[[>.> bordem rears its ugly head again]]

A gust of wind, abnormal and flowing agaisnt the rest of the current. The wind moves and passes just as quickly as it started and blew. It carried with it the remnents of roads well traveled. Dust and dirt aplenty from the ground of Iwa. Even with some roads paved, much was still in distress and destroyed now. It was perplexing how things were the way they were.

No matter. Roy was here. He stood atop the Academy overlooking the training that Gig was sending some poor bastards through. He looked on and sighed a bit as he remembered his own days at the academy. His face was hidden within the neckline of his jacket. From his nose down seemed to vanished into nothingness. His hands were in his pocket and there was little anyone could see of his skin except form his nose up.

On his shoulder, a black mass shifted about slowly but not by much. Even extream movements didn't bother it that much...it was silent and calm...definatly not a good thing for this creature.

Hyuuga Asternyx cautiously peeked through the Academy gates, unsure whether to come through or not. Lady Yokou had clearly given the order to stay with Shikamori-sensei...but...she couldn't help it... Asternyx didn't want to wait for Yokou-sama to return and take her to the Academy. Finding it was simple enough, through the streets, a stranger was kind enough to point out to the child the direction of the village Academy. She really should go back... Maybe the gates... The small, red-haired Hyuuga girl gave a push, and the gates swung open. Light footsteps sounded across the courtyard and she seemed pleased that the front doors were unlocked. Asternyx pushed the door, cracking it open enough to slip in. Yokou-sama would be angry at her later...

Tappa tappa. Asternyx heard angry voices and winced, looking scared. Before she could run off and hide, she had tripped and fallen.

Hiei and baylonka each tried it a third time. They were still not succsesful. "what are we doing wrong bay? " asked Hiei as he sat on theground pondering the question.

Baylonka had used all of his chakra and currled up next to Hiei. He whined with displeasure and wished he could have performed better.

Hiei stoud and said " come on, lets get this right. " while puting his hands together to form a seal. The jutsu was a no go and he only ended up wasteing his chakra.

Baylonka on the other hand, rose up from the ground and compleated the jutsu for the second time. Hiei was almost ashamed to have his pet best him while learning their first jutsu. But the fact that he was his partner made it seem like an acomplishment for them both.

After what felt like an exceedingly long bout of miscommunication, Tao began to run his laps. Obviously, he had much to think about. Things such as "could crippled monkeys make better peers than his classmates?" and "I wonder what other punishments I'll get for my success?"

He nearly ran down a few of the late-commers as he raced by the doorway. The deadline for the rest of them was fast approaching. He'd feel almost embarassed for them if he were the only one that passed.

((hp=7, DC=10))

Tao grunted a bit after the first lap. Physical effort wasn't really his strong suit, though that made the fact that he mastered the jutsu first all the more embarassing for everyone else.

In sheer defiance of logic, Tao sped up. In a strange way, he wondered if he could outrun the pain that seemed to be creeping up his side. Right now, it was just annoying, but multiplied by five Tao wondered if he'd make it all the way.

Tao smiled a bit. Now on his third lap, he was feeling his second wind approaching. The pain seemed to have stalled, and he felt just as good this lap as he had previously.

As he ran by the training fields again, he was hardly surprised to see that no one had yet to make ANY progress beyond what he'd originally mocked, and was now reaping the benefits.

"If I get shin splints its your fault!" he shouted as he ran by them.

Asternyx slowly got up, creeping to the classroom door. Her eyes widened in surprise, and she barely had the time to dodge as the door suddenly swung open - instead she held out her hands in front of her, stopping the door from hitting her. The red-haired girl quickly lowered her eyes and froze in place, hidden behind the door. When the boy whom had come out, assuming from the teacher's tone to complete a punishment, was out of earshot, she gave a push and the door slammed back into its hinges. Well, it did look kind of odd...that the door was moving by itself into place.

Tao didn't believe in karma, but that didn't change the fact that he very nearly ate the words he just spoke. He bit his tongue as he ran along the rough rocky surface of the surrounding countryside, and groaned as the pain returned. The second wind appeared to be fading. Perhaps a third wind would present itself.

He coughed, groaned, and counted down. the laps

Now on his final lap, Tao was fairly sure that the exercize wouldn't kill him. However, two windless laps in a row had resulted in a much slower final pass around the building. The boy gasped for breath, feeling more than a little dizzy as he slowly made his way to the finish line.

As Tao stumbled the final few steps, he had just enough wind left in his lungs to ask "So has anyone else managed to finish yet?"

Tao giggled almost non-sensically as he fell to the ground soon after finishing his laps. He felt as though all his energy had been depleted, and quite honestly it was embarassing.

However, he was still top of the class, no doubt about that. Perhaps that spoke rather poorly of everyone else, given Tao's current state.

Tao rolled around in the dirt, conversing with the rocks. "You think you're bad because you're forged igneous minerals. Well I'll tell you what. I can totally substitute myself with you. How do you like them apples?"

The rocks' answer was infuriating. He threw it across the field.

Tao slowly sat up. Other than one character and his pet, the rest of the class appeared to be taking a distinctly mannequin approach to the jutsu.

"Perhaps... there exists a reality where doing absolutely nothing will be of benefit..." he mused... "And they're counting on this reality collapsing within the next several seconds to their benefit?"

He was truly boggled.

He laid back down once more, this time resting his head against his giant backpack. Almost on cue, the book he was reading fell from its precariously balanced position. Tao opened up to where he left off (just before they started getting into eigenvectors) and began to read once more.

Bit by bit, he felt his strength returning.

((So wait its chakra points that are being reduced instead of Hp? And did the DC get moved to ten or is it still 15? I'm sorry for being gone so long as well. I had to go out of town.))

Yumi failed at the jutsu again. It was more than frustrating that she had failed it about three times now. She was losing her determination. She looked over to Hiei to see that his pet was mastering it faster than either of them were. It felt degrading to be beat at it by an animal.
