From the corner of his eye Kane saw Shisei's teammate and felt a small sense of relief. At least that kid wasn't done yet. But he was here to get a pearl, and not check the competition out. He should have done that ages ago, but admittedly ages ago this person had not been half naked. But it appeared that he was taken... or was he? Kane had heard Orika's angry yell after all.
Shaking his head, Kane plunged his free hand into the sand and grabbed a handful of sand, beginning to sieve blindly. Why not get started? He then remembered that he'd already looked through this area and it was plausible to switch places again. He'd have to make sure not to revisit areas previously looted... or, should he? There should be oysters that people missed that got buried by the sands, after all... where one oyster was was where its friends would be.

Karite saw the only single thing he wanted right now. A pearl sitting perfectly on the tongue of some giant shell. Perfect, but there was something he just couldn't remember about this animal. He couldn't place his finger on it. Swimming down the boy knelt on the bottom of the water. Reaching in with his left hand the boy touched the pearl and soon the shelled creature snapped down on his harm cutting the skin. Almost yelling the boy held himself back as to not lose anymore air. He remembered just what he was looking at now. The bear trap of the deep. Also known as an oyster. The damn thing was digging into his arm and all he really wanted was the damn pearl so he could make a necklace for Orika. Something always had to go wrong on the homestretch didnt it?

Moving back to where he had spotted that first, easy, big oyster, Kane began to dig. One oyster and one pearl in his other hand made his job awkward, but he managed somehow. He continued in his system of sieving the sand, hoping to find something good. Most of the time though, he ended up sieving some prawns or crabs or even tiny fish through his fingers, though. It was obvious that he was running out of time and so he'd have to put his all into it. Again, Kane wondered where Shisei was and if he'd made his way down. Ball throwing and catching Kane was confident he could do easy.
Remembering that Maya had put the pearls in her mouth, Kane was forced to admit her logic. Pausing in his digging, he dropped one pearl into his mouth, under his tongue to logically protect it, and quickly opened the other oyster with the help of a conveniently-lying around sharp rock. Once that pearl was in his mouth Kane resumed digging, now with two hands free.

Why didn't he do this earlier? This really was so much better. Well, another lesson amongst the many that Kane had learned today was that you could always learn something from your peers. This way was a little ick and uncomfortable, but hey, it worked. It wasn't like the pearls were poisonous... he'd survive two pearls in his mouth. Anyway, it turned out that Kane's earlier deduction had been correct. Within a few seconds of digging, he had successfully unearthed his oyster's friend. Feeling slightly sorry for what he had to do due to his personification of these creatures, Kane popped open the oyster easily and collected the pearl before returning to the surface. He hoped Shisei would be waiting for him. He wanted to finish this quickly.
Oh... and he hoped that someone had the sense to take all their stuff down. But he realised that he would probably have to retrieve all that stuff himself. Taking in a deep breath of air, he clambered out of the pool onto land. It was getting cold, and Kane knew what hypothermia could do, so he took off his shirt and wrung it tightly, looking around for Shisei in the meantime.

Karite began to bang on the the shell with all his force but the water was putting some intense drag on his fist and he barely doing any damage. He had to find another way of ending this or it was all over for him. There was something he was missing about this creature. Karite couldn't let go of the pearl. Orika would look beautiful with these around her neck and his inspiration was her. There had to be some way for him to get this damn thing to open its mouth. He would find it he wouldn't lose to anyone. Never again would he lose if he could help it. No matter the odds stacked against him he would win.

Karite looked around in the water and only saw darkness. He was fighting now it was all he could manage to do. going back to his method he began smashing the beast again punching as hard as he could. There wasn't much else he could do. There was nothing around him so he was going to have to keep fighting there was not enough time to look for another pearl. He estimated he had about two to three minutes before his vision started getting blurry and he ended u dieing at the bottom of this lagoon. That was not where his journey would end, besides Orika would kill him if he ended up dieing. God have no wrath like a women scorned.

Karite could feel the air escaping out of his eye sockets. He couldn't stop smashing into this shell. It was the last thing he wanted to do. His hand was starting to hurt and he was beginning to wonder if he was going to survive he was going to have to think quick. What did he know about this creature that could help him solve this problem. He couldn't remember maybe the lack of oxygen to his brain was stopping him from remembering. Yet if he was going to win and make Orika a necklace he was going to have to get his damn arm out of this things mouth.

