus," she whispered hoarsely, "and I managed to blow my chances at ever merging with a gemstone. Or obtaining immortality," she added with a smothered sob.

She shook her head in disgust before laying her forehead in her palm.

"I'm an idiot and I really can't see the point of continuing to live," she sighed, "but I don't want to die."

Ruya
Immortality? Ruya was horrified at the idea of Sunil being able to live forever and she didn't bother to hide her reaction.

"I can't say I'm sorry really. I don't think you should be able to live forever. You're mean and I dislike you."

Ruya pursed her lips and settled into a sitting position with her hands arranged neatly in her lap.

"But is Corvus really so important you need to agonize over your existence?"

Sunil
Sunil looked up and blinked.

"Maybe not. Have you read the posters in the shop?"

Ruya
"Of course. I find it a good idea to keep updated on developments in the feien world," Ruya replied primly.

Sunil
She ground her teeth in annoyance and spoke curtly, doing her best to suppress her anger.

"I had not and I wasted Corvus's time." She didn't sound particularly sorry. "He alone is not critical, no. The posters seem to imply it is Julius who controls everything of importance."

Sunil sighed and put her head in her palm again.

"And I wasted his time too," she admitted shamefully. "If only Corvus wasn't such a p***k about everything. And I wasn't so quick to anger and lose my head."

The last part was muttered quietly. It was still hard to admit to herself how much had been her fault. It made her stomach hurt and she wanted to throw up.

Ruya
"So? Fix it."

Ruya was completely unsympathetic.

"Nothing is going to change while you sit here feeling sorry for yourself. If these goals are so important to you, you can't let Corvus and Julius get in the way."

Sunil
Sunil snorted into her hand.

"What am I supposed to do, just march back over there and hope they forgive me? That is so stupid I can't believe you even suggested it."

Ruya
Ruya couldn't help it, she reached out and smacked Sunil in the back of the head. It couldn't have hurt much, but Sunil's head snapped up.

"You're pathetic. Seeing you now, I can't believe I was ever afraid of you."

She reached out and grabbed Sunil's chin, forcing her to look at her.

"They don't have to forgive you. It is their job to help you, just as it was your job to go into this experience prepared. You're prepared now aren't you?"

Sunil
Sunil wrenched her chin out of Ruya's hand and contemplated beating the crap out of her. Ruya was right however, and in the interests of not being stupid any longer Sunil just scowled.

"I am, but why are you doing this? You're helping me. I'm not going to help you in return."

It was childish, but she said it anyway.

Ruya
Ruya stood and looked down at Sunil disdainfully.

"I don't need your help."

Ruya turned and walked back out of the closet, letting Susu slip in as she slipped out.

"Besides I pity you all alone, with nothing to look forward to in life except extending it. When you're finally immortal, what are you even going to do with your time?"

She didn't wait for an answer and took off down the hall and back to her own room.
