"I'm always serious," he said firmly.
"We can expand the box when they grow, when they can at least walk on their own," he mused. "A nice pasture with some trees to shade it."

Letho blinked, "So if I cry you'll eat me?" she asked, her voice sincere as it gets.

She had him there. He did say that.
He nodded.
"One lick at a time. I'm sure it'll take my whole life and then some."

Letho tried desperately to keep a straight face, but after just a few seconds she started giggling uncontrolably, the orbs bouncing around in the air behind her.

Nightshade's Fury had started to tug Letho and her baggage of pony orbs off into the pasture, heading towards a suitable place when he suddenly stopped. He turned around and stared for a moment, studying.
Oh. He seen something wiggling and making strange noises when he realized. "Letho dear, it seems... we have baby ponies now," he said, taking notice that some of them had little fox tails peeking out of the cloth and perking fox ears. He seemed to even be able to make out little wings on a few of them.
"Letho, you're going to suffocate them."

She followed along quietly, but... Letho blinked when he mentioned... Baby ponies? Already? But...
Suddenly frantic she released the ribbon; they weren't tired tightly but the baby ponies seemed to have some difficulty disentangling themselves and Nightshade's Fury comment about the babies suffocating had kicked her protectiveness into over-drive.
It took her a few moments, but Letho managed to pull each of the little ponies from the now very warm sash she had tied so tenderly around them.
"Babies..." she cooed, leaning her head down to rub her muzzle against each one in turn.
"They need names!" she exclaimed while turning quite suddenly to face her Shadow.

He found himself holding back a laugh when she seemed so desperate to free them from the sash. It was cute, she was a terrible overprotective mother.
"How about we name them after we get out of the middle of this pasture? While we think we can see if these guys can even walk faster than you," he teased, nuzzling her lightly before calling the babies to walk behind him and in front of Letho as he lead the way.

She frowned the slightest bit, but wasn't the least bit angry so ended up being unable to hold it.
Letho looked at her sash and picked it up with her muzzle when they began walking away, she tossed her head to the side and back to throw the sash over her back and trotted along behind the little ones, peering around the pasture.
It seemed to go on forever, in her mind. Even the tree-line seemed to move further away the closer they got. "Ehm..." Letho started, trotting in line just behind the babies that seemed to be having a difficult time attempting to keep up with their father with their short legs, "How far is it? They do not look to be very adept at walking..." she mused. The latter mostly to herself.

Nightshade's Fury stopped, and then waited a bit. The little ponies trying to hurry their way to catch up to their papa. "We're here," he said, directing her to the evergreen and golden pasture, with a box in the corner under an apple tree.

Letho peered around at the pasture; it was rather appealing. She suddenly wondered what the other ponies in her pasture thought about her absense, tonight. It was not as if she was required to go home each day, but this would be the first day that she had NOT been home at night.
She shook her head clear of the thoughts and pushed the babies along softly, her nose bumping against their rears when they would slow or stop.
"I wonder what my kin thinks." she mused aloud towards Nightshade's Fury. "And what will yours think?"

Nightshade's Fury looked at Letho for a moment, his face very serious and very grim. Hopefully they would be out hunting tonight and not here to for him to find out just what they thought.
"Oh, probably something like 'Dinner?'" He joked.

She cringed the slightest bit, her body instictively inching closer to her tired children's.
"Are they... Like you, then? Different?"

Oh, they're different all right. He thought.
"It is difficult, but in a way, yes."
As if on key, two ponies came running into the pasture.

"Brother you're ba--" They stopped mistrack, first spotting the female pony with him and them the six smaller ones beside him. "You... brought us dinner?"
"No brother," Windcast Flurries interrupted. "Mid-Autumn Spirals is never right, this can't possibly be dinner for us."
"Nighty never shares!" Mid-Autumn Spirals bursted out into whining.
Windcast Flurries moved past his orange brother and over to the female, carefully avoiding the smaller. "A pleasure," he said as he walked by, giving his brother a grin. "You sly fox."

Nightshade's Fury grunted and sighed. Why?

Letho blinked frantically. They were different. Physically. She suspected there was much more to them, from what Nightshade's Fury said, but...
She couldn't help staring rather enviously at the tails each of the three had.... But she snapped out of her envy-induced daze when the blue-white one began approaching her and she moved so that her babies were lolling about being her instead of between her and the others.
A startled squeak escaped her when he walked by and she suddenly felt rather silly for being so worried. Still... She didn't know them, and one DID call her dinner.

He was sure she was gonna run away after meeting them. Well, Windcast Flurries was as gentlemanly as ever, and Mid-Autumn Spirals had the mind of a child for sure and possibly wanted to eat Letho, although neither of them would EVER touch anything of his, they preferred their tails attached.

Windcast Flurries didn't turn around, but he addressed Letho. "Do not fret, he may be a fool but he's not stupid enough to touch Nightshade's Fury's diner."
