It's a struggle to hold conversations in fast-moving threads as I don't get on the computer much... not allowed to at work, share computer with children at home, has housework, mom to care for, etc.
We used to have some slow-moving conversation threads where we'd stop by and leave comments to each other back and forth... kinda disrupted by time conversations given different time zones and whatnot...
I miss those.. sad

I prefer slow-moving threads, too.
They require patience that is starting to disappear in the faster pace of the internet.

my signature is very random surprised
but yes i would agree with the general consensus that having a conversation in gaia is kinda hard without being religiously on the computer xD

As someone who has turned into a Lurker for the most part: I notice that the main problem with the lack of conversation within threads comes from the fact that the author of the thread doesn't ever reply stressed As mentioned in another thread here, I enjoy poking my head into the ED forum, and I have to admit to not really posting more than once since the author seems to disappear, although I will revisit to see if he / she re-appears to respond to my response. *sigh* I have noticed, in my brief time here, that y'all do actually keep responding and keep the conversation moving. It's very pleasant 3nodding

charamath I've stopped beating it now. Thouhgt it was broken, tried to fix it, made it worse for a bit, then better, took forever. Now I've realised the main problem was user-imptience and it IS just old and crappy, like me.
So I'm being nicer to it now and I'm buying dsome RAM (whatever the heck that its) as a sorry-present! xd
Lil BratI know what you mean about the time zones, I know very few people online in the UK and I got on at weird times anyway. Middle of the night here, work-time everywhere else.
Feel free to join in here! 3nodding
KarillI don't mind being patient with some threads I visit but I hate when people start a thread and then wander off and leave it unattended. Poor lonely abandoned threads! sad
Folgor lol, and what's wrong with worshiping the Most Holy Gaia 24/7? wink
Dante_de_Fenal lol, I went into ED once. eek Far too scarey for me! Extended discussion my arse. More like Extended Weird. But I'm finding that with more and more places on Gaia. I used to love the exchange but now no-one chats there anymore, it's all too greedy.
akiko0083 3nodding It's hard to find people who have that staying power. Although I have met a couple of people on Gaia recently who I've managed to stay in touch with for longer than a day! xd
Speaking of which, you there Maester_Leoshin?

ram is always good. Get enough so you can play Spore! LOL! I know how you feel- I work around my computer all the time, so junk tends to get stuck in the keyboard. So I asked my computer-savy ex if I could take it apart and clean it out. He says 'yes'. I take it apart, clean it out and...none of my keys worked. Took it apart again (wich is a long process, mind you), and a dozen of the keys worked. Two days later and several dozen re-builds, and I finnaly got the dratted thing working.

As I said before I've appologised to my laptop and I'm buying it a bit of upgrade to make it up! 3nodding
charamath Until yesterday I thought ram was a man-sheep. rolleyes I really am a technology disaster waiting to happen. I once took the back off a keyboard and shook it to get the bits out. All I got were a whole heap of little plastic oooojits. Sadly it never worked again. sad Fairy + screwdriver = disaster.

LOL! Those 'plastic oodjits' would be what push the keys back up after you press them smile They're a pain to get back in place, but it was the pressure-sensitive sheet under them that reaped havoc for me.
