"Until the invention of railroads and modern roads, the movement of goods over land was quite difficult. Water transport was much easier. There fore, trade tended to flourish along river, lake shores, and the coastlines of ocean and seas. In the premodern era, key international trade routes sprang up in the Mediterranean Sea, the North and Baltic seas, the Arabian Sea and the Indian Ocean, the river systems of western Europe (Especially the Rhine and Danube) the river basins connecting Scandinavia and Russia with the Black Sea, and East Asia's Pacific shore. Land routes included the caravan routes of the Sahara desert and the Arabian peninsula. The longest and most important overland route was the silk road. The network stretched more than 5,00 miles, linking china with the Mediterranean coast of the middle east- and by extension, Europe."

It was far into the afternoon by now, and the boys trekked further on. They could see somewhat of an emptiness at the end of the sagebrush fields. Which both encouraged and disappointed them. They both new that beyond this they would have to pass through the desert. "Lavi this is really far away. We should have thought of this before we went out on this long trek. I don't even think I'll be able to train tonight, I'll be so dead tired."
"nah little buddy, we'll get there and than you will get all excited. So what's the name of this guy that called you?"

"Eh" Raine pulled out the enveloped he had put in his pocket. "Tsuyosa Tekkenseisai, I haven't heard of him before." Raine said reading over the letter once more, it filled him with joy. "I still can't believe I've been called by the clan leader." He smiled and handed Lavi the letter.
"Yeah, what are you supposed to do there anyway? Just learn the jutsu?"
"Not really, he is a tiajutsu master too. So he can teach us both better ways to fight and new techniques. I can't wait. I've never been to Sunagakure before."
"I've been there before a few years ago. I heard the got a new Kazekage. He is supposedly like a little kid. I don't want you going and beating him up. Okay? Lavi looked down at the kid and smiled.
"Well that depends if he pissed me off or not." Raine laughed jokingly.

"K on with the lesson It's time we moved onto religious interaction." He said grabbing another drink form his water bottle. The sun was descending down the other side of the sky now. "Every society develops or adopts some kind of belief system in order to address questions of ethics, morality, and humanity's place in the universe. Religious beliefs cross borders very easily, allowing different cultures and civilizations to affect each other profoundly. sometimes, religion spread peacefully, through cultural contact of deliberate proselytizing and missionary activity. In other cases religious faiths are brought to other societies by means of aggression and war."

"As societies interact, they often absorb some of the deities and basic religious concepts of their neighbors, even if names and details change. This borrowing took place among many of the native populations of Africa, South America, and North America. Throughout Eurasia, many religious ideas are shared by the mythologies of the various descendants of the Indo-Europeans, who spread throughout Europe and Asia thousands of years ago. Famous examples of religious borrowing in the ancient Western tradition include the adoption of Sumerian gods and goddesses by the Babylonians, as well as the Romans' use of Greek deities, with slightly modified names."
"Isn't that cheating?"
"They're the Roman's Raine."

"All the world's key religions had traveled far from their original birthplace by 1000 c.e. Hinduism was prominent not only in India, but throughout Southeast Asia. Buddhism spread from India to all of Eat Asia, including China, Korea, and Japan. Confucianism and Daoism, which originated in China, influenced religious and philosophical thought elsewhere in East Asia. Judaism, Christianity, and Islam burst out of the Middle East to have huge effects on North Africa, Asia and Europe (Later, Christianity and Judaism would be exported to the Americas as well)." Raine looked up at Lavi.

As the boys travled the sagebrush dissipated, soon there was near to none, and the ground was hard with thick hard earth that hurt their feet. "Dude, I can't wait till we get to Suna, I'm going to dowse myself in water." he imagined thinking about a coming headache in the heat. Even with his jacket off it was still hot and he had a yellow shirt on. Raine was wearing all black. It didn't seem to effect him much. He was walking even faster than Lavi. The boy's determination uplifted the older boy.

