Donovan studied the saddle for a moment taking in the design and how it was made. Being practical he thought it was more orated than he would have preferred. However, it was certainly of better craftsmenship than he had seen.
"I think it'll do," Donovan replied after a few more moments of thought.

Cindy giggled, "Yes, something like that."
She silently aplogized to her mother and other siblings. It was one thing if she was a bird person, but angels were well angels. That was completely different.

Ulani smiled and sighed with relief. "I'm glad," she murmured. She headed for the door once again. "It's all we have ... I know, it's a bit more ornate than is necessary ... but you have to understand, it was elven made."
To most people that explained it all.
Ulrich was already waiting for them outside with the horse when they exited the house, and he wasn't alone. Aliya stood beside him, holding the reins of the horse, and despite her size the horse was so large that it made her look very small.
"This one's very fast and very strong," she told Donovan proudly. "I helped choose his parents!"
Ulrich chuckled. "She may be just a child, but she knows as much about horse breeding as any of us do, now. At first we just brought her along with us because we didn't have anyone to watch her, but she just sort of ... grew into the business."
Adonai giggled again and settled next to Cindy so that she could continue the story. He wanted to learn more about the bird people who lived up in the clouds!

"The angel, like the rest of her kind lived on floating islands in the clouds, with tall buildings that allowed them to leap from and fly," Cindy explained, "And they always stayed up there."
She paused a bit waiting to gather her thoughts.
"But there was a land on the ground too, but the little angel had never been there, and she was always curious. Every day she would look over the edge down to the world below wondering what it was like.

He studied the horse once they were outside, and could hear the pride in Aliya's voice.
Donovan grinned at that, "Bright kid," he replied.
He meant it too, she certainly was bright, as any of the children who grew quickly. Besides, it was an accomplisment to have a horse fast and strong when it was that person who chose the parents.
"Thanks, this will more than do."

Ulani moved swiftly to saddle the horse, taking the time to do it properly and made sure the horse was comfortable.
Ulrich smiled. "It is among the better of our horses," he agreed. "Ironically it was one breeding I wouldn't have thought of. I think Aliya's got a better eye than I do."
Aliya giggled and pounced on Ulrich's back, throwing her arms around his neck and wrapping her legs around his stomach. "Someday, when I'm bigger, I want to breed the best horses in all the Four Lands!"
Adonai ran his hand along the floor as if he himself were looking over the edge of a cloud himself.

"Well, you're well on your way," Donovan murmured.
It looked like she had a love for horses, which wasn't a bad thing really. He smirked at the thought.

"Then one day, she was playing with a toy ball, small enough to fit snuggly in her hands and so white that it glowed. While she was playing it slipped out of her hands and bounced along the ground, rolling off the cloud's edge and into the world below."
Granted Cindy knew that if a ball really had fallen that far down no one could get it back, since it would have been destroyed on impact. Nevermind the ground it was on, but it was she supposed a magic ball or something.

"Oooh!" Adonai giggled. "Did her can f'y an' go get it?"
Aliya grinned. "I'll be good someday," she replied proudly.
"At any rate," Ulrich put in, shifting Aliya on his back so that she wouldn't fall, "if there's anything else you need ... just let us know."

"Well, she tried to fly," Cindy began, "She went off the edge and fluttered her wings trying to fly, and she did. Down to the ground very unsteadyily until she came close enough that she tumbled the rest of the way to the ground and into a dark forest."

Donovan nodded in understanding, "This will do for this trip," he replied.
He set down his bag and took out a fe things, putting them into inner pockets and up his sleeve.
"I'm not going to try anything too big, rather not bite off more than I can chew on the first go."
It was just as much as a scouting mission as it was to actually do work.

Ulani moved to stand next to Ulrich and smiled. "Well, you'd probably best get going then," she said to Donovan. "Like I said, weather looks good for a while yet, but the storm season is on its way."
"I was out in a storm once," Aliya pronounced solemnly from Ulrich's shoulder. "It scared the-"
She broke off and looked at Ulani, then amended, "It was scary."
She was definitely her mother's daughter.
Adonai's eyes grew wide. "In 'a dark?" he gasped. "I don' wike 'a for'st in 'a dark! Was i' scawwy?"

Donovan coughed trying not to snicker at what sounded like possible profanity coming out of Aliya's mouth. He made a note that he too should watch what he said around the child.
"That being the case," Donovan replied as he strapped the last of his stuff on, slinging the bag over the shoulder he mounted, "I'll go. Cindy should be fine, she's a young adult."
Though she didn't look like it.

"It was sort of scary," Cindy replied, "It was only dark becaue the trees were really big and there were a lot of leaves blocking out the sunlight below. Sometimes there were rays of light, but not a lot. I don't think the little angel noticed though, because she had never been on the ground before it was too interesting."
At least to Cindy that's how she would have felt.

Adonai's eyes grew wide and he lay on his stomach on the floor and made himself comfortable so that he could listen better.
"I'm sure she'll be just fine," Ulani agreed. "She's got Adonai playing with her already, that's something. He's a bit shy, in case you hadn't noticed."
"Anyways, safe travel," Ulrich grinned.
From Ulrich's back, Aliya waved. "Good luck!" she told him cheerfully. "Kick the bad guy's aahhh..... backsides!"
