Syrus nodded and started to work as well with breaking the tall reeds, tucking them under his arm as he went.

It took a while, but Skye was finally satisfied with the amount of reeds that she and Syrus had collected together, and she put one hand on his shoulder to stop him from picking any more.
Her own arms were full, so she simply nodded to where she had dropped the blanket, then looked back at him and murmured, "Come ... we have enough, I think, to make a good bed for us."
And she set off towards the blanket again, sitting on it and dropping her pile of reeds next to it.

Syrus nodded and was about to say something, but Skye had already turned, so he knew there was no need to right at that moment. So instead he just followed, placing the reeds he had collected with hers on the blanket.

For a few minutes, Skye focused on simply laying out the reeds in the rough shape and size that they would need the mat, and once she had finished she looked to Syrus for approval.
"Maybe you should lay down beside it," she suggested nervously. "I am short so maybe I did not make it tall enough ..."

"I am not that much taller then you Skye," he said with a laugh, but flopped down next to the mat anyway with an almost goofy sort of grin.
"So, oh great mat maker, do you deem the mat large enough?" he asked.

Skye laughed heartily at Syrus. He was so funny! She looked over him, measuring him against the mat, then giggled and moved so that she was sitting just above his head.
"Yes," she giggled, bending over so that her head was right above his, but upside down for him. "I think it will be big enough."
Just why she was sitting like that now, she didn't know, but it was fun.

Syrus laughed again and gave her a quick kiss on the forehead, seeing as she was so close.
"That's good," he said, quite content with where he was at this moment in time.

Skye giggled again, blushing faintly, and ran her fingers along Syrus's cheek before she sat up and moved to one side to begin weaving the mat together into a mattress.
"It is good it is a long night," she commented as her fingers began to work quickly and efficiently. "It is good for sleeping outside, yes?"
Though her fingers were working on the mat, her eyes were fixed on Syrus, not only because she was waiting for his reply but because she just liked looking at him.

Syrus shifted his body to where he was laying on his side and facing Skye so she could see what he said when he talked.
"Indeed," he said. "It is a very nice night to sleep outside," he mused.

Skye smiled warmly at him. "I do not think it could be any better," she told him seriously, her eyes sparkling, reflecting the stars above them. "It is a beautiful night ... and we had a beautiful day ... and now we are together here ..."
She could have gone on of course but shyness made her stop.

Syrus smiled, chuckling just a bit.
"Indeed," he said, replying to all the parts of her statement. He then gave a soft happy sigh.
"Indeed," repeated, though he knew not why.

Skye giggled and continued her weaving. Her fingers worked quickly and skilfully, and even though she regularly cast glances up at Syrus her hands never faltered, not even once.
Finally, her work was complete, and they had a comfortable-sized mat of woven river reeds for the two of them to sleep on.
"Done," she announced brightly, smoothing it out. Then she reached for the blanket. "Do you think we have to sleep right away or maybe can we still talk for a bit?" she asked, a little nervously. She knew that if she were home right now, she would be asleep already, and she wasn't sure if Syrus would think they should go to sleep right away too. Her mother after all was a firm believer in getting enough sleep.

Syrus ran his hand over the mat once it was done and finished. Skye had done some impeccable work, he had to admit, and he also found her choices...well...very hard to choose from. Delay the chance to have an excuse to hold her close to him, or deny the chance of getting to know each other if only a little better.
"Whatever you want to do is fine with me Skye," he said finally.

Skye smiled brightly, her blue eyes catching the moonlight and reflecting it back at Syrus.
"Maybe we can talk while we go to sleep," she suggested. "Then we can be warm with the blanket and with each other but we can still talk and we don't have to worry about waking up more when we are tired."
She didn't know if she was making sense to him, but it made sense to her - and she was looking forward to the entire idea of being able to lay so close to him.
"What you think?" she beamed.
Yes, talking while lying together was what she would like.

"A perfect idea," Syrus said with a smile, being quick to remove at least his shoes and his jacket, as sleeping in shoes was rather uncomfy and sleeping in his jacket with the shirt underneath would get too warm. After he was done, he plopped himself down onto the mat that Skye had made, extending an hand up to her.
"Care to join me?" he asked, that slightly goofy grin re-appearing on his face.
