Moonkit sat up, guessing that something was bothering Silvertail. It didn't take a message from Starclan to figure that out. Still thinking about it, she got up and padded after Silvertail, wondering where they were going. Moonkit had never been more then a few fox-lengths away from the camp. Maybe she could show off her hunting skills out here. Surely no one would question her ability to be an apprentice if she bought back a juicy water vole.

They had been walking for only a short time before Silvertail realized that she didn't know where she was taking Moonkit. She giggled at herself as she spun around. "Okay we're stopping right here." She sat down right where she stood. And looked at Moonkit. The camp was still in sight but at least it was a change to actually see it from the outside. "Okay Moonkit I'm going to give you your first assignment as a pre apprentice." She smiled down at her kit to watch for her reaction.

Moonkit nearly jumped at hearing the words 'assignment' and 'apprentice' used in the same sentence. The end of her tail flipped wildly around with anticipation. She would actually get to do something! Perhaps she was going to catch something for the clan, or patrol the border. Her head held high, she replied hastily, "What is it?"

Silvertail couldn't help but purr with amusement. Moonkit looked so funny all excited. She was so small that it was hard to believe that such a little fluffball could hold all that energy. "Ok. First sit still and tall." Silvertail demonstrated and then glanced at Moonkit to make sure she had done it. "Listen..." Silvertail closed her eyes and heard almost no sound. But then was she focused more she heard many sounds. "What do you hear Moonkit?"

Moonkit did as she was told. She sat up as straight as she could, her ears pricked, and listened. At first, all she could hear was a cricket chirping. But then, the sounds of the wild rushed over her like a wave. The river in the distance faintly roaring; the reeds seeming to whisper as the wind blew harder... And something scuttling in the bushes. "I hear something in the bushes right there, what is it?" She asked, a bit embarassed that she couldn't tell what it was by its scent. But she was a kit, afterall.

((Something is going to happen to Sandpaw now. Read WindClan's last page for details. No need for your cats to react immidiately. wink ))
Sandpaw sighed. His mentor hadn't come out of his den for ages. He might as well just get up and go hunt himself.
Sandpaw dragged himself up and out of the camp. The freezing river rushed by him, and he jumped in to swim across to the other side. The current was extra strong today it seemed to him, but being a RiverClan cat he was able to swim across. Sandpaw didn't feel like fishing today and had an unusual talent for hunting even though it was not in RiverClan's blood. Finally, he pulled himself out of the water at the other edge and shook the cold water out of his fur. He started to walk around to a small spot were the hunting was extra good for voles. It was near the WindClan border, but he wouldn't be crossing it, so he would be okay. Slowly approaching the area, he stopped dead and went into a crouch. A new scent reached his nose: dog.

Sandpaw whipped himself around to see three large dogs approaching him, snarling. He backed slowly away. This was bad. One dog this size was bad enough, but three?
The three dogs had him pinned against the WindClan border with almost no chance of getting past them to the camp. He was debating with himself whether to cross the border and try to get help, or finding a way to get past the dogs. But he waited a second too long. The dogs attacked.

Sandpaw managed to dodge the first attack by one of the dogs, but a blow from the paw of another sent him sprawling. He got back up and started to bolt in a direction he didn't have time to register. All he could do was run. Soon the slope started to rise up. He was heading towards the WindClan moor. The dogs were catching up and Sandpaw started to feel tired. He howled for help, not knowing if anyone heard him. He felt a n** on his tail and he tripped on a stone that he had not seen. He flipped over on the ground and the dogs closed in. Acting out of instinct, he jumped on the back of one and his claws deep inside its skull, making it howl in pain. It shook its head powerfully, knocking him off into another dog. The dog bit hard down into his back leg while another put a deep scratch in his side. Blood spurted from both wounds. He tried to yell out, but his voice was not loud. Another blow was thrown at him, but he rolled over trying to avoid it, only to meet another rake down his side. The wind knocked out of him, one of the dogs picked him up in its jaws and threw him hard against the ground a few feet away. The last vision he had was the three dogs approaching him again, but their figures blurred and everything went black.

Moonkit jumped; she heard a new noise! Her eyes filled with terror, her ears were flooded for just a brief moment with the screeching of a terrified cat. "Silvertail! A cat's in trouble!" She yowled, hurling around to face the noise. Without looking back, she bounded off into the underbrush to search for the dangered cat. "Don't worry!" She called aloud. "Help is on the way!" She skidded through the mud, falling only once and making her pelt stick to her. Silvertail must be following, now... she thought as she ran. It was supposed to be a quiet day outside... Fun and happy. Although she didn't realize it, she could be running into more trouble then she ever imagined.

[ ahh holy poop sorry I disappeared like that, I went on holiday and didn't warn you guys and then things got hectic and BLAH.
Sorryyyy. ;__;
But I'm back now. Phew. Did I miss anything exciting? /: ]
Dampfoot pulled her forepaws in close to her body, tucking them under a lengthy tail.
Her eyes narrowed, drilling a hole into the ground and looking generally irritated.
A sudden jerk of her head left her cold eyes aimed directly at Beesting lounging just across the clearing from her.
Her ears flicked nervously, her body suddenly stiff and tense, watching on with curiosity and slight confusion as he slowly dragged his gaze from her.
There was a short silent pause, hanging thick and sticky in the air, dripping with atmospheric tension and boredom before Dampfoot let out an infuriated yowl.
Why did camp have to be so boring?!
Propelling herself onto all fours, Dampfoot leapt across the crisp grass, striding forward into an agressing pacing motion.
Head hung low, sight fixed on the floor, shoulders jutting out and rotating in that feline way as she stalked forward then back again, forward and then back again, forward and then back again.
The agitated female concentrated on watching her paws cover long lengths of stiff, frosty grass as she paced back and forth across the width of the clearing, whipchord swinging back and forth behind her in an alarmingly agitated fashion.
Anything was better than sitting and doing nothing.

((I'm on WindClan territory so you can't really get to me. The camp RiverClan is on an island so Silvertail most likely wouldn't let you cross. Plus I'm not sure if she could hear the cry from where Sandpaw is.))

Moonkit eventually slowed down. Her heart was beating fiercely, adn she couldn't take it anymore. She hadn't gone as far as it seemed; though it was still pretty far. "Someone will help the cat... Right?" She told herself, hoping it was true. Shrugging, she turned back in the direction she thought the camp was in. She hoped Silvertail wouldn't get too mad.