Karite finally remembered something from school that came in handy. He stuck his feet into the slit where his arm was sticking out of. Grabbing the upper rim of the shell Karite pushed with all the strength he could muster enough just to get his arm out. As he pulled out his arm he yanked up and humped off the shell quickly to the surface. Breaking the silence of the water he gasped for air as he looked out to see Maya and Orika doing the next challenge together. What was going on? It seemed at every turn Orika was running away from him today. That thought would have to wait. "Kore! We got a competition to win!"

Shisei continued to peer down at the competition and his partner. The two had also finish gathering the pearls. About the same Orika decided to also jump into lagoon. A not as graceful, but still decent fall. The gold stars never fading while he shook and nodded his head in approval or disapproval to any of Brassa’s questions. Orika had come back out from the pool and the snake child was slightly curious as to what happened to the teamwork between her and Karite. “And they say I can’t work with people…”. Even with all that youth energy and power the rabbit seemed to be the most unrefined within the competition. His weird talking acquaintance pointed out that Maya had returned to land first with the peers. Staring at the girl Shisei’s mind began to ponder back about Xyn. Maybe he did not join, because of the crowd. Or could it be some type of physical deficiency. Either way, the fact that he did not appear would be an ace the hole for a later time. Shisei began to walk down the path to his partner.
Nosy to know what the serpent child was thinking Brassa, began to ask question so he can get an update on what was happening in the competition. Shisei was busy studying something with his eyes, but freckle face was sure the boy would give him some type of answer. His slightly taller body leaned against the snake as if was some type of outpost. The reaction was a small growl, but the loner didn’t let his eyes leave the competition. Seeing that Shisei was not about to hurl him off he decided to start his inquiry. “So.. who’s your partner? Is it Orika-chan? She’s so full of beans, that would make her a good partner. It truly would.” he asked pointing to the tanned figure who just went over the side. The snake just shook his head in disapproval. His mouth questioned the sun colored haired boy’s choice of words. “Full of beans?” the pale boy said back unsure of the meaning. Brassa stepped in front of him about to use his arms to help interpret the phrase. “Yea ya know. Don’t ya? Full of beans. It means bursting from the seams with energy. Like a glass of water that’s just overflowing with vigor and oomph!” he said with a smile and shaking the serpent slightly as if to awaken his inborn energy.” This only caused Shisei to push him to the side so he could continue his people studying. The homeless boy scratched the back of his head and continued to speak with him. “Well I hope you didn’t decide to partner up with some nancy boy now. I justly hope so.”
When Maya stepped out of the water, the taupe eyes of fruit lover almost bulged out. What a nice body. “Hey Shisei-kun. Do you know that girl over there? She’s quite the fit bird. No doubt she is.” The boy whispered. The gold eyes turned to Maya, although for other reasons than Brassa’s wandering eyes. As the sly serpent walked the kind boy continued by his side.
Scoping Out the Competition
While the others play Shisei will stay. For future purposes, it will be good to see just how well everyone does in these competitions.

As Brassa and his surly friend came closer to the rest of the contestants he was a bit disappointed. His bottom curved and his eyes squinted slightly. “I think you had bad judgment this time Shisei-kun. Undoubtedly I feel so. I’m not saying that you should take advantage and pair up with one of the dames, but your partner looks like a Nancy boy. He really does. Are you in an apprenticeship with him? Is he fagging you? Is that the relationship. It probably is.” Before the youth could continue he had to swiftly make three steps back. Apparently little snake did not take his words very kindly. He looked at him with a very unfriendly glare. Brass quickly put both hands out in front of him ready to defend himself, but hoping it did not come to that point. “Whoa whoa! It’s not what you’re thinking! Really it isn’t! I forgot it’s not the same meaning as from where I came from. So don’t nark on me. Truly don’t. We’re chums after all. Indeed we are. I’ll go on ahead and introduce myself to your partner. Then introduce me to big sis over there.” The boy haggard clothing made his way up to the blonde. And putting out his hand for a greeting. Even if this teen was playing for the wrong team, so to speak, there was no reason not to be friends with him. After all Shisei-kun did pick him as partner. “Salutations! You look a little cold. Certainly you do. I think you and Shisei-kun are doing well though. Make sure you guys win.” the boy stated to the wet blonde holding out his palm and giving off his cheerful, one tooth missing smile.
As Shisei came closer to his partner in these games, Brassa did bring up a point. When compared to warrior Tategami he had shown nothing special. The serpent still could not adjust to find any of his talents. If the Yamanaka pretty boy had nothing to offer then this team would be abolished after the competition. Well he could always teach him to swim. The serpent once again hoped he knew jutsu or that he would redeem himself in the next competition. His mind was brought to a halt with vagrant boy’s incessant chatter. Chatter that he snake could not make much sense of since he was using terms he never heard of. With a glare that sent the orange hair child back a few steps. “Speak correctly. I don’t understand and it’s irritating me. Who is this ‘Nancy boy’ and what is this ‘fagging’?” As Brassa tried to explain himself Shisei just shook his head. “Just walk on ahead.”. As the boy greeted himself to Kane, the serpent youth turned to see the new alliance of the farm girl and amazoness. That might be a hard team to beat. He and Kane better get started quickly. “Kane-sempai, we might be falling behind. Let’s begin the next task.” the Orochi survivor stated walking up to his partner.

