The large gaping vortex had closed, and those whom had not been trapped inside were left to rot in the middle of soul society. The Hollows had been slain and there was not one left; even those in training had been kind enough to kill a few. Their corpses polluted soul society, but Yamamoto was sure to send the troops out to take care of them. It seemed that half or more of the forest had been obliterated, from both a large energy blast and the vortex which had devoured all it neared. Close off, a mischievous man was chanting, and a rip appeared in the sky, he jumped through it without opening his eyes. His upside down stature hadn’t changed as he clearly had done this procedure enough that he was perfectly comfortable tweaking its execution.

Relatively close yet somewhat unnoticeable, Maroon had torn through dimensions and landed in Hueco Mundo; his home sweet home. He felt so at home in this desert, he missed it; the heat, the endless white, and ruins. However, captivating his attention a tree had unfortunately been caught in-between his boot and his blue jeans, but it didn’t do much other than make a rough sound on collision. He paid no mind to this inconvenience; there were more important things Maroon must attend to. He was troubled when he found some grass in his hair, and he was furiously trying to expel it from his crimson nest of hair. He clumsily fooled around, waving his arms like windmills trying to take care of it, his face clenched tight. He looked around, later deciding to use the tree as a comb, the grass had fallen out but his goofy behavior deluded his insight.

Maroon eventually wound up furious enough that he began to run around the desert, using his index finger as feet. He nearly ran into some random, from what Maroon could tell, infant soul reaper. He flipped himself, his feet on the bottom. He looked queerly at this infant. “WHAT! Is~ss your…purpose!? Child.” While his words chopped his voice’s pitch fluctuated. Cocking his head to the side, his tongue slipped out creating one Hell of an impression. He grasped his sheath that rested under his arm, just in case. Living in Hueco Mundo drives even those with power into insanity and paranoia.

His name was Maroon, his childish whim interrogated with fear of those who are strange.

((Whoever wants to be the person Maroon greets, feel free. I couldn't choose, you're all so awesome!))

Nirami's voice seemed a mile away in her pounding brain but she managed to turn her head and looked over at Nirami, her hands shaking. "No, I have to find Kyu!" She crawled forward looking around and then going for where she saw a bunch of Zanpaktou's lying and thought she caught a hint of purple on one of the hilts.

As she reached out and took the hilt of Kyubi's blade she sighed with relief her weary and abused body relaxing a bit. She slipped her friend back into her scabbard and then proceeded to begin crawling back towards Nirami. Her vision began to spin again however and she pushed herself a little farther before stopping and laying down into the sand. She reached up and touched the back of her head again unwisely and her face turned a little green around the edges.

(( I'll let someone else have the honor of being nearly tripped over and freaked out lol ))

((Makoto's relatively uninjured. I'll do it.))

The emerald-eyed Shinigami's focus was shattered by a near-collision with a man whose hair was the same colour as his own. If not for the vast difference between their other features and characteristics, one would think they were twins. The young man sat in silence for a moment, examining his newest acquaintance. Child? he thought. I am hardly a child. A moment of mental silence, then, Wait... He looks familiar...

Finally finding words, Makoto replied, "I have no idea why I'm here. Last I remember, I was fighting a swarm of Hollows with Tsubame. We all got sucked into that black hole. Next thing I knew, I woke up in this desert, along with my comrades. I don't even know where 'here' is. Unless..." He looked at his surroundings again. "Is this... Hueco Mundo? I've heard about it, but... Somehow, it seems more desolate than I had been told.

"Anyway, aren't you that guy who was using shunpo to appear in front of me and disappear just as fast? Who are you? You have a Zanpaku-tou, but you're not dressed like a Shinigami."

One of the most evident problems in the world, spirit or real, is a lack of communication skills. This was lost on the casually clad freak of nature as the shinigami attempted formal conversation, confusion included. In a desert such as Hueco Mundo, it is imperative to have an understanding of who you’re with, as they can hold your life in their hands. The orange-red headed man looked at the man opposing him with a look of misunderstanding engrained on his face. This conflict within the man caused a fit of giggles; he floated around the near sky, his hands clasping his stomach, trying to calm himself. He eventually lowered himself, head still cocked to one side.

