I glance at down at her. The way she chews on her lip tells me that she is mulling over whether to forgive me or not. I think back on the last week and all of our interactions together. It is my first time at the capital of New Berlin and she has been pretty good to me. I notice the look of petulance on her face and I can't help but smirk. Even that looks good on her.

"Really." I tell her quietly, complete honesty in my voice.

Kendal's expression softens, her lips slowly curving into a smile. Uncrossing her arms, she lets them fall to her side, then slides them behind her against the wall. "Alright.. but you're still an a**." she replies, the playful tone you have become so familiar with returning to her voice. Although there is no ding to signify your arrival, the two of you feel the elevator come to a gentle halt. As the doors swoosh open, any noise they might have made is suddenly masked by the pulsing music emanating from the club just on the other side of the threshold. "Come on" she tells you, smiling, "I'll show you how to get to the hotel."

I smile to myself, pleased that I got it right and she was happy with me again. "An a**, eh? I won't deny it." I shrug my shoulders with a grin. "Thanks. Your mistress said it wasn't far. You think they'll have open rooms? I know this place gets pretty busy." I ask her, following her out of the elevator and back into the club. I look around to see just what part of the club we emerge into, so I know where the elevators are for future reference.

"I think we should contact the Reverend."

Urban blinked faintly at the title mentioned... Mistress was never one of those strange, religious types. He spent a short moment scanning his memories of any of the clientelle that tended to head for the fourth floor of The Muse, trying to recall if there were any such folk... but after a moment, he acknowledged his failing with a shake of his head, that silvery gaze shifting back to Franky.

"...the Reverend?"

((For those of you curious, the style of music for the next scene can be closely compared to VNV Nation - Lightwave ^.^ ))

The music on the dance-floor was a living, breathing thing, fed by the sensations and reactions of the dancers ensnared in it's glowing, throbbing embrace, illuminated by the panels of screens covered by thin transperasteel beneath their feet, shadowed and mystified by the synchronized images flashing on the monitors along the walls. Between those three sides of existence, the mirrors on two of the other sides reflecting, and the shifting, strobing dance of the elaborate lighting system hidden within the walls, the view to the artist themself, the DJ, was seldom that clear. But this was no mistake... with four different posts, in each corner of the room, it made it much easier for one corner to fade out, and another to fade in.

But the transition that happened tonight... the last song of the current DJ reached it's climax, it's final triumphant scream, and began to fade... and as it faded, the lights, the mirrors, the screens, began to fade with it. The shadowy figure of the current DJ offered the crowd an eloquent bow from above his tables, and his "booth" slowly, smoothly, faded back into the corner. But the music did not stop... instead, it became a smooth, movement-inducing fall and rise of deep keyboard notes. The screens darkened, giving an almost space-like feel, reflected in both the mirrors and the lack of lighting... and from that darkness descended... a Machine.

The Machine gave off a faint mist, almost a smoke, as it slowly descended from the upper floors, it's various soft hisses and mechanical sounds giving clear warning to the dancers who'd claimed the very center of the dance-floor to move back... which they did, with mystified wonder. The Machine's appearance was mirrored in every sense of the word, for the screens making up three of the walls slowly shifted, enclosing the dance-floor in a multi-dimensional image that made it seem to the crowd that they were slowly being moved into the heart of some massive structure, like the living core of some advanced ship. The images on the screens mirrored the styling of the Machine... angular, cast in dark metals, heavily segmented... and often-shifting, for as the bottom of the Machine finally made contact with the dance-floor, deeply-hued lights began to pulse in time with the base beat, illuminating the mist almost like laser beams, shooting to the screens and mirrors and reflecting back.

Transformation. The music was beginning to pick up speed now, and the walls around the Machine began to shift as it did. Pylons and powerful generators began to shift out, each one being a reception point for lights that emminated from the Machine itself, the colours of the beams, as well as their width and strength, matching the tone of each note exquisitely, immersing the crowd in an all-encompassing visual world. Lights along the bottom of the balconies surrounding the dance-floor began to add their efforts as well, making the mist still radiating from the shifting surface of the Machine (which was transforming in a smaller, but still synchronized, fashion similar to the walls) seem alive with a dark, compelling energy.

As the climax of the song began to build, those not on the dance-floor itself began to notice that the power of the music seemed to be especially strong tonight in the vibrations radiating through the walls, through their feet... even though the music wasn't any louder. Instead, the contact point of the Machine with the floor served as a resonance board, allowing whatever vibration the Machine radiated downward to travel along the floor, and the walls. In the heart of the dance-floor, however... the faint lacing of a cosmetic drug in the mist simply helped enhance the feeling for the dancers that they were in the heart of some giant mechanical creature, the vibrations radiating through them as though they were simply flesh-made components of the grand machine encompassing them.

Triumphant scream. The music has finally reached the frantic climax that any truly good darkwave techno did, radiating itself into the very flesh and bones of the dancers in the heart of the Machine. More felt now than heard, the compulsion to release one's sense of self and allow one's movements to become an extension of the music was almost irresistible, and most of the creatures on that dance-floor did exactly that with joyful abandon. These were the trademarks of a few of The Muse's most prized musicians... the ability to transcend mere music, mere imagery, and take the audience to some place in existence that was impossible to reach on their own... a place that existed only in the enraptured mind.

