CAPTURE AUDUN TEAM
At Alberto's voice, Lai turned to face the man, looking beyond to where his thumb marked. The crate was open and full to bursting with items. Good, very good. The Russian moved to the box and pulled out a flashlight, flicking the switch up with his thumb. The light poured out in a decent sized beam and was very bright. The batteries must be fresh, though Lai did not know that was what the light ran on.
"Thank you for packing the flashlights comrade." He flicked the light off and placed it in his left hand, his right to be used for the knives. "Everyone should have one of these in the groups, there looks like there is enough." He picked up one of the binoculars. "Maybe one of these in a group too, though they may not work too well in the dark." He stuffed one into the opening of his bag, the dark colored object barely fitting in between the knives and the water bottle he packed. As he did this Mokoyis came up and grabbed a radio, directing that he would be grouping with her. He didn't mind in the least, but he had a feeling it was because she wanted to keep an eye on him and felt like he could put the majority in jeopardy if he went with the larger group.
"That is fine Miss Mokoyis." He stood by her, his words an answer to her statement about where he goes. When Alberto spoke again, this time about Einar and time, he nodded. Every minute in here was a minute wasted and a minute more Audun had to make his escape. Lai made his way to the door that led out, opening it with no trouble and getting his first real look at the world with his own eyes.
The land was barren and torn asunder, what should have been a beautiful little town with trees and gardens was now broken down walls, a few trees (skeletons of its past), and a sea of thick mud and holes. From the light pouring out of the plane he could see many rocks. Those could be thrown to trigger traps and be used as projectile weapons. Without waiting for Mokoyis or the others he stepped down gingerly. His leather boots made a faint squelching sound once he touched the ground and automatically his eyes began to scan. From this side of the plane he couldn't see Audun's message but he also couldn't see anyone around. Once he felt a safe he knelt down and started picking up rocks until he had a good handful. Once done, he stood back up and, after fitting the flashlight into the bag and putting the rocks in his left hand, he proceeded to throw them out away from the plane in an arc with the slender fingers of his right.
What is out there waiting for us?

TEAM AUDUN
Now that they mentioned it, the WELCOME message was a bit creepy...
Eponine felt a leap of gladness when Alberto showed the crate. Wow! Someone really was prepared... The robot girl was impressed. This man knew so much, to bring all these... She felt a flush of guilt as she realized that she had bought nothing.
Well, Mokoyis was right. Nothing done by talking. Audun wasn't from her time, right? So surely he couldn't have a device that tracked radio waves and showed them on a screen and would give their position dead away and they would be bombed and grenaded to mush? Or could he?
Eponine spotted a log rotten from the rain and examined the cut edges- it seemed natural, like a rot had caused the tree to keel over. An idea sparked in her mind. As she saw Lai through the rocks, slowly, her skinny little arms reached out and plucked the log up. Carefully, she heaved and rolled the log across the open space in front of them, hoping that if there were any ground traps, something would happen.

AT LOTUS
"W....w...what do you mean Lai's in Poland...? Wh...wh..."
Einar's eye went wide at the answer he received from the three people, his face growing more pale (if that were even possible), and with a heavy groan he tried to move himself upwards into more of a sitting postion. The actions took a heavy toll on hi, the pain strong enough to cause tears to run down his cheeks, and as Einar continued to struggle to sit up blood began to run from his mouth and nose like small rivers.
"Why the hell didn't any of you stop him?! You've...you've all...."
It was hard for him to talk like this, the blood causing him to cough and spit and choke with each word he tried to say, but it was like he had to let them all know. Einar could ignore the tubes and whatever else Shee and the Norwegian woman he knew from before had hooked up to him as he moved, his arms finding an awkward way to prop his weary body up.
"You've all given Audun what he wants. He's..."
There was more coughing, followed finally by the sound of retching as it seemed that Einar couldn't hold himself back anymore. He dropped back from how he'd managed to prop himself up on his elbows and onto the ground, his head turning to the side as he fell. The impact made a dull thud and he winced, though it didn't knock him out.
"He's going to kill every person there, but he'll torture Lai before he does it."

