Ben gave him a small glare and smacked him in the back of the head. It was a pretty hard hit. "Don't give me that grin and yes. Another long night." He wasn't upset, but needed something to eat and drink so he went over to the food basket, grabbing some of the dried meat and even a water jug. He sat down and leaned against the wall, starting to eat.

he chuckled a bit and sat across from him. "did you get any farther?"

He took a drink of water and another bite of the meat and once his mouth wasn't full, he started talking. "It's just taking a long time, but only a few more characters to decode. It's why I've been racking my brain and barely getting sleep. We're that ******** close."

he nodded. they were getting close. but even if they did portal out of here, xandus could just find them again. he'd still go after smash since he had something he wanted. he couldn't leave until xandus was dead. "alright. you keep at it. today i'm gonna put an end to all of this."

He rubbed the back of his head and held a hand up as if saying to wait a second. "I think anymore you should just train and wait until I'm done. I know that we need to kill him, but I'm saying that... He might try to destroy everything. You know, take everything down with him. He knows the codes to do it and he can manipulate everything. I'm just worried that if he's going down... Well, you know."

he thought it over but it still bothered him. "we haven't seen or heard from him for a long time now. i think he's up to something. i even noticed there are less monsters around as well."

He nodded and seemed upset about this fact. "I know. It bothers me, too. I don't know what's going on, but I know that sure as hell, he's getting pissed. He usually kills anything he brings in within six months. You've been here a year and me a year and eight months. The only reason I was still living when you came around was because I'm sure that he thought I was dead. Of course, he knows otherwise, now." He had made himself known the day he came and helped Smash escape. Since then, he kept himself hidden and very rarely came out of the cave.

"yea. he's pissed cause he knows that what i told him was right. i think he's planning something big to get rid of us. i say we get to him first before he can do anything."

He stayed quiet and seemed in thought, but eventually spoke up. "Wait 'til I figure out the code. That's all I'm asking. I'll work on it all day today and until I can figure it out.."

he stood up and walked to the exit. he looked back at him. "alright, i'll wait. i'll do some more training and i'll come back at the end of the day."

"Good." He stood up and stretched as he went back over to the machine and started typing at a makeshift keyboard. He was determined to get this running and working.

soon night fell and smash had gotten more intense training in. he now could use the game face at will and even mastered a new technique he had been working on. he returned to the cave and walked in. "hey. how's it going?"

He was sitting and still typing at the machine. "Five more characters, but they're the hardest to figure out. I'd be lucky if I figure out one a day." He seemed tired and rubbed his eyes, even smacking his face at one point.

he thought it over and he didn't like waiting this long. he did have a point though and they should get this finished. he walked up to him and made his decision. "alright, here's the deal. i'll give you one week. after the week has passed i'm going after xandus. does that sound fair?"

He looked up at him and realized what he said. He seemed a bit taken aback by this and squinted at him. "I'll try to do what I can. I don't want to make that deal with you, though. I know it's hard for me to tell you to be patient because you have been waiting for a year... But still."
