Warren awoke out of his daze and only to learn the area was clearing quickly, except for the dead. He stepped outside and saw the pelicans almost leaving and Warren smiled. Chemis didn't give up in the end, he continued to fight. Warren looked at the sky and saw the marker of what was suppose to be the master chief, the hero of the UNSC, had he given up, not likely. Warren saluted the chief and then walked forwards away from the bunker. Master chief and Chemis had not stopped fighting, why should he.

A pelican manged to see Warren and came back, he loaded into the pelican and took a seat at the very end. The pelican door shut and the machine took off.

Sergeant... Can you hear me?
Yes... what is it now?
Sergeant, blink if you can hear me.
What? Why?
I dont think he's gonna make it...
Bullshit.

He awoke to 2 people standing before him in a Pelican Marine Bay. The 2 Marines, a Corporal and a Staff Sergeant, were not looking down at Anthony. Anthony reached up, gripping the Sergeant's Arm, and hefted himself up.

"Marines..." he said weakly.
"SIR!" They responeded with salutes.
"What happened?" He asked, rubbing the back of his head.
The Sergeant, who was obviously a medic, began tapping on a MEDTAC next to him.
"Sir, you've suffered a concussion, 2 broken ribs and some internal bleeding. Your fine though sir."
He scoffed. "A flesh wound." He looked around. "Company?"
"We're Charlie Company, 105th. We got the message, and came by. Just in time it looks like." Said the Private over in the corner.
Anthony now say on his rear, he now realized, all of his gear was gone; encluding his COM.
"Gimme a walk through Sergeant?" he asked.
"yes Sir..." He said.

Michael hated having his pod malfunction, especially when he was on an important drop. His drop pod, as well as his orderlies, Master Gunnery Sergeant Kaiser landed with near pin point precision under the shade of the trees approximately three clicks from the Crow's Nest. During their drop he had heard the scream of the last of his men as the drop pod failed to release it's chute and plummeted into the rocky hillside. Their trek to the Crow's Nest had been invigorating to say the least; a small hike was always good for the soul. Upon approaching the "secret" entrance to the Crow's Nest two Marine Corporals and their Sergeant saluted the two of them, dirty from scrambling their way to the HQ. Michael wouldn't have had it any other way.

Fortunately now they were inside, and getting ready for the biggest fight of their lives. Along side the O.D.S.T. veteran was the daughter of the late Captain Keyes, Miranda, a Commander in the U.N.S.C. Their job was to find what the Covenant were looking for, and destroy it before it could be found. Unfortunately it was proving rather difficult with no evidence of anything besides several Carriers gathering over a large blotch of land to the North East. Dust was beginning to pick up, a sure sign of Covenant excavation. Three C709 longsword-class fighters had been sent to investigate but could not determine what was going on other than the Covenant were digging. The bases intelligence had picked up some garbled transmissions speaking about an "Ark" and the "Great Journey". But according to him if the Covenant wanted it, they weren't going to get it.

Aboard the Shanghelii Heavy Cruiser, Heart of the Blade: Decaying orbit over Earth.
Tenth Age of Deceit and Shame, Royal Calendar of Shanghelios

Shipmaster Quan-Vrek pulled himself into his command chair, his bloody wounds sealing themselves shut with amazing speed. He relished his specie's amazing regenerative ability, but at the same time knew how close they were to mimicking the Parasite's aptitude in the skill. Still, the less lifeblood leaving him, the better.

Quan-Vrek spoke quickly to the Heart of the Blade's intelligence, Garn Kun-Jirr. The man's noble battledress, which was a kilted mantle of metal plates and links laced through metal cloth. Stained blue with the blood of his imaginary fallen enemies, the warrior's swords were now sheathed in scabbards at the Shanghelii's hips.
"Kun-Jirr, calculate a slip-stream jump: close proximity towards higher orbit."
"Such a daring maneuver has only been attempted by our ships once before, Esteemed Shipmaster. It would be a bold move indeed."
"Well, I am the bold sort of man. Now, calculate those coordinates and feed them to our Hullmaster."
The Hullmaster, Dorrav-Jek, nodded solemnly as the coordinates were acquired and sent to his station. He hesitated, and Quan-Vrek noticed this.
"You give pause, Hullmaster. Why?" His voice was calm in the face of danger, like a dependable father who would never let his sons down. The voice of someone a proud Shanghelii could put his entire trust in. But still, it carried a tone of haste.
"Shipmaster, our shields are down. We would need all of our ship's latent energy to pull away from the planet's gravitational field, and we do not have enough even stored in the hydrogen flouride reserves, sire."

