@`teh: He was talking to me.

I want to make a plate reverb unit, because I've never got to play with one, but I don't know where to find a mic for it that won't blow my wallet inside out. I also don't know how to construckt(sic) the plate.

Which one? They all come with inaccurate capacitors and the like. You oughtta buy your own parts to make it ultimate. Sure, they can get it to you 'cheaper than you can' unless you're like me and buy electro components in bulk and also care about what you're putting in your stompbox (although THEIR Ge Transistors are pretty good, anyway. Just don't use Ge diodes if they've got 'em. The leakage is ultimate.)

Xicon film caps for the win.

I have faith in the person I'm picking it up from. He builds a lot of them and juices em up. I bought my triangle muff off him a few months ago, it hasn't let me down yet.

Why don't you just build your own clone, like the name suggests? Juicing them up is kind of a personal taste thing. If you really want your ideal pedal, that's where the cloning shoppes come in. They give you a basic circuit diagram and parts, and you upgrade and swap out whatever you feel like.

Because I didn't use the pitchblack much. I wanted another fuzz. It's easier to trade than order and build at this time. I'll probably build some in december.

Or, since you're getting a BYOC anyway, you can modify the one that you've got. See if you can get the spare parts from the package from the guy who constructs it for you in the deal so that you can tweak the circuit.

So gais, I'll be saving teh monehs and hopefully be getting some for Christmas. I'm thinking of either getting an Analog Man Sun Face Fuzz or saving it for one of my many other GAS prospects. What do ya'll think?

Don't do Analog Man's fuzz face. It's simply an anatomically correct fuzzer circuit, nothing special, not really worth the cash. What you CAN take from his project is that he actually uses proper values and the circuit sounds GOOD. I suggest that you get the schematic for his circuit and make it yourself. (Check and see if either General Guitar Gadgets or BYOC's schematics are similar and buy one of their packages (supplemented with better electrical components from an online distributer if neccesary) if they are. If they aren't, then there's a lovely little site called PedalPartsPlus that'll sell you enclosures on the cheapy which you can load up with your AnalogMan schematic.) You'll save about 65%, which isn't chump change at all. If you don't have a soldering gun, buy a cheap 30 watter from RadioShack and get someone to teach you how to use it.
