Aria looked at the man, taken aback by the way he spoke. He was much older than the others, with a long beard and an ancient face. Aria smiled. "And you are our Gandalf the Grey, are you? Well, I suppose in a place like this we'd have to end up with one."

She paused, her expression becoming thoughtful. "Actually, it is hard to put to words exactly what a car is; they're so ingrained in our culture." She thought for another second, then sighed. "Well, I'll do my best. A car is an invention that transports people from place to place. They're sort of like.." She trailed off, then remembered an explanation from one of her books. "Horseless carriages. They move much faster than humans are capable of moving by themselves, which naturally can make accidents very severe."

Monollius raised an inquisitive brow at her statements, but waited until she had finished. He still wished to press the matter, but believed she had done a fair job. He did not take it to be a very great surprise. Horseless carriages? They were manageable even by some of the weakest mages. The idea of being within one going fast enough to kill someone, though, was insane.

"For the record," the Arch-Sage replied, "I am Arch-Sage Dominus Ollivander Omnicus Monollius. I command the Order of the Five Magicks. I do not know of a man named Gandalf, however. By what means am I similar to this man, if you don't mind my inquiry?"

And now they're ignoring me again. . . Doragon sighed.

Aria grinned. "Not at all, Arch-Sage Dominus Ollivander Omnicus Monollius. Gandalf the Grey is just a character in a book, but the basics of the character have become something of a motif in fantasy literature, the wise old man, often with considerable magic at his disposal, who acts as something of a guide and/or teacher." She tried to shrug, but her wings made the movement awkward. She shot them a mutinous glare, then looked back to the Arch-Sage. "Since we seem to be in a world populated by creatures and characters from that genre, it makes sense that we'd end up with a Gandalf sooner or later."

Monollius couldn't help but chuckle lightly. "Ah, well yes, it does seem I have fallen into that wise old man's footsteps. It was quite incidental, however, I assure you. Ah, I even fail to remember what exactly brought me back to these plains." He turned to gaze out over the gently rolling plains, his hand reaching for his beard unconsciously. "Ah, yes, the beauty of it. Lady Siri I'm sure can recall my thoughts on it." He sighed softly.

"And as if to spite me, a multitude gathers. Oh the irony, right?"

Aria looked out at it, and swallowed a small lump in her throat. "You're right. It shouldn't have people in it; it's almost like being even minimally populated defaces it." Suddenly she realized what she was saying and turned pink, raising her chin haughtily. "Not that it can get much worse than it is. Look, I'm asleep on my kitchen counter; I'm actually astounded that I haven't been shaken awake. Before that happens, you all need to know what the Crazy Faeries expect of u-"

*~*

"Aria! Are you okay?" came Whitney's uncertain voice.

Aria sat up, blinking, then scowled. "Of course. You couldn't have waited another 30 seconds, could you?"

Siri stood a bit off from the group, sighing as two of them left. Presumably, they had to get back to their real lives. Idly, she wondered when she would be awoken. It seemed that time passed differently here than on Earth, and for all she knew, it could have been a week since she'd fallen asleep. She shook her head as she stared at the spot where Aria had been standing, muttering, "She forgot the beard. The old guys with magic always have a really long beard."

With another hearty sigh, she flopped down to sit on the ground in an exasperated manner. She eyed Monollius warily. "So, you're pretty sure you aren't really some figment of my imagination trying to tell me I need to study for my Chemistry final, right?"
PostPosted: Sat Nov 17, 2007 8:49 pm

Monollius seemed to take the disappearance in stride, as if he did not notice, or he simply did not care. In his mind, somehow, it simply overlooked the change, and would resume conversation with Aria as soon as she returned.

He chuckled lightly at Siri's question. "While I am familiar with chemistry, I am most certainly unaware of any sort of
final. What is this final, exactly?" The idea of some sort of ending, or conclusion to a topic of science was very intriguing, and Monollius couldn't help but pursue it avidly.

((well, if when people arn't vonnected with their other selves, they just disappear. that shows a link between the two bodies. therefore when they are linked and one goes, the person become comatose and semi-transparent instead of just diappearing. veyr convoluted reasoning behind it all.))
Kat sighed as the bus dropped her off opposite house. she was distracted about his world in her dreams, and what it all meant. the person also crossing the street barged past her at a run, and she fell, knocking her head against the curb.
*~*

Kat sat up straight, eyes alight with panic, then calmed her breathing. she noted everyone was pretty much as they had been when they woke up, with the exception of the winged girl, who had disappeared. 'hmm, wonder what the difference in times is for this place.' she thought, noting that she could still feel TK, though she was now dormant. "so, anything big been discovered while i was awake?" she asked, slightly curious to catch up. "and yes, this is kat speaking, not TK."

~

Kats mother, fran, sat by the bedside of the hospital table. kat had been knocked unconscious by the fall and while there was hope of her waking up, it was unlikely without a serious operation. the doctor told her that they'd wake a week, and if she hadn't recovered by then, he would give the operation the go-ahead.

((I'd say we've been talking all the way through the night and it's the next morning, how about everyone else?))
"And now the only person who has said something to me is gone." Doragon muttered after Aria dissappeared. "No, nothing new was discovered, Aria just spoke about the similarities between Monollius and some strange man named Gandalf who she says is from your world." Doragon knew that Kat would aknowledge what he said and then the conversation would continue without anyone talking to him so he began playing catch with himself with an orb of wind.

Kat nodded in acknowledgment, then looked at monollious "hey, come to think of it, there are some similarities.." she wondered if anybody else would note that she'd woken up again, then she looked back at him playing catch with a transparent orb. "come to think of it, im not sure we've been properly introduce. im Kat" she said, extending a hand.

Siri blinked, wondering how this world could not have finals. Maybe it wasn't so bad, after all. "Well, it's this really big test that covers everything you've learned in school that year." She gave Monollius an odd look. "You do have schools here, right? Because if not, then that's just awes-"

*~*

Siri shot forward in her bed as her alarm clock went off. She looked at the machine in frustration, before hitting it randomly, trying to shut the damned thing off. Instead, it just seemed to get angry, the beeping noise becoming louder and more frequent. Swearing, she threw the covers off herself and fell to the floor, searching the wall for her electrical outlet. Finding it, Siri pulled the plug connecting her clock to the wall. She jumped when the annoying beeping still sounded, and a little voice in the back of her head advised, It has back-up batteries...

Groaning, Siri pulled the accursed machine off her night stand and groped the bottom of it, searching for the little catch that would mean she had found the battery compartment. Her fingernail caught on something, and she simultaneously pushed and pulled upwards. A few seconds later, the batteries were lying of the floor beside her, and Siri's mother was banging on her bedroom door, asking her what all the noise was for.

Groaning, Siri hung her head. It was going to be one of those days. She briefly wondered what the chances of her being able to play sick and stay home for school were. Sighing, she gathered the pieces of her alarm clock, put them on the night stand, and got ready for the day.

Doragon caught it again and let it dissappear and he shook hands with her. "Doragon Akuma, pleased to meet you." Doragon said, trying to be polite but he knew how pathetic his attempts at smiles were and so he didn't even try.
PostPosted: Mon Nov 19, 2007 11:01 pm

"nice to meet you to Doragon." she said, releasing his hand. "so are you one of the people from here or 'earth'? it seems a few people, myself included, have, whilst sleeping, been transported into this world, into other peoples bodies. i mean, normally my hair isnt green." she said with a slight smile.

"I'm from here." Doragon said, not really knowing what else to say.
