Hmm. Maybe I should take off these headphones and plug in the boom box.

*turns on radio where the unmistakable blistering guitar riff of Mark Knopfler's heralds the opening of "Sultans of Swing"*

Now that the kitchen's clean, we should start cooking something for everyone.
Spaghetti! I think we're going to have spaghetti today.

*pulls out large pot, places it on the stove, places a pound of hamburger in it to brown, then proceeds to chop a small onion* crying

Man, these onions are strong!

*Stirs burger, then drains grease out of it when it's cooked. Throws onion into burger pot while the burger's still in the drainer and cooks them until they've softened a bit then returns the burger to the pot*

Okay, where is the tomato sauce. I know I put it in this cabinet somewhere! .... oh, there it is behind the Cap'n Lanzer cereal box that SOMEBODY beat me to the prize out of! gonk

*adds two cans of tomato sauce to pot (I think the're around 15 oz each) and then pulls the spices out of the cabinet - garlic powder, basil, oregano and thyme*

This is the tricky part because it's all intuitive. I don't measure the spices really. Just shake the garlic powder over the top until there's a light coating. Then I toss some oregano into my hand until it looks like enough and then crush it into the pot. Maybe about a tablespoon full if I'm making a single batch? Then half as much basil, finishing up with a couple good pinches of thyme remembering that you can always add more of anything so not overdoing. Then stir in and simmer uncovered for a while.

*wanders over to flip through the radio stations stopping on one that is playing Will Smith's "Wild Wild West", ponders how it was the best part of that movie and dances back to the stove*

I guess it's time to taste this. *tastes* Darn, I forgot the salt. And it needs a little more oregano. *takes out shaker and adds some salt and a pinch of oregano* That's good. Time to let it simmer until it thickens up a bit more then put it on the cooked pasta! I think we're going with plain spaghetti tonight.

Darn! I don't know what kind he likes. I guess I will make it half chocolate and half white cake and hope that it will do.
