Shemei laughed softly, "Well dear your not sleeping in a bed...so there is no need to clean you here...you will only get more dirty." She smiled, "Now sleep little brother...the sun is going down...and if night animals show up I will wake you for some of them."

Firrah smiled and nodded.
"Okay," he murmured softly, snuggling down against her once more. He wasn't going to make her promise, or remind her not to forget - he trusted that she would remember, and that she would indeed let him sleep if nothing interesting showed up.
He yawned again, his little white teeth reflecting the setting sun, then lay his head against her chest and closed his eye, cuddling into her fur and letting her warmth seep into him.
Before he knew it, he was fast asleep.

Shemei loved the feel of the small male against her. She was a cuddle Katorai. But she was never able to cuddle with anyone...even Casimiro only allowed her head to lay in his lap from time to time.
She watched him and well into the night she woke him up gently, "Now...stay in my arms and slowly look to your right...there is a skunk and her skunkets...don't make too loud of a noise or you will scare them..."

Firrah's sleep was deep and wonderful, far more restful than his doped sleep of earlier that day, and when Shemei woke him up he felt rested and content.
He was about to ask what was going on when she told him about the skunk and warned him to be quiet, and, immediately alert, he did exactly as she instructed him: he turned his head ever so slowly to the side to look for what she was trying to show him.
He blinked, seeing nothing but some waddling white strips in the darkness. "Huh?" he whispered softly, glancing up at Shemei.

Shemei smiled, "They are small black creatures with a white stripe down their back. follow the stripe to the end and you can see their eyes....and when they get near the water to drink the reflection on the water will show their faces."
She rubbed his back softly with her hand. Very happy.

Firrah turned his eye to look out into the darkness once more, and sure enough, when he looked where Shemei told him, he could see two pinpricks of light at the front of each of the white stripes. He giggled softly, trying not to scare them away.
"Are they very big?" he whispered quietly to her. "How far away are they?"

Shemei lowered her head to lick his cheek, "Close enough that if we startle them and they feel threaten we will get sprayed with a nasty smelling fluid that wont come off for a long wail." she laughed softly and shielded him a bit more just incase they got startled.

Firrah's single eye grew wide, and he pressed himself closer to Shemei, careful not to make any big or fast movements so that they wouldn't get sprayed. He didn't know how bad it could be, but he had a feeling that he didn't want to find out.
He watched the skunks for a while, but soon he could feel himself growing sleepy once more.
"Shemei?" he murmured softly, looking up at her again. "Did you sleep at all yet?"

Shemei wondered if she should lie or not. "Oh little brother...don't worry...you just sleep...they will wander off soon...and early in the morning is when most of the animals come to drink.

Firrah frowned gently, reading through her words. He lifted one hand and gently pawed at her forehead.
"Okay," he told her softly, "but you have to sleep too ... okay? You need to rest, too ..."
His expression was perfectly serious as he looked at her. If she didn't rest he would worry about her all the next day ...

Shemei blushed a bit at his tone and his seriousness. She nods, "Yes little brother I will sleep...jsut rest now.." She nuzzles him and shut her eyes too to show him she would sleep.

Firrah smiled and closed his eye, lowering his arm again and laying it on her back. He licked her cheek softly, a good night kiss, and then snuggled against her again.
"Good night," he murmured ... and then he was off again.

Shemei would does threw the night and at dawn like she said she would she woke up and then softly nuzzled Firrah, "We have guest....dears...birds...even a couple of rabbits..." she said softly licking his muzzle motherly.

Firrah's second sleep was not as deep as his first, and when Shemei licked his muzzle he was awake instantly. However, he wasn't quite so awake as he had been the first time.
"Huh?" he asked in a normal tone, one ear twitching slightly. He squinted at her through his one good eye, but it was clouded with sleep and he couldn't see much at all.

There was a scurry of more timid animals running away at his sound. Shemei laughed and sat up letting the softly sunlight glow on the boy. "It is morning...are you still tired?"
