Vlad left the room moving into the main living area of the temple. It was obvious that this area was to house alot of different races. There were chairs, piles of pillows and other such things.
The coon moved ot one of the large couches and sighed. "Thank you for being so kind to him...things have...been hard for us both." He offer the angel the spot beside him.

Perhaps to an outsider to this sort of living arrangement, the room would have seemed messy, unkempt, or thrown together, but to one like the angel, it seemed more like home, a gathering place for many anthros. A faint smile touched his face as Valentino looked around this living room Vladmir led him into, and he did not hesitate in sitting down next to the coon.
"Don't mention it," Val smiled in response to Vlad's words of thanks. "I seem to have an affinity with kids." He glanced away for a moment, a shadow passing over his face for a moment before it disappeared. Looking back at the other, he nodded. "Unless it is all a clever deception, you two seem to be 'holding it together,' as the saying goes, just fine. Although it seems to me that you both have indeed had it rough. It shows in your eyes if nothing else," he said quietly.

Vlad nodded and relaxed against arm of the couch. He looked at Val and smiled. "I guess we are 'holding it together' as much as we can. The owner of this temple is very kind, and she...helps us the best she can. However it is rather dangerous for Ramos here, there are alot of angery man in this temple, and many vould like to take that anger out on the innocence of my brother.." He sighed and shook his head.
"The fact is, Ramos is lucky that he is still an innocent after living on the streets.." He sighed. I love him dearly..." He smiled and looked at Val. "I'm glad you like kids as you do..."

Val nodded as he listened, altering his position to face Vlad and so that his wings had more room behind him. He winced at the mention of Ramos growing up on the streets; it was a terrible lifestyle for anyone and worse for children. Frowning, he said softly, "It must be difficult keeping him safe, even here." He watched Vlad curiously for a moment, not sure what he meant by his last comment, if anything. Then he remembered Ramos' comment about Vlad smiling, which made the angel in turn smile.

"It is...though perhaps not as difficult as it could be." He sighed and let his eyes move to look at the angel's wings. "Ramos likes you...it's hard for him to trust anyone...even me at times.." He looked down at his hands he recalled moments where those claws had been stained with blood, loads of blood, none of it his own.

Val watched Vlad's movements, particularly how he looked down at his hands. He thought he could guess along what lines the other might be thinking, especially after seeing how he handled that gun earlier. Here was this young man who had raised, or at least helped to raise, his younger brother. They obviously loved one another, but the boy could not trust his elder. Was it fear? It made him think of the problem he currently faced with Nyoko. There was no denying the other's fear. But unlike Vladmir and Ramos who had no choice and who had no one to trust but eachother, Nyoko had a large family to fall back on. He was a burden, and would continue to be, in all facets of his life... He sighed quietly. "Perhaps he was deceived. I look like I should be harmless, even with my arm the way it is."

Vlad looked at the other and shrugged. "Some vould say that I look harmless as well, but trust me, my brother has seen the damage I can cause." He looked at Val's claw, it was a lovely thing, even though he knew it was dangerous as well. "Ramos is very good at knowing who he can and cannot trust...He trusts you."

The metal clawed hand clenched tightly and gleamed half-heartedly as his thoughts ran dark. Had the child missed all the dings and scratches that for all his care could not be erased from its originally smooth surface? Did he know that this was used as much in battle as it was used in, say, the kitchen? Vlad he knew without even looking understood. He did glance back up at the coon though, asking, "And you?"

The coon was caught off guard by the queston he looked at the other, trying to read him like he could so many others. "I do not know what to think about you Val, I will admit that...I see death in your eyes...I can smell it on you as well, but I also see regret..." He looked at he long ebony hair, his eyes, his wings. Eventually the coon had to turn away, what the hell was he doing?

Val stared at the other unmovingly for a few seconds; this was not what he had expected. Yes, he was curious if Vlad felt the same, he was certainly trusting enough to introduce Val to his brother, but he had also been wondering about Ramos and his level of trust for Vlad. "Hm... I've had much time to think about my past. Perhaps too much time," he sighed.

"It is allways when we think of the past, that it becomes painful." he sighed and rose from the couch. He moved about the room, his body needing to move. "I regret...but that does not change what I've done.." He moved over to one of the large open arches that the living room offered them. He leaned on one of the pillars. "Looking at you...I do not see that need to kill in you...there's a calm to you..."

The angel nodded in agreement and watched as the coon rose and began to pace the room. "I don't carry anymore," he stated matter-of-factly. "At least, not under normal circumstances. I practice just in case, but would prefer not to kill. I was once a hired gun," he said quietly, "for the same people who gave me this." Val looked down at his metal arm and scrutinized it for a moment. "I've had enough of all that."

"You can never really stop being what you are, Val" He sighed and rested his head back against the pillar, his eyes closing. "I've tried..." The coon let out a long low sigh. "No matter what...your past comes back to haunt you...it rears it's head and never dies..no matter how much you wish you could bury it."

Val's eyes slid shut. "Yes." This word did not encompass what he was thinking. In fact, Vlad was only confirming what he himself had come to realize must be true. It spelled out a bleak future for himself and anyone he became close to, for reasons the coon would not realize. "I know... I am however no longer in their service."

Vlad nodded and unstodd the response. "Yes...as I am no longer in the service of my former government.." He moved from the pole, moving back over to the couch. "Creatures of habit, we take anger and we kill without thinking..." He slid down onto the couch, his eyes closing as he sighed.