IN POLAND
Audun watched as the figures stepped off the plane, his fingers moving behind his back as he counted their numbers.
Man, man, woman, woman, man.
Was this really the best LOTUS had to offer? Their amount was less than what he had figured, not a problem at all really, it was more of a help than a hindrance. In Audun's case less was often more, since he could have more fun playing around when he knew the odds were not stacked at all, and this was turning out to be...pretty awesome.
Only he was a bit disappointed to find that they were all on their guard and even one of them seemed to have the general brains to look for a trap. It was a girl wearing a hat who did this, one who seemed to show some unusual strength, and he frowned as he watched her actions. Naturally, no traps went off (he wasn't stupid enough to set them in the open), but he was eager to see them move around in search of him more.
"Oiyo~"
Almost like a taunt he called out to them from where he stood behind the tree, his voice echoing about the ruins like the calls of a ghost. Thanks to the walls and trees, even if they were broken and dead, he was going to be hard to pinpoint. They would have to search.
"Oiyo~ Which one of you belongs to Einar? ~"

TEAM EINAR Estrelas let out a yelp and leapt back as Einar sat up and started spouting blood like a watering pot again.
"You! You sit back down! Now!" she yelped angrily, puffing her cheeks and overall looking like a fluffed-up hen. She whirled her head around, seeing if Shee and Lokiari would do the same.
TEAM AUDUN Eponine ducked and rolled into a defensive position the moment she heard the madman's voice. Her mechanical pupils dilated, shifting the world into a cleaner, sharper focus. She wished that she had the mechanisms of robots made for this job- heat signature tracing, lasers, something! Well, she didn't, and she had lasted this long anyways.
No traps went off, but Eponine was still paranoid. She turned to the others and piped nervously, "Everyone heard that too, right?" She wondered what the madman meant by "belonging to Einar," but she didn't dare voice her question.
They had to move. If Audun had guns they had to move- unfortunately, the places they could hide in were most likely booby-trapped.
"Let's do something- we can't stay here!"

MEDICAL TEAM
It took Lokiari a few moments to realize as she'd been more focused on Einar and Shee and the medical things they were doing, but she slowly realized that not only had Estrelas attempted to give her soup with odd things in it, but that Estrelas undoubtedly knew nothing of what they were doing. Which, in the Norwegian woman's opinion could lead only to small problems. Mildly unsure of how to explain this to her, she gave a small sigh when the woman proclaimed no one was "lying" before Shee spoke to her again and the Einar started spouting things off.
With a sigh, she rolled her eyes at how ridiculous Einar was being, "Look, *gutt, quit being such a *hund and pay attention." It annoyed her he was being such a stupid little man and thinking he was being selfless when he was, in fact, being quite selfish indeed. "You say there is no cure, just an antidote. Lai went to discover what that is because you either won't, or can't, tell us anything. Another small pause and her look turned sour, "*Han elske du. If it is anyone's fault he has gone off in search of a madman...." This time, rather than continuing, she let her sentence trail off while glowering down at the dying man. That he would blame them when it was because of him that Lai would put himself into danger was, in her opinion, unbelievably stupid on Einar's part.
There was more that she wanted to say, like how she didn't think Lai would mind dying for Einar than Einar dying for selfishness, but she chose not to. Not yet. Maybe later, if he continued to be a foolish little boy she'd give him a few more choice words, but not yet. Turning her attention back to Shee, she frowned, "Well, its a start." Did anyone else here know their own blood type? Was there even a way to ask Hyo? She wasn't sure, but she gave a small sigh and asked the nearest person anyway, "Hyo, do you know your blood type?" She would have asked Estrelas, but giving the Portuguese woman's reaction earlier, Lokiari had a very strong feeling the woman hadn't the faintest idea and would likely have another conniption if she were to ask.
----- ((Gutt means "boy", Hund means "dog" and "Han elske du" means "He loves you"))

