I sold my piggy earlier today, got $2.25/lb, so altogether about $500-$550 and about a $200 profit. smile
I did very good ^^, but I'll try harder. Also I'm getting a breeding cow next year ^o^. I'm gonna have a pretty herd of cows smile

Cows are too expensive to have on our property. They'd have to be fed and they'd take up paddocks which would otherwise be left to grow for our horses. We used to have cattle though... One got so scared once of me riding my horse that it ran full pelt into a gate... Luckily the gate wasn't latched as otherwise it would have had a huge concussion. Instead it only got a blood nose.
Stupid cattle. But they sold for a nice profit and paid the rates for the property that year. smile

Thanks, yeah cows are extremely expensive to take care of, since hay prices >< $10 a bale sweatdrop -sigh- and rising because so much corn is being grown now razz .
Had an awards ceremony thing this morning and Thursday at the fair they had this judging competition thing. Well I've never judged an animal in my life or even know how to, and almost everyone except two people knew what they were doing to. Two kids took 4th and 2nd in pig judging from my school. They had never done it either. One person took 5th in cow judging and they had done it before. And the one that took 4th in pigs, the one that took 5th in cows, and me got 2nd high FFA biggrin I got a pretty folder thingy smile I had no clue what I was doing, but it was fun  I'm gonna sign up for the official judging team now I think ^^ I'm extremely happy ^^

Let me understand this correctly, Dolly- you get judged for your judging skills about animals? I got slightly confused with that.

wow these fake PMs are really annoying! but even more so when they are from someone you think know o.O;; the girl even looked rich, she was wearing an angelic scarf/ pendant/ laurels/ anklets/ staff... i didn't even think twice about clicking this link. the link sent me to a Gaia-looking page that said i had been logged out, and i was just about to re-login when i remembered to double check the url. at a first glance, i saw "Gaiaonline"... but when i looked closer i realized it wasn't a Gaia site. just letting you all know! name-removed Hi...
I was hoping you would check my main avatar at the arena, and rate it? I'm running this week.

I'm not even sure if I understand it, but I'll see if I can explain it.
Well first we judged 4 different lambs. And a person that judges for a living judges the animal. They compared how we judged with what they judged and scored it out of 100.
Then we did 4 pigs. Same happened there. Then 4 cows, 4 lambs again, 4 pigs again, and finally 4 cows again.
Then for the first set of 4 lambs we had to tell them why we placed the animals in the places we gave them. So I did 3,1,4,2 I placed this set of market ewes 3,1,4,2. I placed 3 firs because......then why I placed it there and so on so forth. 50 points for that.
I didn't understand the cuts or whatever it was, but yeah I think that explains it XD
The FFA has tons of judging teams. Soil, plants, livestock, meat, dairy, etc. o.o Basically someone that does it for a living judges them and the kids try to get as close as possible and give their reasons for placing them, except soil judging. That is the only team not to give reasons. Very complicated process XD
