Suddenly, the captain was on her feet. "You son of a b***h! Wake the ******** up!"she shouted, as Li kicked over the barrel she had been sitting on with a noise that could easily have been mistaken for the racket from the sky far above them. At once she leaned up against the beam that the hammocks were suspended on, and slid down it until she sat on the wooden floor. She wasn't upset anymore, now she was just plain pissed off. At him. At herself. At the ocean. At. ********. Everything.

Allen blinked a little awkwardly, from the combination of Li's outburst...And the fact that the fever had suddenly gotten its extra push and started to drop.

He was panting slightly, out of breath from excitement and want of food, as they made their unspoken way up one of the gangplanks lining the dock, stepping carefully over the narrow wooden board. Cael glanced down into the murky green-gray water below, looking back up just in time to avoid bumping into his new employer.

“Find any…” A gruff looking tall man to their right paused a moment as he spotted Cael. “So you did find someone today, Li!” He seemed surprised. Li, so that was the Captain’s name...

“That’s right. He’s going to be our new Navigator,” he replied with a smirk. “Welcome aboard the Coup D’etat, Mr—” the captain paused, seemingly just now coming to the realization he had not asked the other his name. “Well, that was forgetful of me… Introductions of course,” laughed Li, apparently feeling a bit awkward. “This is Mr. Fin, my first mate,” he gestured to the gruff man, and as the captain’s coat was removed, and as the hat lifted for a moment so long strands of hair could fall, he… “I’m Lina, Li for short. Lina Nox,” …was revealed to be a she. “And you?”

Cael was caught off guard; he had not even considered that the captain who had offered him a position might be female, and for a flickering instant he remembered the old adages about it being bad luck to have a woman on board a ship. He heard the saying in his head with his father’s intonation, however, and he rebelliously stepped forward to stand fully on board the ship. “My name’s Cael Azue Miano,” he said, giving his full name without thinking; a second later he realized he would have preferred to hold onto only his first, maybe the middle. It was too late now, however, and Cael smiled hopefully, tentatively, as Lina finished the introductions, thinking that maybe he would find something here to attach to it that he could be proud of.

I was your son.

...I was your son?

Cael stirred slightly, suddenly aware of the heavy pounding in his head. His thoughts seemed disjointed, confused, and a vague memory of noise and confusion tugged at his attention.

Where was he, anyway? The Coup D'etat, of course. Where he had been for the past year. Below deck. His head hurt. There had been a storm... They were drinking. He had fallen somewhere, into the water? That didn't make sense. Besides, he was still too hot, not cold...

...I was your son?

"Captain...Captain its working, Cael's fever is breaking,"said Allen, honestly a bit shocked at this point, but happily so. The virus seemed to be weakening...He could feel it starting to lose its grip on the navigator. Slowly, that much was for sure, but there it was...

"Wait, say what?"Li blinked. Hadn't they been having trouble with it just a few minutes before? Where had this sudden turnaround come from? Not that she wasn't grateful, but damn...Unexpected. "You're kidding...What happened?"she asked, watching Allen's hands closely as he shifted them to counter new areas the infection was trying to attack.

"I'm not sure...It just...It's going down,"he replied, with a warm, slightly angelic looking smile. It was no wonder that the crew had deemed him the Angel of Remedy right from the moments he started treating the crew after their first major battle.

"M...mm." Cael stirred slightly, regaining consciousness although still slightly confused and too hot. It felt like he was back below deck. Had it all been a dream, then? It seemed like it; he had had weirder ones before, especially after a round of drinks.

He heard voices now, dimly, and was able to identify them even if he couldn't make them out word for word. Why in the world were Allen and the Captain there? Had something happened? To Sain, perhaps. He remembered that Sain had been drinking with him and had come out of it rather the worse for the wear. Maybe he was hung-over. Maybe it was morning. Maybe he was still asleep.

It was time for a sigh of relief. Li relaxed a little, glad that things were turning around...Well, sort of. Above deck the storm still raged on, and she knew that...But she also knew Fin was just as capable of handling the ship as she was, and for the moment, it was in everyone's better interest if she stayed below deck...At least until Allen got a chance to relieve her quite tired muscles, but she wasn't going to ask him to do that...Especially not while Cael was still even a little sick.

"Captain, I'm not sure how much I'm going to be able to do before we get into port...But until then, we need to keep him separated from the rest of the Water Element members of the crew. He'll be contagious a while yet..."Said Allen, knowing he had to address the matter soon...He figured that immediately after they cleared the storm, everyone would want to rest.

"Just let him sleep in my quarters...I'll stay down here,"Lina said, with a slight wave of her hand, not thinking it much of a problem...Of course, if he touched any of her things, Cael was a dead man.

"Huh...?" Cael was awake now, more or less, and he looked slowly between the two of them, having to fight hard to prevent sleep from reclaiming him. "What's..." His eyes closed and he nodded before bringing his head back up with a jerk that made his stomach churn. "'s goin' on?"