"Ugh we have to take a break for some water and food. How about some more sandwiches." Lavi said grabbed Raine's backpack who was still trying to trek on. Raine stopped and yawned, he nodded and took out his own water bottle. The boy poured some in his palm and splashed it on his face. He repeated this with his each arm. It cooled him within seconds and the boys were chatting and eating on the path together for a few minutes.
"Where do you learn these things Lavi?" Raine asked his lesson had been confusing and way over his head.
"I like to read about history at the library in Konoha."
Raine stopped eating. "You're from konoha?" he voice was cold.
"Yeah why?" he smiled wondering what had changed his attitude so.
"Nothing." Raine packed up in silence and put his bag on, he started walking away before Lavi could even finish.

The boys found themselves in the desert now. There was barely any vegetation for miles. Only distant small patches of cactus. Lavi ran to catch up to the small boy, "Hey Raine what's wrong?" the little boy was silent.
"Was it something about Konoha? Look I left that village for a reason." he pulled at Raine's shoulder. Instantly, he felt the odd phenomenon again. His muscles hardened beneath hi skin.
"I hate that village, I hate it more than anything in the entire world. I want to kill those konoha ninja." He said, Raine's eyes became teary and he tried to hide it.
Lavi didn't have to try hard to realize he had some personal scar that evolved his village. "Hey don't worry about it. I'm your friend, it shouldn't matter where I come from. I left there to be here with you." Lavi set his hand down on his shoulder and it seemed like this made Raine feel a little better.

"So what happened next?" Raine said toward the ground wanting to change the subject.
"Huh, well it's actually the Migration of Peoples. Human populations rarely develop in isolation, especially in times when communities are less settled. The mass movement, or migration, of large numbers of people in the early periods of global history has had tremendous effect on the ethnic and cultural makeup of most of the world's major societies, even today."

"Humanity originated in Africa, and then spread to all the other continents. Homo spaiens sapiens moved into the Middle East and much of Aise around 100,000 years ago. Perhaps as far back as 50,000 years ago, settlers crossed from Southeast Asia to Australia. By 40,000 years ago, there were numerous human communities throughout Europe. Most scholars think that humans did not reach the Americas until comparatively late. Scientists estimate that Homo sapiens sapiens first came to the Americas 15,000 years ago (perhaps earlier). at that time people from Asia crossed an ice shelf or land bridge that spanned whit is now the Bering Strait, the narrow waterway separating the tip of Russia from Alaska. By 8000 b.c.e humans had settled in almost all posts of the globe."

"After the settlement of these continents, the regions that experienced the greatest and longest-lasting waves of mass migration were Africa, the Pacific, and Eurasia. From 2,500 to 5,000 years ago, the Bantu peoples began to spread throughout the sub Saharan Africa. Starting sometime around 2500 bce. The epic migration of the Polynesians from South eat Asia throughout the vast expanse of the Pacific Ocean led to the settlement of literally thousands of islands. In Eurasia, a number of peoples, mainly form Central Asia, migrated outward, deeply affecting the ethnic and Linguistic makeup of many European and Asian peoples." They were now completely surrounded by sand.

Hiking small dunes Lavi kept going, sometimes Raine would trip and he would have to back track and pick his out of the ground. The trail was gone but Lavi had a good sense of direction. "In particular, Europe was flooded by a tremendous influx of invaders, from approximately the 200s c.e. to 1000ce. A person known as the Great Age of Migrations. During this time a variety of Germanic and Asiatic people move toward and into Europe. Although they were generally seen as a threat- and often perceived as barbarians- many of these people eventually settled throughout Europe and western Asia, and Played an immensely important role in the development of many Eurasian ethnicities and cultures."

"So what happened than?" Raine asked looking up at Lavi through his sinking duck walk across the sand.
"Eh well, actually that was the end of the chapter. Did you actually understand all that?" he asked looking back at the small boy.
"Well, I got some of it. Lot's of big words. Thanks for teaching me all that stuff," He said, hearing information definitely helped Raine understand it, he also failed when it came to reading. Not that he was stupid or anything the words were just so hard to make out on the page. Sometimes it felt like they were jumping around and getting all mixed up.

Now they were almost there. "Just a few more miles buddy." Lavi said as Raine slipped down a dune again. He didn't have the dexterity of balance that Lavi had, and the sand keep falling out from under him. It had filled his sandals. Raine sat for a few seconds trying to empty them. He got the majority of the sand, but it was still there.
"Eh I like oto much more." he said standing up with Lavi's help.