Having gotten Archer's name down, Johannes also picked up his walking speed a bit -- keeping up with Wraith was just as hard as keeping with women who went crazy shopping and carrying bags.
When he entered the library, he was feeling nervous. It was now time to figure what can save Einar, or at least subside the injury. He stood awkwardly in front of Wraith, who was seated and ready for action. Taking his hat off and putting it on the table, he then looked to Wraith, trying to not show his nervousness (Hands, stop shaking, scheiße!).
"Well, I'm afraid I don't know much as Archer here -- I arrived to the scene later -- but he did mention that he was hit by a bullet that kills anyone within 36 hours." "I..."
Johannes' voice trailed off. He really couldn't understand much about anything else in regards to the situation. He only knew the basics and that's that. His mind was also going crazily in all directions, so that might have something to do.

TAKE CARE OF EINAR TEAM "Brood taip?" Hyo blinked, trying not to move much. The bag he was holding needed to be high, didn't it? At least that's what he understood so far. "It's red, yes? Mean, not know much moar..." He shook his head, attempting to understand what was the question about. Probably not the color, and not the fact that it was wet, but he didn't really know what else was there to say about blood... After a short moment of thinking, his eyes opened wider as he recalled what Eenar said at the very beginning. That he needed lots of blood, and then he named the blood somehow... Eee? Yyy? Ooo? I think it was ooo...but there was something more with that name, but he really couldn't remember... and what Shii said about Aaa and Beee... "...you ask aaaooobee thing, yes? I not know, what name? How check?"

CAPTURE AUDUN TEAM
He had only caught sight of the log rolling out of the corner of his eye, and when he saw it Lai's head turned quickly, causing a kink to form there. He didn't pause to rub it, but the few remaining rocks fell from his hand as his eyebrows raised in surprise when he fully saw the log rolling. His blue-grays then flicked to Eponine, amazed that the frail looking girl had managed to send the large thing rolling. Then again, big things did come in small packages, and there was the chance the log was rotted away somewhat so it would be lighter than if it was just broken.
"Wait...What?" He nearly fell back as he realized Eponine had set the log rolling in an attempt to weed out any traps set by Audun. His back pressed against the cooling metal of the plane and he was ready to throw himself into the mud should anything be set off and be potentially explosive. He breathed a faint sigh of relief that nothing did, the log went a long way so right then the group knew there was no traps in that area.
"Oiyo~
Oiyo~ Which one of you belongs to Einar?~"
He had straightened himself out before the voice had echoed out, and once it did he was not prepared in the least. The Russian almost jumped out of his skin (had it not been attached) at the heavily accented voice and (like Eponine) had gotten into a defensive position, though his was a low crouch with his eyes scanning the area and his right hand gripping the handle of one of the blades within his bag. In that position he moved towards the front of the plane, peering out to survey what lay beyond the now still propeller. Vaguely he could feel the finer hairs on the back of his neck standing up, the rest of his hair that was still tied up felt like it was too, that's how shocked he was at the taunt.
He heard Eponine's frantic tone and he quickly swiveled his body to look at her. In his eyes, she looked similar to a field mouse, hiding from a cat and he knew what she meant, but she had to be calm. "Miss Eponine!" The young Russian tried to quell the obvious startled edge to his voice as he spoke. "Miss Eponine, please calm yourself! You must be calm as fear will only cloud your better judgment. I heard the voice as well, but I do not see anyone and cannot tell where it is coming from. Take a couple of breaths, your head must be clear. Remember the hunting metaphor, fear will cause rash decisions that could put you and the rest of us in danger."
His voice was rapid, breathy and it shook a bit as his nerves blazed from the sudden voice and mentally he cursed the maiden that caused the insane man's voice to resound around. If only there was no echo! But, from what he could tell, the voice was not coming from this side of the plane. The voice's echo weakened and died around here, so Lai figured that Audun was in the vicinity of that taunting welcome message. He withdrew his right hand from the bag and instead placed his left one in, feeling for the flashlight. Once he grabbed it, he flicked it on, stood up, and stepped out very slowly in front of the plane. The Russian cast the beam around the walls and few trees in front of him. The weather was cold, and plumes of vapor appeared from his mouth as he tried to quell his rapid breathing. His senses were on high alert and, if anything should happen, he was still close enough to the plane where he could run backwards and shield himself behind it. He turned to the right slightly (casting his light there now) and, talking to himself, spoke in Russian.
<<"Where are you?">>