Maroon looked promptly at the child, “WELCOME! To Hueco Mundo, my child. Land of the Hollows, my home.” Looking down upon this person, he noticed his training uniform. “So, Old Man Yama still makes the kids wear silly bibs. They will do you well, I sup~pose.” Maroon stuck out his tongue, and started hopping around. Several seconds later his body went rigid, his voice turned scratchy. “You’re going to die, child! They will EAAAAAT you!” Maroon’s eyes had been searching around, both turning independently of the other – his tongue extended and wrapped itself around one of the Hollow lizards. He devoured it whole. “It is kill or be - ” His voice trailed, and his body resumed its fluid movement from earlier. “Sorry about that! Chamo just doesn’t know when to shut up! Ha-ahaha, stupid Chamo. And for your… information. I aM, in fact the man who saveded you all in your pathetic spirit world. I am Marooooooon, and this is my partner, Ombra’marmitta. She’ll punch you in the face if you piss her off! You are curious children, I shall watch you!” Maroon sat down, floating in the air with his legs crossed. “I hope you will prove entertaining.”

His name was Maroon, he had made contact with Soul Society’s children.

Weary and weak, Charles moves among the survivors. This place is so foreign and so odd to him. Then again, it seems to be his exsistance- every thirty years or so he seems thrust into a new world. Keeping a hand on the hilt of his sword for strength, he continues his search. Not having been in the academy for more than a few hours he had made no real friends. Most don't pay any attention to him walking through.

Finally, he finds at least one of his people. Running up to the prone form of Hans, he takes a moment to realize how serious her head wound really is. "Hold still! This is serious, and we have to stop the bleeding . . ." Knowing an old trick from his days as a human, Charles draws Aitourensa. With a shred of what little reiatsu he has left, he creates a thread of ethereal spiderweb and places it on the wound.

In the physical human world, spiderwebs help to knit and help a wound clot. Hopefully in a world of spirits and reiatsu, a spiritual web could do the same to a shimigami . . .

"Ugh....son of a....." she groaned looking sick as he touched the wound her world spinning before her eyes. Her jaw began to tingle and her mouth filling with saliva as the urge to retch swelled up from her stomach and she didn't try to stop it, spewing what few contents of her stomach were left. She tried to wave Charles away to get him away from her head because it felt like he was making the pain worse.

The web did help though clotting up the blood and helping it to start scabbing over. She looked up and gave him a little smile, reaching up and whipping some of the retch away from her mouth with her sleeve and scooting away from it not wanting to possibly fall into it. "Thank you...."

((I'm going to experiment a bit with this post.))

There are two ways to react to a sudden change of pace. First is the reaction of fear. Fear of the unknown; not knowing what to expect. In the case of so drastic a transition as from the Technicolor world of Soul Society to the monochrome realm known as Hueco Munco, this is often the initial reflex. This fledgling warrior thought differently. His reaction is the second: curiosity. Wondering what will come next; prepared to enjoy the ride. This is generally the response to a transition such as from the slow days of Rukongai to the often eventful ones of the Academy.

At this stage, following Maroon's and Chamo's sudden alternation of control, Makoto's curiosity was at an all-time high. This was the first time he had this feeling since his second year at the Academy.

"This," he asked, "is your home? A man with a zanpaku-tou living in the land of the Hollows... So, does that mean...?" Makoto remembered being told about Vaizard by Ukitake-taichou, who visited the Academy last year. He didn't remember the context, but he recalled his description. Shinigami who somehow acquire the powers of a Hollow; those were the exact words spoken by the white-locked captain of Squad 13.

Naturally, this was Makoto's first time meeting a Vaizard.

