Cringing slightly as Penance was again put in restraints, Jacen turned his back to the scene when Emma decided to do a psychic scan. He honestly didn't like seeing this all unfold like this.
For a moment, he felt like leaving. He wanted to leave the room, at the very least. It was hard dealing with the guilt, and he was feeling a rather large dose of remorse for knocking Penance out. Though, he knew it was necessary, he didn't like it at all. Just as he was about to take a step out, he felt someone's hand on his shoulder. Regina, seemingly trying to offer a bit of comfort, but Jacen just shrugged it off. He had no need for comfort. Unfortunately for him, Emma wasn't about to let him leave the room.
"The both of you and Morgan and Jamie should do. Get the other two now. You all know her best so you will fare the best in her mind," Emma said as she stood straight up. "Excuse me, Jacen? Would you mind facing forward while I speak to you?" The glare that Ms. Frost recieved from her would-be protege prompted her only to sharply click her tongue. "And if you continue this, I will turn you into a vegetable and let you lay on that table next to your dear girlfriend."
"Regina.....could you do me a favor and round up the others, please?," Jacen asked as he looked at his friend. Without hesitance, she bolted through the shadows to look for Morgan and Jamie. When she was out of sight, Jacen refocused his attentions on Emma. "And you're threatening me, why?"
"Dear, you were the one giving me a harsh look."
"............" Jacen didn't reply. He knew he gave her a harsh look, but that was only because he didn't take kindly to her tone of voice. "Listen, about this."
"It's no matter really," Emma said as she looked at Penance and motioned for Jacen to come stand by her. "I will be there to guide you. Not to do the work, but at the very least aid if you need it." She sighed heavily. "But the thing that gets me is....that you decided to be with her and not to lead a team at MY...."
"It was an easy choice to make," he replied as he looked directly into her bright blue eyes. "She showed me that we all don't have to be automated killing machines....even though that's what I was trained for....." Jacen paused for a second. "She showed me that her friends, and herself, were true friends. Do you know how many times her and her friends stuck her neck out for me?"
"One that I can recall," Emma said dryly.
".......More than that." Jacen pulled up a castored chair next to the bed and sat down next to Penance's comatose body. "I owe this woman my life.....and more. I'd be remiss if I didn't stick with her....." He trailed off as he noticed himself gently running his fingers through her hair. As he was doing so, he felt a gentle squeeze on his shoulder.
"I'll be back in five, dear. That should give the others enough time to get here," Emma said, sweetly. And for the first time ever, Jacen did not doubt the sincerity in her voice. He didn't pay attention though to Emma leaving. He just found himself staring at Evie's expressionless face, seemingly lost in a dream of some sort. Carefully, he leaned down and kissed her forehead.
"We'll get you back kid," Jacen said to Evelyn quietly while still running his fingers through her hair. "We'll get you back..."

Further her steps would take her. The distance between herself and whatever she left behind at that hospital grew longer. A breeze passed by and she shivered, glancing up from her thoughts. Snow had been blown away from the school on what seemed to be a controlled breeze. She stopped and stared at the school for a long moment. What the hell -were- they doing in that place? She made a face then heard a commotion not very far from her.
Running, she went in search for the source of the noise, showing up in time to see the incident involving Rycil. All she could do was watch, as she watched this person's own body size decrease, and then his actions until he passed out with his arm in a car. That kid he seemed to be going after looked terrified out of his mind. One kid, in the middle of the street, looked hurt bad. She cringed before walking over to the car first, coruching near the kid, seeing the hold that went though the car. "Hey, you."
The boy jumped and screamed, falling over and looking at her. She tensed from the start he gave her with his reaction. "I think you aught to be getting home. Am I right?" Shaking, the boy gave a slow then quick nod to her and tried to stand up. She looked over at the boy who had caused the damage. "What happened here?"
Jumping to his feet, he started shaking his head fiercely, "I-I-I didn't see anything--I swear! Please don't hurt me!" His voice was like that of a scared child, he tried to take a step back and fell down.
Pathetic, she thought. Just another punk kid. She crossed her arms. "Get home, or get something to eat and calm your happy self down. You'll get unwanted attention." The boy gave a couple nods and ran off finally.
Coming around to the other side of the car, she bent down and tugged at the boy who caused all the damage. After a good ten minutes of tugging and pulling Rucil away from the car, she checked on the boy in the street. He was hurt pretty bad, from the looks of things. Looking around, she tried to think of something. She was in the wrong place once more, and she had been in trouble once.
Jogging over to the car, she pulled off her right glove and touched the hood of the car. With a grunt, she watched the most of the vehicle turn an almost glowing, light purple. Stepping back a couple feet, she put the glove on and picked up a small rock. "Here goes nothing..." Rearing her arm back, she tossed the rock at the car. The moment the rock his the steel and fiberglass, the whole car blew up. The force of the blast sent her flying back, as she thought it would. It scooted the injuried boy about a foot, rolling him. Rycil rolled as well, stopping next to her.
A perfect set up.
Bruised, now, and covered in a few scratches, she crawled over and propped Rycil up in her lap. Looking around, she could hear the sounds of people coming. Taking a few quick breaths, she screamed and started bawling her eyes out. "OH MY GOD! Somebody call an ambulance!" She could really make those tears flow when she wanted to.
Rycil stirred and groaned. She placed her finger to his lips, "Shh...Don't say a word. Okay?"
What happened? She wasn't sure, but she had seen the boy in the street messing with the car. She wasn't paying that much attention, but it just exploded out of nowhere. She really looked a victim. Who was the boy in her lap? She wasn't entirely sure, either, but she saw him fly at her from the force. The back of her head was scratched by the impact with the wall behind her. Everything seemed fine a few seconds ago, and she looked hysterical.

