(( Beach Bar / Sand n' Stuff ))

As Josh sat down at the bar, a low whistle could be heard from the shorter and greener of the bartenders - short as she was, she could still make out the large kite that was being assembled in the distance. "Holy crap, that thing is huge!" she couldn't help but gush slightly. A bit of jealousy was clear in her face. Why hadn't she thought of kite flying?! The party would have been just that much more fun with some battle kites blocking people's sun...

The minty Frei didn't have to wait very long. Soon enough the eagle girl had drifted over to where he was hovering, one of her hands at the side of her face to keep her massive locks of hair from obscuring her vision. Her expression and demeanor were welcoming, bright and playful when she approached Eiry by pointing out the obvious: "You are green..." It reminded her somewhat of her guardian, really. "...Green is very nice." And the way she articulated it made it seem as if she thought it was one of the best colors in the world.

Kale took the notion to take the kite pleasantly and took it feeling a sudden jerk on his posture. After the jerk somewhat frightened by it he forced the kite back into Kumoru's hands and bowed slightly. "S-sorry I've never f-flown a kite before. Kale's m=my name by the w-way.." he reacted nervously to him. Looking up at the kite he stared for a second in awe of the monstrous size before returning his gaze back down to eye level. "W-what all can you do with it?" he asked figuring Kumoru was an expert with it almost instantly.

He had made a fool out of himself. One. He couldn't fly a kite at all. Two. He almost let it go. As his skin seemed to grow even more pale he tried to hide it by lowering his gaze. He felt inferior to just about anyone here. The Reavens and the people.

Someone else joined him, and Kumoru turned to face the one who introduced himself as Zayne. He shaded his eyes with one hand and bowed to him as well, then took his sunglasses from where they rested on top of his head to put them on.

"Nice to meet you," he replied. "I'm Kumoru-" The necromancer stopped abruptly as he felt the wind tug on the kite, and Kale handed it back to him at the same moment.

"Don't worry about it," he assured the rather nervous young man, as he looked down his nose at him from behind his sunglasses. "Always a first time to fly a kite. The wind is a little strong today, though. Once we get it into the air, If Zayne wants to take over for a moment, I can try to do something about the wind for you."

As for what he could do with the kite.... "I'm not really sure how much I remember in terms of tricks, since it's been a while," Kumoru admitted. "But I'll see what I can remember." Wind magic had been a big part of his kite-flying in the past, and he certainly remembered the spells. Hopefully getting the hand motions of the kite in sync with the words of the magic was something like riding a bike - he could just jump back on again and do it even after these last few years and do just fine.

"A-alright" said Kale taking a nervous glance to Zayne who was behind Kumoru. Looking into the air again at the kite he studied it. Kale was never good with magic, the only thing was going through objects. Being dead had a part in that though obviously. Shivering slightly he jumped suddenly and for no reason. The jitter didn't seem to catch anyone's eye really, so calming down he watched the kite again, finding some way to keep himself entertained. "H-how did you make it?"

Jae let out a huge grin as Alex slinked her arm, determined to tote her around. She gave a cheerful nod at the person in front of her, "It's nice to meet you!!"

Mindful of the company around them, she turned briefly to Chloe. "It's good to see you again Miss Ch---MMMPHFFFLGELE!!?!?!?!?!!!!!!!"

Her greeting was cut short by a rather hyper and excited fox-fish chimera appearing out of nowhere and happily attaching itself to the side of her face. Apparently, Mana had launced itself with such force that he nearly knocked Jae over. She struggled with him for a bit, while he squealed and chirped at the sight of the ocean. Sadly, she couldn't manage to get a grip on the slippery little critter, and it wasn't until Jun finally managed to catch up that they were able to return him to his bowl. Of course, the chimera refused to stay put and it wasn't long before Jun was chasing after it again.

Finally getting a chance to catch her breath, she turned to Chloe, her face more apologetic than ever, once more. "I-it's good to see you again Miss Chloe!! Roux--" a pause for more oxygen intake, "looks wonderful!"

