Aran carefully went down the stairs, carrying the needed items. He saw the door close after Amelia went in, and he suspected it wasn't closed shut. He opened the door a bit, and stood close to the door while looking at all the dark Tendrils in the room.

"This damn Door. It's gotta be this Door again." Rei took another breath, making the tendrils turn rigid like spears. "Madriana came from it. Leander probably came from it. It'd be surprising if that reptilian b***h didn't." Rei took another breath, closing his eyes as the air filled his lungs.

"This Door is the cause of all of our problems!" Rei pointed his hand at the door as the tendrils moved in front of it. He clenched his hand into a fist. "Make it GO AWAY!" The tendrils erupted in a faint screech as they began slashing the door.

Amelia simply stared at Rei for a few minutes, watching as he spoke and the tendrils seized up, sharpening at the tops. She didn't move from where she stood, watching Rei nervously. She could hear the long breath he took in, and she unconsciously mimicked it, her hands tightening against her sides.

She had to force herself to swallow a shriek at he suddenly shouted, and then assaulted the door with his elder magic. "Rei, stop!" she yelled, running at him. She grabbed onto his shoulder, trying to jerk him back, as if that'd stop his magic. "That's not going to help anything! If she's already here, destroying the Door won't make her leave!" She yanked again. "Stop!"

Alihi felt almost rooted in her position as the others appeared to help the druid out. She didn't know what to do to help out anymore, for before she could react, someone else was already doing that job. She sighed lightly and rose to her feet again...

... And then, she heard Amelia's shouts. Curious and worried, she made her way down the stairs, running and nearly stumbling.

Rei remained focused on the Door, his assault not letting up. Only when Amelia's hand clutched his shoulder did he snap back to his surroundings.

"I told you to stay back, DIDN'T I?" He shouted, making a nearby tendil grab the girl and throw her against the wall. His breathing became more ragged, his legs began to shake as he realized what he had done.

"Wh- what's wrong with me...?" He quietly mumbled, shocked at what he had done to his friend. His legs shook as he sunk to his knees, dismissing the tendrils. The door remained perfect, shining in the dim light. "...I can't even hurt a damn door..."

Amelia's grip tightened on Rei's shoulder, her breath coming in a panicked gasp. Something in Rei seemed to have snapped, and her heart pounded at the sudden fear she felt. "You--" she started, barely whispering, but before she could get much out of her mouth, one of the gooey vines of dark magic wrapped around her chest. The sudden combination of the magic assaulting her body (and she had never been well-suited to resist magical threats) and sharp pressure against her ribcage made her lungs seize up. Then, almost as suddenly as it was there, the grip snapped loose, and Amelia vaguely felt herself hurtling through the air before there was a deep thud.

Amelia's entire body crashed into the stone wall, the brunt taken by the back of her head and her shoulders, before she fell onto the floor in a crumpled heap. She let out a pained breath. Her eyes blurred before she let them close against the sharp stabbing pain at the back of her skull and between her shoulders, radiating outwards in both areas to a steady, dull throb.

The tactician was, to say the least, stunned. She vaguely remembered crying out before rushing over towards Amelia.
"Amelia!" Alihi spoke softly, in hopes to not give her a headache with her shouts. She knelt by her, ready to help if needed.

She then turned to Rei, anger rising up inside her. Her voice raised to a shout. "Rei!! Are you satisfied yet?!" She closed her eyes for a moment, taking a deep breath. "... You seriously need to calm down and relax. Right now, all you're doing is being really hard to deal with."

... What the hell happened to Rei? Alihi thought, biting her lip slightly. Whatever it was... it's obviously not good.

". . . Oh, Goddess," Renault murmured, hurrying in through the doorway. A person couldn't exactly expect to make a huge amount of magical energy anywhere near him and not have him come running. And. . . Amelia! The bishop's attention was immediately diverted from the now-calmed shaman to his adopted daughter, and his face took on an immensely worried look. "Oh, Amelia. . ." He rushed over to her, staff coming off his back and the other hand coming down to touch the side of her throat gently. "Good, still breathing. Then. . ." The staff came down, and a gentle light cascaded across the girl's body, healing and fixing damages.

The bishop looked across at Alihi and smiled, then nodded. "It's all right. . . I'll take care of her." He glanced over at Rei and his face grew cold. "Idiot. Don't bother coming back upstairs until you've recovered your senses. If you do, I'll knock you out myself." He picked up Amelia gently, not seeming to be all that affected by her armor. "Don't worry, little one. I'll take care of you." Turning, he started towards the stairs, holding his burden.

Following the good Father, Ashnard hurried down the stairs. Upon hearing Renault's threat, the Mad King decided it would be a wonderful idea to stand guard. If the druid seemed still to be crazed before leaving the basement, he would take him out.

Rei stayed on his hands and knees, losing the will to respond to Alihi's remarks. ...I didn't mean to do that... His arms and legs shook more, and his pupils dilated again as he coughed up more black blood. Then, his eyes turned a pale blue.

~Internal Stuff~

Rei found himself standing in the dome where he fought Asami, face to face with her. It took everything he could to just stay standing, let alone move or breathe.

Your mind is like a puzzle. Our fight took it apart, and now it's being put back together. Just accept it, boy, it's over. I just need to put this last piece in place...

~End Internal Stuff~

The druid stood up, completely rejuvenated. A stretch of his arms led to the cracking of his elbows, and movement of his legs cracked his knees and ankles. A gesture of his hands caused a tendril to shoot out in front of the door, coated in spines. A wave of the hand dismissed it, and he turned around, facing Alihi.