It was a ponderous probem indeed. They would surely be sheared appart by even this short jump if their shields were not even slightly operational.
"Kun-Jirr, what say you on this?" He asked teh Intelligence, who bowed in submission.
"Sire, the only way to attain enough energy in our short allotted time left intact would be to achieve extreme speeds and temperatures. We have, currently, half the available fuel and charge in the Engines to attain this on our own."
Their audio-units crackled, and Kun-Jirr paused.
"Esteemed Shipmaster, an incoming transmission from the humans, sire."

On their display, a smooth-skinned Captain appeared. Quan-Vrek still had difficulty distinguishing genders among the humans, but if his own species was anything to go by, this was a female. Quite battle-worn, at that.
"Shipmaster, or whatever-" Quan-Vrek bristled at this ignorance, but now was not the time for petty hostilities- "You are losing too much altitude. Suggest emergencey slipspace jump."
"This has already been advised, Human. We have not the power nor kinetic energy to perform such a jump."
The human looked down at her screens, pressed a few 2-D icons and strange glyphs, then re-addressed Shipmaster Quan-Vrek.
"Shipmaster, we may be able to help. Feed your coordinates into our NAV computers, and hold on tight. This trip's gonna get a little cozey. Captain Freedman, out."

Wondering at the human's request, he nonetheless complied. He had little choice, it seemed. He felt gravity start to pull him to his side, as his ship fell, starboard-side down, to the planet's surface, and their Artificial Gravity Units became overtaxed with negating the planet's pull.
"Kun-Jirr, comply with the human's request. Send the relevant data to her."
The Intelligence faded slightly as the transmission was made.
"Done, Shipmaster. Alert, detecting proximity warnings. It appears a battlegroup of nine of their larger ships are converging on us, sire." Reported their Intelligence, who changed his appearance, putting on a stone-walled face.
"Bastards. They plan to kill us!" Cried his Hullmaster, slamming his fists down on his console, which made the holographic display sputter and pause, but it regained its composure.

Quan-Vrek wasn't so sure, though...
"No, Hullmaster. I do not believe that is their intent." Turning to his Secon-in-Command, Throsh-Jariv, he spoke in a hush, "My Brother, prepare for anything, and let not your guard lax. Still, I do not fear the humans: they have too much to loose without our help."
His XO replied smoothly, even thought the ship rocked and shook slightly now, "Shipmaster, I share the concerns of the Hullmaster. If it is your will, though, I am then to remain steady. Shall I busy myself with any tasks whilst we wait, sir?"
Turning in his chair back to the display of his own ship, the Heart of the Blade, and at the approaching battlegroup which was matching their descent into the atmosphere, he had a revelation. A wry smile crept across his madibles, and they clacked audiably as he began laughing.
"Ha, HA HA! Those brave fools..." Throsh-Jariv kept his silence, though, and instead studied the holo-tank along with his Shipmaster. Slowly, he, too, realised their courageous plan.

Sounding a collision alarm, and activating the ship-wide transmissions, he bellowed, "BROTHERS, FIND SUITABLE HOLDS! PREPARE FOR ROUGH TRANSIT!!" By now, all of the Scarabs had been safely recalled into the dying ship: the pilots would never dream of dying a different death than their honourable Shipmaster: wouldn't even think it. "HOLD TIGHT!!!

The slipspace fields emanated from the Human war vessels, small at first, but they grew in size, brightness, and voracity quick enough. The nine ships had taken surrounding positions, and their fearless Shipmasters (Or, what had the Human called herself? "Captain"? Queer term, it would take some getting-used-to.) matched their doomed descent, falling alongside the proud Shanghelii Super-Carrier.

From the bridge's audio units: "Initiate Shaw-Fujikawa drives! Jump on my mark... Three, Two, One, Mark!!". The rest was a violent cacaphony of light, screatching hulls, and then silence as the Heart of the Blade was dragged into slipspace by the Human vessels, who had used the Shanghelii's superior coordinating power to pull the ship from its decayed orbit. They appeared some thousands of kilometers up, in a steady orbit, and not a Jiralhanae ship to be seen.

Addressing the Humans, Quan-Vrek bowed his head slightly. "Thank you, Humans. Your aide has bought us much more time, with which to slay the Jiralhanae Bastards and all their sons!"
The image of the Ship Captain who had addressed them earlier appeared in the holo-tank.
"Damn straight, Shipmaster. But you're not killing anyone..." The pause gave worry to Quan-Vrek's earlier suspicion... -"Without us. This is Captain Freedman, assuming control of Battlegroup Lambda-Seven in the absence of the late Captain Hokatu. Battlegroup Lambda-Seven, form up around the Elite's Ship and await further instructions!"

..."And that's when we came across the message sir." Staff Sergeant Heely finished. "Your all patched up sir." He patted Anthony on the back and went back to his seat, strapping himself in.

"Where is your CO?" He asked.
"KIA sir. Too a Spiker to the face." Corporal Mansling said grimly.

