My dad used to play trumpet when he was in school, so I figured "why not?" and tried it out. Three plus years later, I haven't switched to another instrument in band and am still loving the trumpet biggrin

In a weird way, I didn't. Every kid that goes to our middle school goes to a little seminar and the band director has them try certain instruments. Then, if they're best on a certain instrument, they have to play that instrument for all three years of middle school. Kind of rough, but eh...I knew two people who wanted to play flute, but got slotted to play clarinet.

Before I joined I had no idea what instrument I wanted to play. My mom told me that my aunt had a clarinet and that she used to have a flute. I didn't want to play flute because they told us something about "flute lips" or some bs like that so I picked clarinet. I've been pleased with my choice since then.

I dunno really.
When I was little, I'd always wanted to play the trumpet.
But then when it came time to choose, the flute just kinda called to me.
Like, "CHOOSE ME OR REGRET IT FOREVER."

In fifth grade the band teacher had us all try out different instruments and gave us ratings on how well we did. I got a 10 on flute, clarinet, saxophone, and tuba. I got a 9 on trumpet, horn, and trombone.
I wanted trumpet but I only got 9/10 so I picked flute instead. Then in fifth grade I moved to alto sax and in 8th grade to tenor sax. That's where I am now. =]

I play the flute ever since 4th grade and i just chose it for the heck of it. I just thought it would be really cool to play an instument in general. Band is awesome!!!!! Later on in the year our band is going to the bahamas for a competition!!!!!!

I wanted to play trombone but got mixed up on the names and wrote down trumpet... alas, 7 years later, still here with the trumpet. I'm glad I did pick it though, i love the hell out of my trumpet :}

First I wanted to play flute....but we had too many flute players so I decided to play clarinet....to many clarinet players...then I wanted to play trumpet....I thought I was lucky....BUT NO!!! SOMEONE HAD TO TAKE THE LAST TRUMPET SPOT!!!!!! Grrr..... So...I heard the BD say "Does any of the girls want to play alto???" I thought "Why not." and tried it.
And from that day on...I always play the saxophone. smile

I play horn but I didn't have the option until my junior year of high school, I played flute before, but Im sooooo glad I had the chance, it was my first brass instrument and I love it sooooooooo much ^^