Li smiled a bit...He was awake...Then she got to her feet and smacked him. "You idiot, you fell overboard,"she said calmly, with the smile still crossing her face. The captain wasn't going to just let him off, but...for now, she was going to let him have some peace.

Allen blinked. Had that really just happened? He knew he shouldn't be surprised, since after all, they did have Lina Nox as their captain...and for better or for worse, she was nuts...Thankfully, she was just nuts enough to keep them all safe, happy, and a family.

((Bleck. Short.))

Cael blinked at her, surprised, and winced. "O-ow." Well, he was more awake now... And had he really fallen overboard? That would explain the wet clothes. ...Why had he not noticed them before? He shivered slightly, their chill starting to seep properly into his skin. That was a change from the heat, but not quite welcome: it was clammy, sweaty.

Her smile grew into a grin for a moment. Well, she wasn't asking for a miracle, he was sick after all...'Ow' was better than nothing. "Stupid kid...You scared me damnit,"she said, with an obviously relieved tone in her voice. Visibly she relaxed a little bit, sliding back down the support beam once more, and sitting down on the floor...Damn she was tired.

"Cael, how are you feeling?"asked the blond healer, just glad to have a conscious patient. It was easier when the ill party was awake, namely so he could ask questions about the symptoms...Specifically where they felt the worst, and anything that could be done to make him more comfortable until they made it into port.

Cael looked between them once again, obviously still confused. "...Cold." He finally said. "And wet. Can I get a change of clothes?" He was having some difficulty focusing on his words and task at hand, and it took an effort to add, "I'm thirsty."

"I'll get you something to drink. Allen, get him changed while I'm gone,"said the captain as she got to her feet again. Blah...The ship bucked slightly as a wave hit it, sending water all over the deck and down the stairs. Li swayed slightly on her feet, feeling a touch uneven, but not minding so much for the moment...She'd rest after Cael was well taken care of, and the ship was out of the storm. She noticed Allen giving her a look that possibly suggested he thought she should have stayed sitting and rest...but one glance from her silenced those thoughts instantly.

"Yes captain..."He said, not liking the idea of her being up and about after their little unscheduled swim, but he knew better than to argue...He could tell she was going to do whatever she wanted whether he let her or not. He waited until Li was heading into the hold for fresh water, before turning his attention back to Cael. "Come on, you need to stand up, just for a minute"He said, helping the Navigator to his feet.

"Huh...?" Cael slipped his legs out of the hammock and slid unsteadily to his feet, the motion harder than normal. He closed his eyes, leaning back against the wall as the world spun dizzily about him. Swallowing dryly, he wished that he had something cool to drink already; standing was making him feel sick.

Cael helped passively as Allen peeled off his soaked clothing and helped him into a dry pair, sinking gratefully back down when he was done. He wanted to ask about the storm or about what was going on, but at the moment it was enough to just focus on holding himself together. His curious drive had been rather stilled by the situation.

Just moments after the Healer helped Cael back into his bed, Li made her way back up from below deck. With her she carried a small cask that had at one point contained wine, but had long gone dry. Thus, she filled it with crisp clean water, hoping that would be enough to sate the Navigator's thirst. She set it down on the floor near the two crewmen, grabbing a cup from somewhere or other, and filling it with the cool liquid.

"Come on, have a sip,"she held up the cup for Cael, wanting to make sure personally that he was getting enough water; After that fever, she hardly doubted that he would be dehydrated.

Allen wasn't entirely happy to see the still worn out captain carrying a cask full of water up from below. Normally, he wouldn't have minded, as Lina Nox was certainly capable of carrying even larger barrels longer distances...But his physician side told him to be annoyed that she was doing it in such a condition. But, that was how she was. The healer realized long ago that for the most part, Li would do what she wanted as long as it didn't hurt any of the crew...As this only left her health at risk, clearly the woman thought it was no one's business but her own.

Cael snatched the cup from her hands although his own shook so badly that he needed to use both of them to lift it to his mouth and even so managed to spill a good bit of it on himself. He did not mind; as chilled as he had been, the touch of the cool water felt good on his skin. He gulped it as quickly as he could, closing his eyes as he felt--for a fleeting second with each swallow--normal again.

"Cael, don't chug it. You'll make yourself sick...er,"Said Li, but it was already a bit late for that. Regardless, the liquid did seem to bring him back from the brink for the moment, which helped the Captain to feel a little better. She refilled the cup, handing it back to him but this time hanging on; She wasn't going to have pulled him out of the ocean just so he could choke and drown while drinking water too quickly.

He recognized this symptom. Clearly, the water manipulator before Allen felt he was lacking his element...A sign of advancement of his illness. But that was alright; even if it was as progressed as this new indicator made it out to be, they knew what it was now, and he was controlling it.

"Captain, we're going to need to let Cael have more water than just that soon enough. Once we get out of this storm, I suggest that one of the Water Manipulators desalinate some for him, or the ship's supply probably won't last,"Stated the Healer, trying to think of what the rest of the preventative measures were.