Anthony nodded; best to leave it at that.
"Alright, so that makes...." Anthony started.
"Yes, your our CO. For the moment anyways." Heely finished.

"Where are you boys heading now?"
"We're on our way to a Covenant AA camp. We're meeting up with 2 Pelicans." Replied someome, Anthony didn't catch it, he dropped his face into his hands. More action. Just what he needed.

"You ok sir?" Heely asked, reaching for his Med Kit.
Karr waved a hand at him signaling a stop. "Yea yea, I'm fine."
He stood up.
"Ok, we have 10 on this boat, 11 including me. Who has SPEC Maps?"
A private raised his hand, and began burrowing in a map bag.
"Alright, I'm going to need a weapon. Anybody have any spares?" Anthony started to look around.
Heely approched him with a C7-SMG, 2 clips fastened to its side. "Sir, it was the Lieutenants, I grabbed it for spare Ammo. It's not much but it'll work."
Anthony clipped the weapon to his side and nodded at Heely in appriciation.

The calculations of numbers and stratagies began to twist themselves in Karr's head. "Ok, 6 on the left. You guys are with me. We run out first while XO Heely," He looked over to the Medic, who had formulated a smile from hearing that. "will take the 5 on the right and give us covering fire, untill Squad A, thats us," he pointed to the left side. "hits this point here." he said, pointing to a building on the paper map. "After that, Squad B, you hold a base of fire while Squad A moves in, plants the explosives, and finishes off the rest. From the explosives, we'll improvise. Any questions?"

The room was silent.

"Good. Weapons?"
Heely got up from his seat. "Sir, we have an AP turret manned by Private Mitchell, 7 SMG's, 6 Battle Rifles, and 3 LOTUS anti-Tank mines. Plus, 3 of the BR's are out of ammo sir."
"Ok," Anthony started. "Mitchell, your with B."

The next few hours were going to be interesting. HE would be leading, this should be fun...

* On pelican heading to there destination*

Warren took a seat on the bird, and saw Nick, he gave a Nick a nod of acknowledgment, and then he looked over and on a stretcher he saw Ashton. "Ashton!" Warren said and he looked at the injured marine. He looked at his friend and was truly angered. Damn the covenant, damn them to hell. He decided he would push this to the back of his mind for now. A medic beside him was looking at him intently. "Can I help you?" Warren asked."Your suppose to be dead sir, I saw your readings, they said KIA." The medic said. Warren stared at the man, and was just equally confused as this man. He was told when he entered the shed, his readings beamed KIA there to. Must be something to do with the terminal he figured. He never told anyone about it, not even Ashton. He would end being an ONI experiment if he did, so he kept it to himself. He soon began questioning this operation, and his last one of Chemis's station. He was starting to wish he never joined up with the UNSC.

Nick was sitting on the pelican when he noticed warren give him a nod to say that he was there nick returned the nod then started to feel his shoulder it was a little sore still, Then went back to figure out how they had gotten shot down. He started to figure that they had gotten hit with at least one or more plasma rounds which caused the systems to malfunction, and since they couldn't do a flight check since neither of them were engineers that that was enough to push the hornet over its limit which is how he ended up in the place they are now.
PostPosted: Wed Feb 27, 2008 9:25 pm

The pelicans flew over a sea of jungle vegetation, the thick east african forest consuming in it's lush foliage all but the most severe of the war's environmental tolls. Far in the distance, clouds of sand, dust and steam swirled around a massive excavation site and provided just enough electromagnetic and radio interference for the three pelicans to pass unnoticed as they hugged the terrain on the way to Fox Hole One.
Having finished his lengthy discussion with the Pelican flight's lead pilot, Captain Lee finally undid the seals on the ODST helmet he was wearing, removing the uncomfortably restrictive neck seals and taking in a breath of unprocessed fresh air. To his disappointment, the air in his lungs now turned out no less sweaty than the air he had been re-breathing as the smells of the many battle-worn marines in the troop bay overwhelmed his nose. He sighed and popped a few bones in his lower back before walking slowly into the aft compartment on the pelican.

Entering the troop bay, Lee exchanged approving nods with those still around, and recognized many who were still with him even after the incident on installation 79. One of the new-comers, however, a marine he hadn't seen before, had a large red stain spreading on his shoulder and arm. Walking over, Lee managed to take a glance at Dansmith's situation and felt a pang of regret come over him. Seemed like the man ended up in a stretcher more often than not.
"Private... Savage, you get that checked out yet? You don't look too good, marine."