In the meantime, Mana had somehow made it's way to the Bar, zinging around like an ADHD-prone child on a sugar high. It really was almost pitiful to see Jun running around after the excited fox-fish. Nearly crashing into the bar and almost dropping the tank (which was half-spilt at this point) the most he could do was plead for help. "SOMEBODY STOP THAT THING!!"

Niksia was fascinated by the kite, not that she was going to admit to never having flown one. She finished her drink and put the glass back on the bar so it wouldn't get knocked over or broken. Absent-mindedly she took a scrap of cloth from her skirt pocket and used it to tie her mass of red hair away from her neck. Stepping out from the cover of the bar while she did, Niksia squinted in the bright light and shielded her eyes once she was done trying to control her hair.

'Is that hard to do?' She gave the nervous young man an understanding glance as she asked Kumoru, the thought of handling a kite that size didn't exactly fill Niksia with joy either.

The trailing scarf was wound over her pale shoulders, tucked carefully under her chin by distracted hands. A craning neck and narrowed eyes showed she was really more interested in what was likely to happen soon.

There was a faint call, a twitter of awe that breezed past Josh's ear and caught his attention. The boy’s head swiveled back and threatened to snap off his neck before he allowed the rest of his body to follow and face the source of the noise. Josh peered over the counter of the bar only to be confronted by a mop of green hair.

He jumped a bit in his seat at the squeak of a voice that came from the bobbing head. The boy stared at the brilliant locks for a few more seconds before focusing on the face attached. He snorted softly at her remark and chimed in agreement, “Yep, I swear that thing could kill a person if the wind picked up a little more.” He locked eyes with the woman’s petite features and smirked, “I’m Josh and you are?”

Another sweet smile took her features as she watched Isi and Eiry, nodding to the young boy. "I'm happy to see all my friends, yes," she agreed in part, "and what better place than the beach? It's warm, so far. Oh! Have you seen Roux? He looks lovely." Alex was going to say something to the Raevan, but paused as his interest seemed to be elsewhere. He was awfully cute, but she'd have to wait to speak with him another time, if such a time came to be.

"I'm glad you're well, Isi. We'll just stick to having a good day today, no matter what." That was her polite way of informing him she'd ask no questions beyond her inquiry to his well being.

She glanced over her shoulder as someone asked for help, distracted as a kite blocked her view. Peering skybound for a bit, she smiled - she hadn't seen kites since she was a child - and looked back to the owner. Oh, she knew that face too! Alex cried out, "Hi, Kumoru!" waving at the long-haired man. The woman gave a cursory glance for his son and, not seeing him anywhere, decided to sit down for a moment and soak up the time with her friends while she could.

"So, despite facesuckers," Alex blinked as something attached itself to her friend's face and took off just as quickly, "how've you been, Jae?"

"Nice to meet you, I'm Mouse," the girl replied, fluffing the hair that had captured so much notice in the first place. Her mouth opened with the intent of saying something else or asking another question, but she was interrupted by someone crying for help and a small blob of sea-green careening through the beach bar.

So instead of continuing a pleasant conversation, she said "Just a sec." and vaulted over the table to the other side, landing a bit shakily on her feet in front of the chimera that had caused the sudden little commotion. Her hands dashed out at the foxfish with the intent of grabbing it by its leg-fins and lifting it off the ground. "Not so fast, buddy!"

Kumoru started leading those interested in the kite downwind, away from the Beach Bar a little further, so he would be less likely to hit someone, or the building, and so he had enough room to back up with the kite. "It's a little tough at first, with two hands, but it gets easier. It's the tricks that are tougher."

He heard his name being shouted, and so the necromancer turned briefly to glance back over his shoulder. Spotting Alex, he smiled and nodded to her, as his hands were occupied with the kite for the moment. He had not seen her in quite some time; Kumoru figured he would have to talk to her later, once the kite had lost its novelty.

"Okay," he said, stopping when they were some distance down the sand away from the bar. "If someone wants to just take the kite downwind until the control lines are straight, all you should have to do in this wind is give it a little toss and it'll take off." Kumoru fiddled with his grip on the control line handles a bit, expecting quite a tug when the kite took off. "Make sure the front point faces upwards." Even with his hair tied back, it was still blowing around quite a bit, and he tossed his head a little to get his long black ponytail out of his face.

