Hello everyone. My name is Raian, and I've been using RPG Maker for about four years now. I've used all the Enterbrain makers, and I've found VX to be my favourite.

Hello! I'm Slor. I use the Maker series, have done so since RPG Maker 95. Absolutely adore RPG Maker XP, and pretty much use that exclusively now.
I'm also an artist and musician, and I like to use my own graphics and sounds rather than the ones that come with the programs I use. smile
Ummm... Let's see, I'm currently working my way to a college degree, part-timing a job at Petsmart and classes at a community college. I love math, art, music, and animals. My favorite game of all time is Star Ocean: The Second Story, I just love JRPG's in general though. The games I make usually reflect that!

Blue here.
Currently, I've taken to trying to learn Game Maker and properly use the interface to make a quality game.
My past experience with RPG Maker 2000 isn't overly grand, as I made a crappy game on that, so I'm hoping that I can eventually put Game Maker to better use.
I also dabble in graphic arts, mostly with pixel art to my own project.

Ello! My name is Voodoorobert. I am the producer and admin of The Beheaded Studios. I've used almost all the RPG Makers(RPG Maker 2000 I haven't used....yet). I have been playing video games pretty much ever since I was born. At the age of 14 I decided to start an organization to create video games. Wasn't very successful til around 16 years old. I am very insane and random so please don't be to surprised when I *twitch* act like that *twitch* xd

Hi, I'm Christien. I'm actually 49 and used to work in software development, but not writing games (programs for banks and universities). I dabbled in making games before there were good graphics, game engines or programs that helped write the code.
I used Basic, C++ and Java. So I'd like to get started with some of the new tools. What are people using that you 'd recommend?
Also, I'm looking for small groups of game programmers. People who are doing this for fun or to get a start up company going. Know anyone that may be pulling together a group of 3 or more to work on a project?

Welcome all! @Christienjinn: I'm afraid I'm not personally familiar with using any game creation programs that use C++ or Java (though if I remember correctly, Sphere uses JavaScript). If you don't mind having to learn new programming languages, Game Maker is quite versatile and is one of the more popular game creation tools. Aside from it's easy drag & drop interface, you can also use it's programming language known as GML (which has a similar syntax to Java) for more advanced operations. It also has 3D capabilities, though they're quite difficult to handle due to being a form of simulated 3D rather than true 3D. If you're looking to make 2D RPGs in particular, I recommend either RPG Maker XP or VX (depending on which graphical style you prefer). Both can use RUBY scripts to greatly enhance and expand basically any part of a game's system. Though even if you don't want to learn RUBY, there's still a rather large quantity of scripts made by other people available.