As the music slowly began it's falloff, the images on the screens around the dance-floor slowly began to shift, the scenery within them changing gradually to a more distant, less encompassing view... almost as if the Machine that the dancers had been within was moving off. The vibrations faded, the lights slowly grew dimmer... the Machine still located in the middle of the dance-floor shifting it's surface, becoming more of an ebony-coloured monolith. The mist enshrouding the entirety of the dance-floor began to slowly dissipate, no longer being renewed by the Machine at the center. As the monolith in the middle finished it's transition, the crowd was finally freed from the illusion that had encompassed them by a subtle, but notable, shift in the music... transition from one song to the next. Clearly still of the same style and origin as the first song, it fit the club scene more easily... more conducive to a slightly more casual audience and dancer-corp... the dramatic entrance of the night's feature artist finished, and the crowd left to enjoy the rest of their creativity at their leisure...

{ - Francesca - }

"Oh come now, you remember the Reverend," Franky tells him as the elevator doors slide open to reveal the main club floor. "The carrot guy," she quips, glancing back at him with a smile before stepping out to find herself between the dance floor and the bar area. Franky's eyes are drawn to her left where the smoke and lights pouring out amidst the dancers reveal the mystifying performance of one of her most beloved DJs. Pausing there, she stays to watch the transition as the great machine descends upon the dancers. "We almost missed Iria..." she murmurs to Thorne, who she knows is close behind her.

Kendal weaves passed the regulars and heads to the bar, motioning Slade to follow her. "The Hotel is run by a family of Shadows." She tells him as they go. When she reaches the counter, Kendal picks a clear spot and hops over to the other side. The current bartender, not far from the two of you, glances over as settles behind the bar with a smirk and a shake of his head. Grabbing a drink napkin and a pen, she starts jotting down a map to the hotel. "They're decent enough people. In spite of that, we like them" she continues, offering you a smile. "Here you go. They're always open. The place might look a little worn, but it's very private. They even have like safe boxes and stuff for their customers." Laying the napkin on the counter, she slides it over to you. "So if you need a place to hide the bodies.." she grins, letting the sentence trail off without a conclusion.

The music shifts out on the dance floor, the darkening of the lights and industrial beat a sure sign that Iria was starting her show. Kendal motions in that direction to Slade. "This is our favorite DJ. She puts on an awesome performance. You should stick around and watch," she adds playfully, "Maybe even dance."

"Hide the bodies, huh?"
I joke as I take the napkin she is sliding towards me. "You speaking from personal experience on this one, Kendal?" Looking over the crudely drawn map, I retrace my earlier wanderings in the city in my head, wondering if I've passed the place before. I look out at the giant machine that comes down from the ceiling of the dance floor. "Nah, I don't dance." I tell her, "But I do think I'm going to grab a smoke. I hate official meetings. You want to come outside with me?" I ask her, my hand rifling into my pocket for my pack of Kreteks.

"Oy, no thanks hun." Kendal replies, hopping over to the club side of the bar again. "You see all of those fine, tight bodies out there, shuffling up against eachother, skin rubbing against skin?" She raises a hand to motion to the dance floor, giving you a cheshire grin. "You might not have a pulse Monsieur," the title coming out playfully teasing, "but I do". With that she taps a finger to his nose and sashays passed him, making her way to join the intoxicated victims that have fallen prey to the Machine.

Emily Kane-Living Doll

The whole sensation of the music astounded Emily. Her legs were shaking slightly as she continued to move her body. Music had not been an interest of hers until now. Her body moved, the music made her feel, her whole body trmebled. It was the bass in the music that excited her the most. Big 'booms' behind the actual music. Suprises around every new twist and turn. She was now seating, but did not care. Her body moved freely, and she liked it. She now really wished she had been laced by Kei. Every curve she made would have tugged and pulled. She wished Kei was there with her.

Making her way to the dancers, Kendal slithers and slides her way in amongst them. As Iria's masterpiece surrounds and embraces her, she allows herself to be completely submerged. She revels in the feel of the other dancers pressing against her. Sometimes she closes her eyes, losing herself in the feeling, while other times she scans through the crowd of bodies, appreciating the intoxication she finds painted on their faces. Amidst the heat and the chaos, suddenly Kendal feels the brush of something stone cold on her skin. Kendal's eyes flutter open and she looks for the source of the unexpected chill. Somehow her movements along the floor have brought her up against someone new. Kendal examines the girl closely. Dark hair, a very doll-like face, pale skin. Hmm.. least she's cute. Kendal thinks to herself with a smile as she edges her body closer to the girl.

I smirk and scrunch my nose when she taps me. Watching her swagger off into the crowd, that old song from Eartha Kitt comes to my mind. I want to be evil, heh, yeah that's Kendal all over. Shaking my head in amusement, I pull out my pack of Kreteks and head to the exit. I offer a nod to the bouncers, who glare at me suspiciously, then stroll into the cool evening air. As I light up my f**, I rummage through my coat to find that napkin. Checking the map, I look around the street to see about which direction I'm supposed to head. f** in my mouth, I turn up my collar on my long, beat up duster and point out a particular street. That a way.

Emily Kane-Living Doll

Emily continues dancing and eyes the pretty redhead as she brushes against her. A smile appears on Emily's face. As the girls body moves closer Emily cooperates and moves closer to her as well. She was now facing the girl, their bodies touching at the waist. Emily continues moving with music, glad to have someone with her now. The heat was intense, but Emily's pleasure was even more elevated.

Kendal's eyes glisten with wickedness as the girl responds favorably to her attentions. She brings a hand up to press against the small of the girl's back, letting her other arm hang loose at her side. After spending a few tantilizing minutes in this position, Kendal decides to try something different. The hand that is cupping your back slides to your side, her other hand coming up to entwine her fingers with yours. Drawing your hand up over your head, she turns you so that your back is facing her. Now she uses the hand on your side to pull you back against her, and she curls the hand that is still holding yours around to your chest. Keeping your body against hers, she twists and writhes to the music.