Nirami had watched Hans move away, searching for her friend and her blade, her Zanpakuto. He frowned with half-lidded eyes as he watched her, and then made a small noise a she stopped moving, looking sick. From where he barely sat up on his own, he watched Charles come over and aid Hans, swallowing hard as his battle partner retched. He shifted a little, but found he couldn't move much any more to try and stand up, and crawling was out of the question.

Watching Hans thank Charles, Nir sighed softly with a slight smile. With Charles there, Hans could be helped and taken care of. His form slumped forwards a bit, carefully resting a bit without putting pressure on the arm he wondered why he still had. Licking his lips, he only then seemed to be noting that it was very dry- wherever they were. He hadn't quite thought it through enough to recognize through word of mouth that they were in Huecto Mundo. One of his classes his prior year had spoken something about it, but it didn't quite register...

Not sure if he wanted to sit, lay down, or stand, Homura answered for him. The armoured lizard appeared within his minds' eye and growled at him, coaxing him to stand. The hilt and blade of his Zanpakuto was used at first to help him get up, and then he leaned on it like a can, swaying unsteadily on his feet and almost falling over again. He had no idea where he had the energy to do this, but he was soon squinting and looking around farther with the vantage point of his height.

Swords were scattered everywhere, and other random bits of debree, as well as the form of the school a ways away, and... corpses. There were also lots of people about- those fortunate, or unfortunate, enough to have gotten caught within the portal. Nir resisted the urge to black out, or vomit, or something as he stood where he was and examined the landscape- or lack thereof. He was in pain, and he wondered if chopping off his arm right then would make any difference to anything- save for the fact that he'd be down an arm, instead of just having one seriously damaged one. He didn't need to lose any more blood, though, so that wasn't a very practical thought.

Swaying, Nirami shifted to stumble closer to Charles and Hans, breathing heavily despite the lack of distance or speed he'd traveled at. Pausing to calm his swirling head, he examined Hans for a few moments, noting where not to stand as to avoid the pool of stomach contents, and then he looked to Charles. "You two... okay?" he asked, his labored breathing causing him to almost gasp out the words.

A shy smile on his face, Charles just nods to Hans. "Not like I did much. But . . . you're welcome. Find your partner?" With a nod to the sword at her side, he insures that she understands his reference is not a person, but her weapon.

Looking up to Nirami when made it to them, Charles winces at the way he sees Nirami use his sword like a cane. Still, it is not his blade, so he doesn't feel he has a say. Resuming his kind smile, he speaks. "Yeah, we seem okay. I didn't get hit as hard as others. As for her . . . well, if we can find a medic, that would be a definite good thing. For now, though, I think she'll live."

She nodded up at him and gripped Kyubi tighter smiling a little. She had been terrified that she had been lost but she had found her. Hans looked up at the exchange between Charles and Nirami. She let out a little 'Huzzah!' when he said that she would live half-assing a thrust up into the air with her arm. She then looked closer at Nirami "I don't think I'm the only one who needs a medic" she mentioned pointing up at Nirami's shoulder "I don't think my little silk sash did squat for his arm....aside from keeping it from falling off." Gods she was tired..."Hey..." she gave a little tug on Charles hakama "I don't think we every really introduced ourselves, or did we and I just don't remember?" She could remember Nirami's name but couldn't recall the his.

With a shy smile, the man smiles and nods. "No, we didn't introduce each other, but then the situation wasn't very nice for that. Name's Charles!" Despite his age difference, he tries to be energetic and friendly to Hans. In the end it is almost comical and overdone as he only looks goofy in being enthusiastic in ways people his 'age' don't generally do.

Nirami had no qualms about using Homura to walk, because it had been the scaly, armoured beast who told him to in the first place. He let out a soft sigh in relief that Charles deemed Hans at least able to live from her wounds. He shifted and sunk to his knees, deciding that he had not seen around them, and was running through his head the description, and unable to avoid deeming it as Huecto Mundo.

