D looked up at York. "Of course I forgive you. I don't think I could ever be angry with you...not really and never for long." he nuzzled York, not wanting to let go and sighed when he finally had to. "Thats a good idea..." he said to York wanting to check on the bowls. "I'll strip the bed and sort through some things in here." he said watching York leave.

He stood for a few seconds and then moved over to the bed and tossed all the dusty sheets off. Once finished he sorted through a few of the boxes. Most of it was broken equipment, or things they couldn't get rid of safely without arousing suspicion. D put them all in one box. He'd get York to try taking some of it apart later for parts for kits and maybe even some replacement circuits for York's armor.

That cheered him up a bit. As long as they kept it simple D could walk York through the steps necessary to replacing parts. He knew that the current condition of the armor upset them both, even if it wasn't top priority right now.

D slowly waded his way through the room until he came back around to near where he'd started. He wasn't sure how much time had passed but he decided it was high time to check on York. He made a short list of the evenings activities as he left the second room. Attach the back doors lock, make dinner, move the boxes, clean up the room and make the bed in there. He smiled to himself. Maybe if York wasn't tired they could read tonight, still smiling faintly he went into there room.

York glanced up as D came into the room. He smiled. "They're still here, of course," he joked. He reached out a paw and flicked the beads of the tan bowl. "I ought to get that lock attached," he said absently. "We have all the more reason to secure the apartment now." He got up and stretched. "I'll get that done now, and I can help clean up the other room later. We ought to take the photos out of the boxes, I think...I mean, there's some space on the shelves for them." He padded into the other room to fetch the black album with the project photographs and slid them onto a space on the shelf. Pulling out the lock from yesterday, he made his way to the door. His mind still a whir of dusty memories like leaves in a gale, he installed the lock and went back to help his partner with clearing the room.

"So what else do we need to do today?" York asked Delta. "I can probably fix myself dinner, keep helping with the room..." He paused as he peered into one box. "Wow," he murmured. "We might have the spare parts necessary to fix my armor after all, I think..." He reverently closed the box and set it aside. "We're going to need a place to put everything, D."

D watched York slightly amused. It seemed that the ability to figure out what the other one was thinking was mutual. He watched York install the lock and then go back in to the spare bedroom.

"Its nice to know I'm not the only one who knows what the other is thinking." he said smirking. "I think you already listed everything that we have left."

He watched York opened one of the boxes of parts he'd decided to keep and nodded. "It seems we've never thrown much away...but then again most of those things are too incriminating to get rid of." he flicked his tail sightly and nodded. "But that had been my hope was that you could salvage enough parts to fix your armor."

D thought for a moment and then pointed at the box containing the few things they still had from the project. "That goes in our room. These three here go in the other room in the closet. They're all parts to be salvaged." he said pointing. "We can probably refill your lock kits too with what ever is left over from your armor." he said.

He then sighed and looked at the last two boxes. "The rest I think is just junk. You can look through to see if I missed anything important, but ideally we probably need to find a way to get rid of it all, although how I haven't figured out yet."

York nodded. "I'm not sure if it's that we can tell what the other is thinking or that we're so used to being one that we simply think alike." With a grunt, he picked up the box with memorabilia and stored it in the cramped closet in the bedroom. Someday, he supposed, they would tell their children about it. Someday they would take it out and show them what they knew...Or at least, show them the people that they can trust even less than strangers, a cynical part of him muttered. Shaking his head to dislodge such thoughts, he returned to the spare room to continue the organization effort by storing more boxes in the closet.

D chuckled and shook his head. "Only on somethings." he said as he went and got a broom to sweep up the dust. As he began he was careful to try and limit the clouds that arose from the floor. Although it wouldn't bother him, he didn't want to make things difficult for York.

"You should make dinner soon..." he said absently as he finished one section of the room. "You'll deserve it after moving all this." he said watching York out of the corner of his eye. Despite the years away from a hard training program, York was still in good shape, and it had never struck D before just how good looking his partner was physically. Oh, he'd always known that York was attractive, but that wasn't what had lead him to falling for his partner originally, but it was a plus.

D tried not to watch to obviously as York moved the boxes and tried to stick to cleaning up the floor instead of watching his partners every move.

York nodded. "I will," he said absently. He turned to see that D was sweeping the floor. He looked...well, York supposed, he'd always looked good. Though that was natural, wasn't it? After all, an AI could choose and change their appearance...it would be but the work of a moment to assume a form that pleased him, wouldn't it? Is that why he looks so good? Or is it just who he is? He smiled at his folly. I don't think I care, actually... Without realizing what he was doing, York caught D with one arm and kissed him on the mouth, feeling the wave of bliss he always felt with D. He pulled away gently and muttered something about having to start fixing dinner, padding away to the kitchen to think about what just happened.

D absently nodded and continued to sweep. He nearly dropped the broom a moment later as York caught him up in a kiss. D felt his body tremble at the touch of his partner's mouth against his. He gently closed his eyes letting the feeling of euphoria sweep over him as he returned York's kiss.

