While looking outside more, Maelthra nodded lightly at what Amuriel had in mind before going ahead to say what his agenda was.
"I'll probably stick around to train a bit. We're right by water so I don't have to worry too much if I accidentally set something on fire.. Then I'll probably work on the box again now that I have a small dagger.. How is your deer skin holding out by the way?"
The black winged elder then stepped closer to the water and dipped his head low to take a drink. The spray of the waterfall got his fur a little wet but he didn't mind. The cool liquid felt quite refreshing actually, and it just helped him feel even more awake and alert than moments ago.

Amuriel stepped next to him and leaned to take a drink as well. The water felt nice to her, and it refreshed her further from sleep. Wanting more, she stepped forward and submerged herself to her throat in the water.
"Aaah.. this is nice," she said, turning so she could face him and grinning sheepishly. "Hm?"
"Sounds like you're going to have a full day," she replied, smiling. "Well, I hope it is nice for you. Is there anything you want me to gather while I'm in the forest?"
She looked over to the square of hide lying just within the cave entrance. "It's been doing very well. It definitely serves its purpose, and I will take it with me today to hold the seedlings if I happen to find any.

"It's very very nice..." said Maelthra with a smile before stepping outside and squinting from the bright sun's rays.
"And thanks, I hope you have a good day as well, but I can't really think of anything that I need right now.. If you see anything that you think I'd like though, you're free to bring it back as well."
Chuckling softly, he took in a deep breath before walking further out along the water's edge, preparing himself to start training with his powers. He figured that he'd try and form something with the flames this time around rather than just waving them through the air as he normally did.
"And I'm glad the hide's working well. Sometime in the future I'm going to see if I can get something little better if you'd like."

"Alright," she responded, pulling herself from the water and carefully shaking her fur dry so as not to spray him as well. "Though I'm fine with the hide for now, I think."
She smiled and dipped her head low to shake her mane dry before shifting forms, shivering from the combined chill of the transformation and the water on her body, and walked over to pick up the square of hide. The small patch of skin had proved very useful over the past week, and she couldn't imagine having to go back to life without it. It amazed her how something so small and simple could prove to be so beneficial.
"Well, I'm off then," she said, heading back out of the cave. "I don't think I'll go very far, so if you need me, you could probably spot me easily from the sky, I think.."

Nodding lightly, Maelthra took in several deep breaths as he worked on getting his mind ready to focus on his powers. After doing this a few times, he glanced over at his companion in her humanoid form and smiled.
"Alright. Just be careful ok? I'll be here if you need me."
Nodding again, the elder faced the waters once more, taking a moment or two to think about Amuriel. He would miss her while she's out, but he knew she would be back. And he looked forward for when she returned with her findings later on. So for now he just began to clear his mind again, hoping that he wouldn't botch things up or anything like that.

"I will. You too, okay?" Amuriel replied, smiling and walking out with a wave. She didn't really want to leave him, but it would just be for a short while, after all. The plants would also help season his food and maybe even her own if she found other uses for them.
As she began to wander through the forest, she glanced from side to side in search of some of the edible herbs she knew about. She hoped she would find some close to the cave, for she didn't want to spend most of her day away from Maelthra. Over the past few days, she realized she had begun to grow very attached to him. It was nice to be around him, and nice for him to be around. She would miss him while she was out.
Thinking of him, she hoped he would do well at his training today. She wondered if he would manage to gain any new talents or abilities while she was gone, or if he would manage to finish the icebox.

"Thanks."
Before beginning, Maelthra wondered if Amuriel will be able to find what she was after on this outing. He certainly hoped so, since the sooner she found things, the sooner she could come back to him. The elder enjoyed her company greatly, and he couldn't imagine what it would be like if he had to be without her for a prolonged amount of time.
Shaking his head lightly to himself, he closed his eyes momentarily and took in a deep breath while concentrating on the air before him. Before long, a large ball of flames appeared, floating lightly in place. He took a moment or two to keep it there before concentrating on forming something with the fire mentally.
Slowly, a spike of flames grew from one side temporarily before being sucked back into the amorphous ball. It was at least a start on things... So he tried again, but his concentration slipped slightly, and a rod of flames flew out and struck the ground near him, charring the grass on the spot before returning to the ball.
Gotta keep trying...

Wishing that Maelthra was doing well on his training, Amuriel continued on through the forest. Occasionally she would spot a familiar plant near the side of the path, but most of the time, it was one that she was not needing. After a while, she began to wander off the path, through the more wild areas of the forest, hoping her trip would be more successful there.
As she fought her way past the brambles and wild bushes of the forest, she hoped she didn't encounter any of the other more poisonous inhabitants of Di'jai lingering somewhere near her heels. To be bitten by a snake or spider and fall ill was not something she wished to happen.
Her search was proving fruitful, though, and after a while, she had found several small herb plants to take back with her. She wrapped the roots in moist leaves from nearby trees and tucked them gently in her leather bag. Still, she was not quite yet satisfied, and she decided to search just a little while longer.

