"I personally think the green suits me," grumbled Mahora from where he lay.

He had sensed Thela's presence, his eyes closed though. He lay curled up, head resting on his front paws. But when she entered, he lifted his head, black eyes watching her for a moment.

"I trust you filled Raiden in on everything," he asked.

"If you say so, sir," Thela commented wryly, carefully cleansing her paw. When Mahora asked about Raiden, Thela abashedly remembered that she probably should have told Mahora that right from the start.

"Yes. He is taking two other outriders to run a full inspection. Some of the others have increased patrols in the area to look out for suspicious activities, in pairs." She added in other details from her outing as well.

"He suggested I come back to you." She did not mention that he told her to do that because he was injured. It would be rude of her to insinuate that he needed to be watched or babied.

"Figures. Thinks I can't take care of myself."

Mahora lowered his head again. His voice hadn't been mean, merely disappointed. But he was a bit more aggravated with Raiden than Thela. After all, she'd only been following orders.

"That's good. Lets hope he doesn't get himself killed."

Kiros got back up onto all fours and then started pacing back and fourth in 5 feet intervals. Kiros wasn't tired and new under the circumstances it wouldn't be wise to go for a walk. He honestly did not know what to do, "whish it was time for the counsel" he thought to himself. He did not like waiting in the least bit unless it was for hunting.

((I'm back!))

Calyn let Zephre tend to the wounds, though she didn't go into the cave. She laid down on the grass, letting the rain continue to drench her before it finally stopped. She watched the others silently, looking to Brindle when the huntress finally laid down. "You're not going to let me out of yours, and about five other cats', sight, are you?" she asked quietly, wearily. She'd debated leaving, she knew she'd be able to do so silently. But then she'd probably be confined to a cave when Brindle finally caught her.

Tami listened to the story, curling up around Jacqueline and the other cubs who had stopped playing on her to lay down, beside or ontop of her, to listen to Zephre. She watched as most of them drifted off to sleep afterwards, and the leopard looked to her mentor. "Are we going back to the cave?" she asked quietly, wondering how she'd get out from under the sleeping bodies.

ooc;; Welcome back, Thymeast! :3

bic;; Cirro kneeded the muddy grass with his forepaws, turning to watch Kiros with a dark brownish-red gaze. Cirro could tell the half-breed was getting impatient. Many of them were. The Clouded Leopard breathed deeply, taking in the fresh air of the cool night, many scents filling his senses. The tomcat paused for a moment, before beginning to give himself a thorough groom.

Kiros finaly stopped pasing but stayed on all fours. After a few minuets he did settle back to sitting. He went back to doing his small scouting of the area as he sat there.

((Welcome back people! I think its time to turn the page on this story...))

Brindle raised her head, fixing Calyn with a serious stare.
"What do you think I should do?" Her tone was neither angry nor anxious, but soft and calm as she tried to hide the concern she felt.
"I think we can count on another attack if you go anywhere alone. Escorts would be a good idea, at least until we get to the bottom of this."
Brindle cast about the group of cats once more, an idea forming in her mind.
"Tomorrow I'd like you to pick at least one other cat to accompany you at all times."
Brindle thought that giving her a choice may take the edge of the indignation she probably felt. "Tonight, I think I'll sleep outside the main den. I advise the same to you."
It was late, the day they had spent hunting and scouting, together with the night's events had taxed her strength. She put her head down in the soft, damp grass.

Zephre turned back to his apprentice.
"I suppose you're buried up to your ears in sleeping cubs?" he guessed in a quiet voice. "If Bianca would allow it, we might stay here for the night." His statement was more of a request to the den leader and he faced her, ears down at the side of his head in an apologetic manor.

Raiden went to the location of the murder, taking with him only those who had loyalties to himself. The tiger Gen was one of the two cats he brought. The other was a lean caracal with a ferret-like face.
The liger found the body easy enough with Gen's help, and as he stood over it his mind was working furiously on how he could use this to his advantage.
"Gen, how well is Brindle liked in the pride?" He asked in a cool tone.
"Er, I'd say very well sir." was the tiger's reply.
Raiden was silent for a moment, when he spoke, it was to the caracal at his side.
"There is a cave on the far side of the cliffs, a ways away from the main den. Find Azure and tell him to meet me there in the morning. For now I want the pride only to know that the murderer was a tiger, and the victim was attempting to assassinate Kurros' daughter."
With that he turned and began to stalk away.
"But...the body sir. What's to be done with it?" Gen looked down on his former comrade's corpse with little emotion.
Raiden did not even turn around. "Take it further out and leave it to the scavengers."

Calyn said nothing, looking down. She wanted to just do something. For once not have to worry about the cats that wanted her dead too. She felt so helpless, unable to do anything without the consent of at least Brindle, unable to go anywhere without being followed. And now she was both wounded and to be guarded by two other cats.

((a question. What would they have done with Kurros and Serria's bodies?))
PostPosted: Thu Jul 31, 2008 5:04 pm

((Hmm, I'm going to say there were buried where they were killed and a mourning ceremony was performed back in the central pride lands.))

Brindle saw her expression and got up slowly, moving over to her second and lying down with her back against the panther's side. It was the only way she thought she could offer comfort without treating Calyn like a cub.
"Things are hard now." She said softly, "I can only imagine what it is like to walk on your paws. Both parents taken from you and now your life is wanted as well."
She sighed, watching an ant scuttle over her large claws. "I'll find a way to stop them Calyn. I promise."
With that she lay her head down gently, and tried her best to fall asleep.

"Of course you two are welcome to stay. The more bodies, the warmer the den will be." Bianca spoke softly, nodding her head in appreciation of thier time with the cubs.

She too was incased with little ones. There were six around her all place perfectly so that she couldn't move an inch of anything but her head without disturbing them.

Bianca looked outside the cave and planned on remarking her territories in the morning. With that, she settle her head as her bright eyes dissappeared under her lids. Her ears continued to shift about, listening, until she soon fall asleep knowing she needed it.

((kay, thanks))

Calyn smiled faintly. "Thanks Brindle." she murmured, setting her head on her paws. She curled around her, as much she could before trying to sleep. They'd both need it.