CAPTURE AUDUN TEAM
"Oiyo~ Which one of you belongs to Einar~?"
Alberto's shoulders tensed up as he heard the voice from his vantage point inside the plane, arm deep in the supply crate to grab his own flashlight. So the game had begun for Audun.. the cheery lilt in his voice and the echo against the ruins of the town chilled his blood. His hands flew to the bag beneath his seat and immediately the rifle was out and loaded, one of the extra boxes tucked into his pockets while the bag was flung over his shoulder.
With so few bullets and the elements against them for the time being (the rain and the darkness certainly impeded Alberto's line of sight, and he wasn't going to be frivolous with his ammunition), he joined the others outside. He held the rifle solidly between his hands as he looked around. Lai and Eponine were on the defensive, their poses ready to spring into action at a moment's notice, and he figured he should be equally ready.
The voice echoed around the small area and this made it difficult to pinpoint the man's location. The crash he had heard earlier drew his attention to the log that lay sprawled before them - it must have been pushed to try and trigger any traps. But by the looks of things, nothing had gone off - the log just had the appearance of impact. No other damage to speak of.
'Looks like the traps will be harder to trigger than that.. this guy isn't new to this,' he thought. He was Einar's friend and both of them had been to war, so it wasn't surprising.
The younger girl seemed frantic at Audun's voice, and he knew she had good reason to be, but he agreed with Lai's words. "S'okay, calm down," he assured her as well. "Rilin' us up is exactly what he wants.. make us all disorganized." He looked ahead and kept the gun steady. "But.. you're right. We gotta do somethin'.."
As Lai guided his light over the area nearby, Alberto stuffed his own flashlight into his pocket and approached him cautiously. Time was dwindling.
"I think we should divide into teams," he said in a low voice to the Russian, hoping his suggestion didn't drift off to enemy ears. "Stayin' in this big group's too dangerous.. we should box him in. We've got the radios." He nodded. It was only a suggestion but they had to start somewhere, otherwise they'd be sitting ducks.

TEAM AUDUN No plumes of steam came from Eponine's mouth, even as she inhaled and exhaled- all her water had been drawn back into the storage tank to prevent freezing. The robot girl stifled a sigh as she felt the heaters around her water tank start, warming her metal insides up a little. She turned to Lai, grateful that at he was so level-headed. "Don't worry," she said, steadying out the trembles in her voice. It was good that she did not realize that it did look strange, just picking up a log like that. "Don't worry, I'm fine," she said, trying to sound chipper, but jumped when Alberto spoke. "Oh!" She ducked quickly. "Sorry. Just I expect bullets to come whizzing out of nowhere..."
Was Lai feeling all right? Einar was his friend after all. Or Mokoyis and Alberto and Rodney? Did they feel the press of death and danger in the air? Eponine looked hard to Alberto, trying to see if she could see if he was afraid. She wondered if she should ask, or would that seem strange? And when they asked her how she was, did they mean physically or mentally? Some things weren't included in her language banks.
She followed Lai into the eerie setting, hesitating to see if the others were doing the same thing. Eponine's sharp hearing picked up words in Russian, and she started before realizing that the words were coming from Lai, and that the madman Audun was Norwegian.
Eponine reach down and picked up a large tree branch. The rot from the rain stuck to her bare hands and squished a bit, but she held tight. Half-consciously, she swept the branch in front of her like a minesweeper.
"So, there aren't any traps in the open... Should we risk it, or head for cover?" she asked, automatically deferring to Lai, but looked assured at the suggestion of teams. The dark-skinned man, Alberto, made her feel.. Not safe. But ready. Prepared, perhaps. "Teams?" she piped up.