OOC: I'm bored, Id be nice and wait for the other three to actually write their summons and arrival... but I always have the itching to write.
IC:
Emma didn't have to wait too long for the cavalry to arrive. The X-Men were good about that. They came when beconed. At the same time, she had to respect it as well.
One of the students, Jamie maybe, asked her, "What will it be like in there?"
It was a valid question. None of them really dabbled in these things, "Everybody is different. The mind usually takes the form of where somebody is most comfortable or it's' based off of their moods and mindstate. If I were to guess, you will find yourself in some strange version of the Institute. One thing to remember in the mind... it isn't real. If you imagine it, it will be real... but the pain is not there, it is in your head. Jade is strong, but I have a feeling Penance will take care of this problem once she's freed."
She pushed some chairs towards Penance's bad, "You should probably have a seat."
"How do we make sure Jade doesn't jump into our heads?" Regina asked.
"I'll handle that," Emma answered, put a hand on Penance's head, and held her hand that was free out to Jacen, "Grab on."
-----------------
There was a very loud 'thud' somewhere in the halls of her head. Penance smirked, "They're here, my dear. Count down to the end."
Jade disappeared from Penance's cell presumably to go run interfearance on the team. Penance sat back and tested her arm. It was healed up enough that she was ready for Jade. Sitting cross legged on the floor, she waited.

"Sweatheart, trust me..." Cathy said leaning back in her chair. "If he's started this poorly he's only going to get worse...." She took a bite of her icecream. "I've seen it a dozen times before, I hate to tell you this hun, but your boy friend is a spoiled selfish slime...you're much better off ditching him for someone with better manners..." Cathy had absolutly no trouble telling it how se saw it. She went along with them and followed Sonya as she walked around. "So, you going to go out with Marky boy?" She asked curiously hearing his offer as they had their icecream.

"This is... disconcerting, to say the least," Morgan said, as he, as well as the others with him, were telepathically dropped into Penance's head. It was as Ms Frost had said- the place looked like the institute, but it was much darker. And devoid of anyone but the new arrivals. And of course, Penance and Jade, but they were yet to be located.
"I am not a psychic, and even I feel the foul influence here," he muttered, casting glances around the hallway that they had been dropped in.

"Agreed," Jacen said calmly to Morgan, noting the influx of horrible, intense feelings flowing into him, feeding his energies. Nothing but hate and anger were awash inside of Evelyn's mind. "If I could...I'd thank someone for allowing me to NOT overload on the intake...this would certainly be overwhelming."
He wasn't as disoriented as he was a moment ago. Becoming an astrally projected being must have had that effect on a non-psychic, he assumed. He thought about a plan of attack for the moment. The others took in the surroundings of the deformed, run-down institute. It was a bit disheartening to see it like this, even though this was nothing more than someone's warped mindscape.
"I'd think we should stick together," Jacen said, "But..."
"But what?," he heard someone ask.
"But I'm a target in all this. I was sposed to be one of the ones with a price on my head." Jacen surmised that his idea was probably a good one, though Regina was a bit vocal about her displeasure.
"Yea....I am too. Don't forget."
"Sorry, Reg.....," Jacen said, trailing off. "...I just thought that maybe someone should run a distraction while the others go look for Penance...."
Not wise. If you were to get killed in there, you'd die physically, Emma said.
"It's worth it...," he said quietly before speaking up to the group. "I think we should keep that option as plan B. But for the meantime, we should stick together. Move as a group. No one gets left behind....but, if we get overwhelmed, I want you three to soldier on and look for Penance while I keep her occupied. Agreed?"

