BIC: *Okay, this isn't natural. His first thought upon being glomped is that she's attacking him ... and that thought has less to do with her demonic nature and more to do with the fact that, eventually, many people want to attack him. When he notices her screeching joy (made all the more painful by her proximity to his ear), he winces to hide his confusion.*

*Unfortunately, that means he's distracted enough that when the door opens, 'Bait and Niana don't walk through -- they fall through. And thus a paladin lies on the floor, with a demoness straddling his stomach and hugging the stuffing out of him, and his sword pinned awkwardly between them. It's a good thing I'm not part of any set organization, 'cause this would get me cast out in short order.*

Glah! *He manages a deep breath, then tries again.* Why on earth do you call that good? Rather, why are you so energetically enthusiastic about it? Hoping to get lost in the time stream and become your own grandmother or something?

*Great, now she's kissing his cheek. No, this doesn't look the least bit awkward.* We're all here for a purpose, girl ... but I promise, mine is not to be flattened! I've already tried that; didn't work.

*Finally, he works his arms free, and gently pushes Niana up to a sitting position on his belly. Actually, this isn't really much of an improvement, position-wise, but it gives him a few seconds to focus. The fact that he's able to focus right now probably speaks volumes about him; what it speaks, though, nobody could say. Finally, his tone is calm and matter-of-fact.*

Niana ... you have a purpose. And now, you have some reason to believe this. I'm glad for you. I'll happily discuss the future with you all you want, and I'm curious as to why this gets you so excited. But could we discuss it vertically, please?

BIC: *From the look of that unexpected glow on her cheeks, 'Bait considers himself fortunate that she never noticed the hard scabbard pressing against her thigh. He pulls himself upright, dusting himself off and rubbing briefly at a new bruise before leading her to a table and reaching for a quill. Suddenly, he stops himself before writing, remembering how much trouble these quills have caused him when he hasn't let them do their own writing.*