"Well, well, well, look what we have here. Did a sheep get separated from the herd?" He sadistically chuckled, letting bolts of dark purple energy bound between his fingertips. "That just won't do, now will it, strategist? I'm sure you know what happens to stock that strays from the group..." A twisted grin swept his face, and he did nothing but glare at Alihi, waiting for a response. All the while, he cautiously listened for Ashnard. A hulking warrior like that was less than subtle, and could be dangerous.

Alihi's eyes widened with terror, assuming the meaning of what Rei said. "Y-you don't want to do this..." She backed away slowly, but she soon found her back against the wall. She smiled nervously. "C-come on... Can't you just, uhm, let me go? Forget that I'm here?" The tactician gulped. She couldn't fight him. She was weaponless plus slightly injured. The druid would fire his magic and the fight would be over before she could finish saying her own daughter's name (which isn't that long).
To sum it up, she was in a pretty bad situation.

Oh. s**t. Suddenly, she really regretted her desire for excitement.

[[Amelia's not actually wearing armor right now. But it's a minor detail, so oh well. xD]]

Amelia lay with her eyes closed, listening half-heartedly to the sound of her blood pulsing in her ears. So odd, being able to hear your life rushing back and forth... eerie. Her heartbeat seemed slow and heavy, but she vaguely decided that was because her head hurt too much. The thick, pulsing ache continued outwards. There was swishing cloth and tapping feet, rapidly drawing closer before falling silent with the introduction of a familiar voice.

"Amelia!" she heard someone say next to her as if from far away. Who was that...? It was so familiar... She could hear the same person speak again. "Rei!! Are you satisfied yet?!"

I got it... it's Alihi, she thought. Before she could try to react, eyes fluttering open before shutting again, there was more footsteps. This time, she recognized the voice almost instantly, though she took in a strained breath at the touch to her throat. Amelia relaxed just moments later, letting the light fall over her, and the ache in her back and head dwindled to a dull pain. "Don't worry, little one. I'll take care of you."

Amelia's eyelids flickered a little. Her head felt a lot better now. It was as she was being carried up the steps that she heard a strange noise, and then Alihi saying something... she sounded scared... "S-Something's going on down there," she said, squirming a little. She still felt disoriented. But she could almost feel it, hear that cracking noise. "Something's happening..."

The Scripts of Strategy

They returned!

Those filthy, blackhearted demons; they were back! They came back, just for him!

The attic floor boomed with thuds and screeched with nails against dusty wood. A black figure writhed and contorted, a scream choked by blind fear and panic. He madly swung his hands left and right, attacking shadows, carving scratches through possessions and artifacts that were very gradually withering away with him.

He was confused, his mind searching, his very fabric of existence twisting and flailing and raging, attacking itself as if gouging at a parasite deep, deep down. Inutterable anger permeated his being. His senses were haywire; he smelled everything, then nothing, then the impossible, and he heard everything, then nothing, then the impossible. Spittle flew as he snapped, undeniably blind in his half-asleep state.

The Door! The Door! He flung himself at the wall, knocking a mirror over. He was on the verge of screaming but there were only strained snarls and scratching and pounding.

His mind was everywhere and nowhere. In darkness, in light. In two dimensions, in three! The mirror shattered upon the ground and he opened his eyes, but he saw chaos. He whimpered frantically, unable to recognize the attic. A figure formed. Tendrils of shadow from the corners of his eyes. Dark magic! Where was it coming from!? He slashed at magic that wasn't there until the shadow in front of his eyes became something else.

The mansion's main room. A green-haired shaman howling and beating at the Door with unspeakable fury. Rei. And then Rei was glowing purple and was looking at everyone else and then was looking at him --

GO AWAY!!

He slashed at the image and the vision broke. The room was gone, Rei was gone, the magic was gone, and suddenly his senses snapped back. He smelled the dust and felt the grime and saw the black, black attic all around. His heart beat wildly as he retreated against the wall and he stepped on the broken mirror. Surprised not to have cut himself, he stared down, then retreated more and more into the shadows of the attic.

Go away. Go away...

He gazed fearfully at the beams of sunlight slanting in and vanished into the cold silence.

The Door... The Door...

Shadows...chaos...

Sleep.

Renault quickly deposited Amelia upstairs, smoothing the girl's hair back from her forehead. "I'm sorry, Amelia. . . I should have gotten there sooner. Maybe I would have-" A moment later, his head snapped up with a growl. What the hell was that kid doing?! There was no possible reason for him to be doing something like that. . . and Amelia's soft voice said the same thing. "I'll be right back," he told the girl. "I have to go help them." He rushed back down the stairs, switching staffs quickly. He didn't have much time.

Pushing past Ashnard, the bishop swung the staff forward, towards the little tactician. "REI, DAMNIT!" he roared, as a blue glow came from the staff and formed a Barrier around Alihi. "What the hell are you doing? We're your friends!"

Amelia sat up slowly, hand moving to the back of her head. "Don't apolo... gize..." she started. Her vision slowly focused as Renault ran right from the room, robes flapping behind him before disappearing around the corner.

Her limbs were shaky as she got to her feet. His staff had really done the trick to help her; her head barely hurt, and her shoulders almost felt good as new. Her stance was uneasy as she found her spear, still leaning against the wall near the front door. Something wasn't right. Amelia wasn't about to let him run down there on his own and into danger. She let some of her weight rest on her spear as she moved towards the steps. Her head throbbed as if to say "No, moron, lay down and rest," but she ignored it. Someone could lecture her later. Instincts said to help her father. She wasn't about to ignore them.

[[She's not even at the steps yet, but making her way there, in case it's not clear here. 8D"]]
