Thank you "she curtsies" for allowing me to be in your guild. Thank you to toadies_soarys for accepting my application.

My first love is the Victorian age. My second love is rughooking which goes back centuries. It is NOT latch hook. If anyone wants more info please feel free to pm me.

Eniaco
Good morning. biggrin I'm quite glad you made this guild, and thank you muchly for the invite! I have a feeling half the F&S and corset lovers guild would join if they knew about this place.

Anyway, I'm Eniaco. My favorite time periods are 1700's (18th century Rococo ) and 1800's (19th century Victorian) I perfer the later half of both.

I love bustles, corsets, and layers upon layers of fabric.

Heres some examples of my favorite styles!

Edit by Toadies Soarys: I struck throught the last comment because we are just normal people that own/moderate the guild... anything as far as gaia clothes or items are concerned should be taken up with the Gaia team... we are simply just a place to hang out....and i fixed your coloring for you smile

Hello everyone, I am Audrey. First off I would like to thank you for excepting me into this lovely guild! I've been skimming around the boards and it really looks exciting. However, I wish not to say 'looks' any longer. From here on out I want to say this guild 'is' excellent!

If you wish to know my favorite time periods, they would have to be the Victorian Era(Who doesn't love this era?), the British Regency, and the Stuart period.

I really love anything that shows off a women's curves.
Thank you again!

Regards,
Audrey

Hi! I just recieved my acceptance to the guild (WEEHA!) My real love are cultures, I love the differences in languages, socially and religiously and with fashion. I love fashion styles throughout the ages. I've recently been dipping my toes into whatever I can dig up about gypsy (Roma) cultures. I really like the old Japanese styles and Kimono's. I could show pictures of styles I like but I can't remember the exact time periods.. I like the corseted look somewhat.. and the lace ruffled at the ends of sleeves (I am thinking the victorian age) is something I really like and I think it looks very elegant.

I'm doing alot of research lately as I am trying to write a book and the main character goes through alot of time periods and cultures. I was extatic to learn about this guild.

I'm a 26 yr old working Mother of 1 so I may not be extremely active.. but I hope to learn alot more and make some new friends smile

Hello, everyone -

My name is Tigonus.

I have a variety of interests - one of which is a strong interest in history and historic costume. My particular passion is Classical Greece - but some very good friends of mine are pulling me into Roman and Byzantine interests, as well.

I am part of the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA - check out www.sca.org if you like) - which is a historical re-creationist group for the Middle Ages, mostly Europe but open to anything that is pre-1600. In that group I have a Greek persona - in a group where Classical personas are rare, but it is still a lot of fun. My garb there tends to be comparatively simple, since I am an "early period" persona - and I end up in a lot of chitons and T-tunics.

I am a book buff, so literature and theater is of great interest to me - I'm going to be digging in on some "new" Homer I didn't know was there. smile I also love theater history - which is one of the reasons I'm nuts about the Greeks, and thereby the Greek playwrites.

I also have a very real weakness for Victorian-style clothing - I have recently discovered the "Lolita" and "Gothic Aristocrat" style, and am very impressed. Some one also recently shoved a book on Tutor costuming in my face recently, and I am fascinated.

I do also love Elizabethan Blackwork - a kind of embroidery that is now done with black thread on white fabric, and can end up with some genuinely beautiful designs. I've done some of them, myself - they are remarkable easier than you might think at first.

I am new to Gaia as a whole, and am very glad to see that there is some serious interest here in historic costuming and culture. You will have to forgive me if I tend toward more of the Classical and Middle Ages, but that is what I've been embroiled in over the last ten years - but I am looking forward to broadening my period costuming experience.

Is there any way that I can "Greek" out my avatar?

Tigonus

Hello there

I am known around here as either blufireandshadows or blue, but I am also called Becca.

I adore history, and each period holds some interest to me. There is so much that I would love to see inthe world, which is why I plan on becoming an archaeologist, so I can help preserve and conserve these precious pieces of our past.

I also adore literature and music- nothing frees my soul more than putting on a good CD and reading something to relax me. I write poetry and play a few instruments, but am not really that amazingly brilliant. Honest, Im not, I just like to play for playing's sake.

Its good to be smewhere were poeple are like-minded to me. Glad to be a part of this guild.

Until next time then, adieu

~Becca

Hello! My name IRL is Laura and I am very interested in certain periods of history including ancient Celtic and British lore, Roman times, Nautical hotory, the Revolutionary War, and the Civil war. I also find the Victorian Era interesting though somewhat morbid at times. XD I am also a lover of literature, poetry, and music of many cultures and I write short fiction and poetry. It's nice to see a guild like this. Nice to meet you all.

Hi everyone! My name is Sarah and I want to say thank you so much for accepting me into the guild. I love tons of historical things, especially in the victorian and regency eras. If I could wear clothing from then all the time, I definitely would. I love reading historical romances, do scottish dancing, play flute and love art and writing.

My name is Yvette Aimee. I am 24, married and a mother of 1, a daughter named Grace Elizabeth. I have a very deep love of historical fiction, and had thoughts of starting a guild just for that purpose to share the books I've read and learn about others from members. That was until I learned of this guild. I'm not sure now whether or not I'll start my own guild.