IN POLAND
As Epione moved forward with her branch, sweeping the land as she was doing to check for traps, a loud sound that resembled a firecracker came from behind a tree that was perhaps only a hundred or so paces away to their left, and should the others turn they would have a seen a thing trail of smoke lead up into the air.
Instead their attentions would be focused on Epione's body, the woman suddenly toppling over sideways as the impact of the bullet to the side of her head knocked her balance askew and sent her into the mud. Her hat stayed on her head, the bullet having pierced through it before driving into her skull, and before the others could even take a breath she was down on the ground.
"She's too smart for her own good, that one there. Was about to pre-trigger a trap before one of you guys got to know the fun it would bring."
The voice that had taunted them all before was a little more clear now as the figure stepped out from behind the tree, a gun raised in both of his hands as he moved forward.
He had dark brown hair that clung to his face and made him seem more childish than a man of twenty-two should look. He was tall and thin like Einar, perhaps even taller, but he had muscle thanks to his hours of marching and training in the camps. There were two dark eyes that peered out from a face that was pale and gaunt, marred with mud and dark circles from poor nutrition or lack of sleep, but the most standout feature of this figure was their smile.
Well, not really a smile. A large grin that spread from ear to ear and showed off a set of nice, white teeth. It would have been considered something friendly if everyone else was at the same mental level that this young man was, insane or a little bit better from it, but to the others it was a look that could chill blood.
Considering the actions he'd just taken against one of their own, it probably did.
Audun.
"I was certainly hoping the Russian would take the first shot, but I've got to admit I've always liked the way women go down. They seem to have a theatrical flair about it as they tumble, though the trouble with a head shot is they usually are dead before they hit the ground and can't even scream or cry."
Audun moved closer to the group with his guns still raised, his fingers skillfully cocking the weapons in case he needed to fire again. He was pretty certain that shooting Epione would give him the edge he wanted right now, at least in terms of getting out of this area and to somewhere else, but he didn't want to risk getting shot himself. One of the people had a gun of their own, he knew bullets smarted like a little...well, bullet.
One gun he pointed over at Lai, who had been the closet to the woman now in the mud, and he motioned for the Russian man to back away lest he receive the same fate as she, and the other he pointed at Alberto and the rifle he held. Audun wasn't stupid, he knew a shot from a rifle would put him to sleep for good, but he wasn't a coward either.
"All of you back away from the body, now. I want you to go stand over there near the welcome message I wrote, you can keep your weapons with you should you want to, but I swear if anyone moves in a manner other than walking I'll pop you a new blowhole. If you don't think I will, you could ask your lady friend here."
A little chuckle escaped Audun's lips.
"Oh wait, you can't. She's been shot in the head."

Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiip.
In a less romantci reality to "A Little Fall of Rain," Eponine half-turned her head as if to look at her comrades as the bullet ran headfirst into her head, a little bit above her ear.
Then she crumpled like a puppet with its strings cut, folding down on into herself so that only her head and one bony hand showed from under the voluminous folds of her coat. Her hat sat crooked on her masses of tangled black hair.
Right before she fell, this last thought went through her mind: I wonder if it looks like a movie.
Because, as Eponine had learned so long ago, most things didn't.
What if Estrelas saw how silly I'm being? The little loaf of bread Estrelas had baked came out of her pocket and rolled just so that it brushed her fingertips, all under the cover of her coat.
Without the insulation of natural flesh, Eponine's body cooled off almost immediately when the heaters cut off. Soon, if anyone touched her, they would feel skin cold as the trees.