Looking to Hans as she asked about introductions with the other male, he looked up at the goofy male, shaking his head slightly. It was different... "I'm Nirami." he stated quietly, and then paused to let Hans introduce herself. His head was still spinning a bit, and he kept himself conscious and aware by shifting Homura to rest properly beside him, and then began removing the remainder of his top to examine the extent of the damage. He gave a soft hiss as he pulled fabric away, removing the dirty strips of fabric that had been used as 'temporary' bandaging.

The first stab to his shoulder was rather darkly colored around the wound, bruising heavily. Nir wondered if the claws the Hollow had used had been blunt enough, or if it was just the force it had hit him at. And then the arm itself was cool to the touch, and there was a painful sensation around the socket where he'd dangled from the arm at one point in time within the battling. And then, the cuts on his other arm, as well as across his form, and the masses of bruises he knew he had...

Nirami sighed, finding another stab-wound that he'd overlooked because it was closer to his neck and chest. Yeah.... it was amazing the arm was still attached. He fixed his top back up again wearily, tucking his arm up front while biting his lip with the pain. If only they could remove the arm and replace it with something not-painful. That would be nice...

A voice in the air resonated throughout the small area: "All those who have survived and are already awake, please report to the front of the Academy. If there is anyone in your immediate vicinity who is still unconscious, please try to carry them with you as well."

"This is . . ." Tsubame began, definite that it was a faculty member addressing them directly, "Bakudo spell #77: Heavenly Rickshaws in Silken Air (Tenteikuura) . . ." Despite her year, Tsubame has sufficient knowledge of almost all the Kidou spells taught at the academy, even if she hasn't learned them personally yet.

She picked up a still-unconscious student near her and used shunpo to get to the Academy faster. Upon arriving there, she saw that most of the faculty members, numerous students and several Shinigami were already gathering on the outside of the Academy. Somehow, it felt like deja vu to her, as if the year had not even begun yet.

Charles goofy attitude made her smile and laugh which turned into a cough. The whole attitude of how he introduced himself reminded her terribly of her brother, it was something that he would do....except he'd probably be calling her maggot or some such and telling her to walk it off. She watched as Nirami introduced himself and then took it upon herself to introduce. "I'm Hans, its nice ta meecha" she grinned up at him. She looked behind her a bit and watched Nirami start inspecting his shoulder.

The entire look of the arm and shoulder made her queasy again so rolled over and picked herself up keeping her eyes averted from it. And tried her hand at standing unsteadily on her feet. She kept looking at the ground even as the loud voice sounded for them to assemble. "Oh come on, you've got to be kidding me!" god damn....might as well get going "Coming?" she asked them with a sigh as she began to shuffle towards the school.

As he turned to confront the one calling him a hollow, to avoid further complications, a voice roared over the crowd. The gist of it was "...please report to the front of the Academy..."
"look. I am a shinigami, and i don't have time to explain the mask. Now we need to report to the academy with everyone else." He growled towards the boy.
Normally Kiyoshi would just use shunpo to get to the academy, and would be there in a matter of seconds, however his body wasn't exactly "up to the task". Sheathing his zanpakuto, Kiyoshi let out a sigh of relief Glad your so light in your sealed form sairensa. He walked over to a group of heavilly wounded shinigami. he recognized a girl called "hans" whom he had seen on multiple occasions. up until now, they never actually met formally. The others however, he did not recognize. . A middle aged man that he couldn't remember seeing on the grounds before was one of the two. Not many elder spirits were let into the academy these days, but this man had to be either a first year or a transfer student. Kiyoshi suspected the latter to be the truth. the other had a stranger appearance than even kiyoshi himself. He was pale and had rings around his eyes. Kiyoshi would be tempted to think this man must be sick, however from what he had experienced in soul society things are often not as they seem.
"Hey!" he shouted, trying to sound as enthusiastic as possible. "Need any help? I'm weak from fighting, but it looks like you might be in far worse a condition." he leaned towards hans, whom he decided had the worst injuries, and offered his hand. whom he decided had the worst injuries.