While Maelthra trained, he took care to try not to incinerate Amuriel's garden which was very close by. His efforts were not wasted, but he did have a few near hits. It was something she may notice upon her return, since there seemed to be several scorch marks fairly close to her little garden.
And despite this, he did make some progress. He was able to do enough to transform the blob of flames into what seemed like a spiked ball of some sort, with pointed "arms" sticking out here and there. That was enough for him at the time, since the amount of concentration he needed for that had begun to wear him down.
From there it was either to train with his sword or to start working on the ice box. Since he didn't really feel like training much more at the moment, he went ahead and shifted forms and went into the cave to work at the box again. A few days ago he had gathered up some more vine pieces, so he didn't need to go foraging for more tying materials. The elder nudged the bones here and there to test their sturdiness, and was satisfied with the outcome.
I wonder how Amuriel is doing with her foraging... he thought while picking up a long bone and holding it perpendicular against another on the box before beginning to tie them together.

Once she was finally satisfied with her findings, Amuriel began heading back toward the cave. By now, she was starting to get hungry too, so on her return, she paused for a while to eat some berries. Her hungry satisfied, she continued.
As she neared their home, she wondered how Maelthra was doing and how his training had went. Peering into the cave, she noticed him in elven form, working on the icebox. She smiled and suppressed a sudden, unusual urge before deciding to just move over to her garden.
"I'm back," she called, smiling over at him. "How did training go?"
Kneeling down, she noticed the scorch marks near her plants and blinked. He had gotten close a few times, it seemed, to destroying her little garden hold. Oh well, she thought, she could always get more plants where these came from, if he happened to set them on fire, but she couldn't replace Maelthra.
Smiling, she began to clear away a spot for the new herbs, and carefully, she started to plant them in the moist soil.

Hearing light footsteps from behind, Maelthra's spirits perked up considerably with the hopes that his companion was home again. Glancing over his shoulder, he smiled to see that his hopes were true.
"Welcome back! Training was a little shaky, but I got some progress done at least. How did the foraging go?" he asked while watching her kneel by her garden. From the looks of it, she had gotten something new to plant, but he couldn't be too certain. As he worked at his project, he had a sudden urge to get up and rush over towards Amuriel with a big greeting, but managed to suppress it.
He tightened up one vine to secure the bones in place before starting to tie another bone to the box. Three of the four sides were now completed, so he just needed to add the fourth wall, then the bottom to the object. From there he just needed the lid. All of this probably wouldn't be so possible if he never had contact with humans. It was there, after all, that he adapted his hands and fingers for nimble purposes...

"I managed to get several new herbs, so whenever they take root, we can tyr to see about using some," she replied, smiling and patting the earth around the new plants. The soil was moist enough to where she wouldn't need to water them, so satisfied with her work, she stood and turned back to him.
"How is the box coming along?" she asked, walking over and kneeling down in front of. To see him use his hands so nimbly and creatively was almost like watching a human, but the fangs and horns would never be things a human would possess, at least not a normal one.

"Ooh.. that sounds nice. I look forward to trying them out! And I'm sure some of them would go nicely with your food too..."
With a smile, Maelthra glanced over to the side as Amuriel knelt down by him to watch him work. He then looked back at his project and nodded lightly while tying more bones in place.
"Coming along nicely I think. I kinda got the hang of tying these things together so it's going a little faster than what I was doing before. If I work at it a lot, I should almost be finished with it today. But.. I'm starting to get a little hungry since I haven't eaten anything all day so far..."
Thinking a bit, he tilted his head on whether or not he should go hunting soon. And while he thought, something came to mind.
"Hey.. after I eat something... would you like to fly with me..? I know you've been kinda interested in my flight... and I should definitely be able to carry you in your elven form..."

"Then you should definitely take a break," she replied, smiling and sitting in front of him. She curled her legs up under her and blinked at his second comment. "Flying? I would... I would love it..."
She grinned and imagined how it would be to fly through the sky. She could only.. well, imagine. She hoped he would take her up... if he did, she was certain she would be in awe of it.

Smiling wider now, Maelthra finished tying up the bone in place before looking at Amuriel. He was glad that she wanted to go flying with him, as he wanted her to get a feel for what it was like. It was a rare feeling for a dragonfly to experience, and judging how the weather has been all day, it would be a very nice night for flying later on.
"Well then I'll take you into the air with me after I catch myself some dinner."
Chuckling softly, he shook the bone box gently before stretching out and getting up onto his feet. He stepped back and away from his friend momentarily to shift forms and grinned.
"I hope you'll enjoy it when we go.. It can be a really great feeling to be up there... the world looks so different from above."