CAPTURE AUDUN TEAM
Lai kept sweeping with his flashlight, but almost dropped the tool when Alberto approached behind him, his sudden words startling him. He nodded when the other man said about doing something and his head turned slightly as the low spoken words reached him. "Miss Mokoyis has already stated I am to be in a group with her. I think you, Miss Eponine and Rodney are to be in the other group comrade." His voice, too, was a hushed one but it still wavered up a few octaves as he continued his fight with his shocked nerves. As Eponine came over he could manage a small smile at her antics with the tree branch, but shook his head.
"We should wait just a moment for Miss Mokoyis and comrade Rodney first I think. They are of higher ranks than us. For the time until they come out, let us return to the side of the plane, we will have proper cover the--" His voice was lost as Eponine fell, the sound of the bullet hitting his ears a moment after he was watching the girl fall in slow motion. His small smile completely vanished from his features as his eyes grew wide, his jaw hung open, and a horrified scream of 'Miss Eponine!' came racing out. It didn't last long, ending when the girl made a heavy, wet-sounding thump on the ground. His right hand flew to his lips, snapping his jaw shut, but looking all the more terrified. Dear God on high no...
His knees began to tremble and he was going to fall to his knees, to Eponine's side, when that voice rang out. Lai's stomach clentched and his heart stopped beating for an icy moment as his eyes went from the fallen LOTUS member to the grinning madman approaching with weapons drawn. Lai's hand remained over his mouth in horror but inside anger was beginning to rise. This was the monster that had hurt him and now had just murdered Eponine in cold blood, grinning like the cat to Eponine's mouse. As Audun's words sank in, Lai couldn't help but think;
It should have been me...
They echoed in his head and his anger bubbled. The horror in his eyes was mixing with that anger, and they flashed at the orders. He saw the weapons, one aimed for him, the other for Alberto, and slowly he moved in front of the Nicaraguan man a bit more. He kept his eyes and flashlight on Audun, but hissed his words through his teeth as he slowly brought his hand down and took a couple of slow, shaky steps back.
"Comrade, do as he says. Go. You move first, I will cover you. If he decides to shoot us as we walk there..." He trailed off, not wanting to think of that. Instead his mind was flurried; hoping Mokoyis and Rodney were safe on the plane still, watching Audun and his weapons, Eponine...Oh Eponine, the other man near him, how this was not starting off how he had thought on the plane ride over here, how fast he could draw one of his knives, and of course, his love back home. As he blinked Einar showed up inside his eyelids, not in pain or dying on the Atrium floor, but smiling and healthy in the gardens the day the Russian had stumbled upon him singing. The same day when Einar had professed his love for Lai. As his eyes reopened from that, he was back to looking at Audun, the man who had taken that picture, the Russian's heart, and many lives, and had shattered them into pieces with that deranged grin on his face.
<<"You son of a b***h.">>
Lai did not want to leave the fallen LOTUS member, but from what he had heard from Einar it was better to follow that order. He waited for Alberto to move first then slowly followed after him. He turned at the last moment and kept his eyes now on the Nicaraguan's back. When they had reached the welcome message, Lai turned around at the side of Alberto, waiting. He had heard the call when they had first come out here, that "which one of you belongs to Einar?" and he was thinking about how to approach those words. He couldn't compromise, the man was clearly unable to, but as he stared at the fallen French girl, he knew he couldn't let any others get harmed. Mokoyis' warning remained in his head, and he heeded it, but in his heart he couldn't let any others fall to this madman.

Almost the Norwegian woman winced when Hyo asked how to tell what blood type he had. Since Estrelas didn't know and she personally was O+, that only left Shee and Einar for blood types. Einar was a definite O- as he had mentioned this and so even if Shee had A or B - they wouldn't really be able to test that way. With a small frown, Lokiari pondered over how to test people for blood, she didn't know much about it since, well, the men and women she'd served with all carried their blood type neatly labeled on them. The woman raised one hand to her chin and tapped it deep in thought, her eyes flitting from Shee to Einar and back again. What if...
"Shee, would we be able to take some of Einar's spilled blood and match that to everyone else's blood here that we don't already know the blood type of?" If they were just playing a matching game, wouldn't that work too? It was a long shot, but Shee did seem to know more than she did about this particular area of the medical field and so she left the decision up to her.
