I'm going to make you dinner and do the work I need done, while you can choose what you want to do with your free time. What do you think of that?"

Hiro displayed the hints of a smile on his face. ""i think that's foolish. i saw you spend the last of your money on me. you can make dinner if you want, i was never good at that. but i will do the work you require done."" "I sure hope she let's me get the hard work done, a pretty lady like her shouldn't be doing too ruff of work."

"It's no trouble at all," she said lamely. "I've gotten used to the hard work." She tried to smile, but it failed. "Oh, who am I kidding. I'm exhausted. I guess you could, if you didn't mind, that is."

Hiro's smile grew a little bigger for a second. ""You have a different style thats for sure. Most people would be setting me to work on the way home. I don't mind working, it's good for me. So what do you want me to do."" The smile completely slid off as the sound of a whip could be heard in the distance. Hiro looked to his left and saw a man cruelly whipping 3 slaves. The man brought the whip down 2, 3, 4 times on the first one. He seemed to have an evill grin on his face. Hiro stopped following Anex and walked straight towards the man. As the slave driver went to go after the next man Hiro grabbed the whip before it could hit the poor slave. He wrenched it out of the slave driver's hand and slashed the weapon of cruelty across the corrupted man's legs. He then punched him in the face with a recounding crack. He then turned around ran up to Anex and pulled her into a side alley. ""We're gonna take the long way if you don't mind.""

Despite the fact that she was being pulled into a dark alleyway, Anex was grinning. "I don't mind at all. That was very brave and heroic." She stopped. "But won't he want retribution? And those poor people... they're the only ones there to take it out on. We have to go back!" She started to go back out of the alley.

Hiro grabbed Anex and pulled her back. He looked into her eyes and said in a strained voice,""Two things miss, one it's not brave or heroic, just the right thing to do. And 2, that man is not getting up. Those slaves should be running already. Chances are only half of them will get caught. If you go back someone will recognize you and you will be made a slave like me. So your not going back, even if i have to carry you, you are Not going back.
I'd rather not lose the first piece of good luck i get. So don't go back there. Please."" Hiro smilied inside, humans were so troublesome sometimes.

Anex stared at him, trying to think of something to say. Finally, she said, "If you really don't think there's anything else that can be done, I trust your judgement." She lowered her voice and added,"Sometimes doing the right thing and being brave coincide.

"Well," she bit her lip, "simply put, they're dead. My parents, I mean. But it's more complicated then that." She continued walking in the direction of some older apartments.

Hiro made no signs to reply again. And walked in silence behind her. the only thing he did was keep looking around. He seemed to look at everything at once. And he seemed very interested in whatever was ahead of them.

"Well, here's home sweet home," Anex said, gesturing to a squat apartment wedged between two new divisions of the complex, seemingly still under construction. Workmen observed them from perches of various heights on the building, and others carried loads of bricks and cement through the inside of the building.
Anex heard a catcall from one of the workmen, as she fumbled to open the door. "Well, now you know what you're going to be working on," she said, frustrated that the warped door was jammed in a door frame that was too small for it. "It's how we pay the rent; I worked, and we get to stay here for free."

Hiro's eyes grew very distracting, making her lose her train of thought. "My brother? He should be around here somewhere..."
She looked confused. "That's odd. Normally he's out here waiting for me, all excited about what he learned at school today."

Hiro moved his gaze from her face so it wasn't so distracting. ""Maybe he's in the next room?"" Hiro still doesn't move his gaze too far from her.

"Right," she said, sounding worried. "I'll go check." Anex rammed her shoulder into the door, jarring it enough so that she could slip through. She looked in the meager quarters of the apartment, reporting back to Hiro upset. "He's not here, but his shoes and his bag are. We've got to find him!"