Nick looked up at captain lee and responded "No not yet sir it just still hurts a little but i haven't really done anything to strain it so I just keep forgetting about it." rubbing his shoulder he asked. "So is everyone else ok I saw a sergeant on board who looked pretty bad." Nick not realizing the real extent of the damage went on asking about how everyone else was doing still not noticing his own condition.
PostPosted: Wed Feb 27, 2008 10:08 pm

Lee continued to look in horror as the marine deluded himself. The fingers he had wiped his shoulder with were blood-soaked now, but Private Savage seemed not to realize the full extent of his injuries or the pain he should be in. He wasn't one of Lee's boys, but damned if the Captain wasn't going to try and help as much as he could. Waving over at the medic that had stabilized Dansmith's condition, he waited until the man was ripping open the Private's shoulder fatigues before explaining the situation.
"He seems to think he's unhurt, Doc. Check that shoulder up and tell me what you think."
The young medic finished tearing apart the fabric, and immediately rushed for his field bandaging kit. Ignoring the Private's squirming, the medic continued to work as he gave his analysis of what had happened.
"You've got a pretty big gash in your shoulder, man. I can't tell right now if it's deeper or not, but you would have bled out in another two minutes if nobody had caught you. There could be shrapnel still in there for all I know, but I can't do anything about it until we get to the hole.
I've done everything I can, just try not to move in case something gets pushed deeper into your wounds."

Nick looked down toward the wound he said "How bad can it really be?" in disbelief he saw that there was a major gash in his shoulder that he had apparently been bleeding profusely the entire time after the crash, "I'm surprised you managed to stay conscious this long private any normal person would've passed out by now.",sure enough the second the medic had said that nick passed out partially from blood loss and from the shock that he didn't realize that whole time he was bleeding. His mind raced with thoughts of what if and how come. He should be dead for all he knows.
PostPosted: Thu Feb 28, 2008 6:37 pm

Anthony could feel the Pelican start to slow and hover in his stomach and nerves. He gripped his rifle tighter as the Pelican came down lower, what was on the other side of this door, but whatever it was, it was about to give him a world of hurt.

A sudden hiss, and the flooding of daylight into the cabin game Karr his que. It was his time to shine; and the spotlight was about to get hot.

"Alright boys lets go! You know what to do. Mitchell! Stay with them, deploy over by the cover." he hollered as he began to run with the rest of his squad behind him. He could see in his perefrial vision, 2 more Pelicans begin to land a half a click away from his.

"Stay low! incoming fire! Sanders on the side, Corply, stay on my a**!" He said, getting low, de clipping his SMG from his side.

The plasma was swarming like angry bees, barely missing the marines. His plan was working to an extent, but it wouldn't hold for long.

His squad finally came to the holding point. Anthony checked the line, 5 present, including himself.

"Alright boys, OPEN FIRE!" He called to the line. The rifles opened up, and bullets pierced the air.

Anthony swooped around the back and patted each marine on the shoulder, they all gave a thumbs up in responce.

"Ok, Squad B, have guys meet me at this point here; Mitchell, and Heely, that would be you. Lets go marines."

He dropped an NAV Marker on the spot they needed to meet, a section of wall 30 feet away from him. ANthony made the dash, so did the other 2 marines.

Warren ripped himself away from his recurring depression problems and walked over to Where Lee was waiting. He saw Nick pass out randomly and he ran over and caught the private before the man landed on his already injured shoulder. "Nick?" Warren said. First Ashton and now Nick. Those god damn covenant. 2 medics ran over with a stretcher and they carried Nick off to a med bay. Warren watched them run off. They would most likely take Ashton there to, he made not to go there if he didn't have other order's.

He walked up to Lee and saluted. "Captain, do I have any order's right now sir" Warren asked.
PostPosted: Thu Feb 28, 2008 9:03 pm

It was a messy wound. Ragged, torn, blood everywhere, and carbonized skin from the super-heated spike. Not to mention Ashton had lost a good 2 pints from the injury, all told. He was shocked, upon waking, that he was still alive.
Dansmith?
"Ungh..." He moaned, then tried to move. Bad Idea.
Pain! searing pain throughout his whole midsection ate him up in one moment, and he was convulsing from muscle spasms the next.
"Argh!! Oh-oh, ah! Morphine!!" he bellowed, and clenched his teeth as his wiggling and writhing moved his wound even more.
"MEDIC! RED ALERT!!"

He saw a blurr of movement, a blinding light, a pin-p***k on his neck, and he... felt.... calm..... again.

Out cold. No pain. No worries.

-----
Two hours later.
-----

He woke slowly this time, as the medications effects' weakened. His head felt like a ton of bricks. He sat up slower now, but soon saw it was unnecessary. His wound was stem-celled shut, and the nasty green-and blue bruises told him it was near completely healed. The red, inflamed tissue meant his immune system was still nice and active.

Sitting up, he yanked at his gown, which covered his chest and back. He still had on his fatigues, but no armor or boots. Ashton scanned around, and spyed his gear sitting next to a rusty locker. The walls leaked, and the rats scurried. Home sweet home.