Zayne had done quite a few things in his life... but kite flying was definitely not one of them. From what he would remember, at least. "Er... sure, I would like to try to fly a kite... er, h-how do you do it? " He asked, blush tinting his cheeks. Everyone around him seemed to know how to fly a kite except him, so he felt rather unsure about asking.
Looking around, he saw a bunch of new faces that had joined the kite-flying party; he decided in his head to make sure to meet them properly later on.

Yuurei looked over at Lucia who was standing with the other raevans and gestured her over. "Did that pretty blond raevan give you that drink?"

Lucia nodded, a smile on her lips as she drank the virgin coolada and placed the empty glass on the bar. She combed her fingers through her long black hair, trying to make sure that everything was in place. "Do you recognize anyone?" Yuurei asked her young raevan. "How about Chloe . . . Roux . . . or Dr. Kyou?"

Chris thanked the bartender and gave her the money to pay for the drinks. Giving the other glass of water to Cierra, Chris began to sip from her own glass. Even though she was still blushing a bit from her worry about perverts, she was relieved that her hunch about the lab and raevans and the fundraiser had been right, and that she hadn't seemed like an idiot. Unsure of whether to really start talking to anyone yet, she looked over at Cierra to see how she was doing.

Cierra was sipping at her water as she gazed off to the ocean. To Chris's surprise, Cierra was lacking the "pissed of at the world" expression that she usually wore in public. In fact, Cierra seemed more relaxed than she had ever seen her before. But the expression on her face when she stared at the ocean was.... odd.

It's almost as if she's staring at a long lost home that is greatly loved.... Chris thought. Wait, where did that thought come from? Goose bumps rippled up her arms as she realized how she knew this. When she stared at the ocean, she had the exact same feeling.

The eerie moment was abruptly interrupted by a green shape looking like a cross between a fox and a fish barreling through the area before being pursued by the green haired bartender. Chris blinked a few times, a bit dazed. I think I just saw another product of the lab....

Watching with a sad smile of sympathy, Jae was almost too amused at the sight of her boyfriend running after Mana. But---was he wearing what she thought she had seen him wearing!?!?

WHERE THE HELL DID HE GET TYE-DYE PLAID SWIM TRUNKS?!?!

Fortunately, Alex snapped her attention back to topics of the saner variety.

"Haha, all facesuckers aside, I've been good! Changed majors recently over at the University....but what about you?! It feels like I haven't seen you in forever!!"

--

Mana squinted at the opponent as his leg-fins were latched upon. Without a moment's hesitation, it did the one thing it thought to do--look up bashfully at the opponent while pretending he was about to burst into tears. He had a target in mind, oh yes he did!! There was something over here somewhere that had fins just like Mana did. He was convinced that it was an estranged family relation of some kind. It had to be.

Jun, in the meantime, had used the resources available to him to obtain a make-shift lid for the bowl. Moving carefully, he informed his newfound-ally of the plan of attack.

"Watch your fingers, miss. I'm going in for him shortly!"

((ooc/edit - Object with fins in question would be one Sevilin~))

Josh’s arrogant smile quickly faltered as a blur of blue-green swept past his legs. The boy jumped a bit off of his bar stool and followed the energetic blur with his eyes. He heard a rattle of voices then the surface beside him creaked as weight was forced upon it. Josh looked up and nearly yelped. His face contorted into complete fear as a small body careened past him and feel to the floor with a resounding ‘plop’. He wobbled in his chair and would’ve fallen to the ground if he hadn’t shot out a lanky arm to cling onto the bar counter. Josh stuttered shakily, “Y-you go ahead and do that then…”

He looked at the foxfish in Mouse’s grasp and his mouth fell open in awe. Another one of the Lab’s experiments? Those seemed like the only things that could cause such a ruckus. “Hey there… little fishy.” Josh blinked curiously at the small creature and the man who had just seemingly appeared.
