I've successfully cooked two dinners for my family this week. Cooking has always been something I avoided and disliked, and Jason's mom fed us dinner for years. So when we moved, and now that we've got a fridge in this house, I've had to start cooking (and driving) out of necessity. (Driving is another thing I fear and only do when I absolutely have to.) Monday being a holiday, we weren't here. Tuesday night I fried some chicken in Italian bread crumbs, made butter potatoes, and honey biscuits. A big hit! Then last night I made spinach alfredo lasagna, which was also fabulous. We have enough lasagna leftover for today too. I feel more confident in my newfound abilities. These were things I knew I would have to conquer someday, and I'm glad I did them.

Thanks for listening. I just had to share.

Congrats fawNie! If you are ever in need of recipes, I know I can give you a hand, and I'm sure I'm not the only one.

those dishes sound great Fawn! especially the lasagne which i just love! you're not the only one with a fear of driving, i'm too scared to ever start learning sad which is why i'm on here so much. living in a rural area, with public transport that's non existent at the best of times i'm kind of forced to be a homebody

Oh man! I would die if I couldn't drive... I don't even like being a passenger. I drive every where. But cooking is a whole different story. I don't belong in a kitchen, period! I try and I almost always burn something... usually me! smile

*huggles fawNie*

I haven't driven since my car accident on Sept 4, 2003, with the tiny exception of when i drove from Louisiana back home to Michigan...i had to we had no other choice. kevin couldn't take any more timeoff work and we had to wait for our car to be fixed. It was a long 2 day drive lemme tell you in some of the worst weather.

Now cooking i love..altho i dont' get to do it much cuz Kevin is the chef in the household. I have to keep reminding him that I lived for 28 years without him...cooking for myself the last 3 of those, and i didn't manage to starve lol wink

lol, that's so typically male, even the men how wont cook normally never let a woman near the barbeque cos that's a MAN THING. but if they're a chef... no female's gonna get a look in

PostPosted: Fri Feb 25, 2005 9:14 am

woohoo, look at me with my lurvely daisy, they're my favourite flower you know heart i got it from the marketplace for 100GP cheaper than the hat shop price too. some people are selling items for a higher price than the shops. Are they daft? who's going to buy them??*shrugs* off to hunt for another pink link now xd

p.s i can't get used to being able to post as much as i like on here, keep expecting to get told off, though i may do yet for waffling on! you'll all get used to it! the more at home i feel the more the trap flaps, just tell me to shut up and i'll go and sulk in the corner for a bit...

I love being in the kitchen and trying out new and unusual recipes. As for driving, I love being able to, and having my own car. I never thought I'd get here; I was in a pretty bad accident when I was 17 (NOT driving luckily), didn't get my lisence until i was almost 18, and got into another accident when I was 21. I just got my first car last summer when I was 24. Although, for long trips, I'd rather not drive.

Angel, I'd LOVE if you could share some recipes!! And other people as well. In fact, I'll start a recipes thread for just that! And I'll share the few meals I made there as well.

I feel for you, I was also in a horrible accident at 17, a week before my HS graduation. For a year before it happened I was scared to drive and I was telling people I felt like I was going to die in a car accident, and then I nearly did. The effects of it are still with me, and I've been in 3 more accidents since, and I'm still trying to recover from an upper back injury from last October's accident. I was a passenger in all these accidents, and in a bus accident when I was in middle school. That's 5 for me. rolleyes
