That's fine. It happens. I've been gone for a long time too. ;D

I'll start working on the list of bachelor(ettes) and post it here once I'm finished and you can go through and veto some and add others. 3nodding
If you have time, go ahead and work on your own and then we can compare.

Or, on second thought, you could get on AIM and then we could go through the lists together and that might get things done more quickly. biggrin

If you have the time. smile

Good idea, I'll get on right away and I should be on for a couple of hours. ^^

Unless I fall asleep, since it's pretty late where I live. XD

Gah. gonk Sorry for not responding sooner. No excuses, I just forgot to.
It looks good to me! The only thing that I'm wondering is about how old are the kids? That's about it I think. I'm really bad at this sort of thing. sweatdrop

And for a random idea, dating sounds like an interesting one. ^.^

The kids are going to start at eight I think we agreed.

Dating does sound interesting, especially since the subject is giving me 'mini-game' ideas. XD

Aww, man, I wish I had been on more a while ago so I could have been a bigger help with this. I was, I guess second in command of the original game outline that Lex made, and I was also a project helper. Yet I didn't read about this until today. How sad, haha.
Well, I still wish to be of as much help as I can, regardless. I'm up for doing anything at all that's needed.
Anything specific that needs to be done?

That means you've already helped a ton because we're following most of the original outline. ^^

And there's still plenty to help with! Right now we're working on new characters and towns, specifically dating characters. We figured out which characters we want to make eligible, but we need a few more girls I think to even it out. I'll post a list of the ones we picked at some point... >.>

Well, glad I helped with what I did. :]

Anywho, I'll wait for that list and suggest any additions that could be made from there. And I can start working on some ideas for new characters.

For the girls we have: celia, nami, muffy, lumina, flora, keira, leia, mimi, ann, elli, karen, mary, popuri, aja, the harvest goddess, and the witch princess

For the guys we have: carter from forget-me-not, daryll, griffin, gustafa, marlin, rock, cody, skye, rick, gray, doctor, barney, kai, cliff, harris, won, kappa, carter from mineral town, gourmet, kano, and gotz

That should be sixteen girls and twenty-one boys. ^^

Hm...All right, I'll be digging through my HM stuff to find other potential girls.
Have we already decided who the male match is for each of the girls we already have?

Not every character will marry someone else just because you didn't marry them.
Take Gotz, for example. His entire family dies in a snow storm and so he's kind of stand offish at times. But if you choose to court him, then he warms up to you and you break through to his heart. However, if you marry someone else, then he will forever remain a bachelor.
Even some people are more inclined to stay unmarried, so it's not a big priority.

Ahh, all right, I see what you mean.
Well, have we determined those that may stay single or may marry someone else if you don't marry them? (I'm pretty much just asking this to clarify some stuff while I look for other potenital girls.)

Mostly...Cereah and I have talked it through but we're still working on creating characters for the third town.

Feel free to throw any amount of names out there. And if you want to start to think of your own, customized characters, that would be a big help too. And you don't even have to give a full character profile, just certain traits like " super sweet --> hot-headed in minutes" or "failed gardener." Just stuff like that. Enough for us to make a character out of.
Also! Names are good. Different names that fit more toward the city lifestyle since the third town is more city-like. :3

Nariko736 in the "Boy or Girl" thread made some good points.

She said that she didn't like playing the HM games as a girl because she said it felt odd that a girl was pursuing a guy. I figured that we could do something about that.
She suggested that if you choose to play the girl version, that all of the men should pursue you. I personally think that's a bit drastic, but perhaps we could compromise. From my experience with guys, they don't like rejection, so unless the girl has already expressed some interest in him, he won't make a move. In the game, perhaps the all guys are friendly towards you until gradually, with each heart event, they begin to pursue you. That would also open up the possibility for them to propose to you.

Secondly, Nariko736 said that she didn't like that once the husband is married to you, he doesn't do any farmwork. That has always perplexed me as well, but a new feature that Cereah and I have been talking about is hiring people to work for you. This is similar to hiring sprites to work for you (which will still be available), only the fee is higher and the work gets done quicker/more efficiently. With this new feature, I think it would be possible for you, playing the female character, to ask your husband to do something, whether it be around the house (cleaning for a party or taking care of the baby) or running errands or visiting someone or doing farmwork. This service would be, of course, free.
Another thought...just random. Maybe, if your husband is out doing something besides watching your baby, you could have a baby monitor on you to tell when your baby needs you. :3
Now...playing as the boy character, I think that the wife would stay home with your child until he is old enough to run around and take care of himself. You would also be able to ask your wife to do things for you.

OH! And child labor. We can make our kids work, too, right? biggrin

Also...Mineral Town and FMN Valley are both country-ish, so it makes sense to have harvest sprites, but since the third town will be more city-like, I was wondering if harvest sprites really fit in. You will still be able to hire people in the city to work on your farm (though I think that city folk will need some persuasion aka money/relationship points) but I'd like for there to be a "sprite"-like team.
Two thoughts...we could either have completely new workers or you could have the harvest sprites pretending to be little business men in pinstripe suits. As in, if you address one "Staid? Is that you?" he would go all worried "NO! I don't know who you're talking about. The name is Stan. Now, if you don't mind..." and then he gets back to work...and then eventually they reveal that they are the original sprites.

Okay, so I know I just crammed a whole bunch of ideas into one post, but it's something to chew on. razz

billyboyd07 and I have been discussing bits and pieces of things that actually could work for this, so let me see if I can form it into a coherent thought...

Alright, so for the problem with the female character pursuing the guys... we talked about having 'dates' that are like mini-games that would occur at every heart level. These dates would include things like going to the bar for a drink and seeing who can drink the most in a minute, swimming at the beach, and events like that. So, for the guy he could ask the girl out on this date and then for the girl character the guys can come ask her out on a date. That way you still have to give them gifts but they actually ask you out, and if you have a good date you get love points and maybe a nice present at the end. ^^

For proposals we also discussed that the mayor would come to you and ask you how you feel about marriage. This way, you have the option of saying you don't want to marry anyone and the game will go on for people who don't like the wooing aspect. However, we can also use this event to determine whether or not a guy will propose to you- the mayor comes and if you, as the girl character, say that you are interested in marriage then the mayor will ask who you like. Answer whomever you want to marry and the next event you have with him will be a proposal. I think that could work for all the girls that want the guys to chase after them instead of vice versa. <3

I agree with the work thing, but since the guys all have 'jobs' technically I think that a better alternative to having them work on your farm would be having them bring an income with them each day, like maybe a varied amount depending on the season (like Kai would get more in summer since he works most then while Cliff would bring more in the fall since that's when the grape harvest happens). For characters that don't have a job (like Rock) if you choose to marry them then they ask in the morning what you would like help with, like maybe crating the eggs or milking the cows. That way you have them doing a little work without taking over the farm. Thus, as mentioned, 'slacker' husbands (or husbands that you ask to quit their job for you, if we make that an option) would be 'free' workers for your farm. ^^

When the kids are old enough I agree that they should add a little something to the farm, even if it's little like getting a 'part-time' job like your character did as a child. XD

Third town being like a city would be awesome and would actually be a good explanation for introducing the worker system since I doubt Timid would enjoy the big city. And though I think the idea of pin-stripe suited harvest sprites, it should probably be real people so we can introduce some new faces into the harvest moon world... and if we think we don't have enough marriage candidates maybe a couple more of those. >.>