Rachael stepped into the infirmery to see if they needed any help. However when she got there she saw them laying on the various beds and Miss Frost concentrating. Sitting quietly at a desk so she would not disturb her she watched.

Rycil felt weak. There was nothing he could do, not in his state. He tried to pull himself together, but he couldn't even move. He saw the crowd and he panicked, his eyes darting around every which way.. The finger on his lips, it was like his sister. She did that to keep him quiet. He calmed down and looked at the girl holding him. He could only strain a single word. "Who?" The ploice came and they questioned a bystander. "Miss, what happened here." The woman sounded shrill and scared. "I think some mutie came and beat up these kids, they look hurt pretty bad." The cop nodded and looked at the two kids. Rycil tried to move, but to no avail, he always did this. He couldn't use so much power, he didn't need to. But he did, and this was the price he paid. "Are you kids family?"

"Very well. Shall I take point, and scout ahead? I am at home in the darkness," Morgan replied, staring down the blackness that filled the hallways. It was so thick that it was almost like a solid wall, standing between them and their objective. And it felt... wrong, somehow. Probably more of Jade's influence.

Crouching atop the thick wall that surrounded the institute was a figure cloaked in black. His eyes seemed to glow, yellow in color with a cat-like gaze. With a silent motion, he dropped from the wall, moving about the grounds like nothing more than a shadow.
He took long strides on Digitigrade legs (standing up on one's toes), three toes ended his feet. two ended in short, thick claws, while the third, inner toe curved upwards, away from the ground and ended in a large curved claw, like a velociraptor. Trailing his form was a thick, muscular tail, held out for added balance.
There had been rumores of a "lizard-man" about town for atleast a week now. Bodys found, gutted. All of them were known Anti-mutant extreemists. Someone, or something, had simply ripped them apart. Pictures had poped up in the tabloids, a creature running along the rooftops, tail held out behind it, claws clearly visible.
The "Raptor-man" had found his way to the institute, but it was hard to say what for. He seemed to be pro-mutant, but at the same time, he wasnt against killing. it could go either way. But right now, he sat silently outside the institute, listening in to the sounds coming from within...wating for his chance.

"Come on guys... I'm in the basement...." Penance whispered and hung her arms out of the bars for a bit. She jammed her shoulder into the bars which was futile since she already knew that she couldnt' get out for the inside... something about it was designed against her.
She started humming a tune, "Nobody knows the trouble I've seen.... "
Penance listened as hard as she could to hear anything. Silence, that dead eerie silence. There at least used to be laughter before... like children. Fun. Light. Jade ripped it all up. Penance's own mind felt foreign to her... Jade was this sponge that kept sucking all of the good things out of her.
She kept seeing flashes of Fear again. He'd haunt her when she allowed herself to rest. Did she ever tell Jacen that? No, she didn't think she did. That was something she hid so he wouldn't feel guilty. Would Jade haunt them when she's gone?

