To make a movie from a book, you obviously have to change some things.
Harry Potter and LOTR are examples of movies that worked well. Sure, they did have changes that ticked people off, but they were still great...
wait a second, people actually got into the books by the movie? lolz112

I didn't like the movie, not a bit. BUT! I do know why the messed it up.
One: More entertaning and esayer to make money, because, the makers of the movie got pretty much every S of U E fans to go, even if it wasn't following the book(s).
Two: They didn't want it to be another "Harry Potter" because lets face it, 7 books and 7 movies, it will take a while, not to mention 13 books would be 13 movies. Wow! and seeing as it takes about a year in a half to make a movie so lets see 1.5 x 13= 19.5. So the actors would age 19.5 years in the making of the movies when really, they hardly ever have birthdays, I think sunny is yet to have her birthday. So you see the problem in that?
Im done.

virgogrl it practically broke my heart to see all of them, the one that really bothered me is that Mr. Poe never coughed!!! (doesn't he kind of resemble Peter Pettigrew from HP?) He IS Peter Pettigrew! It'd the same actor! He's called Timothy Spall, in case your wondering... P.S. Sorry if this has been posted already...

A rule of thumb I always tend to follow is, give movies that are based on books (or comics) a bit of a break. The original stories behind those movies have so many more details than your average movie script, so the only choices that the producers have are to condense the story, and in doing so lose some of what the readers love most; or make such a long movie that no one outside of the people who already read it anyway will want to sit through it.
By condensing it, at least more people come and see it. At least some of those people think, "This was based on a book? Well, that's neat. I think I'll go check the series out as well."
Major examples of this kind of thing are ASOUE, of course, as well as Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, and even the X-Men movies.
Also, Timothy Spall= Twitchy love heart

I AM/WAS SO ANGRY THAT THAT MOVIE WAS ALLOWED BY Lemony Snicket (I know, I know, Daniel Handler rolleyes ). It made the book look way worse than it is, and people will think it is like the book and assume it is as crap, I AM OUTRAGED! IF THEY MAKE ANOTHER MOVIE I'LL BE SO ANNOYED!And the way Violet didn't sign with herr left hand and thy left out the pasta bit and ARGH! scream THERE IS SO MUCH LEFT OUT AND SUCH SHAME IS BROUGHT TO THE SERIES OF UNFORTUNATE EVENTS BOOKS BY WHAT THEY PUT IN!

Yes he does have reading glasses. But in the books he needs glasses to see without squinting. I didn't like that he didn't wear glasses all the time like he's suppose to.

There was alot of differences betwen the movies and books! I still can't believe they filmed the part where the baudelaires stole the boat in 'the wide window" Did anyone notice that in one part of the movie klaus opens a drawer where he finds the spyglass and underneath was a letter with the letters V.F.D on it !!

Also about the reading glasses he does need them to see because in the 4th book he breaks his glasses and then can't see that makes him go to the eye doctor (aka count olaf) and also in the 13th book (not to blurt it out) but they try to take his glasses from him and he protests saying taht he needs them to see so there reading glasses are almost worse than no glasses!!!

It totaly suucked cause some outfits were wrong and olaf tried to marry her before they were sent to another gaurdian. It just didn't follow the books enough. And they probably can't make another cause they did that.