He suppressed a disappointed sigh as York then pulled away and muttered about dinner. "Starch is on the counter and the chops in the fridge." he said absently. He watched York leave and then distractedly began sweeping the floor again. I wonder what that was about... he thought to himself as he went and retrieved the dust pan from the corner where he'd put it. And somehow I don't think York even knows... he carefully swept up the dust and put it in one of the discard boxes.

He then started on another corner of the room and decided he'd give York a bit before he started asking questions. It only seemed fair.

York hummed tunelessly as he started to fix dinner. His profession had long since given him steady hands even as his mind when his mind was acting like a snowglobe--like it was now.

He was, to some degree, certain why he kissed D. They were in love, weren't they? He loved D and kissing was a natural reaction. It had felt good, too--kissing had never felt this good until it was D he was kissing. Sliding the chops in the oven, he thought it over. I guess it wasn't the kiss that surprised me, it was the fact that I didn't know what was happening. He wasn't sure if he liked that; spontaneity was all well and good, but if he didn't know what he was doing now, would there come a moment when he needed to know what to do and he got distracted?

He shook his head and sighed. Probably not. He had never felt this way in an operation--just that moment with D. I think I'm safe...I've felt safe before and been wrong, but I'm sure I'm safe now from whatever mistakes I may make.

D finished sweeping the room and then bundled up the dusty sheets and took them out into the living room. He put them carefully on the floor to not stir up dust and then went to the kitchen.

"Are you alright?" he asked watching York for any tell tale sign of distress. "I didn't upset you did I?" he asked somewhat nervously.

He picked up the end of his tail and fiddled with it for a few seconds before stopping and looking back at York. "Because...I really liked the kiss...and I'd hate it if you did." he said innocently.

York turned to D, a trifle surprised. "Upset me?" he asked. "How could you upset me?" He held D's paws in his and gazed into the deep green wells in his mate's face. "I don't think you're capable of ever upsetting me. Not on purpose, anyway. Maybe something will happen that frightens me, but I don't think you'll ever make me upset." He smiled softly. "I liked the kiss, too," he said shyly. The knowledge that, however inadvertently, he had made Delta happy made him feel bubbly inside, and his heart started to speed up. He was leaning forward to kiss D again when the timer on the oven went off.

He grumbled and checked on the meat. "Never fails. Just as we're having a romantic moment, something interrupts us!"

D leaned towards York, waiting, wanting York to kiss him again. His eyes were brighter and he felt himself starting to glow slightly, something he'd thought he'd trained himself to stop doing.

He sighed as the timer went off, and instantly his glow stopped. "We're cursed evidently." He fiddled with his tail for a moment and then looked back up at York. "Get something to eat...Maybe with a full stomach and everything done for the day, we...you and I...maybe we can pick up where we keep leaving off." he said with a slight grin.

York grinned back and settled down to eat dinner, conveniently forgetting any vegetables. As he began to eat, he thought about D's last comment, made in the name--he assumed--of light banter. But perhaps it was something more...ominous.

Perhaps they were cursed--cursed never to lead a normal life, never to--Stop that. You're just being paranoid from lack of food. Eat. You'll feel better. Conspiracy stories aren't for you, he told himself sternly. As he approached the end of his plate, he began to feel better and less worried. "Do you remember which book you were reading to me last?" he asked D. "I don't think I remember."

D watched York forget anything green leafy and good for him. He roll his eyes and went and fetched a salad from the fridge and put it down in front of his partner. "Nice try." he said settling himself down across from York.

He watched York eat for a few minutes then grinned at the question. "Of course I do. Do you think I'd forget something like that? It would take more than whatever happened last night for me to forget." He paused and contemplated the night before briefly. The only thing he was coming up with were some indefinite swirls of emotion that he could only categorize as something akin to "bliss".

He shrugged and then looked back at York. "Do you want me to read to you tonight, York?" he asked hopefully.

York sighed and picked at the salad, pausing to grin at D as he put it on the table. "I try," he murmured.

"Well, I didn't remember," he replied. "You have a much, much better memory than I do, D. If last night had been...different...I might remember." A deep fuzziness still shaded last night--one of those veils that hung quietly, daring any foolish soul to poke it too hard. York decided once more to leave it be. He had a few guesses anyway; after all, they had woken up with bowls, hadn't they?

"Of course I'd like you to read to me," he said with a smile. "The times you read to me are the highlights of my day." There was something deeply satisfying about curling up on the bed and letting his cares drift away as he listened to D's voice. D had a good voice for listening to.

D smiled. "You fail." he teased twitching his tail playfully.

D then shrugged. "Not always. I am subject to forgetting things or having errors in my memory just as much as you are." he then smiled brightly. "Then I'd love to." he said happily.

He ran through his programs and tagged the bookmarked place in the book for easy access. It would probably still be awhile before they went to bed but at least he'd have it up and ready for when they did.

"I think that all I have left to do is remake the bed in the second bedroom...and you should finish moving the boxes...after that I think we can safety say we're finished and get up to something less stressful than house work." he said. "In fact I'll go do that now." he got up and stretched quickly and then trotted into the other room.
