I believe you have me pegged all wrong little missy, this is as close to normal and happy as it gets for them, anywhere else they're picked on, bullied, or straight out killed by other animals for their deformities. For they are each only one of their kinds, because of this fact they can never have descendants or families at all, I enhance the joy in their lives, I do not lessen it." all this he said before remembering not to open up to random people, he stopped stroking the, monstrosity they had seen earlier,'s back and turned back to her, shutting his mouth for good after his next 6 words, "enjoy your time at our carnival." after saying that he walked back to his office, frustrated with his own openness.

After a couple of minutes, the phone in his office rang.
Samantha was starting to feel guilty.
Maybe they're safer... no, no!, she thought. I'll be fired if I'm any more insubordinate to the Chief! As a part-time officer and full-time-detective in civilian safety-related affair, it is my duty to somehow free them... but how?
[[I know it's a short post, but it's worth it. It's a pretty good plot twist I just thought up.]]

The voice on the other end was that of a middle-aged male.
"This is the Federal Marshal L. Ross speaking. I know that I was short a little bit on my end of the deal in our last gambling operation, but I think I've made up for it."
[[Sam's the only non-crooked cop, apparently.
And I got the idea for the gambling thing from the app for Valentine which says that he engages in underground dealings. Gambling with the police/bribing seems like something suitable...]]

Mr. Ross continued.
"She may even acquire some retail, though probably not much; she's half-demon, with a missing father and a dead-by-childbirth mother, though she has shown no physical or mental traits suitable of her species. She's very insubordinate and stubborn, so you may have to whip her into shape."
[[Sam, Sam, Sam. So gullible. You'd think she'd realize after living there for 3 years that it was untouched by police, and that the mission to undo a huge violation of civilian safety being given to a mere freelancing detective/part-time cop would ring some alarms....]]

Samantha paused.
"Truth be told, I'm actually a freelance detective and part-time cop. I work under Mr. Ross, the city's Federal Marshal. And I'm not little, I'm 22!"
She took out her badge.
"You are under arrest for the housing of sentient civilians against their own will, and feeding the dead ones to the younger ones, therefore putting your clientèle into potential danger!"
Well, genius, her conscience said, How are you going to apprehend him?
She didn't have a gun [though that didn't matter, bullets didn't really work on vampires to her knowledge], and she didn't carry holy water around because it would harm her as well. [[She forgot about garlic, lol.]]
She flinched.
"E-Errr, well, I was.... joking! I paid my ten dollars, I saw what I wanted to see! Buh-bye!"
She attempted to make a run for it.

He ran over and grabbed her around the neck in a headlock and dragged her back to his office while saying, "haha, you thought you worked for him, my dear he sold you to me now, so you are now mine. He owed me, and you're his payment, lovely job arming yourself against vampires by the way.HAHAHA!" he laughed right in her face, showing her how helpless her situation really was.

Sam tried to coat her shock with indifference.
"What can I say, I don't believe in pointless violence, and there was nobody to back me up. If my virginity is what appeals to you so much, just throw me out. I'll be useless to you after it's gone, so what's the point?"

((Since it's the next day, or night I'm assuming, I should post for Teddy.))
Teddy woke in the early morning dazed and a little sore, but very content. He reached up and touched his neck. Looked like it would be a hair down day. He had been a little frightened when Markus' teeth first brushed his skin, but being bitten was nothing at all like he expected. And the sounds he'd made were far from cries of pain, Teddy recalled with a blush spreading across his cheeks. He hoped these weren't thin walls.
Teddy could not tell what time it was in the darkened room, but he hastily dressed anyway and let himself out. He made his way outside and kept walking until he found a payphone. Judging by the sun, it was still pretty early; he must not have slept that long. He was still a bit groggy, but it was nothing a bit of sugar couldn't patch for now. Teddy called Dean's cell phone. He didn't care if he woke that jerk up early anyway.
"Dean. Who do you think it is? Ha, funny, no I'm not eaten. What the hell man, I didn't get lost, you guys left me here. Yeah, yeah, I'll forgive you plenty when you get your butt back here. You're buying me breakfast. So I don't tell my parents where you left me last night, that's why. I'll tell them I camped on your couch. Hurry up; I have to work today before I can get any more sleep. You're lucky I'm going to be too exhausted to strangle you when I get home."
Teddy looked at the nearest street sign, told Dean where he was, then hung up and waited. it didn't take long for his ride to arrive and that was a good thing; Teddy was practically asleep on his feet. "Man, what did you do all night? Tell me you at least got laid. You did, didn't you?" Dean prodded for information, but Teddy wasn't awake enough to make up a woman and he sure wasn't telling Dean about Markus.
"I didn't 'get laid'. I went to a dance club with some people, that's all. Breakfast now? You so owe me."

Teddy somehow survived work that day, not to mention explaining to his parents why he was out all night without calling. And as predicted, he was exhausted. He passed out on his bed in the mid afternoon and it was dark when he woke up again. Teddy didn't rush to get out of bed, though. What was there to do at night except... no. No, absolutely not. Though at least this time he would be in his own car...
Teddy hemmed and hawed, still planted face down on his bed. In the end he decided it wasn't a good idea to return to the Riverfront, but he still didn't want to lay about the house. He would just take a drive and see where he wound up. Assuming he could slip past his parents; he was beyond being grounded or anything like that, but they still scolded and lectured with the best of them.

((my turn for a twist,)) help, you seem to know alot about these creatures, even if you're naive sometimes," he turned her so he was holding her by the shoulders, "look, I want you to help me keep these animals, my babies, alive, they've been getting sick quite alot lately, now it's your turn to choose just as I did," he removed his mask, releasing her from his hold, he had a large gash across his already slightly wrinkled and deformed face, his voice cracked, "help...me..." his last request before he became silent.
...so sad, so true.

Samantha's eyes widened, and she felt a tremendous pang of guilt.
"I-I don't know anything, really. I'm just a... former... detective, and a half-demon with no power besides immortality. I know that every animal has a transmittable sickness, but that's it. And I can't stay here for that long, I have to get my food..."
While she was relieved, a small thought in the darkest depths of her mind was slightly disappointed. [[HAHAH WHAT? Apparently Sam is a victim of Stockholm syndrome...]]

It didn't take me long to fall asleep when Teddy and I were done. I slept until the next afternoon, waking and closing the blinds. It took me a moment to realize that Teddy was gone.
I began to panic. Had he thought this a one night stand? Well, perhaps I had given him that impression... But I didn't want it to be so meaningless. I groaned, feeling helpless; I wouldn't be able to leave till nightfall.

As soon as I felt the sun sinking into the Earth, I dashed out of the hotel room, down through the dance floor. It was still early, so the place wasn't very occupied. I burst out into the comfortable night air and began to look around frantically for my lover of the previous night.
