"You're going to landscape the village? Thank goodness! That place is frighteningly sterile." Ah, gardening. She'd never been overly good at it, but had always respected anyone who could convince plants they wanted to grow where they put them. Growing up in Seattle, Greer had always been overly partial to nature.

"Other people? There're lots. Going on twenty total, I think, but personally I know..." she closed her eyes, counting, "Five well and am aqauinted with maybe seven others. And honestly most of my socializing was due to well-timed hunger more than anything else."

Anjali's eyebrows raised at the mention of numbers. She'd seen all the duplexes, of course, but so many already. "I see," she murmured. "And... no, nevermind." She wasn't ready to ask yet. Not yet.

"Yes, I'm going to be landscaping the village," she said, instead. "Eventually it will blend right into the jungle again. No more foul clearcut jungle and cookie-cutter bland duplexes - I was thinking windowboxes, if not climbing vines, on the buildings."

Greer raised an eyebrow when her companion cut herself off, but left it alone. No sense in pushing if she didn't want to ask that. "Your ideas for the village sound great! I'd offer to lend a hand, but I've never been good with plants."

Hmm... Greer idly toyed with her notebook. You needed a well-tended collection of flora to make a butterfly house really work... "Any chance you might want to do some work on the plants in our butterfly house once it's finished? It won't really work without a gardener's skill."

"A butterfly house?" Anjali looked interested. "Greenhouse-style, or... well, no, I suppose in this literal hothouse environment you wouldn't need glass, would you? Only mesh." She shrugged. "If I am allowed. It sounds like it could be an interesting challenge, cultivating heavy nectar-bearing flora."

She nodded. "Exactly! Which is really good, since we're all going to have enough trouble not harming ourselves with hammers, let alone moving large sheets of glass." Confused by the 'allowed' comment, Greer was about to ask when her stomach rumbled. Bah, digestion.

Smiling ruefully, she collected her net, "It was very nice to meet you Anjali, but hunger calls. Would you like to join me in the cafeteria?"

"Ah... no, thank you, but I may seek you out later, if you don't mind? I'd like to keep going here." Anjali wasn't ready for more people. Not yet. Soon, maybe, but one was enough of a step for today, and the path ahead looked quite inviting. "Thank you for the welcome, Greer - I'm in duplex #15, if you'd like to come and visit sometime for tea." She grinned and stood up. "Enjoy your meal."

With that, Anjali was gone down the path, further into the jungle, with still more to think about.

*-NEW ROLEPLAY-*

Emerwyn decided she couldn't avoid humanity any longer. No matter where she went, she was bound to run into someone, or someone into her. She sighed, recalling her last encounter. There was no way she'd be able to bear her room. It was far too gray, too small. So she found herself strolling through the outskirts of the jungle, almost waiting to run into someone. She wondered if she should visit someone. She'd received a lot of invitations... maybe she should take one of them up on it. There was Greer, Ambrose, Ian...

Ian was lurking around the forests edge sampling some of the leaves from the local flora. He had found that with the exception of apples and tomatoes he liked local leaves better than a salad and had thusly established a routine to suit his new diet. He was currently chewing on a large leaf when he heard footsteps from nearby. Swallowing he thought about who it could be, "Hello?" He called hoping he didn't scare whomever it was off. He picked another leaf wondering if he would have time to eat it before speaking again.

Emerwyn was a little starled at the voice, but not surprised. She placed the voice quickly as Ian's. Right on cue.
She walked towards him, actually rather eager to speak with him. He had been the one who brought her to the doctor, and been with her on the cliff. He'd seen the worst of her illness. She wanted to tell him about her visit with Moreau. Of course, she couldn't very well tell him she was better; in fact, she looked worse now than she had. But to tell him at least that she wasn't dead.

"Hello, Ian!"

Ian turned around when he heard her voice and saw Emerwyn, leaf still in hand. "Hello," he said quickly hiding the leaf behind his back. He wasn't sure how Emerwyn would react seeing him eat a mysterious leaf that could very well be poisonous. "H-how are you?" his voice was a little hesitant as he rapidly kept telling himself that he only saw Emerwyn as a friend, nothing more. If heart had started to speed up and he told himself more forcefully that nothing was ever going to happen between them and that he wasn't going to ruin the friendship he had. "I'm sorry I didn't contact you sooner, I rather hid out in my duplex for awhile." His hand went behind his neck and rubbed it a bit sheepishly, ignoring the presence of coarse hair there. Smooth, he told himself. Great way to make yourself look good.

"Don't worry about." Emerwyn could empathize with the need to be secluded. "It's perfectly understandable. It's the only place we can really go to be alone. And even then, I don't feel we truly are." She shuddered, thinking of the idea that Moreau could have hidden cameras.

Ian smiled a little, but it didn't quite reach his eyes. "I don't like being watched. It makes me feel like I'm a speciman at the zoo." His hand fell back to his side. "So,what did Moreau tell you about your illness." The worry was evident in both his voice and his gaze as he looked at Emerwyn. "If he gave you some bullshit excuse..." Ian was angry and his hands balled into fists at his side. Then he relaxed, "Sorry," he apologized again. "My emotions seem to be getting the better of me lately."

"Don't worry," she said, running her fingers through her hair. "Bullshit is exactly the word for it... I think."
She gathered her thoughts.
"He suggested that its all pshycosematic. It's all here." She tapped her temple.
But, every time she said that, the more she began to think that Moreau just might be right. The doubt showed slightly in her face.

Ian was glad that Emerwyn had explained what the word psychosematic meant, otherwise he would have been confused beyond all help. He caught the doubt in her eyes and took a step to close the distance between them and put a reassuring furry arm on her shoulder. Just friends, he reminded himself, but he couldn't help but feel a spark of joy at the contact. This is only a friend comforting another....only a friend. Could he believe that? Perhaps pver time he would, but for now he would have to control his impulses. "Moreau could be wrong. He doesn't have to be right just because he's a doctor."

"You're singing to the choir in that case." Emerwyn smiled. God, she hated cliches... What made her say that?
"I'd always mistrusted doctors. I've always turned to my herbal remedies in illness. And they'd always seen me through. Soon I rarely got sick at all... Until... well, until," she couldn't bring herself to talk about it anymore. "-until this."