As fun as checking out the competition was and probably a lot more fun for Brassa to watch to females wet and half naked, other things were important to Shisei. That was winning. And the odds were stacked against him this time. Two powerhouses on the same team meant trouble, but it could also be used to his advantage. For once, and perhaps only for this type of competition, Maya seemed too strong, making it hard for Orika to catch. He and Kane could probably win this then, that is depending on Kane’s ability in catching. The serpent was sure he could catch, but would his blonde male model be able to do the same. Only one way to find out. Pushing aside the boy of different vernacular, who in turn stuck his tongue at Shisei but gave him a thumbs up after, the serpent youth picked up a ball and positioned himself in front of the blue eyed genin. “Kane-sempai. Get ready. It’s coming.”. With that Shisei launched the ball.

Serena walked slowly ahead towards the sound of the water. The lagoon felt so..fresh! It was just the thing she needed to get herself fully awakened. Before she knew it though, a competition had started and there were splashing noises up front. The Raiken picked up her speed and made her way towards the area where it was all taking place. "Ohh, I missed the first part of the race! But then again.." She wasn't too sad about skipping the cliffdiving, for that was something that she could not do at such an early time unless forced..the pearl hunting seemed kind of fun, though. Well, it seemed like Shisei's team was in the lead..he and a genin were about about to start the ball toss. Maya and Orika were tied with them, too. "Come on, Karite, you can do it!" She spotted him coming out of the water, the last one to finish hunting for pearls. Serena stood in the area where they had jumped off of the cliff and watched the competition continue.
As everyone raced on, Serena began to feel the urge to jump down and join them. If everyone else could do it, why couldn't she? Everyone except for Shisei..for he didn't look like he had been fishing for objects in the water. After a couple of seconds, the Raiken really started to think about doing it..it seemed a bit fun after all, on a second thought. Maybe she could do that..just do the cliff diving for the fun of it. And with a deep breath, she took two steps and jumped off the flat surface without second thought.

'What. Did I just do?!'' Serena found herself diving headfirst towards the water down below..maybe she should have thought this out before she jumped..maybe she shouldn't have even jumped at all. Her eyes were wide in terror and nothing else ran through her mind but the thought of busting her head open for the first few seconds of falling. She bit her lip and tried to think about how to save herself from that kind of situation by changing her position. It was hard to do that when she was quickly falling towards the water, though. Plus, she pretty much lost her breath from the shock of the jump..it was a surprise that she wasn't even screaming all the way down.

'What do I doWhat do I do What do I do..?' The water was getting closer, and Serena had to think fast. Though she wasn't screaming out loud, her mind was literally about to burst. She felt really stupid now..jumping off of a cliff, especially when she had never had any instruction on how to. It was going to have to be a guess. The Raiken positioned herself in the best way possible for a land in the water and waited for something to happen. Every second, her breath was leaving her as the blue of the water came nearer and nearer. Of course, there was no turning back now..she was almost there. In a second, she would fall into the cold water. Oh, that's right, Serena just remembered that the water would be cold. That would be a wake up call for her.

And indeed, the water was freezing for Serena. The impact was not as bad as she thought--there was a slight sting through her as she hit the water, but it was much better compared to splitting her head open. This event was probably one of the most exhilarating things that she has ever done in her life..scary and exciting at the same time. Maybe if the water wasn't so cold she might have liked it a bit more. It was definitely a first experience, though..she felt really stupid for the fact that she never knew how to dive into the water correctly, for the Raiken could have actually gotten really injured. She swam over to the edge of the water and pulled herself out..her clothes were soaking wet and now she was shaking badly, from both being nervous and cold. "O-oka-kay..now that's d-done with, what else is there that I c-can do?" She asked herself. Obviously, she wasn't about to get back into the water and hunt for pearls. Serena shook her arms to get some water off and went over to where everyone had started the ball toss. "Well, umm..anyone n-need a partner..?" Now that she was down here..why not? It could keep her mind off of the cold.
