"It's beautiful..." she muttered, taking it carefully as if it was made of spun glass. It was the first flower she'd ever received from a boy. "Thank you, Colin."

Rosie looked at him carefully. All smiles, and terribly preoccupied with the menu (even though he said he knew what he was getting, she reminded herself), he posed a dashing figure. How unfair it was to have this boy all to her little self.

"So... have you always been this charming?" she teased, though it was a serious question.

He chuckled and layed the menu down.
" I dunno, no ones really ever told me I was charming. Maybe it's just you." He winked at her, and on a whim, scooted so he was sitting next to her. He slung an arm about her shoulder without a care in the world and idly browsed the menu once again.
" On the same note, have you always been this lovely?" He asked, completely serious.

That earned cheeks as rosy as her name.
"I dunno... maybe? Depends on what you think's lovely..." Inside or out, she had some disagreement, there.
She let herself ease into his side a bit as her fingers twiddled with the rose.
"You're pretty good-looking there, too, Prince Charming."

She pulled a goofy smile and half-glanced at him, too embarrassed that she had actually said what she was thinking instead of just letting it go.

Colin grinned right back, pecking her on the forehead.
" So..did you think this would happen? I mean, we met yesterday, for goodness sake. Not that Im complaining." He hastened to add, throwing her a soft smile.

"No. But, you know those stories where you hear people meet and just like that," she said, snapping her fingers, "it's all there? I think it makes sense now. We have to make sure not to move too fast, though..."
After all, no one said they were getting married and planning their lives together.

"I dunno. But it's like I could tell you anything and I know you wouldn't get mad or think I'm weird or anything."

He smiled gently.
" Good. I feel the same way about you. I could never be mad at you." A grin broke out.
" You're too cute." He chuckled warmly, fiddling a bit with her hair.
" And don't worry, I intend to draw all this out as long as I can. I can be compared to a turtle when it comes to dating." He winked at her again and pecked her on the cheek in a loving way.

Rosie had to jump up a little in her seat to reach his cheek, but she got it, and landed a peck of her own.
"Do you have a shell?" she asked, with a slight giggle.

The waitress came to take their orders, Rosie ordering the grilled chicken as she had wanted, along with a small soda. She wondered how they must look together, this small girl next to a tall, handsome boy.

Colin ordered pasta in red sauce with water this time, barely acknowledging the waitresses prescence. His eyes and mind were afixed on the girl next to him, whom he could confidently call his own. If it wasn't yet, it was nearing love. He already knew, some part of him knew anyway, that he was devoted, heart and mind, to her. That was something that hadn't happened before, and he wondered how she was so different and so captivating all at once.

"Hm..." Rosie looked at all the people around them. True, the booth was rather secluded compared to an open table, but she still felt like she was being watched. Maybe that was just the paranoia coming through from a poor night's sleep, but it still felt uncomfortable.
Nevermind, she thought.

"Tell me something about yourself. Anything. Like, what books you like to read, or some song lyric going through your mind." It seemed like a simple request, though had she been asked that question, a dozen things would have fought to be heard.

Colin grinned mischeviously and, lowering his head to her shoulder so he could speak in her ear without anyone hearing, sung quietly.

" Feeling alive all over again
As deep as the sky, under my skin.
Like being in love, she says
for the first time.
Maybe I'm wrong, but I'm feeling right where I belong
With you tonight
Like being in love, to feel for first time."

He backed away grinning.
" Lifehouse." Colin said simply, going back to playing with her hair.

Well, that made the hair on the back of her neck stand up and her cheeks blush. It certainly wasn't what she was expecting.
"You have a nice voice," Rosie offered, though she was distracted with worrying over how red her cheeks were. "I've never met a guy who could sing like you do. Did you always just sing, or did you have lessons...?"

Any talent she had was ground into her from birth, it seemed. Art lessons, piano lessons, even dance, until she refused to go to those anymore. Nothing except art became something she really turned to or liked.

Colin smiled, and quite happily ran a finger over her cheek where it was red for several seconds, before resituating his arm.
" Nope, never had a lesson in my life. I've had lessons in martial arts and such but nothing for anything I was naturally good at, like singing or cooking." He chuckled.
" Ironic how that works. What about you? Any lessons in art, or as you just naturally talented at it?" He asked, tilting his head slightly.

"Oh, I had lessons," she said, missing the touch on her face. "I had lessons since I was five. Then came music lessons with piano. They tried to teach me flute, but I chucked that one aside. Literally." The memory of her flabbergasted instructor gazing between her and the tossed flute like she had committed an act of heresy made her laugh.

"And they tried to make me a ballerina, but I locked myself in my room for two days, living on candy, until they said I didn't have to go anymore. I hated feeling like a performing wind-up doll." Rosie shrugged at her story. Maybe if she hadn't realized how much of a brat she was as a kid, it would have made her smile more.

"Art, though... It was the only thing worth while. Music's great, but... I feel like I'm fighting with the keys and forcing out the sounds just to get it over with rather than feeling anything. People think I play with my heart, but I managed to fake, that, too."
PostPosted: Sat Dec 27, 2008 5:45 pm

He smiled.
" Well, we all have the things we love and the things we do not. I was only fortunate that in the fact that no one tried to for me to become a ballerina, unlike you." He tilted his brow at her, the both of them laughing at the mental image that created.

Their snuggle-tastic moment was broken by the waitress coming over to deliver their drinks and meals, which Colin had taken the liberty of ordering when he had come back in with the rose for Rosie.
" So.." Colin started after taking the first bite and washing it down with water.
" I hear they're having a ball up at the academy tommorow." Heard, or hunted down the information until he had it correct was the real question.

"Yup. They are. I had to drag my dress out and have it pressed in time." Rosie picked at her chicken and took a few bites here and there. Really, she loved that dress, and was all too excited to go out in it. That is, if she even had someone to go with.
Going alone and looking pretty was wasteful, she thought.

"Are you going?"