OOC: I don't believe it. She's a baritone! *A cookie to those who guesses the movie*
IC: "Be my guest...I'll fall behind and trail the group. Don't worry about losing me," Jacen said as he allowed the others to pass him by. When he hit the back of the group, he flashed an orb of energy in his hand for a localized light source. Jamie did the rest, amplifying it only slightly.
".....It's quiet here.....," Jacen remarked. Silence was almost always something that was a small sign of trouble. "Anything yet?"
"No...and keep it down a bit."
Jacen was actually kind of pleased that someone other than himself was wishing to take charge and lead the squad. It felt almost like a day off. That was until something reflected somewhere. "What?," he silently said to himself as he walked nearer the wall to see a small closet door. It was odd seeing a door like this in the middle of such a dark hallway. He had a feeling that Penance was not in there, but his curiosity managed to get the better of him at this point. With a slow turn of the wrist, Jacen opened the door cautiously, before being seemingly pulled inside.
When the door shut behind him, Jacen noticed it was pitch black inside, and simutaneously fired up a light source and grabbed the doorknob. As soon as he was almost out, the darkness disappeared and he found himself standing inside the Institute, although it was different. It looked pristine. Untarnished. Xavier was actually there, along with some people that Jacen most definitely recognized. Rogue and Gambit. He cringed at the sight of the two. The Russian, Piotr was there too, although he looked distraught. The more Jacen looked, the more he thought the big man was holding something. Out of nowhere, there was a little girl standing next to Xavier, asking him something.
"Where's Illy?," she asked sweetly.
Colossus, turned around when asked, and said solemnly, "She was....lost.....on the way home." The big man was taking it hard. He was extremely close with his sister. "When I went through her things, I found this somewhere...I think she wanted you to have this for your birthday..." His voice had softened as he kneeled and gave the young girl a stuffed bear. Evelyn asked again if she could see 'Illy' as she called her friend. After a small explanation, the room grew silent, Jacen saw what he thought to be young Evelyn choking back tears....
The scenery flashed, and Jacen found himself standing on a wooded lot on the far end of the Institute's grounds. There, he saw a rather large service with it appeared to be two closed caskets.
"We're here to honor the memories of our dear friends......" The minister trailed off unintelligibly as Jacen again noticed a young Evelyn sitting with her mother near Xavier. Xavier was taking the double tragedy roughly, as well as Evelyn. It seemed whoever was being honored was close to her at the time. And instantly, Jacen could just feel that the young mutants, Warlock and Cipher, were. Both of the were young, Warlock alot more naive about things, and were relatively in Evelyn's age group. All three were known to get into tiny bits of trouble when they were all allowed to mess around unattended in the Institute. And now, they were both gone. Jacen could feel the sorrow...the anguish from the crowd, but it was mainly focused from Evelyn. He could only assume that she felt like she could have done something to help....he knew the feeling. He looked up slightly for a second and took a small look at Evelyn's mother. He had never seen her before, and this memory...... he made a small note to remind Evie that she looked strikingly similar to her....
The darkness blinked again, and Jacen found himself standing on the side of a road somewhere. It was raining hard, and Jacen could smell gas in the air. There was a wreck somewhere, and before he knew it, behind him, he heard someone's moans of agony. When he turned around, he saw an older Evelyn, no more than 13. She had been aging progessively through these sights he saw, and this was no different. The woman who was being held by her, he knew was her mother. There was no denying it. He couldn't hear what was being said, but he knew what had happened. Evelyn's mother had just died. While she sat there numb, the rain washing over her, Jacen wanted to reach out...to rest a comforting hand on her shoulder, but suddenly, there was a force that pushed him out of the small room, and back into 'reality'.
"My...God....," Jacen said, as he noticed everyone still practically where they were when he disappeared. It seemed time had stood still. ".....Random doors are a no-no..." he again said to himself as he moved along with the group.

She listened to the bystander rant on, and she could have hurt them for messing with her distraction. She wanted the attention -off- mutants, at least long enough to get herself and the other boy out of the scene. She lowered her head to Rycil, mouthing out the words Trust me, the up-close view of her face made the edges of her neon eyes visible to him, before she looked up at the cop and the other person.
"What do a bunch of freaks of nature have to do with a car bomb? We're all hurt, and you want to keep the cops from investigating the right crime. Someone either had a hit out on someone, and we got it by mistake, or this is someone's idea of a sick joke."
She slowly went into another crying fit, , hugging onto Rycil, as if she was truly offended by what the person had said. And she knew the boy who lay a few feet from them would blame this all on the one she was holding. One of the extremely few times she'd want a telepath nearby to wipe his memory clean. Maybe they'd be lucky, and he'd wake up with amnesia.
She was going to do what she could to keep the mutant from getting in trouble, for she had a fear of what would happen to him once he was out of sight. She only hoped that she and Rycil only needed to be treated at the scene, so she could get away from the punk who must have started it, who was now their only problem at the moment.

ReaverOfSouls OOC: I don't believe it. She's a baritone! *A cookie to those who guesses the movie* ((It's spaceballs. and the line goes. *She's a bass.*)) Markus wandered into his room. It was time to head to bed and he was tired. The aftereffects of his injection left him groggy and tired which is the reason he hated to take it. But it was helping him regain some semblance of physical substance. He could sleep in a bed now and not in a fish tank...because his body reverted to his natural shape wich was a blob of brown muck.
