Ah ok! Wait, once you release your Zanpakuto right? You start out with a sealed on firt correct?

Yes. Your normal zan is still custom, but it's spirit is asleep till you awaken it with shikai for the first time.

Le sigh. well how do you get a seald zanpakto? not that im going to be needing one anytime soon but its the principal of the matter.

The sealed Zanpakuto is YOUR creation! It is just a plain old metal weapon though, no special attributes or spirit.

yea..i tried to start with one but one of the moderators told me i had to be allowed to make one an until then i had a simple starter zanpakto which is the basic black sheath cold steel sword...so thats all i really have XD

lol alright. its weird tho cuz compared to my character the basic starter is like a wakazashi (i cant spell it))

Guy's your making this out to be harder than it is. Your Zanpakutou at this stage is just a basic Katana sword. No special powers or anything. Think of it as your gift from graduating from the academy.
You training with it and build a bond with it. Once you achieve rank (usually within your two month period or sooner if your lucky) and the Captain and VC think you are ready, one of them will tell you to meet them at the training grounds and they will walk you through achieving your Shikai and meeting your Zanpakutou's spirit.
If you want, go to the training grounds and read my Shikai posting with VC Yamoto. You'll see what I mean. biggrin

so i should actually have the sword in my Bio not the little 3' black sheath sword? or is it supposed to change when we meet our zanpactos spirit? (just rather be sure than oblivious)

Technically, your original sword needs to be either a full size katana or something like the shorter wakizashi (for certain characters). In design that doesn't change but you can change the color of the wrap, sheathe, and also adjust the shape of the hilt guard. In your sealed form, 99 times out of 100, they don't show differences other than those. All of those elaborate things you want to do with the sword should only be on your shikai version or higher.
