Okay. I will agree with most of it. Character Profile and chatterbox threads will be the only threads that do not have to follow this rule.

Though we have to remember those members who want there pictures long over tall.

seems fair enough

I touched on this before and it was shot down but I feel the need to bring it up again...

Can we please put a size cap on the pictures used in RPs? I was catching up on posts made in the teacher auctions and this was my screen at two points. It's all picture for a single line of text. Shot 1 Shot 2. It's also not because I have a small screen or low resolution. I have a 21'' screen with 1680x1050 resolution.

If people absolutely have to have a picture in their posts because no one can remember what they look like, then use the images provided in the Directory. Their 140x170 images that are recognizable as the characters they label. Even ones not as bad as the ones above hinder RPing. Every additional image pasted into a thread make the thread take that much longer to load. I'm also going to continue to host the Directory images so you can direct link to them and not use up space in your own image sharing accounts.

Can we start putting this rule into effect or is it in the best interests of the Guild to not?

I'll have to agree that the pictures don't need to be huge and that the chatterbox and profiles will of course be left out of that rule change. The chatterbox is for fun and the profiles are something that I want to be kept personal and fun for the RPer.
I use my image for for decoration and to help me think of ways to make the post longer ((If you watch me. On some post I do it a little short. It's a bad habit)). I agree that I need to work on some of my images. And I'm on of those who knows how. But what about those who don't. I'm saying I'm against this rule, but, I am saying we have to think about what we would do if it happened, because, I will not boot someone from the guild because they can't make an image smaller ((It would be on several warnings and them being told what to do more than once)). As a guild we need one or more people to volunteer to help with that ((The more there is the less work someone will have to do))

I oly consider this rule to apply in RolePlay threads (so yes, chatter box, profiles, and all other OOC things are open territory). On the topic of the people who don't know how to alter their images, that's why I said to just use the ones provided in the Student Directory. The images are clear and small and don't take up more space than the average post does. Also, Photobucket has lots of tools now to changing images including a nifty resize option.

Also, lots of RPers use decorations in their posts, whether it be images or additional text (like song lyrics or things about their characters) but it doesn't have to be the highlight of your post. I mean this next bit to be helpful so please don't think me rude, but if you want to use the images for inspiration, couldn't you still take it out before you post? Leave it in while you preview and edit, but then a quite delete before it goes live. Just a thought smile

@Lili : I hadn't even thought of people posting from their phones o_o

Lol, I was on the profile for Dracula (RP'd by PrinceVampD) and I thought the icons he was using for his relationships with other characters were cool so I went to quote the post to get the urls for them. They were all from a Photobucket account for YoshiMage so I thought maybe they were incognito. My mistake sweatdrop

Yoshimage was once my mule who I gave to Bree_and_elle (who just wanted to try gaia out) Then it became both of our mule when she got her own account. Vamp was in a guild with us before this one.

I'm not sure if someone asked but do we just post the profiles in the thread or send them to someone. (i read the rules at like 1 in the morning so I don't remember that that well or if it was clear)

Just post it. If there is a problem I or a member who has been here a while will probably give you a heads up.

Question: It seems like many characters talk about or are from places on Earth, Like Ulf and Hitzig are from Germany and so on. I understand that Reed's is in a 'bubble' which protects and shields them from the outside world so it could very well be on Earth, and if the Western Lands, Capital City, and Order Island are the same then I understand that too.

The question comes with reference to language. It seems like all characters speak English, however, being magical creatures, they generally don't know English but rather Common. So, is it appropriate to assume that all humans and creatures know/understand Common rather than English? Like, human characters know English but on campus they speak Common so that they can communicate with all matter of life. Same with Elves or Pixies or Wolves, rather than speaking their native tongues know/speak Common.

So is that a correct assumption or no? I realize the question itself is just nit-picky and bears no real weight on the effectiveness or flow of the role play. I'm just curious and into waaaaay too much detail heart

I see where you are going with this. Well there are few characters that are bilingual or mentioned they have the ability to speak several several different languages. I think it really deals more with who they are talking too. Like Haikimaru and Mitsuko speak in Japanese to each other (Though we use English more the Japanese words and express that they do speak to each other that way). I think it really deals with the people rping with each other. I could see Lillie cursing at Len in Elvish.

Right. I guess I mean, when we're all talking in RP, we are all speaking Common rather than English unless otherwise noted like Mitsuko and Haikimaru do.
